25.05.02 “Spiritual Revolution” (Acts 2:21-36)

When you hear the word “REVOLUTION” what comes to your mind? What about a Spiritual Revolution? Yesterday I left you in the middle of chaos in Jerusalem about 2000 years ago, do you remember? It was the Jewish “Shavuot” festival, also known as the Harvest Festival or Pentecost, which was celebrated each year 50 days after Passover. As you recall, the Passover weekend, which we celebrate as Easter, was for all who knew Jesus Christ dramatic, unexplainable, unbelievable, and historic. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has changed history and changed life for Billions of people in the past 2000 years. 25.05.01 “Miracle of Languages” (Acts 2:3-21)

Good morning my “Walking with Jesus” friends as we begin the month of May together. Have you ever had a ‘revelation’ which changed your mind about something significant, which in turn changed your life? Join me again today in Jerusalem about 2000 years ago, as we watch thousands of people experience a mind changing revelation of God’s Truth which also included a life transforming spiritual experience: the arrival of the Holy Spirit of God!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.30 “Arrival in Power” (Acts 2:1-12)

I’m sure you’ve had the wonderful experience of an anticipated ARRIVAL. Perhaps you waited at an airport or train station and finally your loved one appeared with other weary travelers. Or maybe you waited for a check that was promised to be in the mail. Of course, pregnancy is all about waiting and the wonderful arrival of a new baby. Life is filled with waiting and arrivals so today let’s look at one of the most significant arrivals of all time. It has probably touched your life in a big way!! I left you yesterday with the disciples and friends of Jesus waiting in Jerusalem about 2000 years ago. They were waiting for something they really couldn’t describe, nor did they know exactly how it would happen! Jesus had told His disciples to “wait for the gift My Father promised, which you have heard Me speak about. For John baptized with water but in a few days, you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 1:4,5)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.29 “Jesus’ good-bye” (Acts 1:1-14)

‘Good-byes’ are never easy, are they? Especially if you know the good-bye is for a very long time or maybe even permanently. Since Easter, we’ve been looking at the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus with His friends. Dr. Luke tells us this in the opening words of His book “The Acts”: “After His sufferings, Jesus presented Himself to His disciples and gave many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a period of 40 days and spoke about the kingdom of God.” (Acts 1:3) So now we know it was 40 days from His resurrection that Passover/Easter weekend, until Jesus left them for the last time, and we know what Jesus was doing during those 6 weeks.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.28 “The Comparison Trap” (John 21:18-25)

Have you ever found yourself snared in the comparison trap? Perhaps it was comparing the car you drive with that of your friends, or the brand of clothes you wear as compared to other people, or what you do for vacation? Comparison is a natural part of life, and it can be motivational or like an albatross it can weigh you down and defeat you. Did you know Jesus dealt with this ‘comparison trap’ among His disciples more than once?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.26 “Forgiven & Restored?” (John 21:9-17)

n your life journey, how often have you experienced the power of both FORGIVENESS and RESTORATION back into a wonderful relationship? It’s rare, isn’t it? Too often bitterness and resentment set in so deeply that while forgiveness might happen, trust is never restored, and the relationship remains frayed. Have you found that to be true in your life experience? Today, join me again on that shoreline in Galilee, 2000 years ago, and let’s witness the restoration of a broken relationship that probably has touched your life and mine, 2 millennia later!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.25 “Shoreline Breakfast” (John 21:1-14)

Do you appreciate a good plan that comes together in great success or are you more grateful when something spontaneous turns out to be very special? Join me again on the shoreline of the Sea of Galilee, about 2000 years ago, as we witness a remarkable event which changed the lives of several men. And who those men became, after this event, has probably touched your life, did you know that? Peter, John and five other disciples had been fishing all night but caught nothing.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.24 “Soul Refresh” (John 21:1-7)

I wonder what you do or where you go when you need some PEACE for your troubled SOUL, and some QUIET for deeper REFLECTION? Over the years, in each place Jesus has led my wife and me to live and serve Him, we’ve sought for and found such a place. What stories do you have about God meeting you in your “Peace” & “Quiet” place? Could we call that a ‘soul refresh’ place?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.23 “Jesus given Purpose” (Matt. 28:16-20)

As Easter fades into the rear-view mirror for us and the busyness of life consumes us, my heart is challenged with this question: So, what difference does Easter weekend make in my life and my world, today and going forward? I believe the close friends of Jesus were wrestling with that very same question in the days and weeks after that shocking Passover/Easter weekend which changed the world. As the thousands of visitors, who had come to Jerusalem for Passover, headed home, most of them had no idea what happened to Jesus that weekend!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.22 “Thomas Believes!” (John 20:24-29)

We’ve all had the experience of finding ourselves reliving an experience in our memory, trying to squeeze every last drop of enjoyment and perhaps meaning from that memory. I think that’s what was happening with the disciples and close friends of Jesus in the days immediately following that unexplainable Easter Sunday. Already you and I and most everyone in our world in 2025 has rushed very quickly into the busyness of our lives, and Easter Sunday, while only 48 hours ago, seems like a month ago, doesn’t it? It was not, however, that way for the friends of Jesus. Their lives had been turned upside down and I believe nearly every waking moment, in the days after that remarkable Sunday, their minds and hearts were fully engaged, wrestling in trying to piece together the memories they all had, seeking to come to some reasonable understanding of Jesus and the meaning of these months they had spent with Jesus.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.21 “Easter Evening” (John 20:1-23)

Have you ever awakened the next day after a very big event, with your head still spinning? Do you suppose that’s how the disciples and closest friends of Jesus Christ awakened the Monday after that Passover/Easter miraculous Resurrection Day? John and Luke, both tell us Jesus appeared, miraculously, to many of them who had gathered on Sunday evening as they tried to make sense of the rumors they’d heard of the disappearance of Jesus’ body from the tomb!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.19 “Jesus is Alive”

We have arrived… Easter weekend 2025. I wonder what Easter has meant in your unique, personal, life story, all the way back to your childhood? No matter where you live in the world, as you watch the people of your city this weekend, how many of them are living their lives significantly impacted by the events which took place during that Passover/Easter weekend in Jerusalem 2000 year ago, when Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and rose from the dead? And for how many people you and I will see this weekend, is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus simply a story or a myth which they ignore?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.18 “Agony Friday” (Matt. 26,27)

Around the world today is known as “Good Friday”, one of the most important days in human history, do you know why? On this day we commemorate that Jesus Christ, God the Son, became our Redeemer, our Deliverer, our Savior as HE paid the full sin-atonement price for all humanity with His death on the cross as God the Father poured out His justice wrath for our sin upon His Son on that cross. Did you know that? But can you explain how the death of one man, 2000 years ago, paid for all the sins of all humanity for all time? I left you yesterday in Jerusalem about 2000 years ago, walking out of an ‘upper room’ with Jesus and His disciples after their Passover meal. It had been an unforgettable evening, as John uses 5 chapters to describe it! (John 13-17) Judas had rushed out of the room after being identified by Jesus as the traitor disciple who would betray Jesus.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.17 “Maundy Thursday” (John 13-17)

For many people around the world today is known as “Maundy Thursday”, a melancholy day of reflection. 2000 years ago, Jesus and His disciples had been, for many weeks, looking forward to this weekend which was Passover for them and many thousands of Jews who had traveled to Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit led all four Gospel writers to give us distinctive insights into those last days of Jesus’ earthly journey. I invite you to journey with me today as we draw from those who were with Him and follow some of the significant events which led Jesus and His disciples through that final week; up into that upper room for the Passover meal; then to the garden of Gethsemane; and finally, Golgotha and Jesus’ crucifixion.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.16 “Dinner in Bethany” (John 12:1-19)

Momentum is a very special word with many different applications. I wonder how you define it and what images come into your mind when you think of ‘momentum’? I left you yesterday walking along the road from Jericho to Bethany. Oh, we’re not simply walking, we’re walking with Jesus, and He was leading His disciples toward Jerusalem, and with every step they were getting more and more excited, they were gaining momentum! Why? Because they knew the great Jewish festival Passover was awaiting them in Jerusalem!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.15 “HOPE for Jericho!” (Luke 19:1-10)

For the past several days we’ve been tracing the steps of Jesus and His disciples as they carefully navigate their way toward Jerusalem and Passover. The disciples, of course, loved Passover, as did all Jews, and there was then and now no better place to celebrate Passover than Jerusalem! I left you yesterday in Jericho where Jesus had miraculously given sight to a blind man! Mark tells us the blind man’s name was Bartimaeus. (Mark 10:46) For the disciples the past few days had been mind and heart stretching. This miracle of sight for a blind man was amazing, but small as compared to Jesus restoring life to a man dead nearly a week, Lazarus. (John 11:38-44)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.14 “Who understands Jesus?” (John 11:38-57)

This is a very special week on our calendar each year. It’s Easter week and we walk through each day reflecting on what awaits us at the end of this week, the weekend which changed the world, Easter! I left you yesterday standing outside a tomb near the town of Bethany about 2000 years ago. Jesus was there with His disciples and the sisters whom they all loved very much Martha and Mary, who were grieving the death of their brother Lazarus. His body had already been in the tomb for several days. Tears was all that seemed appropriate.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.12 “Immortality? How?” (John 11:21-27)

In most places of the world, this is a special weekend known as Palm Sunday weekend. I wonder what it means to you. Will your activities this weekend be affected in any way by what took place in Jerusalem about 2000 years ago when the Palms waved as Jesus came riding on a donkey according to the Biblical account? I left you yesterday in the village of Bethany, just over the eastern hills from Jerusalem. We were standing outside a tomb, and Jesus had just challenged Martha and His disciples with these words: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25,26)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.11 “Lazarus: Life or Death?” (John 11:1-26)

One week from today, as you know, is Good Friday, the day, this year, that we honor the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. As you may know the Jewish Passover this year begins at sundown tomorrow. In the weeks leading up to that world changing Passover/Easter weekend about 2000 years ago, Jesus led His disciples through several very powerful experiences which God intended to prepare them for the life-changing weekend, which was the ultimate purpose for which Jesus had come to earth in His incarnation. Jesus Himself explained that miraculous purpose with these words: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3:16,17)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.10 “Who is this Elijah?” (Matt. 17:10-13)

Have you ever had someone tell you that you remind them so much of someone they know who perhaps lives far away or maybe is even deceased? Join me again on a hillside in Israel, about 2000 years ago as disciples Peter, James and John are trying to comprehend what they’ve just experienced with Jesus in His “transfiguration”?! While Matthew was not part of that miracle, he’s the one who gives us the details, as he was led by the Holy Spirit and undoubtedly was given the story by his three disciple friends who had experienced it.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.09 “Voice in the Cloud” (Matt. 17:1-9)

Have you ever had an experience which was so outrageous that even days later you felt you were still in a bit of a ‘fog’, unable to really grasp all that happened and perhaps beginning to doubt if the experience had been real? I wonder if that’s how James, John and Peter were feeling a few days after we left them yesterday on that hillside in Galilee of Israel about 2000 years ago? We find the story in Matthew 17, do you remember? Let’s rejoin this outrageous event for more details!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.08 “Kingdom on the Mountain?” (Matt. 17:1-8)

When you hear the word “Kingdom” what comes to your mind? When you hear the words “kingdom of God” or “kingdom of heaven” what do you think of? Yesterday I left you on a mountainside in Israel with Jesus, Peter, James and John, about 2000 years ago, in a most unusual situation. Jesus was glowing so brightly they couldn’t look at Him! Why? God was speaking in such a powerful way, James, Peter and John’s lives would never be the same! We began looking at this event yesterday, found in Matthew 17 and today let’s consider why suddenly two Old Testament heroes joined this unusual gathering?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.07 “Transfigured Jesus?” (Matt. 17:1,2)

Probably you’ve had some experiences in your lifetime which were so outrageous you struggled to find words to explain them, right? The Bible is filled with them and today, let’s join one of those. Let’s return to the Galilee region of Israel, with Jesus and His disciples, in the last few weeks before Passover/Easter weekend. Jesus is preparing them for what they could not possibly imagine: The world changing Passover/Easter weekend which would be unlike anything they had ever experienced, for it would include the death, burial and resurrection of their friend and leader, Jesus!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.05 “The Value of a Soul?” (Matt. 16:24-26)

Every day, probably several times a day, you and I are challenged to consider VALUE, to ask ourselves if we think the price placed on something is a fair VALUE? It happens with every advertisement we see or hear, or every time we see a price tag, even the price of gasoline posted at the gas station as you drive by. But here’s a question you may not have ever considered: what is the value of a human soul?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.04 “Follow Me!” (Matt. 16:24)

We’ve heard these types of directions since we were kids: “Follow the rules”; “Follow the light”; “Follow your heart”; “Follow the right path”; “Follow your conscience”; “Follow that still small voice inside you”. We’ve also heard these warnings: “don’t follow the crowd”; “don’t follow peer pressure”; “don’t follow bad advice.” So, pause for a few seconds and consider this question: “How do you and I decide what or who to follow?” And this question: “Who is following YOU?”
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.03 “A True Disciple?” (Matt. 21-24)

When was the last time someone said something to you which left you so stunned you were speechless? Yesterday we watched that happen as Peter confronted Jesus! What, you might ask? Yes, Matthew, who was an eyewitness, records it this way: “Jesus began to explain to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that He must be killed, and on third day be raised to life.” (Matt. 16:21) It was stunning news, but Peter took action. Matthew records this: “Peter took Jesus aside and began to rebuke Him. ‘Never Lord! This shall never happen to You!”
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.02 “Heading to Jerusalem, why?” (Matt. 16:21,22)

Your life journey and mine have been filled with ‘defining moments’ which sometimes affect the rest of our lives. For the past three days in our “Walking with Jesus” journey we’ve been experiencing a ‘defining moment’ with Jesus and His disciples at Caesarea Philippi as recorded for us in Matthew 16. Today the story continues with another ‘defining moment’ as Jesus is preparing His disciples for what Jesus knows will happen on Passover/Easter weekend, only a few weeks away, but the disciples don’t have any idea, nor could they imagine it!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.04.01 “Truth Keys to the Kingdom” (Matt. 16:16-19)

Some people use this day, the first of April, to play practical jokes on their friends. Has that ever happened to you? Today, let’s focus not on jokes but on truth, God’s life-changing truth! Yesterday, I left you standing in Caesarea Philippi with Jesus and His disciples as they wrestled with a fundamental question: ‘Who was this man they were following named Jesus?‘ What explanation was viable for the miracles He was doing? Why did He often claim that Almighty God was His Father, and that God had sent Him to earth on a mission?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.31 “Petra or Petros?” (Matt. 16:13-18)

We’ve all heard the question, ‘what’s in a name’? So, I wonder what you know about your name? Why was that name chosen for you? What does your name mean to you and others? Yesterday I left you in Caesarea Philippi with Jesus and His disciples and they were wrestling with the significance of NAMES! Jesus had asked them who people thought He was, and then Jesus asked them who THEY, His disciples, thought He was. You may recall that both Joseph and Mary had been given very specific angelic instructions to name Mary’s miraculous baby “Jesus” (Luke 1:31 & Matt. 1:21) because “He will save His people from their sins.” ‘Jesus’ means “Savior” or “Deliverer”, but you probably knew that already, didn’t you?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.29 “Who do YOU say I am?” (Matt. 16:13-17)

Yesterday we began an exciting, several week journey with Jesus and His disciples, as we walk together, toward Easter. If you missed yesterday, I urge you to go to our Daily Archives tab and catch up with us, so you understand where we are, where we are going and why. I left you yesterday standing with Jesus and His disciples at Caesarea Philippi looking out over a remarkable scene of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people engaged in business, worshiping their idols at the cliff niches, watering their animals and of course lots of talking as they share news of their part of the world.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.28 “From Babylon to Caesarea Philippi?” (Daniel 9:1-3 & Matt. 16:13)

Three weeks from today is a very special day, do you know what it is? Many people called that day “Good Friday”. It’s the Friday of Easter weekend and of course it is ‘good’ because of what God accomplished that day, and weekend, for the rescue of our human race! Over the past several weeks in our “Walking with Jesus” journey we’ve been with the Kings and Prophets of ancient Israel, most recently Jeremiah, Daniel and Ezekiel, during a very significant time in history.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.27 “Prophecy Fulfilled!” (Daniel 9:1-3; Jeremiah 29; Isaiah 44)

I suppose all of us have had ‘defining moment’ experiences in our lives. For several days we’ve been following the life story of a remarkable man named Daniel who lived a very strategic life at an important time in world history. Daniel’s life had many ‘defining moments’ which we’ve looked at closely and today we’ll finish with one final, great event. Yesterday we concluded the remarkable story of Daniel’s survival from the lion’s den and the proclamation King Darius wrote and sent throughout the empire as a result of his conclusion that Daniel’s God was the supreme god over all gods worshiped anywhere in the world. (Daniel 6) The final verse of Daniel 6 is significant: “So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius the Mede and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.” (Daniel 6:28)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.26 “King Darius’ Proclamation” (Daniel 6:25-28)

wonder how often you receive a special looking envelope in the mail with words like “extremely urgent” or “official document” stamped on the envelope? And how often when you open the envelope do you find it is simply a marketing ploy attempting to coerce you into purchasing something you really don’t need? As frustrating as that is, occasionally we do receive a very important document which perhaps you put in a safe place with your other legal, important documents. Yesterday I left you in the palace in Babylon with King Darius the Mede in the year 539bc. He had just witnessed the most remarkable miracle he’d ever seen in his 62 years of life.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.24 “Daniel, Guilty as Charged” (Daniel 6:10-17)

Have you ever been faced with the evidence which convicted you of something and resulted in consequences? In that situation, did you try to negotiate or argue or deny the evidence? Come with me back to Babylon in 539bc as Daniel is praying in his private home, as is his normal pattern, with his window open facing west toward Jerusalem, his hometown. Why is Daniel praying and why facing Jerusalem?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.22 “The Law of the Medes & Persians” (Daniel 6:1-10)

No matter where you and I have lived our lives, I can safely say we have each and all experienced a good bit of indiscretion among leaders, am I right? What type of Leaders? Leaders in business, education, health care, politics, law and order, even religious organizations. Why? Because it’s the world in which we and all humanity have lived our lives. On rare occasions perhaps you’ve had the privilege of working for or living your life under the influence or authority of a wise, honest, God honoring leader.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.21 “Darius selects Daniel” (Daniel 6:1-3)

Today marks about 60 days since the new American government administration has been installed. 60 days! Yet if you’ve watched the news, the flurry of activity and restructuring has been a frenetic pace impacting thousands of people and government offices, both in America and around the world. Yesterday in Daniel 5:30,31 we witnessed a sudden, dramatic, unexpected change of government in the Babylonian empire as the great city of Babylon was conquered in one night! Historical records indicate it was a late-night secret invasion and much of the city was in party mode when the surprise attack happened, so it was accomplished quite quickly.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.20 “Babylon Judgment” (Daniel 5:25-30)

I wonder if you’ve ever experienced being in a courtroom when the judge pronounces the verdict and drops the gavel declaring the decision final and the case closed? Depending on the severity of the case the words of the judge and the sound of the gavel can be chilling, sending a shiver up your spine. That is exactly the scene I left you in yesterday, but it wasn’t a courtroom, it was a large banquet hall in or near the palace in Babylon 2500 years ago. King Belshazzar and his 1000 guests were terrified by seeing a disembodied hand appear in the air and write some words on the banquet hall wall. (Daniel 5:1-6) Only Daniel was able to read the words and explain to the king and his royal guests what it all meant. Remember what we’ve learned from Daniel in this shocking experience thus far?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.19 “Mene, Tekel” (Daniel 5:22-27)

What does the phrase “Time is Running Out” mean to you? Perhaps you think of an athletic game with seconds left on the clock; or maybe a friend serving in the military and their overseas deployment is nearing its end. Yesterday I left you in the King’s palace in Babylon. A grand celebration of the empire’s nobles had been disrupted by a very frightening experience. A disembodied hand had miraculously appeared in the air and written words on the palace wall which only Daniel seemed able to read!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 5:22-27. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.18 “Unknown Words on the Wall” (Daniel 5:7-25)

What is the worst FEAR you have ever experienced? Fear so deep you could not cry or utter a sound? Fear so paralyzing you could not stimulate your mind to think or your mouth to speak or your feet to run. Knee knocking; hand wringing; mind boggling FEAR! Let’s return to a very large banquet hall in the remarkable city of Babylon about 2500 years ago. King Belshazzar has invited 1000 of the most prestigious, important, influential people in all Babylon and even leaders out in the rural towns and villages. As we rejoin the party this celebration of Babylonian greatness has gone on for several days but now, suddenly FEAR has captured the revelers! A large human hand, unattached to any arm or body, has appeared in the air and is writing words on the wall near the lampstand in the palace! Can you imagine that?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 5:7-25. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

Significant things, history shaping things are happening so fast these days, in so many parts of our world, are you having a hard time keeping ‘up to date’ and piecing it all together? Join me again back in Babylon about 2500 years ago in between chapter 4 & 5 of Daniel. Amazing things were happening, and I think it will be exciting for us to step into it. Yesterday I left you in the throne room of King Nebuchadnezzar as he was dictating to his scribes his autobiography regarding that shocking time when the king actually went insane for a while and lived out in the wild with the animals! By God’s grace he repented, and God restored him to his palace and kingship until his death in 562bc.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 5:1-6. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.15 “Insane Nebuchadnezzar?” (Daniel 4:28-37)

I wonder how many neurological or psychological disorders you are familiar with? How about “PTSD” or “ADHD” or “Bi-Polar” or “GAD” or “Agoraphobia” or “panic disorder” or “Manic” or “Schizophrenia”, and the list goes on, doesn’t it? The world of therapists and medications is growing rapidly to treat an ever growing list of dysfunctions in humanity. I wonder what psychologists would say happened to King Nebuchadnezzar about 2600 years ago, as Daniel records it for us in Daniel 4?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 4:28-37. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.13 Nebuchadnezzar’s terrifying dream” (Daniel 4:9, 13-19a)

Have you ever been troubled by frightening dreams, maybe even what you might call nightmares? Yesterday I left you in King Nebuchadnezzar’s throne room. He had summoned Daniel, his trusted advisor and was about to detail a frightening dream he had experienced, hoping Daniel could interpret it for the king. Perhaps you remember more than 30 years before King Nebuchadnezzar had troubling dreams about a golden headed statue. None of the king’s wise men could interpret that dream and he was about to kill them when Daniel came forth and with God’s help, he interpreted the dreams for the king. Nebuchadnezzar, in his profound gratitude, had elevated Daniel to a very high position in Babylon. The record of that event is Daniel 2.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 4:9,13-19a. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.12 “Positioned by God” (Daniel 4:1-9)

In recent weeks ‘Executive Orders’ and “Negotiated Proclamations” have been issued by some of the most powerful people in the world and the results have been very significant. Usually, such powerful documents are political or military or economic in nature but today let’s look at one of the most significant of all time. This document was auto biographical, issued by none other than King Nebuchadnezzar himself, sovereign over the Babylonian empire. The opening paragraph of this remarkable document is unlike any other I’ve ever read: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to the nations and peoples of every language who live in all the world. May you prosper greatly. It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me. How great are HIS signs, how mighty HIS wonders! 25.03.11 “A Fourth Man?” (Daniel 3:16-30)

Have you ever had an experience which required an extended time for you to think through and adjust your life to? I think there’s a time gap of perhaps as much as 10 years between Daniel 3 & 4, primarily for all those involved to really soak in and understand what we witnessed yesterday, do you remember? About 2600 years ago in Babylon the great king Nebuchadnezzar had built a gold plated, 90 ft tall statue of himself and demanded that the leaders from all across the Babylonian empire gather to bow in worship before his statue. That remarkable story is found in Daniel 3 in the Bible.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 3:16-30. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.10 “Free in the Furnace!” (Daniel 3:13-29)

Sometimes that phrase “Walking with Jesus” can take on grave consequences, can’t it? Oh, probably you’ve never found yourself in a life-or-death situation with death hanging in the balance depending on how you might answer a demand from a very angry person… but that’s exactly what 3 young Jewish men were facing in the throne room of the most powerful man in the world at that time, King Nebuchadnezzar. Come with me, back about 2600 years ago, to the great city of Babylon and let’s see what happened next. You’ll find the account in Daniel 3 in your Bible.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 3:13-29. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.08 “Fire or Faith in God”? (Daniel 3:7-15)

Yesterday I left you in a very precarious situation, do you remember? We were standing on the plain of Dura near Babylon, about 2600 years ago, looking at a gigantic, 90-foot, gold plated statue of the great King Nebuchadnezzar. We were surrounded by hundreds, maybe thousands of people, all of them leaders in their districts, who had come from all over the great Babylonian empire at the invitation of the most powerful man in the world, Nebuchadnezzar. (Daniel 3:1-3) As we gathered, these instructions were pronounced to us: “Nations and peoples of every language, this is what you are commanded to do: As soon as you hear the sound of the horn and other instruments, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. “ (Daniel 3:4-6)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 3:7-15. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

In our world of architectural extravagance, what is the most outrageous building or structure designed and crafted by mankind that you have ever seen? The skyline of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, or maybe the skyline of Hong Kong, or perhaps the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel?

While we have no actual photographs from the great ancient cities like Nineveh or Babylon, architects and sketch artists have been fascinated by historical descriptions of what those remarkable cities were like. Come with me again, back to Babylon about 2600 years ago. Daniel had been forcibly taken as a teenage captive from Jerusalem during King Nebuchadnezzar’s first invasion in 605 BC, and marched to Babylon, a journey of about 700 miles by the circuitous route travelers likely took at that time.

(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 3:1-6. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.03.06 “Valley of Dry Bones!” (Ezekiel 37:1-14)

A few years ago, I stood at the bedside of a friend and his family as the family discussed one of the most difficult life decisions any family can face. The man was on ‘life support’ and the family was considering turning off the machines. After prayer, they in fact did and as I watched, the man kept breathing and soon revived and has now been alive nearly five years since that day, living a vibrant second chance at life!

No matter where you live in the world today, I wonder if you consider yourself blessed by God and living in a time of bounty in your life journey? If you know history, all I need to say is these words… ‘The Great Depression’. 25.03.04 “Me display God’s Splendor?” (Ezekiel 36:22-27)

Yesterday I left you contemplating a very important question, do you remember? Has your life and mine honored or profaned Almighty, Holy God and Jesus Christ? The question is not original with me… it’s a question God led Ezekiel to write and ask the Jewish captives 2600 years ago, who were living scattered across the map of what we today call the ‘Middle East’. Hundreds of thousands of Jews lived in exile having been dragged away from Israel by invading armies over the previous more than 100 years! Ezekiel was a courageous spokesman God had raised up several years before. He too was a captive living in Babylon surrounded by thousands of other Jewish exiles and regularly God gave Ezekiel important messages for those exiles. But Ezekiel’s messages are very pertinent to us, today as well.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 36:22-27. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

I wonder if you ever heard a caution like this from your parents as you headed out the door, especially during your teen years: ‘Now remember, you carry our family name with you, don’t do anything stupid!’ Or maybe you were cautioned with these words: “Remember you’re a Christian and everyone is watching.” Oh my, and I wonder how cautions such as those affected your words, attitudes and choices?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 36:16-21. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

As we begin a new month together, March 2025, I wonder what you see as you look out over the next 31 days in your life journey. What significant things are already on your calendar? And if you and I were to keep careful track of personal events, events impacting our family and friends, and even major national or international events this month, can you imagine what our journey will look like by the time we reach March 31st? Yesterday I left you with Mr. Ezekiel who was receiving a very significant message from God about failed leadership held accountable by God and God’s promise to intervene and personally act on behalf of His people Israel, gathering them back in their homeland. (Ezekiel 34:11-14)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 34:15-24. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.28 “Woe to Failed Leaders” (Ezekiel 34:1-14)

On this the final day of February 2025 I urge us all to pause for a few seconds and look back over the shortest month of the year. Amazing things have happened in these 28 days in many parts of the world, much of it driven by a passionate, new leadership team in Washington DC who seem determined to make every day count in helping to repair significant damage and disasters in America and many parts of the world. Billions of dollars rescued from shocking leadership corruption; hostages released from several nations where they’ve been wrongfully detained; negotiations undertaken to end wars; radical solutions suggested for gender identity dysfunction in many social arenas in several parts of our world and much more. As I’ve watched all this, a disturbing question is stirring deep in my soul. What question? What accountability should there be for failed leadership who have allowed such deep damage to be done to entire societies in so many places in our world?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 34:1-14. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

You and I live at a time in history when ‘front page news’ is happening in thousands of places around the world all at the same time, right? 25.02.26 “Jeremiah’s End” (Jeremiah 42:7-43:7)

I left you yesterday waiting, do you remember? When’s the last time you spent a long period of time praying and waiting for God to give you a much-needed answer for guiding your life? That’s what the old prophet Jeremiah was doing… praying and waiting. But Jeremiah was not the only one waiting! Jeremiah’s petition for God’s guidance wasn’t for himself, but rather for a large group of weary Israeli refugees fleeing disaster, do you remember who they are? These had been the last to leave destroyed, demolished Jerusalem after its destruction by the Babylonian army in 586bc. (Jeremiah 40:6) They’d heard Mizpah was a safe place so went there, about 10 miles north of Jerusalem and spent several months there. Thousands of other war refugees also came to Mizpah having heard it was safe there. (Jeremiah 40:11,12) And it was, until a terrorist attack killed the benevolent leaders and ruthlessly took charge of this war weary group of refugees which included Jeremiah the prophet. 25.02.25 “Jeremiah’s final journey” (Jeremiah 40:7- 42:6)

The unprovoked invasion of Russia into Ukraine is now 3 years old this week. Also, the hostage situation in Gaza has held the world in rapt attention for 16 months, since that horrific October 7th attack by Hamas terrorists into peaceful Israeli kibbutz villages. Perhaps like me, you’ve often wondered what it would be like to live in a place of such turmoil as is the heartbreaking reality for millions of people in many parts of our world today. Part of the reason we’ve been looking closely at the Biblical record of events in Israel 2600 years ago, is the similarity to what is happening in that part of the world today. We’re seeking to understand what life lessons God has for us in 2025 whether we live in Israel or Lebanon, Syria or Ukraine, Sudan or Mexico, or any other troubled place in our world.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scriptures: Jeremiah 40:7- 42:6. Choose below to read or listen.Jeremiah 40:7- 42:6 Jer. 40
Jer.41

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

Over the years you and I have seen the overwhelming aftermath of huge disasters, it’s happening right now in North Carolina and Florida after the hurricanes of last fall. It will eventually be happening in Ukraine and the Gaza strip following the destruction of war. Most clean up and restoration projects take a very long, long time. 25.02.22 “Jerusalem Collapse” (Jeremiah 32:17-35 & 2 Kings 25:1-21 & 2 Chronicles 36:11-21)

I presume most of us on this “Walking with Jesus” journey are old enough to recall some of the horrific, cataclysmic events of the past several decades. 25.02.21 “Shepherds?” (Jeremiah 23:1-8)

Endings are very important, and often important lessons can be learned in endings, right? What type of endings? Well in athletics, the ending of an athletic season; in agriculture the ending of either planting or harvest season; in politics, the ending of a term in leadership; in life, the ending of one’s earthly journey. These days we’re looking closely at the Biblical record of the end of the nation of Israel around 2600 years ago.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 23:1-8. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.20 “No Remedy?” (2 Chron. 36:11-16 & Jeremiah 21:1-10)

Many things in life have a time limit. Athletic competition often has a time clock; every day has only 24 hours; elected office normally has a term length; even many perishable foods have a ‘shelf life’. Often the final amount of time in the life span of an event is very significant. Lately we’ve been looking at lessons God wants us to learn about that closing time for the nation of Israel and specifically Jerusalem as recorded in the Bible. Over the past several days we’ve been walking a remarkable journey with Jewish prophets Jeremiah, who lived in Jerusalem and Ezekiel, who lived with the captives in Babylon. Both were God’s spokesmen as the collapse of the nation of Israel approached.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: 2 Chron. 36:11-16 & Jeremiah 21:1-10. Choose below to read or listen.2 Chron. 36:11-16Jeremiah 21:1-10
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.19 “Going Home” (Jeremiah 29:14)

“Going Home” is a wonderful statement to make, especially if you’ve been away from home for a long time, isn’t it? That experience is especially wonderful when you’ve been forcibly taken and kept away from your home for a very long time, especially if you’ve been in EXILE. Over the past few weeks, “going home” has been experienced by a few hostages taken forcibly by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023. Pictures of the excited family reunions have been heartwarming, awakening hope for the families of other barbarically held Israeli hostages. I wonder if you have a ‘going home’ story, my friends?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 29:14. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.18 “God’s Plans & Purposes?” (Jeremiah 29:11-14)

How far out into your future do you like to plan? Six months, a year, 5 years? How easily do you change your plans when facing a challenge? How do you suppose God plans for what He’d like to accomplish here on planet earth? Let’s rejoin Jeremiah the Jewish prophet again, about the year 590bc as he is receiving a shocking message from God for the people of Israel, most all of whom were in exile living in many different conquering nations. It’s a message you and I have probably applied to ourselves. You’ll remember Jeremiah was still in Jerusalem, but Ezekiel and more than 10,000 Jewish captives had been marched by King Nebuchadnezzar’s army from Jerusalem to Babylon in 597bc.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11-14. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.17 “Seventy Years? (Jeremiah 29:10)

I wonder if you are a person who likes to make detailed plans before stepping forward, or are you more of a spontaneous person? And what about God? Do you think God is a plan and purpose God or a spontaneous God? Or is God actually both? What do you think about this verse and how it applies to you and me today as well as all that was happening in the Middle East 2600 years ago: “The PLANS of the LORD stand firm forever, the PURPOSES of His heart through all generations.” (Psalm 33:11)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 29:10. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.15 “Be A Blessing where?” (Jeremiah 29:7-9)

Think back with me, to all the places where you’ve lived. How did those places BENEFIT from you living there, attending school there or working there or retiring there? Is it a fair expectation for God to have of His people that the PLACES where He plants us to live will be blessed by our presence there? This weekend let’s continue reading a very important letter the prophet Jeremiah wrote to thousands of Jewish captives living in exile in Babylon about 2600 years ago. Like most refugees, these Jewish captives were angry to have been hauled away from their homeland Jerusalem, even though, if they were honest with themselves, they must admit God had warned them and they had rejected God’s warning, thus they were living God’s judgment.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 29:7-9. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.14 “God’s Valentine’s Day message” (Jeremiah 29:4-7)

All across America and many places around the world today, cards and notes, candy and flowers and many different expressions of love will be given in hopes of encouraging people with a special touch of love, on this Valentine’s Day 2025. 25.02.13 “Corruption?” (Ezekiel 8)

When we hear the word ‘corruption’ what pictures come into our minds these days? The violent drug cartels of Mexico; Human traffickers sneaking people across the borders; corrupt governments of third world nations; or high-ranking elected officials in sophisticated western nations who have succumbed to bribery or blackmail? Join me again in the great city of Babylon, 2600 years ago, with the Jewish prophet Ezekiel, in captivity, as he receives a message from God which is as relevant today as it was then. This new message, recorded by Ezekiel in chapter 8, is about corruption even among people who claim to be God honoring people!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 8. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.12 “God’s Justice?” (Ezekiel 7)

When you hear the name “GOD” what are the first thoughts which come to your mind? A very wise man (AW Tozer) once said “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” Perhaps your first thought about God is HOLY or ALMIGHTY or CREATOR? But what about JUSTICE? For the past several months we’ve been tracing the history of Israel in the Old Testament because our times today are remarkably similar to what was happening in Israel in Bible times. We have so much to learn from what God did then. Join me again today in Babylon, about 2600 years ago, with the prophet Ezekiel and more than 10,000 Jewish captives who had arrived from Jerusalem almost six years before.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 7. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.11 “A Clay Model?” (Ezekiel 4)

Yesterday, Ezekiel shared with us a remarkable message he had received from God about speaking ONLY as God led him to speak, and we were challenged to consider how alert we are to God as He wants to guide us when to speak, when to be quiet, and WHAT to speak! I know Ezekiel’s words in Ezekiel 3:26,27 really struck my heart, what about yours? Today, what place do you think of when I use the word “HOMETOWN”? Let’s join Ezekiel as he shares with us the next fascinating thing God instructed him to DO. Would you believe Ezekiel’s next message from God directed him to build a clay model of the city of Jerusalem, the hometown of all 10,000 captives who were marched to Babylon with Ezekiel almost 6 years before. Ezekiel 4:1 begins: “Now son of man, take a block of clay, put it in front of you and draw the city of Jerusalem on it. Then lay siege to it: Erect siege works against it, build a ramp up to it, set camps against it and put battering rams around it…this will be a sign to the people of Israel.” (Ez.4:1,2)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 4. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.10 “When to Speak?” (Ezekiel 3:22-27)

Life in 2025 provides us with a wide range of ‘expert advisors’, no matter where we live in the world, ready to help us face almost any challenge, right? Many of them may have a speed dial number on your cell phone. In fact, with technology, it’s now possible your ‘expert advisors’ don’t live in your town or even your State and in a few rare cases maybe not even in your country! And so, we have financial advisors, medical advisors and legal advisors etc. But what about LIFE advisors? 25.02.08 “Ezekiel a Watchman?” (Ezekiel 3:15-21)

Yesterday, Mr. Ezekiel challenged us to consider our vital life roles in our families and society as ‘watchmen’. It was God’s calling & commission to Ezekiel. (Ez. 3:16,17) For Ezekiel no further explanation was needed. He understood and greatly respected the role of a ‘watchman’ in his world, at his time in history. But as God often does, God clarified His “watchman’ assignment with further details for Ezekiel, so let’s listen as we seek to discern God’s word for us today. Ezekiel recorded what he heard from God this way: “The word of the LORD came to me: Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel…
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 3:16-21. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.07 “Ezekiel a Watchman?” (Ezekiel 3:15-21)

What would be the attitude of your heart if you stepped into this day and the weekend ahead knowing you would face anger, opposition, conflict from almost everyone you spoke with? Perhaps you’d be tempted to stay in bed all weekend and not face anyone, right? But what if you knew the message that filled your heart, which you felt compelled to share with people was a message directly from God, and God Himself was leading you into every conversation, even if it was conflictual? That is exactly what our friend Mr. Ezekiel was experiencing, 2600 years ago in Babylon! I hope you’ve been with me the past few days so you have an understanding of what Ezekiel had experienced in his overwhelming vision with God and the commissioning and warning God had given him.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 3:15-21. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.02.06 “Ezekiel Hard-Headed?” (Ez. 3:4-15)

I wonder if you’ve ever been accused of being ‘hardheaded’? Would you believe I have found that sometimes God actually helps a person become hardheaded when they are facing a challenging situation which needs a strong, determined person? Come with me again back to Ezekiel as he is receiving his final marching orders from God in his life changing vision experience which He records for us in Ezekiel 1-3. God was warning Ezekiel that his commissioning was not an easy one, for the people would not want to hear the messages God was giving Ezekiel to tell His people, the Jewish captives in Babylon. Look with me at Ezekiel 3:4 “He said to me, ‘Son of man, go now to the people of Israel and speak My words to them…But the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to Me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate.” (Ez. 3:4,7)
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ez. 3:4-15. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

2600 years ago in Babylon, chariots were the envious transportation of the day. Yesterday we joined Ezekiel in his multi-sensory experience of the Vision God gave him which he describes in Ezekiel 1. Yesterday we discussed the four faced, four winged angelic beings. Today Ezekiel continues with these words: “As I looked at the four living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature…the wheels sparkled like topaz and all four looked alike. Each appeared to be made like a wheel intersecting a wheel. 25.02.03 “Four Faced Cherubim?” (Ezekiel 1:1-14)

In your life journey I wonder what experiences you have had which have overwhelmed you with the Majesty, the Power, the Supremacy of God? Maybe the galaxies you can see through a telescope or perhaps a volcano erupting or maybe a storm the size of a continent? 2600 years ago, thousands of Jewish people who had been marched into captivity in Babylon were humiliated, fearful, deeply discouraged and most of them were convinced God, in His judgment of their wickedness, had turned His back on them! They were in desperate need of something new from God.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 1:1-14. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.01.31 “Ezekiel’s Vision Encounter” (Ezekiel 1)

We are thirty days into the new year of 2025 and 12 days or so into the new US leadership, and I wonder what you have seen as you’ve watched the headlines all around the world in these tumultuous days? Fires in California / hostage negotiations in Israel / installation of a new President and many new key leaders in Washington, oh my it’s been a busy time! Here’s an important question: Do you see God at work in our world over these past days? If so, what convinces you it was God and not simply politics or strong winds fanning California flames or something else? What helps you discern when and how God is directly involved in human events, even your own life? That key question was front and center for many people 2600 years ago as it is today!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 1. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

I have a question for us: What have been your driving ambitions in life and how have they changed as you have aged? As you take a moment to reflect on that, I think you’ll find it very interesting to consider what your passions were at various stages of your life like your teenage years, your young adult years, your midlife years, and if you are old enough, your retirement years. Now, how did those passions affect your priorities and choices through the journey of your life?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 2:1-7. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

Have you ever had the painful experience of watching a person disregard the appeals, the warnings and even the desperate warnings of those who love them as they pursue a dangerous path of rebellion that led them to a desperate place like divorce court or bankruptcy or prison or maybe even death?

Have you ever had the heartbreaking experience of sifting through the ashes of destruction or despair? It’s what people on the East Coast of the USA are still doing, weeks, months after the aftermath of hurricane Milton and what Californians are doing in the weeks following the devastation of the windswept fires. The truth is we could apply that horrible image to every country in the world and almost every city. The ashes around our world today are really not much different from those down through history past…natural disasters; failed governments; powerful criminals; rebellious teenagers; broken promises and abandonment by those who had the power to help but didn’t.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 17:9-14. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

In our journey through the Bible very often we meet a person in the Old Testament who really understood how to ‘Walk with God’ long before Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Recently we’ve been looking at the stories of two such men, Daniel and Jeremiah, both of whom were positioned very strategically by God in their world and through whom God spoke powerful messages. Both men lived about 2600 years ago, at a very tumultuous time in Middle East history, quite similar to our times. Do you remember their assignments from God and their audiences?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 17:1-8. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? From millions of displaced Ukrainians who have lost everything including entire villages in the three yearlong horrific invasion from Russia. From millions of people in Gaza, Syria, northern Israel and southern Lebanon and so many parts of the middle east who’ve lost everything due to the aggression of Iranian proxies determined to exterminate Israel. 25.01.24 “Hearing God’s Voice” (Jeremiah 9:11-16)

You and I live at a time in history when the number of voices clamoring for our attention can be overwhelming. Politicians, entertainers, journalists, social media, voices from around the world calling for help, our own extended families, friends and of course God. But…do you find it a challenge to hear the voice of God in all the noise, my friends? Part of the reason we’ve been walking through Israel’s history in the Old Testament is to learn from those who lived in much the same challenge we face daily. How did they learn to discern and listen to God’s voice in all the noise?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 9:11-16. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.01.23 “ROCK Power” (Daniel 2:34,35; John 8)

For one last time, I invite us to return to the most powerful throne room in the world 2600 years ago as Daniel is concluding his explanation of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. May I give you a fresh perspective on the ROCK that struck and demolished the statue? May I ask, is that ROCK impacting your city today? You’ll remember we’ve been looking at Daniel 2 and King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream which featured a huge statue with a head of gold. Over the past days, as we’ve dug deeply into Daniel 2, we’ve learned the head of gold symbolized King Nebuchadnezzar himself, the most powerful man in the world at that time in about 600bc. The rest of the statue symbolized subsequent global dominating empires down through history to our present day which is symbolized by the feet and 10 toes partly of iron and partly of clay.

My guess is people all over the world are watching closely to see what the new American President, in partnership with a Republican majority Congress, (both Senate and House) will accomplish in the first week of their leadership in America. 25.01.21 “A ROCK on Inauguration Day” (Daniel 2:44,45)

While our world watched the inauguration of a new American president yesterday, I imagine already today almost everyone in the world has a list of their expectations of what this change of leadership in America will mean for our world. Of course, TIME will tell the story, but I wonder what our world will look like one year or 10 years or 100 years from now? 2600 years ago, in the most powerful throne room in the world, the most powerful man in the world King Nebuchadnezzar had been listening to Daniel, a young Jewish captive, explain a prophetic dream Almighty God had given Nebuchadnezzar. The dream was God’s overview of human history, from God’s perspective, beginning that day in about 602bc and continuing forward to our day in 2025 and beyond into the future God sees for our planet and our human race!! 25.01.20 “A ROCK on Inauguration Day” (Daniel 2:44,45)

Today, as I’m sure you know, a new American President will be inaugurated in Washington DC. If you’ve been watching world news, the flurry of political activity in Washington and the capital cities of many nations around the world, has been a near frenzy in recent weeks. So many parts of our world are in great turmoil, uncertainty or even war, and so much of our world depends on America for economic or military support, in some cases even survival. It is times like these which call our world to look UP, look to Almighty God who is Sovereign over all. Sadly very, very few global leaders are looking to God for guidance. In recent days we’ve been looking at what God was saying 2600 years ago to our world through His prophet Daniel. It’s amazingly relevant to our day, so let’s return there to hear Daniel’s conclusion regarding King Nebuchadnezzar’s prophetic dream found in Daniel 2.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 2:44,45. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.01.18 “Feet of Iron and Clay?” (Daniel 2:33,41-43)

This is a big weekend in our world, isn’t it? The American government leadership will transition on Monday, and may I urge you to pause this weekend and pray for a successful and peaceful transition? Of course, the eyes of the world will be on the President inauguration on Monday, but as we all know literally THOUSANDS of leadership roles are transitioning and much of that needs to happen this weekend so when the Presidential inauguration is complete all aspects of government transition seamlessly. Now pause for a few seconds my friends and consider how important it is, not only for 325 million Americans, but for the populations of all those nations who depend on the generosity of America for foreign aid, or economic trade with America, or military protection or help, or so many more things which America does to help our world, INCLUDING sending the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ to our world! Aren’t you grateful to God that He has blessed you and me with the privilege of being alive at this moment in history?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 2:33, 41-43. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.01.16 “The Iron Kingdom?” (Daniel 2:39,40)

Do you wonder what it is like in Washington DC this weekend, as an outgoing administration prepares to vacate the White House and hundreds, perhaps thousands, of other American leaders are vacating their offices? Probably we’ve all had the experience of changing jobs or moving from one place to another, so we understand the emotions of packing up all our belongings and the flood of memories as we reflect on the season of time coming to an end. Similarly, we’ve all had the experience of walking into a new job or moving into what for us is a new home. So, what are all incoming leaders doing this weekend as a new President and leadership team will assume their responsibilities on Monday?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)

Today’s Scripture: Daniel 2:39, 40. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.01.16 “God’s Sovereignty?” (Daniel 2:32,38)

I left you yesterday with the most powerful man in the world 2600 years ago, King Nebuchadnezzar, as he was receiving a briefing from young Jewish captive Daniel regarding a dream the King had. This historic event is found in Daniel 2, and I believe it is important for us to understand because, as you’ll see, our generation, our time, is in this dream! Can you believe that? Why would God give a dream to a person 2600 years ago that has significant relevance to us in 2025? That’s what we’re going to discover as we join Daniel as he continues his explanation. And today we’ll add historical perspective history has taught us over the past 2600 years! Yesterday we looked at the miracle of young Daniel describing for King Nebuchadnezzar, in remarkably accurate detail, the dream the King had experienced.

I have a question to begin our weekend: How do you measure SUCCESS? Much of the world is asking that about US Presidents these days as “the every four year” Presidential transition is about to take place, again. But let’s personalize the question… what about you and me; our marriages; our parenting; our careers; our legacies? Yesterday I left you with Daniel as he was beginning a three year, intensive, forced Babylonian leadership training program. Daniel was a prisoner of war, taken forcibly from his home in Jerusalem in 605bc and now being trained, by officers of King Nebuchadnezzar, for overseeing his fellow Jewish captives in Babylon.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Daniel 1:18-21. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

I wonder what the greatest test of your spiritual faith in God has ever been. 25.01.09 “A Reckoning”

When you hear the word “RECKONING” I wonder what images come to your mind? Perhaps a mother with a wooden spoon and her little boy draped over her knee? Or maybe a courtroom with a judge declaring “guilty as charged” and the gavel coming down with a vengeance? For the past three days we’ve been considering God’s warnings through His prophet Jeremiah to the Jewish people of Jerusalem who were embracing wickedness and turning away from God in the years following King Josiah’s death. Josiah was the final God honoring King in Jerusalem. Josiah was followed on the throne by not one but two of his sons, both of whom were wicked men and they turned Jerusalem into an idol worshiping, decadent city!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Jer. 25:1-11; Daniel 1:1-5. Choose below to read or listen.Jer. 25:1-11Daniel 1:1-5
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 25.01.08 “Family Crisis in Jerusalem” (Jeremiah 7:17-28)

We’ve just come through the season of the year when we focus more on family than any other time: Thanksgiving & Christmas. I wonder what this family season has shown you about your extended family and the family culture in your part of the world as 2025 begins. In the Jewish culture, family has always been very important, God designed it that way, and the spiritual emphasis of family is seen every Friday evening as Shabbat begins with family dinner. Also of course is the Bar-Mitzvah and Bat-Mitzvah, and all the Jewish festivals.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 7:17-28. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

I wonder how many of us made New Year’s Resolutions one week ago today. Now, seven days into 2025, how many of us are holding firm to those resolutions? And what are you finding is your most powerful asset in accomplishing those resolutions? King Solomon, the wisest man of all time, gave us this good advice: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” (Prov. 4:23) Have we learned how important it is to guard our hearts from anything that would draw our hearts away from God or truth or from personal integrity?

On this the first Monday of 2025 the whole world wonders what this year will bring, to every nation, every city, every family, every person.

An important part of parenting is watching to see if our children are learning important life lessons, we are trying to teach them and often discipline is part of that process, in every culture of the world, isn’t it? 25.01.03 “Making A Difference in ’25?” (Jeremiah 5:5, 7, 11, 30, 31)
Daily the headlines are calling us to consider the accomplishments and character of global leaders as we evaluate the record of their performance in 2024, and we rush into a new year with these leaders. Will ’25 be different? Oh my, how our world desperately needs men and women of honorable, capable, effective leadership, and what is your assessment of leaders of nations around the world? Have you ever given thought to what God sees when He looks at country leaders and what God’s expectations of these leaders are?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 5:5,7,11,30,31. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

While some people will make these first few days of January a long holiday week in starting their new year, for many parts of our world life will try to get back to some degree of normalcy today. 25.01.01 “New Year 2025”

Today we all step across the threshold into a new year. None of us knows with certainty what this year will hold for us, our families, our nation, or the world. I wonder what picture describes what you see out ahead of you? * An angry ocean filled with crashing waves. * A blanket of fresh snow, smooth and beautiful inviting you to step forward with freedom and frolic with joy? * A busy roadway filled with heavy traffic requiring you to merge into fast moving traffic quickly and very cautiously. * A battlefield with warning signs that an explosive minefield is ahead of you. * A pristine beach, with crystal clear water, a cloudless sky, an endless horizon of beauty?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 139. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?

New Year’s Eve is a very important day as we approach and cross the finish/start line every year, isn’t’ it? And the older we get I wonder if this final day of the year gains more significance. Oh yes, when we awake tomorrow morning, we’ll still be very much the same people we are at this moment, but we’ll be on a new journey, each of us writing our life story in a new year, 2025. Of course, the truth is, the new year out ahead of us is inseparably connected to this past year, isn’t it? 24.12.30 “WHO was Anna the Prophet?” (Luke 2:36-38)

Oh my, it’s Monday December 30 and that means Christmas seems very far away as our focus is riveted now on the rapidly approaching ‘turn of the page’ from 2024 to 2025. Are you ready? Just as you could not have imagined all that has transpired in our world, and probably in your life, in ’24, I doubt any of us can imagine what life will be like one year from now! I wonder how many of us on the “Walking with Jesus” journey will actually walk right into heaven in 2025 as our earthly journey comes to an end?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Luke 2:36-38. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.28 “Encountering Simeon!” (Luke 2:22-35)

This is the final weekend for 2024, and I wonder what you see as you look back over the path of your life the past 52 weeks? I have no doubt your journey this past year, like mine and everyone, has had unexpected twists and turns, storms filled with anxiety and maybe great loss and pain, as well as times of smooth sailing with great joy. That’s the reality of life for all of us, isn’t it? But here is a question we all need to ponder this weekend: What was God’s purpose as He watched over your life; and worked in your life; and walked this year with you? How are you different today than you were one year ago?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Luke 2:22-35. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.27 “Joseph the Mentor” (Luke 2:22, 23)

I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas week and these days of preparation for a new year ahead! For Joseph and Mary in busy Bethlehem, I have to believe these were very stressful days trying to move out of that smelly stable and into something more suitable for a newborn baby, especially considering that baby was God incarnate! I wonder how many times Joseph found himself alone in that busy town crying out to God asking for God’s help in providing even the most basic needs for his young wife and baby.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Luke 2:22,23. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.26 “The Eighth Day?”

In many ways today is a day of great disappointment for millions of people, did you know that? The long journey of anticipation toward Christmas is rudely over. Too many gifts will be returned today for a refund and many children’s toys will be discarded as broken or unwanted already. Christmas trees will be dismantled and piles of them will soon appear on street curbs. You may also know this week more people file for divorce than any other week of the year! But what about us, people who view Christmas as a major spiritual experience? What about those involved in that first Biblical Christmas.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Genesis 17:1-21. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.25 “Christmas – The Day After!”

The contrast found around the world in how people greet and spend this day will be extravagant, I’m sure you agree! I know you are all very busy wherever you are today, so let’s just take a brief few moments looking at Bethlehem the morning after that remarkable night when Jesus was born. Let’s consider this question: “HOW was Bethlehem ‘the morning after'”?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Luke 2:17,18. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.24 “Christmas…why WHEN and HOW did it happen?”

We have arrived! For billions of people around the world, this is the day we’ve been anticipating for a long time, isn’t it? Now if you were the author of “Walking with Jesus” I wonder what you’d want to draw our attention to this Christmas Eve? As you know we’ve been focusing on ONE Christmas question each day for the past three weeks. So today I ask us this: “Christmas…why WHEN and HOW did it happen?”
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Luke 2:9-14. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.23 “Who are the Christmas Magi?” (Matt. 2 & Daniel)

May I just tell you that I’ve really enjoyed this 21 days’ journey toward Christmas ’24 and attempting to bring one fresh question each day. So, here’s my question for today: WHO are the Christmas Magi? Let’s join these mysterious men today on their journey and see what we can learn about them? Did you know “Magi” appear in other places in the Bible, not just in the Christmas story? Matthew introduces us to the Christmas Magi so let’s begin there in Matt. 2:1… “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” May I point out three very important things in this statement?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Matthew 2. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.21 “What if NO Christmas?” (Is. 8:21-9:2; John 8:12)

This is a very special weekend as we anticipate the arrival of Christmas next week. In our Christmas journey ’24 we’ve been considering “Christmas Questions” over these past three weeks. So how about this question for this weekend: “What if NO Christmas?” Today in many parts of our world “Christmas” is either a non-religious holiday with no spiritual meaning or Christmas simply doesn’t exist! Can you imagine that?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Is. 8:21-9:2; John 8:12. Choose below to read or listen.Is. 8:21-9:2John 8:12
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.20 “Who is Mary?”

I'll never forget the day, a long time ago, that a couple walked into our church whom I'd never seen before. They introduced themselves by saying "Hi, we're Mary and Joseph"! For an instant I was speechless. Immediately the Christmas story came flooding into my mind and a thousand questions rose up in me! Now 30 years later, Joey and Mary, as they like to be called, are still dear friends even though we live 1000 miles apart. So how about you, my friends, do you have questions you'd like to ask Christmas Joseph & Mary? Yesterday we tried to gain fresh insight into who this Christmas Joseph was, the son of Jacob according to Matthew's lineage (Matt. 1:15,16). Today let's ask the question "WHO was Christmas Mary?"
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today's Scripture: Luke 1:46-55. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.19 “WHO was Christmas Joseph?” (Matt. 1:16-25)

In every Live Christmas Nativity scene I wonder if the first two actors needing to be cast are Joseph and Mary? So today and tomorrow, let’s make them the focus of our Christmas question: “WHO are Christmas Joseph & Mary”? Let’s consider Joseph today and tomorrow we’ll look at Mary. The first page of the New Testament is both fascinating and boring, isn’t it? Matthew begins his Gospel account with a long list of names, perhaps you’ve skipped over those names many times in the past. But for Jews that list of names is priceless!
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Matt. 1:16-25. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.18 “Why NAZARETH?” (Matthew 2:16-23)

Yesterday we considered the Christmas question “WHY Nazareth” as we looked at the complicated process required for Joseph, Mary and her infant son miraculous Jesus to end up settling in the village of Nazareth in Galilee. We have only one story in the Bible about the childhood of Jesus growing up in Nazareth and as you may know it’s found in Luke 2:41-52.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Luke 2:41-52; 4:14-30. Choose below to read or listen.Luke 2:41-52
Luke 4:14-30

Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.17 “Why NAZARETH?” (Matthew 2:16-23)

When someone asks you ‘where are you from’, what is your answer? In many cases that question calls for some explanation because birthplace, infancy years, childhood years, teen years and young adult years could all be different places. Do you find it interesting that as an adult Jesus was often referred to as ‘Jesus from Nazareth’, and not “Jesus from Bethlehem’? (Matt. 21:11) WHY? That’s our Christmas question for today… WHY Nazareth?
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Matt. 2:16-23. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.16 “WHY an animal stable, a tiny village, insignificant people?”

Do you find that Christmas brings out the best in all of us? Unless specifically instructed not to, people dress up and come to Christmas gatherings expecting enjoyment and also expecting that things will be done with excellence in music, food and festivities, am I right? WHY? That expectation stirs my Christmas question for today: “WHY a smelly, filthy animal stable; in a tiny village; involving insignificant people; for the Incarnation of God, the birth of King Jesus?”
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Matthew 1:18-25. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? 24.12.15 “WHO was King Herod?”

Our world is a little more than 30 days away from a new American president. In our journey toward Christmas ’24 we’re seeking to answer one Christmas question each day, and so today it’s a government question: “WHO was King Herod and what is his role in the Christmas story”? As you may know Jesus was born during the time in history when the Roman Empire was the global dominant power. The people living in the region of “Israel”, like many other peoples of the world, had an ancient history of being a free, independent nation, but not in the days of the Roman Empire. In fact, the last time prior to Jesus’ birth that Jerusalem was a free city, under the sovereign rule of Israelites, was the days of King Josiah and he had died in 609bc! From then until the days of Jesus, Jerusalem and the region we know as Israel was continually under the authority and control of conquering Gentiles! The Egyptians, the Babylonians, the Persians, the Greeks, the Romans. Now ponder that a moment as you think about your city, your country and whoever the ruling authority is over your part of the world.
(Click here to see full text, images and links)
Today’s Scripture: Matt. 2:1-17. Choose below to read or listen.
Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)

Have a comment or question about today’s chapter?
