Morning Wire XX
[0] Hey, this is Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Vickley with Georgia Howl.
[1] It's Tuesday, November 8th, Election Day, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] White House Press Secretary Karim John Pierre issued a statement on Monday, informing Americans that they should not expect to know the results of the election on election night.
[3] We may not know all the winners of elections for a few days.
[4] It takes time to count all legitimate ballots in a legal and orderly manner.
[5] That's how this is supposed to work.
[6] A variety of pollsters and pundits, including ABC's Isabella Murray, have issued warnings of a so -called red mirage, meaning that GOP leads may diminish or disappear in the days after election as mail -in votes are counted.
[7] Pennsylvania Democratic Lieutenant Governor John Federman's U .S. Senate campaign filed a lawsuit this week against state election officials, arguing that mail -in ballots with an incorrect or missing postage date should be counted in Tuesday's election.
[8] Plaintiffs have asked a federal judge to order all mail -in ballots.
[9] ballots to be counted regardless of the date voters pin on the envelope.
[10] The lawsuit comes a week after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that officials should set aside and not count mail -in ballots with an incorrect or empty date.
[11] The Department of Justice announced Monday that it would be sending federal election monitors to 64 jurisdictions and 24 states to ensure all jurisdictions are remaining compliant with federal voting laws.
[12] In Arizona and New Jersey, voters have experienced some difficulties with voting machines.
[13] In the Garden State, all voting machines went down in each district across Mercer County, according to officials, forcing voters to vote via paper ballot at their polling locations.
[14] And in the Grand Canyon state, at least 10 % of all polling places in Maricopa County experienced problems with voting machine tabulators, according to the Washington Post.
[15] Arizona voters were allowed to place their ballots in a slot in a locked container for counting later tonight.
[16] Here's one poll worker explaining the situation.
[17] So what happens is we have two tabulators.
[18] One of the tabulators is not working, okay?
[19] The other tabulator is taking about 75 % successful.
[20] So 25 % of them are being misread, box three.
[21] So no one's trying to deceive anyway.
[22] Netflix co -CEO Ted Sarandos took a shot at the machine of the Democrat Party in a message published as a digital advertisement ahead of this week's midterm elections.
[23] The advertisement, which was a letter signed by Sarandis that was featured on the Hollywood reporter's website, endorsed Democratic candidate Rick Caruso, a former Republican for mayor of Los Angeles, while claiming that party leadership had failed the city.
[24] In non -election news, Houston law enforcement officials released a statement saying they have arrested a 33 -year -old man for assaulting Senator Ted Cruz during the Houston Astros' World Series victory parade on Monday.
[25] The can of beer that was thrown at Cruz did not appear to be opened and a thud could be heard once it fell into the back of the military Hummer that Cruz was riding in.
[26] Cruz's young daughters were standing next to him when the attack happened.
[27] And according to the New York Post, Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey, billionaire Jeff Bezos, and rapper Jay -Z are teaming up to buy the Washington commanders after current NFL owner Dan Snyder announced his intentions to sell the team last week.
[28] Multiple states are voting today on whether to allow recreational marijuana use.
[29] Arkansas, Maryland, Missouri, North and South Dakota will have legalization on the ballot.
[30] 19 other states, as well as D .C., already allow marijuana to be used for personal reasons.
[31] And 37 states already allow medical marijuana use.
