[8] All right, so President Trump went on a tweet storm on his first day back at work.

[9] Attacking his own Justice Department as a deep state secretly working to undermine his presidency.

[10] Developing now a new war of words with North Korea, President Trump taunting North Korea's leader Kim Jong -un.

[11] Regarding the size of his nuclear launch button.

[12] Bracking in a tweet that he has a bigger and more.

[13] powerful nuclear button than North Korea.

[14] But it doesn't stop there.

[15] The president tonight apparently uncorking another astonishing statement.

[16] The president is teaching little kids a new word.

[17] Quote, why are we having all these people from...

[18] A word, a bad word.

[19] Blank hole.

[20] Asshole.

[21] Shithole countries.

[22] Why do we want these people from, quote, all these shithole countries here?

[23] It appears the federal government is headed for a shutdown.

[24] Day one of the government shutdown.

[25] And right now, no end in sight.

[26] The main issue is immigration.

[27] Democrats want legal status for 800 ,000.

[28] Over the issue of DACA, the program to protect young undocumented.

[29] The president's response direct, no wall, no DACA.

[30] Senator Schumer now says the border wall funding is no longer an option.

[31] All back, and it's not even February yet.

[32] The special counsel's investigation will continue to haunt the Trump administration in 2018.

[33] Special counsel Robert Mueller brought the indictment of 13 Russian nationals on charges they interfered with the presidential race.

[35] Sources tell the New York Times that President Trump ordered the firing of special counsel Robert Mueller, but then backed off.

[36] Robert Mueller has told the president's lawyers he is likely to request an interview with the president.

[73] And I was so, like, mad at everything that I wasn't going to be able to get to do that, and I was going to die and not let my mom know that I loved her.

[74] To the leaders, skeptics, and cynics who told us to sit down and stay silent, welcome to the revolution.

[75] It is a powerful and peaceful one because it is of, by, and for the young people of this country.

[76] Who sit in their gilded house and Senate seats funded by the NRA, telling us nothing could have ever been done.

[79] Senator Rubio, can you tell me right now that you will not accept a single donation from the NRA in the peace?

[80] Do not decrease gun violence.

[81] We call B .S. So right now in the name of 17 people, you cannot ask the NRA to keep their money out of your campaign.

[83] We call B .S. I can pledge to you that I will support any law that will prevent a killer like this.

[88] There have been mass shootings in America in the past.

[89] There have been protests in the past.

[90] But this time that people think something is different.

[92] Tonight, Mark Zuckerberg once again facing skeptical lawmakers, pushing him on Facebook's failure to protect its users' private information.

[93] When did Facebook learn that?

[94] Cambridge Analytica's research project was actually for targeted psychographic political campaign work.

[95] Congresswoman, it might be useful to clarify what actually happened here.

[96] Well, no, I don't have time for a long answer, though.

[97] When did Facebook learn that?

[98] New U .S. tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum are set to take effect 10 days from now.

[99] These tariffs are aimed at China, which U .S. steel makers say depresses prices of steel by dumping steel in the global market.

[100] If this all launches a trade war and other nations slapped tariffs on American products exported overseas, President Trump says trade wars are good and easy to win.

[101] The U .S. Embassy in Israel will officially move to Jerusalem this May. Police trying to establish when and how Russian spy Sergei Scrippel and his daughter were poisoned.

[102] And President Trump is claiming victory after an Allied missile attack on Syria's chemical weapons program.

[103] Harvey Weinstein at one time.

[104] one of the biggest names in the movie business, surrendering to police on sex crime charges.

[105] He was charged and arrested in two sex crimes cases in New York.

[106] It started off all about him.

[107] And he's like, have you seen my new magazine?

[108] And I was like, someone should take that magazine and spank you with it.

[109] And I said, you know, give me that.

[110] And so he did.

[111] And I was like, turn around, drop him.

[112] You told Donald Trump to turn around and take off his pants?

[113] Yes.

[114] And did he?

[115] Yes.

[116] The White House is denying a report that a porn star was paid to keep quiet about President Trump.

[117] And I was like, oh, here we go.

[118] And you had sex with him?

[119] Yes.

[120] The president's lawyer now admits he personally paid Stormy Daniels.

[121] She's the porn star who said she's had an affair with Donald Trump.

[122] Owen told the New York Times that the money came out of his own pocket and that he was not reimbursed by the Trump campaign or company.

[123] The U .S. Attorney for New York's Southern District is in the New York.

[124] investigating Cohen's personal business dealings.

[125] Mueller stumbled upon this stuff and said, look, I'm not in New York.

[126] This doesn't directly read it to me. You guys handled it.

[127] I don't care about what a porn star who has been shown already to be a liar several times.

[128] I really don't care what she says.

[129] And I'm not talking about what she says.

[130] I'm simply going to say she got $130 ,000 for Michael Cohen.

[131] Point is, if that was a payoff to help the president of the election, that could be a violation of federal election crime.

[132] You either think that's a story or you don't.

[133] I'd like to begin by saying, that based on the recent statement of North Korea, I've decided to terminate the planned summit in Singapore on June 12th.

[134] Today in Washington, D .C. summit whiplash.

[135] It's on, then off.

[136] And now the United States North Korea summit appears to be moving full speed ahead.

[137] It will be the first time the leaders of the U .S. and North Korea have the ever met.

[138] This is an important moment for the United States, frankly the world.

[139] There's Kim Jong -un right there, live on your screen right now.

[140] That is unbelievable.

[141] Here comes the President of the United States.

[142] Watch that handshake.

[143] History has been made.

[144] President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong -un finished an unprecedented meeting in Singapore with a deal to start denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.

[145] They did not establish a timetable to meet that goal if it happens.

[146] There was also no mention in the agreement of humans' rights abuses and no specifics on how the deal would get done.

[147] I don't think I ever saw this coming.

[148] I mean, I never thought they would actually do it.

[149] So as a result, I never even imagined what the reaction to it might look like, you know, what the country might think of it, because it just seemed so unlikely.

[150] There has been reports that you are considering separating children from their mothers at the border.

[151] Only if the situation at that point in time requires it.

[152] You know, the mother, if the mother is sick or addicted to drugs or whatever.

[153] So if you thought the child was endangered, that's the only circumstance to which you would separate.

[154] Can't imagine doing it otherwise.

[155] That was never true.

[156] This morning, an immigration mystery.

[157] What happened to nearly 1 ,500 missing unaccompanied migrant children, Where is your task?

[158] The Secretary of Homeland Security claims we do not have a policy of separating families at the border, period.

[159] Jill, don't you have any empathy?

[160] Come on, Sarah, you're a parent.

[161] Don't you have any empathy for what these people are going through?

[162] They have less than you.

[163] Guys, settle down.

[164] If you cross the border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you.

[165] Is that simple.

[166] If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you and that child may be separated from you as required by law.

[167] I hate the children being taken away.

[168] The Democrats have to change their law.

[169] That's their law.

[172] I consider to be a very important executive order.

[173] It's about keeping families together while at the same time being sure that we have a very powerful, very strong border and border security.

[174] Despite President Trump putting an end to family separations, over 2 ,000 children still remain separated from their families today.

[175] More than 2 ,300 children separated from their parents are in limbo.

[176] There are mounting questions about how they'll be reunited and growing confusion within the government.

[177] Even the hardliners who supported family separation are frustrated because it was all for not.

[178] The policy didn't deter people from crossing the border, which was the whole point of family separation in the first place.

[179] My dear Mr. President, this letter is respectful and formal notification of my decision, effective July 31 of this year, to end my regular active service as an associate justice of the Supreme Court.

[180] respectfully and sincerely, Anthony M. Kennedy.

[181] Justice Anthony Kennedy will be retiring.

[182] This will be a major opportunity for President Trump to appoint a new justice to the Supreme Court.

[183] You are going to see 20 states pass laws banning abortion outright because they know that there are now going to be five votes on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. The Supreme Court will be transformed.

[184] One historic summit down, another to go.

[185] Well, it's official.

[186] Trump is scheduled to hold a summit meeting with Vladimir Putin on July 16th in Helsinki.

[187] Breaking news, a major twist ahead of the Trump -Putin summit.

[188] We've heard that 12 Russian intelligence officials have been indicted by the U .S. government.

[189] Twelve Russian military officers knew proof that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.

[190] The White House is confirming that the Trump -Pooten summit is still on.

[191] It was one of the most extraordinary moments between an American president and a Russian leader.

[192] A productive dialogue is not only good for the United States and good for Russia, but it is good for the world.

[193] President Trump asked, who do you believe, President Putin or the U .S. intelligence community?

[194] His answer?

[195] I have President Putin.

[196] He just said it's not Russia.

[197] I will say this.

[198] I don't see any reason why it would be.

[199] The President of the United States sided with Vladimir Putin over the unanimous assessment of the American intelligence community.

[200] For the President of the United States to side with President Putin against American law enforcement, American defense officials, American intelligence agencies is thoughtless, it's dangerous, it's weak.

[201] The president is putting himself over our country.

[203] It happens to be likely the most disruptive day in the Trump presidency so far.

[204] Both the state of New York and Manhattan District Attorney are now looking into Trump's business activities.

[205] President Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to eight charges of financial fraud.

[206] If those payments were a crime for Michael Cohen, then why wouldn't they be a crime for Donald Trump?

[207] Cohen was his guy.

[208] Yeah.

[209] So he was negotiating through 2016.

[210] We know about the There's a lot more that we could learn from Michael Cohen now saying he is willing to tell all he knows to the special prosecutor.

[211] I think the two biggest issues for the president are Michael Cohen's guilty plea, which directly implicates the president and commission of a crime, and then the ongoing Mueller investigation.

[212] And of course, Manafort is out there as well.

[213] Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was found guilty on eight of 18 counts of bank and tax fraud facing him.

[214] Taken together, this is a very serious situation for President Trump.

[215] It appears that Mueller believes the road to the ties between Russia and the Trump campaign goes through Manafort and Cohen.

[216] Only time, of course, will tell.

[217] A very bad day for President Trump.

[218] After declaring that Bill Cosby is a sexually violent predator, a judge sentenced the once beloved actor to three to ten years behind bars.

[219] And he's going to have to have time to think about what he did to Andrea and the rest of us women.

[220] Cosby also becomes the first high -profile figure to be convicted and sentenced during this Me Too movement.

[221] Meanwhile, fired CBS anchor Charlie Rose may be planning to spin his own downfall into a comeback.

[222] Bill O 'Reilly is reportedly planning a return to cable news.

[223] Disgraced NBC anchor Matt Lauer could be returning to television.

[224] Meanwhile, Louis C .K. on the stand -up stage for the first time in months.

[225] Many are asking, should the accused be shunned first?

[226] Tonight, it is my honor and privilege to announce that I will nominate Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court.

[227] A woman has come forward publicly accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of assaulting her at a party more than 30 years ago.

[228] The woman's letter says that during an encounter at a party, Kavanaugh held her down and that he attempted to force himself on her.

[229] When she tried to scream, he put his hand over her mouth.

[230] She says she thought that he would kill her.

[231] Kavanaugh and a friend the woman claims was also in the room at the time, both deny the accusation.

[232] They will look at what she had to say from 36 years ago, and we will see what happens.

[233] I am terrified.

[234] I am here because I believe it is my civic duty to tell you what happens.

[235] to me while Brett Kavanaugh and I were in high school.

[236] Indelible in the hippocampus is the laughter, the uproarious laughter between the two, and they're having fun at my expense.

[237] This whole two -week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit, fueled with apparent pen -up anger about President Trump.

[238] and the 2016 election, revenge on behalf of the Clintons, and millions of dollars in money from outside left -wing opposition groups.

[239] You're saying there's never been a case where you drank so much that you didn't remember what happened the night before or part of what happened.

[240] You're asking about blackout.

[241] I don't know.

[244] It's just to you have, that's not happened.

[297] Facebook is receiving criticism again today for how it handled evidence of Russian election interference on the social network.

[298] The mystery deepens tonight over the fate of Jamal Khashoggi.

[299] Jamal Khashoggi, a respected Saudi Arabian journalist.

[301] The CIA has concluded now that the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman personally ordered the murder.

[304] Meanwhile, uncertainty over the U .S.-China trade deal is casting a shadow over an economy.

[307] The midterm election is less than two weeks away, and the question now is, will there be a blue wave or just a ripple.

[308] This is one of the most important elections of our entire lives.

[309] With just 20 days until the midterm elections, voter suppression is a real issue.

[312] Shaping up to be a key issue in the midterms.

[313] The fight over Brett Kavanaugh, as we've been reporting, has sparked partisan fury.

[314] But gun control is not at the top of the list, as many said it would be.

[315] Democrats and Republicans running full speed ahead.

[316] President Trump is about to get very, very busy.

[317] an eight -state campaign blitz.

[318] Tomorrow, the voters of this state will cast their ballots in one of the most important Senate elections of your lives of all of our lives.

[320] It's finally here.

[321] A decision in 2018, it is another election day in America.

[322] We do have our first flip of the night from red to blue.

[323] CNN can now project that Democrats will win the majority in the U .S. House of the Senate.

[325] This is a huge win for the Democrats, a huge setback for the President and for the Republicans.

[326] We don't only welcome immigrants, we send them to Washington.

[327] We voted and we won, and we did all of this together.

[328] More than 100 women will serve on Capitol Hill in the next term, first time ever.

[329] More than two dozen of them for the first time.

[330] But the GOP added to its narrow majority in the Senate after the President's last -minute campaign blitz.

[332] The new Congress will be divided with Democrats leading the House and Republicans in charge of the Senate.

[333] A divided Congress for a divided nation.

[334] And this is going to be a big problem for President Trump going forward.

[335] If he thinks that the media is annoying, wait until he meets a Democratic House that has subpoena power, and actually has the legal ability to force them to turn over documents, we're going to look like nothing compared to that.

[336] For Democrats, these are the same.

[337] spoils victory.

[338] They can now launch investigations, issue subpoenas, even demand tax returns.

[339] Democrat Nita Lowy, set to chair the powerful appropriations committee, checked off a laundry list of potential areas for inquiry.

[340] The travel ban?

[341] Yes.

[342] The family separation policy.

[343] Absolutely.

[344] Hurricane relief in Puerto Rico.

[345] Oh, it was absolutely inadequate.

[346] You have all those critical chairmanship, House oversight, House intelligence, look at the rebirth of many lines of the Russia investigation.

[348] democratically controlled House of Representatives voting for impeachment.

[349] If we don't get what we want one way or the other, whether it's through you, through a military, through anything you want to call, I will shut down the government.

[350] Okay, fair enough.

[351] And I am proud, and I'll tell you what.

[352] If you watch Tuesday's spectacle in the Oval Office, you got a preview of what to expect in 2019 when Democrats take over the House.

[353] So the scene is already set for some fiery months ahead.

[354] Will Mueller move to indict anyone in the president's immediate circle?

[355] Will anyone at Facebook be held accountable for anything?

[356] Will President Trump and the House Democrats end up in an impeachment fight by the end of the year?

[357] Will a dispute arising out of the Mueller investigation reach the Supreme Court?

[358] And what will it do?

[359] How much of an issue will climate change be in the 2020 presidential campaign?

[360] How will Nancy Pelosi hold House Democrats together?

[361] Will the year of the woman in 2018 helped Democrats get over their fears about nominating?

[363] Will the Trump administration ramp up its tightening policies and practices around immigration?

[364] Where will the major terror attacks of 2019 happen?

[365] Well, the North Koreans conclude they're never really going to get sanctions lifted and go back to launching missiles and testing nukes.

[368] Will Democrats get President Trump's tax returns?
