[1] It's Tuesday, July 25th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[2] House Speaker Kevin McCarthy doubled down on Tuesday, saying that the Republican -controlled chamber is moving closer toward an impeachment inquiry against President Biden.

[3] The speaker says the inquiry would surround allegations that the president accepted millions of dollars in bribes from foreign countries.

[4] McCarthy made his first comments on Monday night.

[5] I believe we will follow this all the way to the end, and this is going to rise to an impeachment inquiry, the way the Constitution tells us to do this, and we have to get the answers to these questions.

[6] McCarthy's remarks come after Senator Chuck Grassley released an FBI -generated form last week, in which a confidential source told the FBI that Burisma co -founder and CEO Mikola Zelchewski claimed that he was coerced by the Bidens into paying millions of dollars in bribes.

[7] In exchange, the then -Vice president, President pressured Ukraine to fire a prosecutor who is investigating Burisma.

[8] The art gallery where Hunter Biden's paintings are featured sold one of his works to a top Democrat donor who is a friend of the Biden family and was, according to a new report, named by the president to a prestigious commission.
