Morning Wire XX
[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire editor -in -chief John Bickley.
[1] It's Monday, August 14th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] Confusion sprang up on Monday after the Fulton County Court in Georgia published a document on its website appearing to show that former President Donald Trump was being charged over a slew of crimes, including RICO violations, only for that document to be taken down almost immediately after.
[3] The grand jury in Fulton County, where the district attorney Fannie Willis is expected to bring charges this week, is reportedly still meeting today and tomorrow to discuss any potential indictments against Trump for his actions relating to the 2020 election.
[4] The Trump team and his supporters used the incident to castigate Willis and claim it was further proof that the justice system was rigged against the potential 2024 GOP nominee.
[5] President Biden is catching heat for his remarks or lack thereof in the wake of the tragedy unfolding in Maui.
[6] While in Rehoboth Beach, Sunday afternoon, the president was asked by the press for his reaction to the blaze that has killed more than 90 people and caused billions of dollars in property damage.
[7] He responded by saying he had no comment.
[8] Here's the clip.
[9] The president.
[10] Talk about the Hawaii response, Mr. President.
[11] The president did authorize federal emergency aid for the Aloha State as it recovers from the devastating wildfire.
[12] The House Oversight Committee recently released a transcript of a former FBI agent claiming, that Joe Biden's 2020 transition team and members of the Secret Service were notified of the Bureau's plans to interview Hunter Biden in December of 2020 and that that led to the interview of Hunter getting shut down.
[13] The anonymous agent's testimony corroborated other FBI and IRS whistleblower complaints.
[14] A new report from Moody's analytics shows that the typical American household is paying $709 more per month for the same goods and services as it was two years ago.
[15] That cost increase reflects the high rate of inflation that has plagued much of the Biden presidency.
[16] A judge in Montana has sided with young environmental activists in a case that could set legal precedent, saying state agencies were violating a constitutional right to a healthy, clean environment.
[17] The activists say that the state permitted fossil fuel development without considering its effect on the climate, therefore contributing to climate change.
[18] District court judge Kathy Seeley found the policy the state uses in the climate.
[19] evaluating requests for fossil fuel permits unconstitutional.
[20] Argentine voters rejected the country's two main political forces in a primary election on Sunday and put their support behind libertarian candidate Javier Malay.
[21] Malay got just over 30 % of the vote and now heads for the general election set for October 22nd.
[22] The shakeup comes after power was traded between two mainstream political coalitions for the last decade.
[23] And in professional sports, the MLB is investigating social media claims that the Tampa Bay Ray's shortstop Wander Franco is in an inappropriate relationship with a 14 -year -old from the Dominican Republic.
[24] The accusations popped up on Twitter and Instagram in recent days, and Franco did not play Sunday night's game.
[25] He left the team's dugout in the fifth inning.
[26] After the game, the race issued a statement saying that the team was made aware of the social media posts that are circulating regarding Wander Franco, and that the team takes the situation seriously and is in close contact with the league as it conducts its due diligence.
[27] All right, those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
