[2] President Biden announced Wednesday that the U .S. will be releasing 15 million more barrels of oil from the country's Strategic Petroleum Reserve in an attempt to combat spiking gas prices.
[3] Today I'm announcing three critical steps that my administration will take to reduce gas prices at the pump.
[4] First, the Department of Energy will release another 15 ,000.
[5] million barrels from the Strategic Patrol and Reserve, extending our previously announced release through the month of December.
[6] Russian President Vladimir Putin declared martial law on Wednesday in portions of Ukraine that the Kremlin is attempting to annex.
[7] The annexations run afoul of international law.
[8] Davis Smith, the founder of popular clothing and gear outfitter, Cotapoxi, wrote a scathing goodbye letter to San Francisco, saying he's pulling out because it has descended into a city of chaos.
[9] Smith said that the near -daily crime has left him no choice but to shudder the store he opened in a charming shopping district a year ago.
[10] The CEO also said that the city's refusal to reinforce safety and punish theft makes it impossible to run the business.
[11] A Catholic priest was the latest victim of carjacking in Philadelphia.
[12] According to reports, four suspects attacked the 64 -year -old priest and stole his vehicle as he was unloading a wheelchair from his trunk this week.
[13] The city of Brotherly Love has recorded more than 1 ,000.
[14] and carjackings in 2022 alone, as cities across the country struggle with rising crime.
[15] Philadelphia's DA, Larry Krasner, defended his policies on Fox News in late September.
[16] We've had a devastating blow from the pandemic, and there is absolutely no correlation between being progressive or traditional and the rate of crime.
[17] These states in the United States that have a rate of homicide that is 40 % higher are MAGA states.
[18] They are Trump states.
[19] New York is opening a tent facility on Randall's Island for migrants today.
[20] The shelter has beds to fit around 500 single men and has a recreation area and cafeteria.
[21] Record numbers of Georgia voters have turned out on the first day of early voting for the midterm elections.
[22] 131 ,000 people have already cast their ballots in one of the most hotly contested Senate races this cycle, twice as many as turned out on the first day of voting in 2018.
[23] According to local media, many Georgians say they voted early out of convenience.
[24] I wanted to make sure that I could vote.
[25] I don't know what's going to happen on the 8.
[26] The National Hockey League announced a new plan to increase diversity in its workforce, citing a new study that 84 % of all personnel are white.
[27] Kim Davis, the NHL's Executive Vice President of Social Impact, growth in legislative affairs, claimed that the study was necessary for overall improvement within the league.
[28] I think the thing that you should take away from the workforce study is that it is a progressive outlook.
[29] And President Biden is promising that the first bill he'll send to Capitol Hill next year if Democrats retain control will be one that writes abortion protections into law.
[30] The announcement comes just two weeks before the midterm elections.
