Morning Wire XX
[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.
[1] It's Friday, September 6th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] The judge and Donald Trump's hush money trial has delayed sentencing until after the election.
[3] Lawyers for the former president requested the postponement, arguing it would allow time to challenge his conviction and avoid potential election interference.
[4] This is the second time Judge Juan Mershahn has postponed the Senate.
[5] which may include jail time for the former president.
[6] It also comes just a day after American first legal announced a lawsuit against Mershon for refusing to turn over his financial disclosures amid questions about his political bias and his daughter's work at a democratic firm.
[7] The Dow Jones dropped 352 points or 0 .9 % today after the Labor Department released a poorer than expected jobs report.
[8] According to the report, the American labor market added just 142 ,000.
[9] thousand jobs in August, significantly below the anticipated 161 ,000.
[10] The news stoked fear among investors about a market slowdown and increases the likelihood of a rate cut this month during the Fed's September meeting.
[11] This also follows the largest jobs data revision since the recession of 2009.
[12] Last month, job growth figures for the last year were corrected down by over 800 ,000.
[13] Donald Trump laid out several new economic policies and a speech to the Economic Club of New York on Thursday.
[14] He spoke to about 650 business leaders, where he announced his government efficiency task force, major cuts in regulations, and the centerpiece of his speech, a reduction in the corporate tax rate from 21 % to 15%, but only for companies that make their products in the U .S. To further support the revival of American manufacturing, my plan calls for expanded R &D tax credits, 100 % bonus depreciation.
[15] expensing for new manufacturing investments and a reduction in the corporate tax rate from 21 % to 15 % solely for companies that make their product in America.
[16] If you outsource offshore or replace American workers, you are not eligible for any of these benefits.
[17] In fact, you will pay a very substantial tariff on that product.
[18] My message is simple.
[19] Make your product here in America, and only in America.
[20] We are not going to be taken advantage of anymore.
[21] Trump's proposal was well received by the group and is in sharp contrast to Democrat Kamala Harris's policy, which would raise the corporate tax rate from 21 to 28%.
[22] France's president, Emmanuel Macron, has named a new prime minister.
[23] The appointment of Michel Barnier comes months after Macron called for a snap election that resulted in a hung parliament, with no party having a majority.
[24] Barnier is described as a moderate to conservative who helped negotiate Brexit for the European Union.
[25] Marine Le Pen's national party has tentatively backed Barnier, but analysts warn that its support could be withdrawn if key issues like immigration and security are not prioritized.
[26] Barnier's political survival now hinges on maintaining the balance between Macron's agenda and Le Pen's demands.
[27] Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Dorov has addressed his indictment by French.
[28] authorities.
[29] In a post on his telegram channel, Durav criticized the charges against him as, quote, misguided.
[30] Durav defended telegrams saying they have removed millions of posts that break the rules.
[31] Durav was indicted in Paris on charges that included spreading child abuse images and drug trafficking and has been placed under court monitoring.
[32] Two Nigerian brothers were sentenced to over 17 years in federal prison for sexually extorting teenage boys in the U .S. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the details.
[33] The brothers pleaded guilty to their roles in an international sextortion ring that targeted more than 100 victims, including a Michigan teen who committed suicide.
[34] The brothers were extradited from Nigeria to face charges and admitted to conspiring to exploit young men by posing as a female online.
[35] The Nigerians would then convince the boys to send sexually explicit photos of themselves.
[36] Once they had the photos, they would threaten to publish them unless they were paid.
[37] The judge said the brothers showed a callous disregard for life by continuing their schemes, even after the Michigan teen took his own life.
[38] A hiker missing since July 31st was found alive and well today in North Cascades National Park.
[39] Authorities were notified on August 3rd that there was an abandoned vehicle at the trailhead.
[40] The same day, a dog belonging to the hiker Robert Schock was also found several miles into the park.
[41] A helicopter search on August 7th was unsuccessful, as was a ground search on August 16th.
[42] Shocks survived more than five weeks without any camping equipment.
[43] And MMA champion Connor McGregor appears to be running for president of Ireland.
[44] In a post on X, he said, Ireland needs an active president employed wholly by the people of Ireland.
[45] It is me. I am the only logical choice.
[46] 2025 is upcoming.
[47] As of now, he has yet to make a formal announcement beyond the X post.
