[0] I'm Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Vickley with Georgia Howe.

[1] It's Tuesday, October 3rd, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[2] In a 216 to 210 vote, the GOP -controlled House has voted to take the gavel away from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

[3] Eight Republicans joined with Democrats to oust the House Speaker this afternoon.

[4] This comes after GOP Florida Congressman Matt Gates filed a motion to vacate the Speaker's chair last night.

[5] McCarthy and his supporters say that.

[6] that Gates was on a personal vendetta, while Gates says that McCarthy has failed to deliver on his promises to the American people.

[7] McCarthy called for a vote this morning saying he was confident he would survive.

[8] But as the day went on, the speaker changed his tune.

[9] affecting Democrats to back you left in?

[10] No, I personally am not.

[11] Do you need their help to remain in leadership?

[12] No. If five Republicans go with Democrats, then I'm out.

[13] So it's whether, probably so.

[14] This is the first time in U .S. history that a Speaker of the House has been voted out of office.

[15] President Biden's son, Hunter Biden, pleaded not guilty this morning to a trio of felony gun charges at a federal courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware.

[16] Daily Wire senior editor, Joel Needler, has the latest.

[17] A federal grand jury indicted 53 -year -old Biden last month on counts related to his purchase of a cult cobra revolver while he was a drug addict in October 2018.

[18] Biden faces a maximum of 25 years in prison and up to $750 ,000 in fines if convicted.

[19] After Biden pleaded not guilty, the judge explained the terms of his release, which reportedly included supervision by a U .S. probation officer in the Central District of California, seeking employment, and not using drugs or alcohol.

[20] The first son is being prosecuted after a plea deal with Delaware's U .S. attorney David Weiss collapsed after a judge raised concerns about immunity.

[21] Democratic Representative Henry Quayar was carjacked at gunpoint in Washington, D .C. on Monday night.

[22] The congressman whose district is on the U .S. southern border was unharmed and his car was recovered roughly an hour later.

[23] Quayar addressed the incident this morning.

[24] Yeah, I was just coming into my place.

[25] Three guys came out of nowhere and they pointed guns at me. So they said they wanted my car.

[26] I said, sure.

[27] You've got to keep calm in those citizens.

[28] and then they took off.

[29] They recovered the car.

[30] They recovered everything.

[31] What really got me upset was they took by sushi.

[32] But anyway, that's something else.

[33] And they did recover the sushi after all.

[34] Now congressional officials are calling on the house to crack down on D .C. crime.

[35] This week, a new zero cash bail policy went into effect in Los Angeles County.

[36] Now the majority of people arrested in L .A. will be released from custody rather than kept in jail on cash bail, unless they are accused of the most serious of crimes.

[37] Critics say it will now allow dangerous criminals to remain on the streets, but L .A. District Attorney George Gascone defended the policy in an interview with Fox 11, L .A., Monday night.

[38] I believe that how much money you have in your bank account should not determine whether you're going to get out or not.

[39] I strongly believe that if you have an open case, you should not be released.

[40] If we determine that you're a danger to our community, you should not be released.

[41] it doesn't matter how much money you have.

[42] On the other hand, if it doesn't appear that you're a danger to our community, you don't have other open cases, we have a whole structure that's being built around releasing a person and allowing the person show up for court when they're being cited.

[43] The New York judge presiding over the civil fraud trial of former President Trump deflated Trump's claims of a win scored yesterday in the early hours of the trial.

[44] Today, Judge Arthur Engaron said that, quote, Statutes of Limitations, bar claims, not evidence.

[45] And at least during the trial's early stages, he will allow some flexibility to connect older evidence to claims in the lawsuit.

[46] Yesterday, Judge Engeron suggested some testimony used in New York Attorney General Letitia James lawsuit might be beyond the legal time limit for when it could be used.

[47] Relevant statute of limitations rules out related claims from before a date in 2014.

[48] Trump's legal team has argued that the time limit cuts off most.

[49] most of the case.

[50] The nine -year -old girl who was missing in upstate New York was found safe Monday evening after she disappeared Saturday at Morrow Lake State Park.

[51] Now a suspect has been arrested in her alleged kidnapping.

[52] Officials say that during the two -day search for Charlotte Sina, police watched her family's home.

[53] Craig Nelson Ross Jr. was allegedly spotted dropping a ransom note at the family's home at 4 .20 a .m. on Monday.

[54] Police then fingerprinted it and IDed Ross due to a 1999 DWI infraction.

[55] Authorities later arrested Ross at a camper and rescued Charlotte.

[56] New York Governor Kathy Hochel addressed the incident late Monday night.

[57] What happened was extraordinary.

[58] This is a very good day.

[59] It's been a long two days, but tonight our prayers have been answered.

[60] We're overcome with relief and gratitude for this gift to all of us.

[61] And it is the people standing here with me. They remind me why I'm so proud to be the governor of this state.

[62] Incredible men and women who were relentless in their pursuit of finding this little girl.

[63] Sweden is turning to its military to curb violent crime that is soared alongside immigrant gang activity across the country.

[64] Here with more as Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce.

[65] Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Christerson said Friday that he planned to ask the country's military to help police combat gang violence.

[66] The Prime Minister blamed the country's surging crime problem.

[67] on Swedish immigration policies and the violent migrants driving gang activity.

[68] Swedish police authorities say the security situation is the worst it's been since World War II.

[69] Christerson said he, quote, cannot emphasize enough how serious the situation is.

[70] Sweden has never seen anything like it before.
