[5] I'm Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Vickley with Georgia Howl.

[6] It's Tuesday, July 30th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[7] Israel says it carried out a strike on a terror target in the Lebanese capital of Beirut.

[8] The strike came in retaliation.

[9] to the Hezbollah attack that killed 12 children in northern Israel.

[10] Reports suggest the target was a senior advisor to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

[11] A loud blast and smoke were reported in Beirut's southern suburbs.

[12] In a post on X, the Israeli defense force stated that they carried out the strike on a commander responsible for the murder of children in Majdal Shams and the killing of numerous additional Israeli civilians.

[13] The acting secret service director told the Senate today that the attempt on former President Trump's life was a, quote, failure of the Secret Service, not local law enforcement.

[14] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce says more.

[15] Acting Director Ronald Rowe Jr. appearing before the Senate Judiciary and Homeland Security committees cited a drone detection system failure on July 13th.

[16] The system, which depends on public cell phone service, faced bandwidth issues, delaying its activation until after the shooter had surveyed the area by drone.

[17] During questioning from Senator Chuck Grassley, Roe acknowledged the failure and committed to ensuring future operational integrity.

[18] That is something that has cost me a lot of sleep.

[19] It is something that I have struggled with to understand, and I have no explanation for it.

[20] It is something that I feel as though we could have perhaps found him.

[21] We could have maybe stopped him.

[22] Maybe on that particular day, he would have decided this isn't the day to do it, because law enforcement just found me flying my drone.

[23] In another heated exchange, Senator Josh Hawley press row over why several agents involved have not been relieved of duty.

[24] I cannot.

[25] A lot of people didn't do their jobs.

[26] I cannot put my thumb on the scale.

[27] What do you mean put your thumb on scale?

[28] The objective, the object.

[29] You're asking me, Senator, to completely make a rush to judgment about somebody failing.

[30] I acknowledge this was a failure of the secret.

[31] Is it not prima facie that somebody has failed?

[32] A former president was shot.

[33] Sir, this could have been our Texas school book depository.

[34] I have lost sleep over that for the last 17 days.

[35] Then just like you have somebody.

[36] And I will tell you, Senator.

[37] North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper says he has removed himself from consideration as the running mate for Kamala Harris.

[38] In a post on X last night, Cooper expressed his strong support for Harris but said, quote, this just wasn't the right time for North Carolina and for me to potentially be on a national ticket.

[39] Following his statement, Cooper spoke on an organizing call titled White Dudes for Harris and focused on boosting Harris's candidacy.

[40] Here's a bit from that.

[41] You've seen it with congressional leaders who have called Vice President Harris a DEI candidate.

[42] Real men respect women, their decisions, their careers.

[43] Other potential running mates for Harris include Arizona Senator Mark Kelly and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

[47] A homeland security memo obtained by the New York Post states that violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua has been given the green light to attack Denver cops.

[48] Daily Wire reporter Amanda Presta Giacomo has the latest.

[49] The gang has been linked to numerous crimes, including the shooting of two NYPD officers.

[50] Members of Tren D 'Aragua have reportedly posed as asylum seekers in order to gain entry to the U .S. The memo warns of the gang's presence in Chicago and urges vigilance.

[51] This comes as the city of Denver has just received 42 ,000 migrants, many of whom are Venezuelan.

[52] The Biden administration recently designated Trendieragua as a transnational criminal organization, offering a $12 million reward for its leaders' arrests.

[53] Here's former Border Patrol agent to Edmund Blair explaining the gang's typical crime patterns.

[54] They typically operate mostly on migrant smuggling.

[55] and human trafficking.

[56] Those are their two big criminal enterprises.

[57] They also use forms of extortion by going to local businesses that are owned by these migrant communities.

[58] And if they don't pay a tax, they extort that money from them.

[59] The Kids Online Safety Act easily passed the Senate today in a 91 -3 vote.

[60] Here with Morris Daily Wire, Senior Editor, Joel Needler.

[61] The bill was co -written by Senators Marsha Blackburn and Richard Blumenthal, a Republican and Democrat, respectively.

[62] It would hold tech companies liable to a, quote, duty of care to protect children from harmful content online, everything from cyberbullying to self -harm to sexual exploitation.

[63] Morningwire spoke with Blackburn about why the bill is important.

[64] In the physical world, we have laws that protect children.

[65] You can't sell a child, alcohol, tobacco.

[66] You can't take them to a strip club.

[67] But in the virtual space, they're exposed to that every day.

[68] When our kids are online, they're the product, and big tech is making a lot of money off of our kids when they are online.

[69] That's how they make their revenue with advertisers, and they are putting profits over our children, and it has to stop.

[70] The bill has been opposed by activist groups across the political spectrum who worry about topics such as transgenderism and abortion being censored in the name of child safety.

[71] Republican Senator Rand Paul said that.

[72] the bill has, quote, a number of vague provisions and undefined terms, suggesting First Amendment concerns.

[73] Still, it won't be enacted anytime soon as it heads to a house currently on a six -week recess.

[74] And two Olympic boxers are being allowed to compete against women despite being biological males.

[75] The boxers from Algeria and Taiwan were banned from the International Boxing Association World Championships last year after the president said DNA tests, quote, proved they had X -Y chromosomes.

[76] Despite the controversy, the International Olympic Committee allowed the men to participate in the women's division.
