[5] The Supreme Court has released several rulings today, including a rejection of the nationwide settlement with opioid maker Purdue Pharma.
[6] Daily Wire reporter Spencer Lindquist has the latest.
[7] In a 5 to 4 decision, the court ruled that the Sackler family cannot be shielded from future legal action tied to opioid abuse.
[8] The court found such protections violate bankruptcy laws.
[9] The ruling also puts billions of dollars in opioid crisis relief in jeopardy.
[10] Justices also ruled on abortion in Idaho.
[11] In a 6 to 3 decision, the court ruled that hospitals in Idaho will be required to perform emergency abortions, but avoided making a wider ruling on the subject due to other pending litigations.
[12] In another decision, SCOT has blocked a Biden administration rule on interstate air pollution in a five -to -four decision.
[13] The regulation was aimed at curbing harmful air pollution that crosses from one state to another and contributes to smog.
[14] An illegal immigrant in upstate New York has been arrested for the alleged abduction and rape of a 15 -year -old girl.

[16] According to court documents, the 21 -year -old Turkey National threatened the girl with a metal pole if she didn't get in his car.
[17] The man then drove the teenage girl to a secluded location and assaulted her.
[18] The migrant who entered the country illegally faces a slew of charges, including first -degree rape.
[19] He was caught by police last week and is expected to appear in court later this week.
[20] Police and Democratic lawmakers upstate are being accused of covering up the incident.
[21] In a tweet, Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin said, quote, a 15 -year -old girl raped by an illegal alien in the city of Albany and the public doesn't get notified?
[22] We're supposed to believe this wasn't covered up by the city administration.
[23] And meanwhile, Albany's police chief claims a suspect's immigration status was not known until after his arraignment.
[24] A newly released projection of the 2024 presidential race presents some good news for Donald Trump ahead of tonight's debate.
[25] Daily Wire's senior editor Ash Short has the numbers.
[26] Statistician and pollster Nate Silver released his predictions for the 2024 presidential election yesterday.
[27] His analysis gave former president Donald Trump a 66 % chance of, winning the election based on 40 ,000 simulations of voting tendencies.
[28] In his review of the data, Silver said, quote, you'd expect Biden to be in deep trouble if the popular vote is roughly tied.
[29] Silver's analysis favored Biden in the popular vote 51 to 49.
[30] And it's worth noting, Silver is not a conservative.
[31] In that same article, he said, The candidate who I honest to God think has a better chance isn't the candidate I'd rather have win.

[35] South Korean military officials are downplaying concerns over North Korean missile tests, which would signal stunning new progress from the totalitarian state.
[36] Daily Wire contributor Matthew Sanofsky has the latest.
[37] North Korea's military, launched three missiles yesterday, which they say were successful tests of multi -target technology.
[38] That means one missile that can split off to hit multiple targets.
[39] This sort of technology is more difficult to defend against and would significantly raise the country's threat to the United States and its allies.
[40] However, South Korea's joint chiefs of staff dismissed the tests as, quote, deceptive and exaggerated.
[41] While North Korea has come clean on recent military failures, it does have a history of lying about weapons advancements.
[42] Notably, North Korea uses a technology.
[43] based on old Soviet missiles and signed a defense pact with Russia just last week.
[44] Soldiers in Bolivia attempted to take control of the nation's government yesterday.
[45] The army's former top general Juan Jose Zuniga led troops who repeatedly slammed the presidential palace with armored vehicles.
[46] Zuniga said he wanted to restore democracy and free the nation's political prisoners.
[47] Tensions eased after he was arrested in Bolivia's new commanding general ordered the troops to go home.
[48] Some people have been speculating that this was actually a self -coup.
[49] Here's International Relations and Politics Professor Eduardo Gamara on CBS.
[50] This is a coup that was largely orchestrated by the sitting president as a way to regain strength and to position himself well for next year's election.
[51] But I'm sure that now in the aftermath of this, there will be claims that there were foreign powers behind the coup and that the opposition was behind the coup.
[52] But largely it's a little bit of political theater more than anything else.
[53] And the alleged Highland Park shooter rejected a plea deal yesterday, stunning the victim's families.
[54] The suspect reportedly stared into the court gallery before declining a deal that the prosecutor said he'd previously agreed to.
[55] The suspect now faces 55 charges, including seven counts of first -degree murder.
[56] While his mother celebrated, families of the victims said the move was heartbreaking, and evil.
