[0] I'm Daily Wire, Editor -in -Chief John Bickley with Georgia Howe.

[1] It's Thursday, October 26th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[2] 18 people are dead and 13 others are injured after one man went on a shooting spree last night in Lewiston, Maine.

[3] Maine Governor Janet Mills addressed the tragedy today as the prime suspect remains at large.

[4] The full weight of my administration is behind law enforcement's efforts to capture the person of interest Robert Carr, to hold whoever is responsible for this atrocity, accountable, and to seek full justice for the victims and their families.

[5] Here with the latest is Daily Wire Senior Editor Cabot Phillips.

[6] Main State Police say they've issued an arrest warrant for a 40 -year -old Robert Card from the nearby community of Bowden.

[7] We typically do not name mass shooting suspects due to company policy unless the suspect is at large and doing so may help law enforcement apprehend the suspect.

[8] The warrant charges card with eight counts of murder.

[9] The number the law enforcement officials say is almost certain to rise.

[10] Here's Colonel William Ross of the Maine State Police.

[11] The reason it's eight counts because 10 people have not yet been identified.

[12] As those people are identified, the counts will probably go to the total of 18.

[13] He should be considered armed and dangerous.

[14] Based on our investigation, we believe this is someone that should not be approached.

[15] The suspect had previously been labeled a person of interest in the shootings, which happened last night at a bowling alley and a restaurant about four miles away.

[16] Police say that seven people were killed inside the bowling alley, eight people were killed at a restaurant, and three more victims died at a local hospital for a total of 18.

[17] Israeli troops and tanks entered Gaza overnight for a short time and hit several targets as a larger ground invasion looms.

[18] According to the Associated Press, the conflict is already the deadliest of five Gaza wars for both sides.

[19] The Hamas -run Gaza Health Ministry claimed today that over 7 ,000 Palestinians have died thus far, though it's important to note that figures given by Hamas officials cannot be independently verified.

[20] According to Israeli officials, the number of remaining hostages in Gaza now stands at 222, that includes foreigners captured by Hamas during the October 7th attack.

[21] Four hostages have been released so far.

[22] U .S. officials fear the fighting could spill over into a wider regional conflict.

[23] More than two dozen people, are said to be dead and at least four are missing after Hurricane Otis battered Acapulco Mexico as a Category 5 storm early Wednesday morning.

[24] That's according to Acapulco's mayor who briefed the public in a news conference earlier this morning.

[25] Akapulco's general hospital also saw severe damage from the storm forcing around 200 patients to be transferred to other medical facilities.

[26] The storm brought heavy rain and windy conditions that the city hadn't seen in decades.

[27] Landslides and floods followed as one of the main rivers in Acapulco overflowed.

[28] The United Auto Workers Union and Ford have come to terms on a tentative agreement that could bring to an end a nearly six -week strike.

[29] According to those with knowledge of the discussions, the agreement still needs to be approved by UAW members, thousands of whom have walked off the jobs at factories throughout the U .S. Both Ford and the Union took part in negotiations earlier this week, making attempts to finalize the deal.

[30] The negotiations involved a proposed increase to workers' wages of at least 25 % as well as other benefit improvements.

[31] Here's UAW President Sean Fane talking about the deal.

[32] Everything we did at the bargaining table, every extra $100 million we got the company to give up was because of you, the members.

[33] And the next steps are also up to you, because the members are the highest authority in our union.

[34] We send this contract to you because we know it breaks records.

[35] We know it will change lives.

[36] But what happens next is up to you all.

[37] Democratic Congressman Jamal Bowman of New York pled guilty today to falsely pulling a fire alarm, which he did in a House office building on Capitol Hill last month.

[38] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.

[39] Bowman's plea is part of a deferred prosecution agreement.

[40] The deal requires both.

[41] to pay a fine of $1 ,000 and write an apology letter to the U .S. Capitol Police Chief.

[42] In return, prosecutors have agreed to dismiss the charges as long as he doesn't break any other laws during a three -month probationary period.

[43] Bowman will return to court this coming January to confirm his compliance and officially dismissed the charges against him.

[44] Bowman set off the fire alarm on September 30th in the Cannon House Office building as lawmakers were about to vote on a spending measure to prevent a shutdown.

[45] The U .S. economy surged more than expected in its third quarter.

[46] Gross domestic product, which measures U .S. produced goods and services, rose at a 4 .9 % annualized pace from July to September.

[47] According to the Commerce Department, that's up from 2 .1 % in the second quarter.

[48] Consumer spending, increased inventories, residential investment, and government spending all contributed to the unexpected rise.

[49] Economists say the rise will not affect the Federal Reserve's.

[50] decision to hold rates steady at its meeting next week.

[51] When we look at some of the underlying data in the Q3 report, the resilience of businesses, the resilience of the consumer.

[52] But broadly speaking, the labor market is still extremely tight.

[53] So the Fed is looking at all of these data, juxtaposed with inflation that's still too high.

[54] I think the committee is going to have a very difficult time selling a prolonged period of a pause.
