Morning Wire XX
[0] I'm Daily Wire, editor -in -chief John Bickley, with Georgia Howe.
[1] It's Thursday, September 28th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] This is a tale as old as time.
[3] Politician takes action that makes money for his family, and then he tries to conceal it.
[4] House Republicans held their first impeachment inquiry into President Biden today regarding his alleged involvement in his son's business dealings.
[5] Republicans presented all current evidence uncovered in the Biden family financial probe.
[6] During the inquiry, oversight chairman, Representative James Comer, said the evidence will show that the elder Biden, quote, abused his public office for his family's financial gain.
[7] Democrats pushed back against what they call baseless accusations.
[8] Here's Representative Jamie Raskin.
[9] We've held hearings and conducted interviews with everybody from Hunter Biden's business partners to a federal agent assigned to that investigation, and still, we found no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden.
[10] If the Republicans had a smoking gun or even a dripping water pistol, they would be presenting it today, but they've got nothing on Joe Biden.
[11] Meanwhile, Representative Nancy Mace fired back, calling the Democrats hypocrites.
[12] I don't want to hear another word from the left or anyone across the other side of the aisle about impeachment inquiry.
[13] This is complete and total hypocrisy this morning.
[14] Today we're going to bring the facts.
[15] Today, we are going to bring the evidence.
[16] In 2017, the Joe Biden family teamed up with Chinese company, CEFC, to make millions off of granting access to Joe Biden.
[17] Hunter even arranged for Joe Biden to share office space with the CCP -aligned company CEFC.
[18] My Democrat colleagues say none of this is relevant because Joe Biden wasn't vice president while his family did these shady deals.
[19] Turns out that's complete and total bullshit.
[20] It's a lie.
[21] President Biden has denied any involvement in and knowledge of his.
[22] son Hunter's business dealings.
[23] The White House dismissed today's hearing as an evidenceless probe and political stunt.
[24] Congress has less than three days to avert a government shutdown by passing an appropriations or stopgap spending bill.
[25] However, right now, it doesn't appear that congressional Republicans are anywhere close to crafting a bill that could pass both the House as well as the Senate.
[26] Among the most contentious spending items are U .S. border security provisions as well as aid for Ukraine.
[27] The president can take action.
[28] The president can do something here that would really help us be able to keep government open at the same time secure our borders.
[29] If an agreement cannot be reached, the government will shut down at 12 .01 a .m. October 1st this Sunday.
[30] Daily Wire editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro talked with Elon Musk today in an ex -space discussion.
[31] Shapiro asked Musk if he can assure ex -users that his social media company will stand up for free speech.
[32] You have this combination of both private organizations calling for a censorship and governments that are putting pressure on social media platforms in order to do the work that they really are not legally allowed to do, certainly in the United States.
[33] And so how can you stand up and what sort of pledges can you make to users of Twitter with regard to these sort of backdoor pressure attempts?
[34] When it comes to government, what do you do?
[35] Our policy is to resist with any attempts against censorship to the maximum degree allowed by law.
[36] In the US, by far, the biggest pressure comes from essentially fairly far left activist groups.
[37] What they're trying to do there is really oppose left often extremely far left values on accent and other platforms under the guise of paid speech, but it is in fact a matter of politics or of really views that I think the general public would consider to be somewhere between far left and extreme left.
[38] So it's really disturbing, frankly.
[39] The Senate is back to suit and tie.
[40] Late Wednesday night, the upper body of Congress voted unanimously to reverse its decision to ditch its professional dress code.
[41] They reinstated the rule that male senators must wear a sport coat, tie, and slacks while on the Senate floor.
[42] Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had relaxed the dress code last week.
[43] Many say to accommodate Pennsylvania Senator John Federman, who's known for wearing shorts and a hoodie.
[44] Baltimore Police announced the arrest of Jason Billingsley in connection with the murder of 26 -year -old tech entrepreneur Pavel LePierre.
[45] Billingsley is also the primary suspect in another rape, attempted murder, and arson case in Baltimore.
[46] He has a lengthy rap sheet of violent crimes dating back to at least 2009.
[47] Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley addressed the situation Thursday.
[48] We're going to put this individual, this violent criminal offender, repeat offender, back in jail where he belongs.
[49] Now let's all work together, make sure that he stays there.
[50] Billingsley was released in October of 2020.
[51] on good behavior credits after serving seven years of a 30 -year sentence for a 2015 sexual assault.
[52] And a social media influencer who appeared to cheer on looters while live -streaming as they ransacked Philadelphia stores Tuesday night has been arrested.
[53] Daily Wire's senior editor, Joel Needler, has the details.
[54] Deja Blackwell, who goes by the name Meatball, was arrested during her live stream of the looting as large groups of mostly teenagers damaged and robbed multiple stores in Philadelphia.
[55] 21 -year -old Blackwell was also hit with two misdemeanors on top of her six felony counts and is shown crying in a mugshot.
[56] Authorities charge Blackwell with burglary, criminal trespassing, conspiracy, criminal mischief, riot with the intent to commit a felony, and criminal use of a communication facility.
[57] The social media influencers bail was set at $25 ,000, which she posted Thursday morning.
