Morning Wire XX
[0] I'm Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Vickley with Georgia Howe.
[1] It's Thursday, November 30th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] Three people were killed and at least six were injured at a bus stop in Jerusalem around 7 .40 this morning, after two Hamas terrorists opened fire on the small crowd.
[3] According to the times of Israel, both suspects were shot dead at the scene by two off -duty soldiers and an armed citizen who returned fire.
[4] Israeli intelligence identified the suspects as brothers who were affiliated with Hamas and had previously been jailed on terror -related charges.
[5] The attack follows a last -minute deal between Israel and Hamas on Thursday to extend the ceasefire in Gaza by one more day.
[6] Hamas has released at least 10 Israeli hostages a day as well as other nationals, while Israel has released dozens of Palestinian prisoners.
[7] Hamas will likely demand more for many of the remaining hostages.
[8] A gag order against former President Trump is back in place after a state appeals court in New York rejected his lawyer's argument against it.
[9] Trump and his lawyers argue that a gag order in the $250 million civil fraud case was unconstitutional, while state court officials insist it's needed, pointing to a deluge of threats directed at the court clerk after Trump slammed her on social media.
[10] On Thursday, a four -judge appeals panel rejected Trump's legal argument and reinstated the order.
[11] With record numbers of migrants flooding across the southern border, Congress is working to hammer out a deal that could significantly restrict the admission of asylum seekers into the country.
[12] A core group of senators has been working behind closed doors on a deal that would cut back on the number of migrants allowed to pass the initial asylum screening that allows them to stay in the country as their claims are assessed.
[13] The deal would raise the threshold for the likelihood of the asylum claims to be approved by an immigration judge.
[14] On the line is President Biden's request for, $106 billion for more aid for Ukraine, Israel, and national security.
[15] Here's Congressman Byron Donaldson.
[16] I'm going to be very direct.
[17] We have to fund the Department of Homeland Security.
[18] It is essential for our nation's security.
[19] But there are serious questions about why would we give an agency money that doesn't do its job and secure the southern border?
[20] I'm not for that.
[21] A lot of my colleagues are not for that.
[22] Joe Biden needs to do his job, secure the border, and that we could talk about Ukraine and other issues after that.
[23] Pro -Palestinian demonstrators fought with NYPD officers Wednesday night while trying to disrupt the annual lighting of the giant Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.
[24] Before the event, pro -Palestinian groups had issued a call to action in which they insisted Jesus was Palestinian and not Jewish.
[25] The call for action stated, quote, flood the tree lighting.
[26] Seven people were taken into custody, but only one was charged with felony criminal mischief.
[27] The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached a new high for the year on Thursday, with November wrapping up to be the best month in over a year.
[28] After a three -month losing streak, the Dow is closing out November up 8%.
[29] With both the S &P 500 and NASDAQ likewise up 8 to 10%.
[30] Analysts partly credit cooling inflation rates with the positive momentum.
[31] Guy Fieri has landed another massive multi -year contract with Food Network, remaining the network's highest paid talent.
[32] The new contract is reportedly a three -year deal that pays upwards of $100 million and increase from his previous $80 million deal.
[33] In a statement, the mayor of Flavortown called Food Network his home and praised the Warner Brothers Discovery Universe for working with him to create great TV.
[34] Food is our most universal language, he said, so being able to unite people through highlighting chefs, restaurateurs, and the folks dishing out incredible meals all over this country and world is a privilege and responsibility that I don't take lightly.
[35] And famed former U .S. diplomat Henry Kissinger passed away Wednesday at the age of 100.
[36] Kissinger, who was Jewish, fled Nazi Germany with his family as a teenager, becoming a U .S. citizen in 1943.
[37] During his century of life, Kissinger made his way to the upper echelons of American politics, serving as a national security advisor and secretary of state during the 1970s, under presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.
[38] British Lord Kim Derrick, former ambassador to the U .S., offered his assessment on Kissinger's years of diplomacy.
[39] His record in international diplomacy was mixed, but there were three big achievements.
[40] He created a new detente between America and the Soviet Union.
[41] He normalized with China, and he negotiated deal with Viet Cong that ended the Vietnam War.
[42] On the other side, you have to say that he and Nixon and responsible for the bombing of Cambodia, which killed a lot of people and which paved the way for the killing fields for Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge.
[43] And he and Nixon oversaw the American support for the overthrow of the left -wing government, I Andes government in Chile, in the arrival of Pinnushe.
[44] So a mixed record, but an extraordinary man. And what he achieved on the positive side, I tell you, there's enough for any one life.
[45] All right.
