[0] I'm Daily Wire, editor -in -chief John Bickley, with Georgia Howe.

[1] It's Thursday, November 16th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[2] David DePap, the man who attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer at the Pelosi's San Francisco home, has been found guilty by a federal jury.

[3] DePap was convicted on charges of attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official.

[4] The 43 -year -old could get life in prison.

[5] Israel hopes that Wednesday's military action in Gaza will pressure Hamas into finishing a hostage -swap deal.

[6] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.

[7] According to Israeli officials, the terms of the deal would require Hamas to release 50 women and children who were abducted during the October 7th terrorist attack.

[8] In exchange, roughly the same number of Palestinian women and children held in Israel would be released.

[9] The deal, which is being coordinated by Qatar, Egypt, and the U .S., would also require a humanitarian pause.

[10] Israel would need to cease all hostilities for several days.

[11] While Hamas confirmed the deal in a broad sense, they blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for delaying it.

[12] Netanyahu told NBC news that this deal is a result of military pressure and that he can't give too many details on it just yet.

[13] I can say that we weren't close at all until we started the ground operation.

[14] In fact, we heard that there's an impending deal of this kind or of that kind, and then we learned that it was all hoax.

[15] It was nothing.

[16] But the middle we started the ground operation, things began to change.

[17] So is there a potential deal, Mr. Prime Minister?

[18] Is there a potential deal?

[19] There could be, but I think the less I say about it, the more I'll increase the chances that it materializes.

[20] Police in our nation's capital say a pro -Palestinian protest at the Democratic National Committee headquarters grew violent last night as demonstrators called for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel Hamas war.

[21] Capital police say around 150 individuals were, quote, violently protesting near the DNC building and officers made at least one arrest.

[22] Police say that six officers were injured during the confrontation from being punched, cut, and sprayed with pepper spray.

[23] Social media videos show protesters shoving policemen and trying to move metal barricades at the DNC headquarters.

[24] Here's what some of that sounded like.

[25] Protesters insist that the demonstration was mostly peaceful.

[26] The Senate easily passed a continuing resolution Wednesday night sending the bill to the president's desk in hopes of ending the threat of a partial government shutdown.

[27] On this vote, the yeas are 87, the nays are 11.

[28] The 60 vote threshold having been achieved, the bill is passed.

[29] The vote was 87 to 11 with 10 Republicans and one Democrat voting against the stopgap bill.

[30] The bill cleared the House on Tuesday after a 336 to 95 vote.

[31] President Biden is expected to sign it.

[32] Majority leader Chuck Schumer made the following remarks after the vote.

[33] Because of bipartisan cooperation, we are keeping the government.

[34] open without any poison pills or harmful cuts to vital programs.

[35] A great outcome for the American people.

[36] Republican Representative George Santos of New York says he will not seek re -election.

[37] His announcement comes after the House Ethics Committee uncovered, quote, overwhelming evidence that Santos broke the law.

[38] Daily Wire senior editor, Joel Needler, has more.

[39] Shortly after the panel released the report, Santos called the report a politicized smear while also confirming he would not seek a second term.

[40] He did, however, indicate that he was likely to stay in office through the end of his term.

[41] Meanwhile, a renewed effort to expel the controversial congressman from the House has gained momentum.

[42] The House may vote on the expulsion of Santos after the Thanksgiving holiday.

[43] The report shows evidence that Santos knowingly caused his campaign committee to file false or incomplete reports with the Federal Election Commission and use campaign funds for personal purposes.

[44] The panel also stated that Santos was uncooperative with the investigation.

[45] A California man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Jewish protester amid a conflict at dueling rallies for Israel and Palestinians.

[46] According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, 50 -year -old Loy Anahi was booked this morning on the charge of involuntary manslaughter.

[47] The incident happened on November 5th during a pro -Israel gathering in Thousand Oaks.

[48] Officials say 69 -year -old Paul Kessler suffered a fatal head injury during an altercation with Anaji.

[49] authorities initially said they had not ruled out the possibility of a hate crime, but this morning sheriffs declined to say whether or not such a charge may still come.

[50] And police are still seeking two more suspects after 17 -year -old Jonathan Lewis was beaten to death by a group of high school classmates in Las Vegas this month.

[51] The fight, which occurred after school in an alleyway, was reportedly over a vape pen and a pair of headphones which were allegedly stolen from the victim's friend.

[52] Eight of the students were arrested on Tuesday.

[53] The investigating lieutenant described the footage of the brawl as very void of humanity.
