[1] It's Friday, February 17th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] California lost a half a million residents between April of 2020 and July of 2022, since this data showed the state suffered a net loss of 700 ,000 people over that period.
[3] States receiving large numbers of Californians include Utah, Nevada, and Texas.
[4] The Biden administration announced a goal of adding 500 ,000 election, vehicle charging stations across the country by the year 2030.
[5] Several private companies have agreed to help achieve the goal, including Tesla, which will make 7 ,500 of its existing public charging stations compatible with any EV by the end of 2024.
[6] Two Tennessee National Guard members were killed in a training mission this week when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Alabama.
[7] No one on the ground was injured.
[8] In London, the U .S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco advised all Americans to avoid using the social media app TikTok due to concerns over Chinese communist surveillance.
[9] The remark comes as numerous state governments have banned public employees from using the device on government devices.
[10] A spate of new progressive legislation was passed this week in Spain.
[11] Changes now give teens access to abortion and transgender treatment and enshrines the right of citizens to obtain an abortion in a state hospital.
[12] Doctors and state hospitals will retain the right to obtain a religious exemption from performing the procedure.
[13] Spain has also become the first country in Europe to entitle workers to paid menstrual leave.
[14] Tesla is recalling up to 360 ,000 self -driving cars over concerns the software is unsafe.
[15] The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released a statement Thursday that, quote, the FSD beta system may allow the vehicle to act unsafe around intersections.
[16] The recall applies to some Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y, The CEO of YouTube, Susan Wojikki, has announced in a blog post that she's stepping down after leading the platform for nine years.
[17] Wojikki says she will focus on her family, her health, and other projects she's passionate about.
[18] Neil Mohan will take over as CEO.
[19] And lastly, popular host Ryan Seacrest announced on Thursday that he will be leaving his top -rated ABC daytime show, live with Kelly and Ryan, at the end of this season.
[20] But he wouldn't be leaving his co -host in The Lurch.
[21] The 48 -year -old American Idol MC will be replaced by co -host Kelly Rippa's husband, Riverdale actor Mark Consuelos.
