Inside Boxing Live XX
[0] I believe we are live from Brooklyn, New York.
[1] It's Dan Corobio.
[2] It's Chris Algieri in the flesh.
[3] We're coming to you from an undisclosed area.
[4] We're definitely not in a hotel room right now outside of the Barclays Center.
[5] But we're here.
[6] We're live.
[7] And we're ready to talk about Javante Davis and Lamont Rose.
[8] They just touched the scales.
[9] There's a lot of other boxing news we got to get to as well, Chris.
[10] What's going on, my friends?
[11] It's weird to see you three -dimensionally.
[12] Yeah, right.
[13] Live in the flesh.
[14] We're actually in the same room together doing this.
[15] I was in New York a while ago, a couple weeks ago, and you got sick.
[16] You couldn't do the show anyway, so now we're here.
[17] Yeah, we're here, and we're ready to talk about this big fight.
[18] Now, the reason we are not at the Barclays Center, this is kind of an inside boxing thing here, is they don't have a radio row.
[19] Which, for people at home, radio row is where all the media goes to gather and is able to congregate and get all this stuff done.
[20] If you don't have that, it's really hard to maneuver around New York City.
[21] When we're in Vegas, we have...
[22] That big room, big ass room.
[23] We have our setup.
[24] We have everyone walking around.
[25] For some reason, Brooklyn and this fight, they decided not to do that.
[26] So our friends at PPV .com, which we love, obviously, gave us a hotel suite.
[27] We got Mitch over here in the Cuck chair, the Cuck producer chair.
[28] He's our wonderful producer.
[29] And we're bringing you a live show.
[30] That's all we know how to do.
[31] So go ahead and order.
[32] Tank versus Roach on PPV .com.
[33] Me, Chris, Lance Buckmeyer, Jim Lampley will be in the live interactive chat.
[34] We'll all be ringside.
[35] I'll be running around doing a lot of different things on fight night for DraftKings, for the broadcast.
[36] I'll be in the live chat.
[37] We're going to be having a great, great, great time.
[38] Yeah, so order the fight.
[39] No subscriptions.
[40] Stream that right to your phone, your tablet, your big screen TV.
[41] You know you're going to want to watch Tank.
[42] You're going to want to see what he can do.
[43] And we're going to want to see if Lamont Roach can pull off the unthinkable.
[44] The unthinkable is what we're actually going to talk about in a little bit.
[45] But make sure you guys check out the live chat.
[46] We have a lot of fun in there.
[47] It's been really pop in these last couple fights.
[48] And that's all I'll be doing that night.
[49] I'll be in media row.
[50] I'll be sitting nice and relaxed, just chirping away with you guys.
[51] They're going to have me running around.
[52] Yeah, they put you to work on fight night.
[53] Saturday night, I am doing pre -interviews with the fighters as they enter the arena.
[54] Some sideline reporting, a ringside reporting, running up to do the DraftKings hits.
[55] I'm going to wear my Nikes.
[56] Yeah, I would wear comfortable shoes for that one.
[57] I'm ready to go.
[58] I'm trying to look at the odds, the final odds for Tank and Roach.
[59] Probably changed because of the weigh -in just now.
[60] 133 .8 pounds for Javonta Davis.
[61] Once again, well under.
[62] What he came in at for.
[63] Frank, and he came in, pretty much comes in at that weight for all of his fights.
[64] He is a small, lightweight, which makes you think, like, how the hell did this guy fight at 140 at one point?
[65] And knocking people out.
[66] He knocked out Mario Barros.
[67] He sent Barros across the freaking room.
[68] I think that's one of his better wins.
[69] Who Keith Thurman could knock out, by the way.
[70] And that was at 47.
[71] So that was a super impressive win.
[72] I know there's a lot of caveats to, a lot of holes have been punched in Gervonta's record, but I think he's got some really good sneaky wins on there.
[73] Yeah, I asked him what he thought his favorite win was.
[74] He didn't give it to me. He didn't give me an answer.
[75] Pedraza was another good one at the time.
[76] Well, that's what they say.
[77] Pedraza is Tank's best win in 2017.
[78] They want to see him fight Shakur.
[79] They want to see him fight Teofimo.
[80] They want to see him fight Haney, who are all fighting on the same card on May 2nd.
[81] Is they us?
[82] When I say they...
[83] I know, you say they.
[84] It's a proverbial they.
[85] Yeah, they is a great way to kind of...
[86] categorize a bunch of people and you don't have to say it to me that wants that well i want all those yeah of course i do i want all those dude i've been in that camp for a long time of like i want to see tank fight the best and prove that he is one of the best fighters in the world figure it out one way or another and i think we're getting to that point in his career where he has to do that and he's running out of room because i would say a lot of the talk in the lead up to this fight was You know, we want to see him fight Loma.
[87] We want to see him fight Shakur.
[88] We want to see him fight.
[89] He tried Loma.
[90] He tried for Loma.
[91] Right.
[92] He tried for all those guys.
[93] So, I mean, I don't want this to be the main topic of this episode, but I think after this fight, he says he wants to fight three times in 2025.
[94] I believe.
[95] I believe.
[96] No, I'm going to say no. I believe that when I see it.
[97] Guys, it's March already.
[98] This is the first fight, you know, and you got to see how the fight goes for one, but also when he's going to fight.
[99] He's going to fight in the summer, June, July, and then he's going to fight September, December.
[100] I mean, he's never, he has never done it at a high level.
[101] So.
[102] Leo Minara says he knocked out Barrios, who was a skeleton with a rehydration clause.
[103] Was that a thing?
[104] It was a thing.
[105] I actually talked to Bob Santos about that.
[106] Regardless, you signed, you guys, you signed the paperwork.
[107] If you signed the rehydration clause, you're still fighting.
[108] That's what I always say.
[109] It doesn't matter.
[110] You sign that.
[111] You negotiate.
[112] You ask for what you think you can get.
[113] And Ryan Garcia would be saying, yes, I will boil down to 135.
[114] It would not be over 145 on fight day.
[115] Barrios, the same thing.
[116] You signed on that dotted line.
[117] Gervonta puts that in there.
[118] You can question why his team puts that in there.
[119] I think the reason why is because look how small he is.
[120] But also Floyd did that to so many guys.
[121] There's no asterisk on your federal box record saying, oh, but he had the.
[122] This is inside boxing stuff.
[123] It really doesn't matter.
[124] At the end of the day, he got knocked out by the guy.
[125] This guy says, Chris looking like a beastie boy today.
[126] Beastie boy.
[127] We are in Brooklyn.
[128] We're going back in the day.
[129] No sleep still, Brooklyn, baby.
[130] I mean, I didn't sleep much last night.
[131] We're just kicking off questions here.
[132] This is the beauty of the live shows.
[133] Chris, as a former fighter, is there a difference between fighting indoors versus outdoors?
[134] Hell yeah.
[135] outdoors a couple times yeah where uh the platte deutsche on long island franklin square oh my god i fought actually who is a very good professional okay he's Jose more than once uh Jose Guzman I actually fought in the outside and it was it was a summer show and it was crazy hot they put us in a barn and literally we had people going out on stretchers because we were all overheated and then went and fought and people get knocked out structure structure that's like the side of boxing that not many know yeah like those early days i didn't warm up i didn't i didn't already warm i was i was sweating sitting down just drinking and i was just like i'm not i'm not moving i'm not warming up this is stupid was it at that point you question why am i doing this i have a degree uh no i could probably get a real job no it was way later than that i was still pretty early in my career Things are going good.
[136] When you go early, yeah, like, early on, you have that, like, youthful dumbness.
[137] But also, they kept me so busy.
[138] That was still within my first 10 fights.
[139] I had 10 fights in two years.
[140] I had five fights my first year, five fights my second year, and I broke my hands twice.
[141] That's what you're supposed to do.
[142] Yeah.
[143] Manny Pacquiao had multiple rehydration clauses in his fights.
[144] There you go.
[145] Nobody ever talks about that.
[146] You know what it is now?
[147] It's just, like, Twitter.
[148] We have more information.
[149] We're in the information era just in life.
[150] So, like...
[151] Things that happened in the early 2000s, late 2010s with Mayweather or Pacquiao, we didn't really hear about it.
[152] We hear about it today on Twitter, or we get a weird -ass interview with Bill Haney or something on some weird -ass podcast where he just says a bunch of shit, and then it's on Twitter within minutes.
[153] I don't know how we got into this discussion here.
[154] Full card for Saturday night.
[155] is going to be...
[156] I actually really like this card.
[157] We got Ioannis Tellez versus Julian J. Rock Williams.
[158] Remember him?
[159] Former Unified 154 -pound champion who is coming back with a vengeance at age 34.
[160] Tellez is a knockout artist on the rise, like under 10 fights, but has some really big knockouts.
[161] Alberto Puello, champion at 140 pounds, fighting Sendor Martin, finally getting his title shot after being a mandatory for what seems like 10 years.
[162] Two very avoided guys.
[163] Stylistically, they're a nightmare.
[164] Two very avoided guys.
[165] Stylistically, don't throw a lot of punches.
[166] No. Two counterpunchers.
[167] I don't think this is going to be a barn burner.
[168] We're going to have a stare down?
[169] And we're going to get a decision on that one.
[170] Yeah, I will give you my betting picks Saturday night on the card.
[171] Bet the over.
[172] And I like Sandor Martin as a underdog in this fight.
[173] Jose Venezuela versus Gary Antoine Russell.
[174] I think this fight can go many different ways.
[175] We'll break it down in a little bit.
[176] And then the main event.
[177] gervonta davis lamont roach and let's start there uh we had lamont roach here in this very hotel suite and i saw a guy that was extremely confident chris more confident than i than i expected and i saw a guy that feels like he's ready for this moment do i think he's gonna win no is there part of me that thinks this guy might go the distance this guy might push tank we haven't seen him pushed before I don't know why I'm feeling that, but it's just like I have that feeling about Roach, just from picking up his energy.
[178] Yeah, I mean, listen, he's grown a lot since picking up that title.
[179] He looked great in his last fight.
[180] He scored a knockout.
[181] He was telling everyone who would listen, listen, man, I hit harder than people give me credit for.
[182] I hit harder than my record suggests.
[183] I hurt everybody that I fought.
[184] I just haven't finished all those guys, but I'm going to start finishing guys.
[185] In his last fight, he did that.
[186] So that's one thing.
[187] When you say something in the public and then you do it.
[188] confidence goes way up and then he you know he believes he's earned this opportunity even though he's coming up for 130 he's a he was a huge 30 pounder he's a pretty good size 35 pounder and as you said tank's not a big 35 pounder so i think he's got a lot of confidence in that as well um you know they've shared the ring together when the amateurs many years ago yep so uh he's got a very good amateur background he's shown a very solid chin he's got more experience under his belt now so yeah of course he's riding high uh confidence wise but This is Tank Davis, baby.
[189] I know.
[190] This is Tank Davis, baby.
[191] We know a lot about Tank, but I find myself when we do these fight weeks and we're talking about big fights, we spend so much time on the A side.
[192] We spend so much time on Tank.
[193] Oh, it's like a foregone conclusion.
[194] He's going to blast him out of there.
[195] Foregone conclusion.
[196] Everyone I'm talking to is like, oh, I love Lamont.
[197] He seems like a great guy.
[198] Oh, it's a shame.
[199] It's like what I'm hearing all week long and I'm seeing on our social media.
[200] But I'm like, let's think about this for a second.
[201] Can this guy push Tank?
[202] I don't expect him to win, but what's the game plan?
[203] To beat Tank, because no one's been able to do it.
[204] I see the path to how Roach could actually pull off the upset.
[205] I really do.
[206] Because we all know that Javante Davis is not busy.
[207] Gives up a lot of early rounds.
[208] 32 punches per round.
[209] Second lowest in all of boxing behind Zhilhai Zhang.
[210] Yeah, and Zhilhai Zhang is a heavyweight.
[211] You know, like, whatever.
[212] Both guys are big.
[213] I told Tank that, and he was like, me?
[214] It's on our social media right now.
[215] I only saw 30.
[216] I'm like, yeah.
[217] He goes, I need to throw more punches, man. I'm like, all right, so you're going to come out throwing 50?
[218] And he's like, I don't know about that.
[219] Then he goes and sits down with Lampley.
[220] And Lampley, I gave Lampley that stat as well.
[221] And Lampley brought it down and gave him the same stat.
[222] So we're in his head right now.
[223] So you might come out in the first round and throw 50 punches.
[224] I doubt that, Dan.
[225] I don't think so.
[226] I don't think so.
[227] But again, again, going back to what I was saying about stylistic, how I can see Roach actually pulling out this victory.
[228] You got a guy who throws so few punches.
[229] He falls behind in fights.
[230] He really believes in his power.
[231] Yes, he has fantastic boxing ability, which you've seen in the last couple of fights.
[232] We saw that in the Ryan Garcia fight was the first time I really saw.
[233] I was like, wow, this guy was really thinking in there because he had someone who was really dangerous in front of him.
[234] But then we saw him take a little bit of a step back, in my opinion, against Frank Martin because he had a guy in front of him who couldn't hurt him, and he was getting hit with a lot of punches that he really didn't need to and just walking through him, getting himself in that position.
[235] We could potentially see that where Roach maybe comes out to an early lead because of his boxing ability and that tank is not that busy.
[236] And then later on, if...
[237] Roach can't hurt Tank, which I don't really think he will be able to in any kind of major way.
[238] Tank may believe that I can walk through all these shots, in which case he loses even more rounds.
[239] And then what if it takes too long for him to get to Roach?
[240] Roach's boxing ability, his savvy, his physical size and strength, and his chin.
[241] The guy's got a good chin.
[242] Late in the fight, he gets to the end.
[243] He's got more rounds in the bank than he does.
[244] That's how you win.
[245] That is how you beat Tank.
[246] That's the number one thing.
[247] Excuse me. It's the punches.
[248] The lack of activity.
[249] Outwork and avoid the power.
[250] Outwork and avoid the power, but also win rounds, though.
[251] You set a good point there where you have to be able to touch Tank.
[252] You have to be able to hurt him.
[253] You have to make him think.
[254] In the Frank Martin fight, Tank, he walked him down like we've never seen Tank walk a fighter down.
[255] No, never.
[256] And Frank Martin is known for a guy with power.
[257] He certainly has more power than Roach, right?
[258] Certainly.
[259] And, you know, he's not so much known as a guy with power, but as a physical guy who breaks you down.
[260] And he's able to bust you up.
[261] And he puts a lot of pressure.
[262] Like a real effort guy.
[263] And he just had nothing for Tank that night.
[264] 23 here says, he starts slow because he can.
[265] If he needed every round like any other fighter, he would try to win them.
[266] Yeah, I agree to a certain extent.
[267] But when is it going to come back to bite Tank in the ass?
[268] It could be this fight.
[269] Literally.
[270] Just because stylistically and what he asked in front of him.
[271] If you were betting the underdog, I mean.
[272] You know, I'm not saying Roach is going to win this fight.
[273] Plus 900.
[274] By decision?
[275] Money line.
[276] Oh, just money line.
[277] Okay.
[278] Roach by decision on DraftKings plus 2 ,500.
[279] I'm not saying it's going to happen.
[280] I'm just saying.
[281] Plus 2 ,500.
[282] That's the path to victory, though.
[283] I know.
[284] I'm just trying to think what he can do in there.
[285] Like I said.
[286] Dude, he's very skilled.
[287] I mean, fundamentals are phenomenal.
[288] His technique is excellent.
[289] He's very, very solid.
[290] More skilled than Frank.
[291] Absolutely.
[292] Absolutely.
[293] More fundamentally sound than Ryan.
[294] it's certainly but not as physically gifted not as physically but ryan was drained and that wasn't the same ryan we saw against haney regardless ryan had that left and he was winging it more skilled than barrios uh i would say yes i would say higher boxing iq certainly who's some of the other names that tank has gotten there more skilled than pitbull yes yes take the hand injury that play cleaner but people's people's he's he's He's a motherfucker in there.
[295] He's coming at you.
[296] He's swinging.
[297] That win is, like, not aging that great for Tank.
[298] Yeah.
[299] It was for a little bit.
[300] It was like, yo, he took on Pitbull on three weeks notice or something like that, short notice.
[301] And Pitbull was looked at as this ferocious puncher, and he goes the distance with Tank for the first time.
[302] But then Pitbull goes on to have some really bad losses.
[303] Wah, wah, wah.
[304] Bad performances, bad losses.
[305] Yeah.
[306] I don't know, man. that is yeah that's the big question for me before we get to tank is what roach can do in there and is this his moment like everyone in this room a couple days ago when we were with him like mitch you can attest this you felt the confidence of this guy right nod yeah yes mitch said yes he felt the confidence off of roach everyone in the room was like i don't know much about this guy but i like him i don't know if this matters at all but I don't think he's going to go in there timid.
[307] I think he's going to seize the moment.
[308] No, no. So I've had a lot of dealings with Lamont Roach junior and senior because of a pro box TV.
[309] And he's, he's, he's actually was training at the, the plant city pro pro box training facility.
[310] And we've, we've done some co -promotional shows.
[311] We did a show in DC.
[312] We did some, some Remy shows.
[313] So I've been around these guys and listen, Lamont Roach senior.
[314] He's got like, I think he has like, I don't want to quote this wrong, but he's got like a handful of guys who have like dozens of, of natural title amateurs.
[315] Like when you're able to do that consistently with different guys, different kids over the years, that means a lot about your coaching ability.
[316] So, you know, the, the, the confidence, you're bringing it back to that.
[317] I mean, the boxing IQ is there.
[318] The confidence is there.
[319] They feel like they're ready timing wise.
[320] Yeah.
[321] But, but, but being able to listen, being able to teach boxing skills and having high IQ, listen, it's there.
[322] He's done it time and time again.
[323] And, you know, Lamont Roche's brother.
[324] He looks exactly like him.
[325] He's excellent.
[326] He's really, really good.
[327] He's come along really good.
[328] So, listen, man, I don't know.
[329] I get where the confidence comes from, and it is real.
[330] I've been around these guys quite a bit, and it's there.
[331] Zach Ayes says, did you say Ryan was drained?
[332] Are you guys really covering the sport?
[333] Do you know boxing, or do you just follow the wave?
[334] I mean, it was pretty well documented that Ryan Garcia was weight -trained for the Tank fight.
[335] Did you see pictures of him?
[336] He looks like a skeleton.
[337] Yeah, he's a different -looking guy.
[338] They put a hydration clause on him.
[339] He's very, very famous.
[340] Like, he could not come in over 145 on fight day.
[341] What are you looking at, Zach B?
[342] Ride the wave.
[343] Let's talk about Tank.
[344] This is Tank Davis Fight Week.
[345] Unlike any other, we're looking at a sellout, which is just unbelievable from the business side.
[346] This guy sells.
[347] He's looking to have the number one gate in the history of Barclays Center, bigger than the Rolling Stones.
[348] Don't quote me on that.
[349] He posted it.
[350] It's a sellout.
[351] You're going to quote him, but don't quote you.
[352] He posted it on his Instagram story, Tank.
[353] It's a sellout.
[354] It's a big event.
[355] Anytime Tank fights, I would say he's on the Mount Rushmore of faces of boxing, moves the needle.
[356] Did a 55 -minute scrum yesterday where he weighed in on everything.
[357] You get that when you have a tank fight week.
[358] And you get all the questions about when you're going to fight this guy, when you're going to fight that guy.
[359] What do you think about this?
[360] Are you going to knock this guy out?
[361] Well, he's 30 years old now.
[362] And he's entering, I would say, a different part of his career where he says he wants to fight three times this year.
[363] I believe from hearing rumblings that he would take on a Keyshawn.
[364] He would take on a Shakur.
[365] They're using that Mayweather model, quote -unquote, where let's...
[366] At age 30, move this train.
[367] Dude, we had this exact conversation a year ago.
[368] We said the same thing.
[369] We're like, I think this is it.
[370] You know, he's in a different place now.
[371] He's going to start moving.
[372] Like he said, the Mayweather model.
[373] Now he's going to start taking these big fights.
[374] And then he makes a Frank Martin fight.
[375] Cool.
[376] Good fight.
[377] And then he doesn't fight for nine months.
[378] And then he fights Lamont Roach, who's a 130 pounder coming up.
[379] So, the proof is in the pudding, baby.
[380] We said this before.
[381] It didn't happen last time.
[382] Is it going to happen this time?
[383] Is it fight three times a year?
[384] He said that last year.
[385] It doesn't happen.
[386] To get into it, I will say that he wanted, like Lomachenko, they're at the one -yard line.
[387] He says, I want to go home and I want to not fight Geronta Davis.
[388] Shakur Stevenson.
[389] I don't know exactly what happened with that fight negotiation, but he goes and signs with Matchroom.
[390] That complicates things.
[391] He was a free agent.
[392] I'm not saying, like, telling Shakur what to do.
[393] If Shakur would have signed on the dotted line at PBC, the fight would have been a lot easier to make.
[394] But now Shakur comes with the Saudi bag attached to it, and that's good for him.
[395] You've got to look out for yourself here.
[396] And Keyshawn wins a title last week or two weeks ago, and he's now a viable candidate.
[397] We talked about that as well.
[398] But let's talk about the actual fight.
[399] Let's talk about Tank stepping in the ring.
[400] Canobio for president, says Demetrio.
[401] Yes, I agree with that.
[402] Real quick.
[403] I saw another great.
[404] Dan doesn't ride waves.
[405] He rides on the Goofy train.
[406] That's a good one.
[407] Get it?
[408] Nice.
[409] Brian Garcia did tweet that.
[410] Great call, Jay.
[411] Brian Garcia did say I was on the Goofy train, and I want to print that out and frame it, put it in my apartment.
[412] You should make a shirt.
[413] This is Goofy train.
[414] Conductor of the Goofy train.
[415] All aboard!
[416] Can you guys tell me what Shakur has done, who he has beat?
[417] We will get to that in a second.
[418] Tank Davis.
[419] Throwing 32 punches around.
[420] 93 % knockout rate.
[421] How long can he do that?
[422] How long can he get away with that type of style?
[423] Can he get away with it against Roach?
[424] Probably.
[425] He says he's going to throw more punches to me and Jim Lampley, but you're a trained animal in there.
[426] You know you've done this your whole career.
[427] This is the type of boxer you are.
[428] Can't change dog stripes.
[429] Dogs don't have stripes.
[430] Can't change a zebra stripes.
[431] You and the euphemisms.
[432] You really nail them.
[433] Can't change a dog stripes.
[434] He's not changing nothing.
[435] This is what this guy.
[436] This guy's been doing this his entire life.
[437] That's just his style.
[438] That's the way he's developed.
[439] He's very smart.
[440] He's way more cerebral than people give him credit for.
[441] He's very high boxing IQ.
[442] He's setting things up.
[443] I say this over and over again.
[444] Ad nauseum.
[445] His nickname is great.
[446] He is a tank.
[447] He maneuvers himself slowly into position so he can unload his artillery.
[448] He takes his time to get there.
[449] He doesn't get hit a whole lot.
[450] His defense is pretty solid.
[451] He puts himself in position.
[452] Defense is impregnable.
[453] He puts himself in a position, and when it's time to unload, he finds those spots, man. It's one thing to have that kind of heavy artillery, but if you don't have the guidance system to land, it doesn't matter, but he does.
[454] Yeah.
[455] He's got to get himself in that position first, though.
[456] And he doesn't take risk early on.
[457] Does not take risk.
[458] I mean, he did drop Ryan in round two.
[459] That's because Ryan was really coming on.
[460] Yeah.
[461] Ryan was really aggressive and was trying to catch him early.
[462] Like, I don't see Roach doing that.
[463] I see Roach taking a more cerebral approach.
[464] Yeah, he's going to be smart.
[465] You know, Tank told me at CVS.
[466] No. He told me yesterday.
[467] Eighth or ninth round.
[468] Now, did he have?
[469] Spongebob ice cream pop in his hand when he told you.
[470] No, but you can see why.
[471] I can't really believe it this time.
[472] You can see why he would have Spongebob ice cream because when you're coming in at 133 .8 and you don't look weight -drained all week.
[473] Yesterday, he looked exactly what he looked like today.
[474] But you know what's crazy?
[475] When he steps in the ring, he does look much bigger.
[476] Way more muscular.
[477] Everything gets fuller.
[478] Shoulders get fuller.
[479] On the scale, I was just looking at him like, man, he does look really small.
[480] But I find out he doesn't look like that.
[481] Floyd was like that, too, in the way that he made weight.
[482] I don't know.
[483] It was strange.
[484] He would make weight, weigh the weight, which is very uncommon these days.
[485] But these guys do it.
[486] They're special.
[487] This guy says he started faster in the younger weight classes tank.
[488] But if you got power, he's going to take his time and snipe you.
[489] He's also in with a lot more dangerous, bigger guys.
[490] So he's got to be careful early on.
[491] At 130.
[492] at these at these at these high no at these higher weights i think he's he's more cautious because he's saying he was at the lighter weights he was the lighter weights he was more busy according to yeah because he could be he could get hit by those guys i remember him uh with uh pedraza pedraza couldn't hurt him so he could be busier with him these guys are different they're the bigger the stronger um you know he mentioned you know having being uh apprehensive about ryan's power because he's seen this guy knock so many people out so uh you know he is aware of getting hit and they can that he can get hurt You got a big fan in the chat.
[493] Particularly enjoyed your behind -the -scenes nutrition talk when you fought Pacquiao.
[494] Sushi once a week for the healthy fats.
[495] Nice.
[496] That's a throwback.
[497] Rainbow roll.
[498] He's been around for a while, this one.
[499] I also had hamburgers once a week there.
[500] Yeah, red meat guy.
[501] Big red meat guy.
[502] Big red meat guy.
[503] Last night, we went out to eat in Brooklyn.
[504] We had some halibut.
[505] Nice.
[506] I was not there.
[507] When he says we, it's not me. Me, Mitch, some of the PPV brethren.
[508] What's the name of that place?
[509] It's an Italian place.
[510] I got some halibut.
[511] Evelina.
[512] Evelina.
[513] Yeah.
[514] We had some grilled octopus.
[515] Nice.
[516] Some popo.
[517] Yeah.
[518] We had some ricotta whipped up with some flatbread.
[519] Sounds good.
[520] I'm very hungry right now.
[521] Thank you.
[522] I hear you salivating over there.
[523] It's my grumble.
[524] Do we want to talk about our Newsday article?
[525] We should.
[526] It was pretty cool.
[527] Yeah.
[528] For those of you who don't know, me and Chris grew up on Long Island.
[529] Not in Long Island.
[530] On Long Island.
[531] And the newspaper of record on Long Island is Newsday.
[532] You grew up reading it.
[533] It's at your doorstep.
[534] And they decided to write a nice story about us, our podcast, our platform, ppv .com, Chris's career, what I consider a career, whatever I do.
[535] And it was awesome.
[536] And we got a lot of love.
[537] And it was really cool to see that, Chris.
[538] I know you have had your name in bright lights your whole life.
[539] This was cool to me to see Newsday and that was like, well, I grew up reading this every morning.
[540] Yeah, well, I mean, I've been in Newsday countless times, but it's been a while.
[541] I haven't been in the ring a while, so I haven't been in Newsday in quite some time.
[542] So that was a nice refresh for me and talking to our guy, Bobby Cassidy, who's awesome.
[543] But yeah, man, it was cool to be recognized for the work that you and I have been doing as of late.
[544] You started even before me in this media game, but now we're really.
[545] sprinting i remember interviewing you before the coil fight that was the last time i was in news day and it was on the joshua card yep joshua ruiz i was there at the public weigh -in that was at like some like i feel like we're in a mall or something no we were in the the what was that no we were we were in the garden No, but the workout was at somewhere.
[546] It was like on the pier.
[547] It was like near the water.
[548] It was weird.
[549] It looked cool.
[550] Matchroom went all out.
[551] This was Joshua's big U .S. arrival.
[552] Big public workout on the pier in like a mall.
[553] And I went and interviewed you and we did our interview.
[554] And then afterwards, you're like, yo, you're getting kind of good at this.
[555] This was 2019.
[556] I was like, yeah, bro.
[557] It's kind of like what I want to do.
[558] Dude, I've been calling your whole career as it's going.
[559] I was like, you're getting good at this.
[560] I was like, hey, the podcast thing, you're only going to have to do this.
[561] And I remember telling my brother, I was like, yo, you hear Algeria say I'm getting good at this?
[562] And Nick is like, yeah, I heard it.
[563] Cool.
[564] Yeah, that's how Nick does.
[565] I was like, damn, maybe I can do this.
[566] Fast forward to 2025.
[567] We're here with PBV .com.
[568] I love doing the show.
[569] I know you do.
[570] I'm not going to get sappy here.
[571] I love our audience and all that.
[572] But let's go to the odds before we get down to the full card.
[573] Javante Davis, minus 1 ,600.
[574] Crazy.
[575] Lamont Roach, plus 900.
[576] Insane.
[577] I actually like Tank to win in rounds seven through nine, which you can get on DraftKings right now at plus 230.
[578] That was yesterday.
[579] It could have changed.
[580] And I also like Tank to one and a half knockdowns and to win the fight.
[581] I think that's a really – we were talking off air about that.
[582] That's a really solid bet because you got to think about that.
[583] All right, he scores a knockdown early, right?
[584] Right.
[585] Fight goes on, you know, even if Roach, even if it's a slip.
[586] Yeah.
[587] Even if it's like a controversial knockdown, they say I got, I got flash.
[588] They say I went down six times a pack.
[589] Yeah.
[590] There's like four slips in there.
[591] So they still count.
[592] All right.
[593] Okay.
[594] So counsel the bet.
[595] All right.
[596] So counsel the bet.
[597] So if, if he goes down early and then maybe survives late and goes down again, boom, you got your bet.
[598] If he goes down early, if he goes down and then.
[599] Tank finishes him, puts him down again for the final knockdown.
[600] That's two, and you win again.
[601] It's minus money, which is kind of nuts.
[602] It's minus 105, which is wild because Vegas thinks that Tank is going to knock this guy down numerous times.
[603] That's what Vegas thinks.
[604] Vegas is usually right, too.
[605] One caveat about that one is if he drops him and then comes back to stop him standing, you don't win that bet, which is tough.
[606] So you put him down, but then the fight's got to stop standing.
[607] Don't get the bet.
[608] I know.
[609] But it's a prop bet.
[610] But seven through nine, I think, is a safe one.
[611] Prop bets are fun.
[612] You can even get seven through nine for plus 230.
[613] Or if you're feeling like you want to be a little safer with that, you can do second half, seven through 12, which is plus money as well for Tank, which he usually does is he stops guys late.
[614] That's what I think is going to happen.
[615] The fight to go to distance is also plus money if you think that Roach can figure out a way to survive.
[616] I can see that.
[617] I can see Roach making the distance.
[618] I can see that too.
[619] It's not bad for plus money, too.
[620] Let's see the other fights on this card.
[621] Co -main event.
[622] We'll see Jose Venezuela defending his 140 -pound belt against Gary Antoine Russell.
[623] Man, I wish Gary Antoine Russell fought more.
[624] This guy had 100 % knockout rate at one point.
[625] He was knocking dudes out left and right, but he's a Russell, and they only fight once a year.
[626] It's, like, in their blood.
[627] Yeah, it's weird.
[628] And he's a guy that he was, like, low -key.
[629] causing a lot of problems, like stopping a lot of way more advanced experience guys.
[630] Um, but it was deep on cars.
[631] People weren't really following him, but everybody knew how good he was.
[632] And then he ran into Pueyo, who is just like a tricky guy, a hard style to deal with.
[633] And he just didn't do enough, ends up losing a very close fight and kind of forgotten again.
[634] It's one of those guys, like if you're not in the, in the limelight and then you catch a loss, even a super close one, it's controversial.
[635] Like you're gonna, you're gonna fall off.
[636] And when you're not busy, you're gonna stay falling off.
[637] So he's back.
[638] Big opportunity, fighting for a world title, coming off a loss.
[639] But he's got a tough guy in front of him.
[640] Venezuela's tough.
[641] Southpaw.
[642] Tall.
[643] Tough, tall, boxing puncher.
[644] Puncher.
[645] He has these wonderful wins.
[646] He's on quite a roll.
[647] Great kid, too, man. Really just good energy.
[648] Stand -up individual.
[649] Talking a lot of shit about Benavidez's dad, who they had a falling out with.
[650] Oh, yeah.
[651] Now he's with Robert Garcia.
[652] Probably, I would say the best trainer in boxing right now.
[653] He's yeah.
[654] I mean, he's back on that mantle.
[655] He got a, he was trainer of the year last year.
[656] Now he's, he's premier.
[657] Yeah.
[658] Yeah.
[659] Absolutely.
[660] I mean, look what he did with Virgil against my dream of like Robert's a badass.
[661] Robert I love is that he can train all these different styles.
[662] And that's like the greatest calling card for a trainer.
[663] In my opinion, is to be able to adapt to all your different fighters and find their strong suits.
[664] And not just be like, Freddie Roach is known as an offensive -minded trainer.
[665] That just means you're a good, you're a real boxing coach.
[666] You can teach different styles and make them successful.
[667] With Garcia, he's got fighters of all different styles.
[668] But I'll tell you this, Virgil Ortiz is like the epitome of what Robert wants his guys to be.
[669] Boxer fighter, boxer puncher.
[670] Boxer puncher, relentless, gets knockouts.
[671] Not to veer off here, but I think Virgil Ortiz might be fighting Malakuziev.
[672] Or Tazolayev.
[673] Tazolayev.
[674] Sorry.
[675] In the way that Virgil moves, that would make the most sense.
[676] He's also the most dangerous guy in the division.
[677] I have now Virgil Ortiz as number one, and I think the most difficult guy in the division for him would be Mertazolio.
[678] He's going right for it.
[679] What a badass.
[680] Let's go back to Jose Venezuela riding the wave here of some really nice wins.
[681] He is a name at 140.
[682] I would say outside of Tank and Roach, the most cameras were on him.
[683] because there are some big names at 140.
[684] He's not shy.
[685] He says he wants to fight Shakur Stevenson.
[686] I don't know if he'll be able to do that at 140 if Shakur hops up to 140.
[687] There are some names at 140 right now.
[688] Teofimo Lopez is going to be fighting Arnold Barboza on May 2nd in Times Square.
[689] We'll get to that in a second.
[690] I think there's a lot of big fights out there for Venezuela.
[691] I don't want to go too far ahead here because Gary Antoine Russell is really good.
[692] He might not fight a lot.
[693] He might not be on boxing fans' minds, but this guy is ferocious.
[694] He's young.
[695] skilled like this is like not a walk in the park for Venezuela that's why I was like dude why is he talking about all these fights after this Venezuela when when you got a freaking really good fighter in front of you coming off a loss though because boxing is what have you done for me lately and he did not look good against boyo and he looked his offense was really shut down but that's not him And he's got a guy in front of him who's not a slickster.
[696] Valenzuela's not a tricky guy.
[697] He's not a cutie.
[698] So we're going to have a firefight at times in this fight.
[699] So, yeah, I agree with you.
[700] You can't look past a guy like Gary Onswell and Russell because he's got a ton of talent, a lot of skill.
[701] Yeah, obviously he's not the busiest guy in terms of his activity.
[702] But, I mean, with the kinds of guys that he's been able to deal with, he stopped Victor Postol.
[703] You know, like, I don't care if it was a little bit controversial.
[704] That was, like, last second, right?
[705] Yeah, but, like, he still was beating him up.
[706] Like, he's a really tough guy to deal with.
[707] You know, Francis Bartholomew, another tough guy to look good against.
[708] He stopped him.
[709] Split decision to Puello.
[710] Yes.
[711] That's the one knock on this fight where it's like, all right, Gary Antone Russell, I haven't heard from you.
[712] But I'll say this.
[713] Puello looked really good that night.
[714] I was like, oh, this guy can actually fight.
[715] And he was the favorite to beat Puello because Puello was coming off of that long.
[716] that long hiatus due to the failed drug test.
[717] He's fighting on his card as well.
[718] Let's take a look at the drafting odds for that co -main event.
[719] You got Venezuela minus 105, Gary Antoine Russell minus 15.
[720] This is a pickup.
[721] I mean, you're looking at really close odds here.
[722] Vegas is paying attention.
[723] They know what we know about this fight.
[724] Plus money is on under 10 and a half.
[725] I don't see that.
[726] I see this as a distance fight.
[727] Venezuela by decision, plus 180.
[728] Interesting.
[729] So they're thinking he's going to win by knockout if he's going to win.
[730] Yeah.
[731] Well, it's all plus money for the winning methods.
[732] That's usually what you get when you have to pick them.
[733] Is that the widest one?
[734] The widest one would be a draw at plus 1 ,600.
[735] But what about Russell?
[736] Russell by decision plus 450.
[737] Wow.
[738] What about Russell by stoppage?
[739] Russell by stoppage plus 160.
[740] Really?
[741] Yeah.
[742] Wow.
[743] This is an interesting matchup.
[744] This is really interesting.
[745] We'll see what happens in there.
[746] I like Venezuela.
[747] I like Venezuela by decision.
[748] You get that plus 180 on DraftKings.
[749] It's just so hard to gauge Russell.
[750] It's like you fight once a year.
[751] You fight once a year.
[752] We don't know exactly.
[753] You come off of a loss, but you have all that talent.
[754] Venezuela fought, and I want to say he fought on that.
[755] He fought on the big Saudi card, Isak Cruz.
[756] Got the win over Colbert.
[757] You know what Venezuela that I love, too, is like back -to -back losses in 2022, 2023.
[758] I don't love that.
[759] I love the way how he bounced back.
[760] But even the Edwin DeSantos fight, he dropped DeSantos and hurt him a bunch of times.
[761] That was a firefight for three rounds as long as it lasted.
[762] And then he gets that UD loss to Colbert in 2023, avenges it immediately.
[763] By brutal knockout of the year shot.
[764] Yep.
[765] And then beats Isak Cruz, kind of stops the Isak Cruz train.
[766] That was on the big Saudi U .S. card.
[767] I didn't think that fight was close, by the way.
[768] It's a split decision, but I don't know.
[769] And now he's the man. Now he's one of the men at 140.
[770] And with Russell, we just don't know.
[771] I don't know.
[772] That's why it's an interesting fight, and that's why the odds are so close.
[773] There's questions about each guy, but there's also a super amount of talent for each guy.
[774] He's 28 now.
[775] He's 28 years old.
[776] Yeah, he really has been fighting in obscurity.
[777] Once a year, bro.
[778] It's actually kind of impressive.
[779] 2020, once, he fought Jose Marufo.
[780] 2021, one fight.
[781] Giovanni Santiago.
[782] He's the one who should have gotten a victory over Adrian Broder.
[783] Yeah, I remember that.
[784] 2022, he stepped it up.
[785] He fought twice.
[786] He fought 16 rounds in 2022.
[787] And he fought two former world champions.
[788] Postal and Bartholomew.
[789] 2023, I'm going to take it easy, says Gary Rose.
[790] I'm going to fight Kent Cruz.
[791] Who the hell is that?
[792] And that's it.
[793] 2024, I'll fight Puello.
[794] Clark Kent Cruz.
[795] And 2024, I'll fight Puello.
[796] And 2025.
[797] I'll fight for a title.
[798] I dislike the fighting for a title coming off a loss, but the kid is good, and this is actually a pretty interesting fight.
[799] Let's get some questions to kind of...
[800] We're missing out on the chat.
[801] Missed out on the chat a little bit.
[802] RGBA is booming right now.
[803] Yes, Robert Garcia Boxing Academy.
[804] I did four camps there.
[805] Ryo seems like he might be drained.
[806] He's talking really slow.
[807] And I may be wrong, but I sense a little bit of fear.
[808] I don't know about that.
[809] Didn't see any of that.
[810] I saw a lot of confidence.
[811] I saw a lot of, like, looking past this guy.
[812] The fuck is Edwin, though?
[813] Edwin De Los Santos.
[814] That's, like, the guy with Shakur.
[815] Is that where the fuck is Edwin, or is it just TF?
[816] I think the fuck is Edwin, though.
[817] I don't know.
[818] I don't want to watch this fight because I'm scared to watch Tank shit the bag.
[819] Or S the bag.
[820] S -U -C -K the bag.
[821] Suck the bag.
[822] sucker i don't know what that i gotta really vet these comments uh no the is dude who fought charlo constantiano i don't know what that means s tank why you declined to fight connor ben who cares connor ben's fighting eubank in a egg egg matchup in 30 30 pounds heavier chris what are the chances stuttering john melendez boxes surely edgar i don't know either of those people who are gonna win easily i don't know about easily How do you say that?
[823] Against Sandor?
[824] Let's go to that fight.
[825] Sandor Martin versus Alberto Pueblo.
[826] Alberto Pueblo is a world champion, like we just talked about.
[827] Sandor Martin has been the mandatory for 15 years.
[828] He's wanted this fight.
[829] Arguably beat Teofimo Lopez.
[830] Beat Mikey Garcia.
[831] Set Mikey Garcia into retirement.
[832] Set Mikey Garcia into driving his cars and being like a taco -eating large man now.
[833] Large man. He's big.
[834] I mean, he's not.
[835] He's fat.
[836] He's not a big man. He's a heavy man. He's a heavy man. And he drives.
[837] He's good for him.
[838] He never really loved the game.
[839] He just wanted to make money, and he did.
[840] Loves tacos and cars.
[841] Sando Martin versus Puerto Pueblo.
[842] Let's take a look at the DraftKings.
[843] Another close one.
[844] Sando Martin plus 105, which I really like.
[845] Puerto Pueblo minus 130.
[846] I think this is the fight that goes the distance.
[847] Over under a set at 10 and a half.
[848] Sandor Martin by decision plus 160, which is even bigger odds than the money line.
[849] I kind of like take that.
[850] Martin's not going to knock out Pueblo.
[851] No, this fight's going to distance.
[852] If you're going to bet this fight and you want to earn some money, if you want to get something back from it, it's the Sandor Martin decision.
[853] That's the bet if you're looking to play, but that's not a guarantee by any means.
[854] Ari Elliott says salute to Chris.
[855] Salute.
[856] Yeah, I like this fight.
[857] It's the...
[858] second fight of the night, and there's some implications here.
[859] There's a lot of implications.
[860] We got the second fight and third fight, the co -main event, are two 140 -pound champions.
[861] If Puelo wins or Martin wins and Venezuela wins, they could fight each other.
[862] There's talk of the four of those guys, Gary Antoine Russell as well, being a future opponent for Tank.
[863] You can never rule that out with PBC.
[864] You can never rule that out putting them on the same card.
[865] You can never rule out Tank fighting at 140.
[866] He was asked about that, even though he's very small.
[867] Good fight.
[868] I think it's going to go the distance.
[869] It could potentially be a snoozer.
[870] Yeah, I don't expect a barn burner at all in this fight.
[871] Like I said, I expect that the distance, both guys are tricky.
[872] Both guys are cuties.
[873] Both guys aren't super aggressive.
[874] It's going to be weird to see how their styles match.
[875] I really don't know.
[876] I don't know how this fight's really going to look.
[877] This is the first fight of the pay -per -view portion.
[878] Knockout specialist.
[879] Not a one -punch knockout guy, but an accumulator.
[880] Has some really, really nice knockouts.
[881] Young guy, too.
[882] I think he's 23, 24.
[883] Versus Julian J. Rock Williams.
[884] 34 years old, former Unified Champion.
[885] Beat Jared Hurd, who's also on this card on the free Amazon portion.
[886] These are the widest odds besides the co -main event.
[887] No one's really giving Julian J. Rock Williams a shot in this fight.
[888] Yeah.
[889] Tellez is a streaking young talent.
[890] He's fighting a former world champion in Julian J. Rock, who actually is a former unified champion.
[891] He had two titles.
[892] He did.
[893] Not an undisputed, but unified.
[894] So it's a big step up in class in terms of getting a name in your document.
[895] 34 years old, a little long in the tooth.
[896] He looked drained at the weigh -in.
[897] Did J -Rock.
[898] His face is naturally kind of like that.
[899] No, but even the way he was talking.
[900] You would know better than me. Yeah, he had the hollow voice, which I'm not saying.
[901] Listen, you can get it back, but it's tougher when you're older to get it back.
[902] Yeah, it's hard to go against Deleuze in this one.
[903] If you are, you're just going off of the experience.
[904] Yeah, he's lost three of his last five fights, Julian J -Rock Williams.
[905] Yeah, three of his last five.
[906] Oh, he lost to Vladimir Hernandez.
[907] That's right.
[908] He lost to Carlos Adamas, got stopped in the ninth round.
[909] He's coming off of a win over Gustavo Vitori.
[910] Vladimir Hernandez split decision loss.
[911] Jason Rosario in 2020 was a stoppage.
[912] And he can be stopped.
[913] I mean, he's been stopped twice since 2020.
[914] And that's giving me all I need to kind of hear here.
[915] Tellez by KO is minus 600.
[916] That's crazy.
[917] Yeah.
[918] So Vegas is really back in the punch room.
[919] but you might want to look at round betting for this fight um tellez let's see tellez in rounds seven through nine and i've watched so as a bunch like he's fought a lot of these mvp cards and um he's not a one punch knockout guy he is he'll soften his his opponent up and you'll be like why he's he's so much better than this guy's in the ring with why is he like kind of playing with his food a little bit And then he'll score out of nowhere, a highly real knockout.
[920] So if you think around 7 through 9 or 10 through 12, plus money for Tellez to get the stoppage over J -Rock.
[921] I do think he's going to stop J -Rock one way or another.
[922] Just when is it going to happen?
[923] Yeah, it depends.
[924] And that's the tougher thing with guys that are in the twilight of their career.
[925] It's like, what do they have left?
[926] What are they going to show up?
[927] Because he can go out there and listen.
[928] J -Rock has a high boxing IQ.
[929] Um, talented guy, big for the weight class, good power, respectable in every way, really, really solid guy.
[930] Uh, if he shows up and he goes out there and, and, and starts boxing, uses experience, you know, Philly, Philly style, Philly fighter, being able to, you know, make it ugly for a guy who hasn't been in there.
[931] You know, he, he, he could very much be in this fight.
[932] Um, but you know, if he shows up and he's looking his age, then.
[933] It's going to be a rough night.
[934] That is the main card.
[935] That is on ppv .com.
[936] Join us in the live interactive chat.
[937] You know by now what goes on in there.
[938] Chris answers all your questions, dating questions, nutrition questions, life questions.
[939] Anything else like home renovation questions?
[940] Yeah, I'm pretty handy with a hammer.
[941] Style questions?
[942] Yeah, clothing, hair.
[943] Mostly dating though.
[944] Mostly dating.
[945] That's the majority of the other outside boxing questions that I guess.
[946] Mostly dating.
[947] Yeah, and then PBC on Prime Video prelims starting at 6 p .m. Eastern, which you get free on Prime.
[948] Jared Hurd.
[949] Remember him?
[950] Former 154 -pound champion versus Johan Gonzalez, who is a knockout artist.
[951] 28 knockouts and 30 fights.
[952] Jared Hurd says, if I don't win this fight, I'm out.
[953] These are two recent Pro Box TV alums.
[954] Both fought on our air.
[955] Johan fought on our air a couple times, actually, and Jared had his last fight against...
[956] uh rosario where they fall to a draw i believe that was his last fight and i agree champ it hurt if you can't beat you want gonzalez you should probably hang it up not anything against gonzalez gonzalez is a very tough guy but he's looking like he's looking like he's better he's like i was in the fighter meeting and and gonzalez wasn't in it it was just hurt and he was like looking like oh i can't beat this guy i'm done he's right zero respect for him he's right you got the punch man but it's not it's not it's not because gonzalez isn't isn't good You know, he's a tough guy.
[957] He's physical as hell.
[958] You've seen his physique.
[959] The guy's jacked.
[960] And he can, you know, he can punch against lesser opposition.
[961] But the guy's got a gas tank like a son of a bitch.
[962] Yeah, I'm looking forward to that fight.
[963] That's the quote -unquote main event of the prelim portion.
[964] I'll be your ringside reporter.
[965] David Whitmire versus Angelo Munoz.
[966] Derek Davis versus Jamal Johnson.
[967] These were just added.
[968] There was a little bit of shuffling on the undercard of this, which sent our production team into a tizzy.
[969] Yeah, they're working hard over there.
[970] Got a production meeting later on at 5 o 'clock right here in this hotel.
[971] If anyone gives it a hoot.
[972] Before we say goodbye, there's some boxing news, Chris.
[973] Turkey, Al Shalik, ever heard of him?
[974] I've heard of him.
[975] He just announced May 2nd is official.
[976] We will be getting a...
[977] ridiculous card full of superstars ryan garcia fighting roley romero devin haney fighting jose ramirez and then we have teofimo lopez fighting arnold barboza may 2nd times square and it's on pay -per -view so we're getting teofimo ryan garcia and devin haney on the same card but they're not fighting each other Still intriguing fights, but not friending each other.
[978] This will be the first time in history, at least of my knowledge, that I am more interested in watching the press conference than the actual fights.
[979] Because the matchups aren't great.
[980] Really?
[981] The matchups aren't great.
[982] You don't think so?
[983] Nah, matchups aren't great.
[984] Haney and Ramirez.
[985] Ryan Rowley should be fun.
[986] That's a fun fight.
[987] That's like a tough man contest.
[988] They're going to be swinging.
[989] It's going to be great.
[990] But the press conference, how do you, I mean.
[991] Roley's hilarious in pressers.
[992] Ryan is off the wall at all times, and he can't miss TV.
[993] Tiffino Lopez is a show stealer.
[994] He's going to try and assert himself into that mix.
[995] Barboza's going to be crickets.
[996] But, you know, you've got – the rest of these guys are going to be – well, actually, maybe not because Barboza has bad bubble Tiffino, so we can talk a lot of shit.
[997] It's going to be awesome.
[998] Press is going to be better than fights.
[999] The fights aren't really doing it for me. It's in Times Square.
[1000] There's supposedly Haney supposed to fight.
[1001] uh ryan garcia in october after this time square it's in time square what does that mean i don't know if you guys have never been to time square don't go uh number one number two it's like never been lucky you there's like a little area i want to say like where there's that like amphitheater thing that i don't know people do there yeah i think it's i think it's the steps i think they're gonna do it at the steps just put the ring in front of the steps or or replace the steps for a day i think it's free for like outdoors I mean, wasn't that the deal outdoors?
[1002] It's not like a lot of real estate.
[1003] It's like a thin, they might have to close it down.
[1004] Like they're going to throw an insane amount of money.
[1005] They're going to need a lot of security.
[1006] It's a pretty dangerous area.
[1007] I don't think they are also like, I've heard it's free of charge tickets.
[1008] I could be wrong now.
[1009] It's on pay -per -view.
[1010] This is wild.
[1011] It's nuts.
[1012] It's just Turkey being crazy.
[1013] Whatever.
[1014] Whatever.
[1015] Boxing.
[1016] We've always called boxing the wild, wild west.
[1017] Now it really is.
[1018] Like, let's go.
[1019] Open it up.
[1020] It's absolutely berserk.
[1021] It's crazy to see all these.
[1022] the three of these guys on the same card.
[1023] It's going to be nuts to see him on the dais.
[1024] Tiafimo versus Barboza is the fight that just got added to this.
[1025] Barboza was supposed to be fighting Hitchens that fell out.
[1026] Barboza with that big win over Caterall.
[1027] Now he gets his title shot.
[1028] He's been mandatory or in that discussion, Barboza, for Tiafimo for a long time.
[1029] And he does not like Tiafimo.
[1030] Right.
[1031] And we know that what gives Tiafimo fits are boxers.
[1032] I don't personally love the way Barboza fights.
[1033] Do you think he can box and move enough to give Tiafimo fits?
[1034] Yes.
[1035] Low -output boxers, Sandro Martin, give Teofimo Lopez trouble.
[1036] And Barboza's one of those guys.
[1037] He's developed his boxing IQ over the years.
[1038] He's not an eye -catching guy.
[1039] You're not going to leave your jaw drop when you're watching a Barboza fight.
[1040] But he's solid in everything he does.
[1041] He's big for the weight class.
[1042] He's got a nice, solid jab.
[1043] He fights with the back foot pretty well.
[1044] He doesn't take chances if he doesn't need to.
[1045] which I've actually never seen him need to.
[1046] So he doesn't take chances.
[1047] So he can be a defensive, back -footed boxer, which gives Teofimo Lopez trouble.
[1048] Love the card.
[1049] Interesting.
[1050] I think there's a press conference supposedly next week in New York City.
[1051] I don't know if they're all going to be at that.
[1052] I've heard Ryan Garcia is going to be there.
[1053] Also heard there's a Canelo press conference Thursday in New York City to announce his big partnership with Turkey.
[1054] Were you saying the same week?
[1055] Yeah.
[1056] So then definitely Ryan.
[1057] We'll be there.
[1058] If Canelo's there, Ryan's there.
[1059] That's huge.
[1060] New York City is becoming...
[1061] I like that I'm a New Yorker.
[1062] I like the fact we're both New Yorkers.
[1063] We live in Florida now.
[1064] I'm a New Yorker.
[1065] I love that this tank fight is here in Brooklyn.
[1066] I love that we're getting a fight in Times Square.
[1067] It's crazy.
[1068] It's going to be a crazy scene.
[1069] Bring some fights back to New York.
[1070] Obviously, we know about Saudi.
[1071] And with their stranglehold on the sport.
[1072] But also, it's cool because it's New York, right?
[1073] Everyone knows New York is great.
[1074] But you're going to get the crossover appeal of all of those fighters.
[1075] Those are all crossover guys.
[1076] You've got Ryan.
[1077] You've got Devin.
[1078] You've got Teo.
[1079] You know, you've got crossover appeal.
[1080] So it's going to bring a lot of attention to the sport, but also to New York, the city we love.
[1081] All right.
[1082] Lastly, before we say goodbye, Connor, Ben, Chris Eubank had to get your thoughts on this wild press conference that featured an egg.
[1083] a gate a gate 2025 eubank eubank smacks um ben with an egg at the press conference he supposedly came with like a dozen eggs in his uh backpack here in the u .s that's a sign of extreme wealth those eggs are on the rise but in the uk apparently the inflation hasn't hit the uk everyone was yelling at me on twitter because i said i made that joke um but what did you make of all that fell flat on british ears yeah they were like you just think everything revolves around the us i was like there we go egg joke move on uh what did you think of that press conference and what uh i mean How was that?
[1084] I wasn't really into this fight.
[1085] I'm going to say it kind of hooked me in.
[1086] That's what this is doing.
[1087] This is why we market fights.
[1088] This is why bad blood sells.
[1089] What did I say?
[1090] Everyone understands beef.
[1091] You got these guys who have a legitimate beef.
[1092] Dude, the egg thing was super clever.
[1093] I normally don't like shit like that, but that was really...
[1094] I think it was too much.
[1095] Do you think it was like – It looked very staged.
[1096] A slap is one thing.
[1097] We've seen that.
[1098] We've seen the shoves.
[1099] We've seen slaps.
[1100] Ken Alvarez, Kayla Plant, the slap heard around the world.
[1101] He brought in an accessory, right?
[1102] Yeah.
[1103] Like an egg isn't like – I mean, Eddie Hearn said, that thing exploded like glass.
[1104] Yeah, it looked horrible.
[1105] It looks crazy.
[1106] Yeah, that was bad.
[1107] Don't do that.
[1108] But like it's – I wouldn't say it's a weapon, but like – That could have gone bad.
[1109] I think the BBOC made a comment about that.
[1110] Not so much about the Agassi issue, the fact that he hit him.
[1111] That's a real problem with us.
[1112] Listen, I agree.
[1113] You shouldn't be able to put hands on guys before fights.
[1114] But I don't hate it, especially when it's real.
[1115] I know these guys don't like each other, but I don't know if they're really those guys who are going to be like...
[1116] This isn't Mike Tyson jumping across the dais at somebody that he really wants to kill.
[1117] It was very clever.
[1118] He was very, very clever.
[1119] But Eubank is very clever with his trash talk.
[1120] He was going after Eddie.
[1121] He's very clever with the way that he goes at people.
[1122] And he gets under your skin.
[1123] He doesn't raise his voice.
[1124] No, he stays very, very calm.
[1125] This fight has so many layers.
[1126] Obviously, the top layer is Eubank and Ben.
[1127] I think the top layer is actually their fathers.
[1128] The dads.
[1129] It's an onion here.
[1130] The top layer is the dads who fought and had one of the most bitter rivals.
[1131] Now, the kids.
[1132] and and them fighting throw in the connor ben drug stuff throw in eubank uh formerly with eddie hearn and now with shalom shalom hates eddie hearn uh eubank is not afraid to talk shit to eddie hearn's face eddie hearn hates that eddie hearn does not like taking a backseat to anyone at these press conference he wants to be front and center now the egg slap and it's going to be at not wembley it's going to be at one big stadium i'm in now i mean i don't think the fight really means nothing like there's no title on the line it's a 160 pounder fighting a 147.
[1133] see that fancy belt they put together the egg belt the egg belt it's got some sunny side some big massive ugly belt that they're fighting for which again oh is that the fatal fury belt yeah fatal fury is the video game that turkey's like it's like the the main sponsor uh whatever like years ago like Three years ago, this might have been like the premier fight on the boxing schedule.
[1134] I was actually excited for it the first time.
[1135] Me too.
[1136] I was.
[1137] But my point is like a few years ago before we got these big fights around the clock now because of Saudi and whatever, this would have been kind of like the premier fight.
[1138] But now it's like an add -in.
[1139] And that's what I believe it should be.
[1140] It's like a big fight in the UK.
[1141] I don't know if Americans care as much as the UK fans do.
[1142] Obviously, they don't.
[1143] I'm curious what American fans think of this fight.
[1144] But Ben being the piranha and being such a freaking heel.
[1145] And Eubank kind of like doing the egg thing.
[1146] And Eddie losing his fucking mind.
[1147] It's funny because it's two guys that a lot of people don't like.
[1148] A lot of people don't like Eubank.
[1149] A lot of people don't like Ben.
[1150] Ben's definitely taking the heel position in this from what you see on socials.
[1151] But it's interesting that you're getting these two guys fighting each other over.
[1152] Where did the beef come from?
[1153] Is it just because they're parents?
[1154] I don't get it.
[1155] Yeah.
[1156] It's just their dads.
[1157] Yeah.
[1158] Just because they're born into it.
[1159] And now with the drug use.
[1160] Born into beef.
[1161] Born beef.
[1162] They had a name for it that was pretty cool for the first one.
[1163] I forgot what it was.
[1164] That's it, guys.
[1165] That's our episode.
[1166] Final thoughts on Tank vs. Roach, which will be at Saturday night.
[1167] Stream it live on ppb .com.
[1168] I guess we'll do predictions.
[1169] Prediction time for Tank vs. Roach.
[1170] I like Javante Davis to win rounds 7 through 9.
[1171] This is what he does.
[1172] Low output.
[1173] He'll download the data.
[1174] He'll figure it out.
[1175] He'll walk Roach down.
[1176] He'll detonate a bomb.
[1177] He'll do a backflip.
[1178] He will then call someone out because he told me he was going to call someone out a few weeks ago.
[1179] And hopefully it's a big name and everyone goes home happy.
[1180] Another tank knockout.
[1181] I think we actually see a pretty high boxing IQ match.
[1182] I think these guys are going to fence.
[1183] And I think that tank is going to want to show his boxing IQ and he's going to try and match it with Lil Mons.
[1184] But eventually the power is going to be the difference.
[1185] But I do think we see the 12th.
[1186] 12th round.
[1187] 12th round or the final bell?
[1188] I think we hear the final bell.
[1189] Tank by decision.
[1190] I got tank by decision.
[1191] Wow.
[1192] I think Roach boxes well enough and is physical enough and is savvy enough to not.
[1193] Because Martin just couldn't get away from those shots.
[1194] I think Roach can.
[1195] So I think we do see the end of this fight.
[1196] That'd be interesting.
[1197] That would certainly be something.
[1198] We see the final bell.
[1199] That is our episode this week.
[1200] Thank you so much for joining our live.
[1201] We'll have this audio out as well in podcast form.
[1202] Love everyone in the chat.
[1203] It's the coolest way to interact with you guys.

[1205] Any final words, Chris?
[1206] No, man. I love tank fights.
[1207] You know, we love tank on the show.
[1208] So I'm excited for the whole weekend and being in New York, being my man here.
[1209] Let's go.
