Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard XX
[0] I love this sweater.
[1] Is it really like an O -G?
[2] I think so.
[3] I got it at the Rose Bowl for market.
[4] Ooh.
[5] We were just talking about the man versus bear.
[6] A man versus bear.
[7] I was like, I knew.
[8] I was like, do you think Monica hasn't seen it?
[9] Well, I saw you did a newsletter.
[10] Okay, so you know about it.
[11] What were you saying?
[12] But do you know what the thing is?
[13] Like the prompt?
[14] No. It was like an internet trend.
[15] Oh, what was it?
[16] Where this guy made this video and he asked these women on this.
[17] street, would you rather be alone in the forest with a bear or a man?
[18] Oh, fuck.
[19] That's a hard question.
[20] Right?
[21] You would think it's an easy one and then you start thinking.
[22] It should be an easy one.
[23] It should.
[24] What would be your answer?
[25] I guess I'd probably rather have a man in the forest because I could at least use manipulative tactics.
[26] But on a bear, they're just going to mall you.
[27] You can't manipulate a bear in two.
[28] Exactly.
[29] respect.
[30] Interesting.
[31] What would you pick or what did you pick?
[32] I think it's a great question.
[33] And it, first, you want to say, of course, a man, but then you think through the options.
[34] And I was like, oh, no, like 100 % a bear, because at least with a bear, I'll die.
[35] And with a man, it's like, who knows what's going to happen.
[36] You'd rather definitely die than be kidnapped and put into someone's basement.
[37] So we're for certain this is a bad dude.
[38] Well, I think it's the unknown of like it might be.
[39] Exactly.
[40] So you think it's a strong enough possibility that it's a bad dude that you would pick that.
[41] Or that he turns into a bad dude.
[42] We're alone for an unlimited amount of time.
[43] I think it's not just like an afternoon.
[44] If I'm stuck there, I think the bear.
[45] I think the bear would be less of a threat.
[46] Interesting.
[47] So do you think all men will turn evil?
[48] I don't think all men.
[49] But all bears will.
[50] No, a lot of bears, I love that you didn't even know about it.
[51] This is how much it's great.
[52] It's been like a whole internet discourse, right?
[53] And there's been like many levels of it.
[54] So the first level was sort of this conversation.
[55] Then there was another level from women who work with bears or like, and women being like, I've encountered, you know, hundreds of bears in my life and I've only been attacked once by a man. Stuff like that of just acknowledging sort of the difference in the likelihood and bear experts or natural wildlife experts speaking to that If there are people who are attacked by bears every year, but it's not actually that frequent.
[56] That's because the encounters aren't frequent.
[57] No, but even proportionally speaking, like the fact that one in four women will be assaulted, it's not one and four people who interact with a bear will be assaulted.
[58] But I don't think that's exactly an appropriate analogy because the women are interacting with a ton of men and one bear.
[59] Yeah, but it's the same proportion with the amount of, I mean, again.
[60] But it's not the same proportion because the quantity is actually different.
[61] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[62] I think if it was pure numbers, then I think you're right.
[63] But it's proportionally speaking.
[64] So you have four guys and four bears.
[65] There's one of the guys that's going to assault you.
[66] And it's not one in four bears that's going to assault you.
[67] It's like lower.
[68] How can they know that?
[69] I mean, according to a while, like, so far in the same way that we examine and observe men and like, you know, human beings, the likelihood of it happening.
[70] But again, to me that that's actually less important.
[71] What's really important is sort of the idea that like I'd rather done.
[72] die at the hands of a bear because then it'll just be done rather than like whatever unknown I'm facing with a man and sort of just like how omnipresent the threat of sexual assault is, I think, for women.
[73] It's everywhere.
[74] It is funny because often when we'd have these conversations, I do think it's an interesting role reversal because I don't invite very many like strange men into my life, but you do.
[75] So it's kind of funny that you'll say you'll rather die when you kind of spend a life putting yourself in this forest all the time.
[76] That's true.
[77] And I don't.
[78] So I should be more on the side of the bear.
[79] You should be more on the side of the bear.
[80] Also, so many men have been upset about this.
[81] I would be.
[82] Of course.
[83] I feel that this is a little extreme personally.
[84] It's so interesting.
[85] Go get me wrong.
[86] Right.
[87] So a lot of men are upset and saying, you know, women hate men.
[88] And I was like, no, we actually love men.
[89] Like the fact that we are willing to still, again, I'll meet up with strange men all the time in an attempt to connect and to be in a relationship.
[90] with a man, despite a lot of negative experiences with men and the sort of threat that's over all of us.
[91] So to me, it's like, this shows how much women believe in men and love men that we're willing to do it, regardless.
[92] Does that make sense?
[93] Yeah, I think so.
[94] So I'm afraid of men, but I still will, like, take a risk with them because I love them.
[95] Yeah.
[96] So I think the truth is you would pick the man. No, I would pick the bear, but I'll still, I'm willing to put up with the risk of being hurt by a man to connect with a man. Women have been asking their husbands, if they have a daughter, who would you rather be in for us, be alone with our daughter, a man or a bear?
[97] And that's when you see a lot of men, again, do the, like, actual calculation.
[98] Yeah.
[99] Anyway, I love this kind of stuff.
[100] You don't think you could just, like, manipulate him?
[101] The man?
[102] Yeah.
[103] How would you manipulate?
[104] I mean, also, I guess, like, are we trying to get out?
[105] Or are we just, like, there?
[106] That's a question.
[107] Because if we're just there, I feel like we'd just be like, I guess we're together now.
[108] Oh, you would...
[109] Your chances of survival are higher with another person in general.
[110] So I think you could sort of logically be like, time to team up now.
[111] Like if you're stranded on an island.
[112] Do you mean sexually?
[113] I guess probably.
[114] Okay.
[115] I'd probably be like, if I'm literally here forever, this is the person.
[116] Wow.
[117] And then they probably wouldn't be assaulting me because I've just like, well, be together now.
[118] You're my would -see husband.
[119] A lot of people were in relationships assault each other.
[120] But you would be consenting.
[121] Yeah, I would just be like, I'm consenting now to this scenario.
[122] Okay, so you would force yourself to like him.
[123] I think.
[124] Yes.
[125] That's a strategy.
[126] Self -manipulation a little bit too.
[127] It is to like survive.
[128] I mean, a lot of people self -manipulate to survive.
[129] Pretty much all of us do.
[130] That's a way to do it.
[131] And what would be a non -starter?
[132] What would you not be able to force yourself to like?
[133] Like, if he was...
[134] What if he has the smell?
[135] Oh.
[136] God.
[137] You'd probably, like, start liking the smell.
[138] That's what I bet.
[139] I do wonder that.
[140] If you made a full decision, like, this is who it's going to be.
[141] There's no other options in this life.
[142] At that point, you don't even want to be with someone.
[143] You have to.
[144] So it is different than, like, our life, obviously.
[145] So I bet you would start liking the smell.
[146] I bet the pheromones would start just melding together.
[147] Wow.
[148] We could probably do that in life, just make a hard decision.
[149] Should we pretend like we're in the woods when we're on date?
[150] It's just hard because there's much more than just that one person.
[151] It's true.
[152] I mean, I've really tried.
[153] You know this.
[154] I really put in the effort to try and like people that I don't like it.
[155] Yeah.
[156] Well, it's hard when you can be without someone.
[157] Like, we don't need people for survival.
[158] I mean, we need people.
[159] We don't need a partner for survival in 2024 Los Felas.
[160] Yes.
[161] But, 2024 Woods, only one other being.
[162] That's a different scenario.
[163] I mean, it's sort of like how it used to be in the olden days.
[164] You just couldn't divorce.
[165] Like, you were stuck with a person you hated.
[166] You're like, all right, let's do this.
[167] Have you thought any more about our dates since we've been on it?
[168] So much.
[169] Do you have updates?
[170] Do you have updated thoughts?
[171] A lot of people work.
[172] excited about it.
[173] I feel like a lot of people were texting.
[174] I got annoyed after a while.
[175] I was like, I don't really want to, I've already told it that story.
[176] I agree.
[177] So many texts in the morning.
[178] How was it?
[179] How was it?
[180] I just wanted to like send everyone a video.
[181] But no, it was sweet.
[182] Okay, so I did learn new intel, which I thought was sweet or like funny, which is that the LinkedIn guy, the main guy, not the main guy, but the guy who, you know, found the other, he went to dinner a few days before our double date with my friend who set us up and he said that he was like nervous like basically my my friend was like did you think the other guy was good looking like were you into the other guy and I was like no like I was so into LinkedIn guy and she was like oh because he said that he was nervous that you would like his friend more oh interesting so okay that answers a question a little bit because we were wondering like have they what have they thought about and It also is sort of similar to how we felt, which was like, are we going to be competing?
[183] Is there going to be this weird energy?
[184] And so that's funny.
[185] I just never think that guys, I don't know.
[186] I know you don't give them very much credit.
[187] And in some ways, you give them way too much credit.
[188] 100 % accurate.
[189] I never do it when it's right.
[190] And it's ruining my life.
[191] But it's good because now we learn that piece.
[192] Yes.
[193] So I thought that was funny.
[194] And then he's.
[195] traveling.
[196] He's like, I'll text you when I get back from my trip.
[197] We'd love to hang out again.
[198] Great.
[199] So I'm waiting for the text, but I'm confident.
[200] No, that's great.
[201] So that's where we are.
[202] That's where we're at.
[203] And what do you have updated thoughts?
[204] I have updated thoughts in the sense where I've been like, is Monica going to want to see the other guy?
[205] Are we all hanging out again?
[206] Right.
[207] These are great questions.
[208] What are we doing?
[209] What are your updated thoughts?
[210] I don't have that many.
[211] I mean, I did the next day think, do I want to see that other guy again?
[212] And I'm kind of neutral on it.
[213] Yeah.
[214] And because of the way this all was arranged, I don't have access to that person.
[215] So I'd have to, like, we'd have to go through some channels to do it.
[216] That hurdle alone, because I don't really want to jump it, to me is sort of telling.
[217] But if we're all hanging out again, I'll be happy to chat with him more.
[218] I just am not like, oh my gosh, I really want to keep talking.
[219] But he was great.
[220] Yeah.
[221] That was that update.
[222] And just that I think I really liked that that is how I was perceiving all of it.
[223] At no point was I like, could I partner up with this person?
[224] Because I do really think that's the best way to go on a first date is not have that ruminating thought.
[225] the whole time, which is what we all do.
[226] But this allowed, and again, specifically this, where I was like, I was coming as your friend and he was coming as his friend.
[227] If I was in your position, it would have been a little harder or different.
[228] Exactly, a little more pressure.
[229] But for me, it was zero, and that was really nice.
[230] Oh, I see.
[231] You already had this sort of setupy thing happen.
[232] So there was a little bit more pressure on the two of you to sort of, like, see if you liked each other.
[233] And it was like, and we'll just like bring our buddies, which is less.
[234] It's like great if for some reason we just really hit it off like crazy.
[235] But other than that, it's just fun.
[236] Oh, okay.
[237] Because, yeah, afterwards I was like, when we recorded, you were like, I didn't even think about it.
[238] And I was like, wait, how did you not think about it?
[239] But you're right.
[240] We have different role.
[241] Like, there's a little bit different.
[242] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[243] Wow.
[244] And so being, would you prefer being in the role of the setupee or the setuper?
[245] I liked the position, but also if I was getting set up, I think I would maybe also like this.
[246] It's different.
[247] It's different.
[248] One thing I did not bring up in the episode, but I think is huge about what we did, is you could have things said about yourself that you would normally not say about yourself that are like braggy, but the other person says it.
[249] And that is such a hack.
[250] Because obviously there are things that, like, would be cringy to bring up about yourself, but it's kind of nice for the other people to know it.
[251] You have a hype woman.
[252] Yeah, like built in.
[253] Yeah.
[254] Because there was a couple times, like, well, they had said that they had been to India.
[255] That's how it kind of started.
[256] They had said they'd been to India.
[257] And then Liz said, oh, Monica just went to India.
[258] And then they said, where did you go?
[259] And I was like, well, it wasn't, it was for work.
[260] And so it wasn't very luxurious.
[261] We went to, and I was, like, listening to Cities.
[262] And then you were just like, she went to India with Bill Gates.
[263] And they were like, oh, whoa.
[264] And, like, that is obviously, I wouldn't have said that.
[265] Right.
[266] But I was kind of glad you did because it did clarify some of what I was, like, then I felt.
[267] Yeah.
[268] So, like, little things like that.
[269] And then I think you had said something.
[270] And I was like, oh, Liz, like, wrote a book.
[271] That part's nice And they were doing that for each other as well Were they?
[272] LinkedIn guy was doing it for his friend.
[273] Okay, got it.
[274] I noticed it a couple times.
[275] Oh, that's sweet.
[276] I was like, this is nice.
[277] Yeah, it's friends.
[278] Friends, but things you are self -conscious about saying, you don't have to say.
[279] Right.
[280] I think it's the best way to do it.
[281] That was the best date I've been on.
[282] Do you want me to stop by your second date?
[283] Yes.
[284] I just pop my head in.
[285] I'll be sad when you're not there.
[286] But I also know it's like, it would be weird if I was like, I'm bringing Monica again.
[287] I mean, I think we could all hang out again, but if you're interested, you should do a couple dates solo at this point.
[288] Okay.
[289] What are you guys going to do, do you think?
[290] I don't know.
[291] Tennis?
[292] I hope so.
[293] He likes to do yoga.
[294] And then I thought, like, we should go to yoga.
[295] And I was like, no, because like sweaty yoga, hot yoga is too hot.
[296] And you're like spreading, like, guys, I've done it.
[297] And as soon as I'm in it, I'm like, why did I do this?
[298] Like, you can go to yoga with your boy.
[299] friend or girlfriend.
[300] Husband or wife, really.
[301] I think you kind of need to be at that level.
[302] Molly and Eric go to hot yoga.
[303] It's really cute.
[304] And it's adorable.
[305] I think that's so sweet.
[306] But not when you're trying a quarter is not the best.
[307] But I don't know.
[308] I'll see.
[309] He lives on the west side.
[310] So that's like the big question is like, where do we go?
[311] We did have to drive far away for our date.
[312] We did.
[313] And they did too.
[314] But still.
[315] I know.
[316] Anyhow.
[317] Okay.
[318] So those are sort of updated thoughts.
[319] So I dropped you off after we recorded.
[320] And I got home and I was about to start my period.
[321] I was starting it.
[322] I started it since then.
[323] But, you know, it was coming.
[324] It was like the next day.
[325] So I did feel a little, maybe it's just because our adrenaline was so high.
[326] It was.
[327] That I did feel a little down.
[328] Oh.
[329] And I was trying to sit with why.
[330] And I really think it was probably just mainly chemical.
[331] Like, again, we were like, oh, no, this adrenaline.
[332] And then it's over.
[333] And it was over.
[334] And it was over.
[335] And then I was kind of like, it's over.
[336] and there's nothing a little bit.
[337] Not that there was nothing.
[338] We had like a great night, but I don't know.
[339] I would see why that would happen because now I get to, I mean, I got to continue.
[340] And unless you take the step and do it and want to do it, it is like, oh, that happened.
[341] And then now it's over.
[342] It's like the morning after Christmas.
[343] Yeah.
[344] But we can go on another double date.
[345] We can.
[346] I would do it again.
[347] Or you could hang out with that guy again.
[348] I could.
[349] It wasn't like sparks.
[350] Yeah.
[351] Which sometimes it's not.
[352] But, yeah, I don't know.
[353] I hate that part of like when people are like, you're not supposed to feel sparks.
[354] It's confusing.
[355] Like how many sparks?
[356] Can you feel like about like two to half?
[357] Yes.
[358] Because I felt some little sparks and I was like a little high off of that.
[359] And then I was like, is that bad?
[360] Little sparks I think is good.
[361] It's fine.
[362] But I do think it can, depending on our tendencies, I don't think it's great when it's like, oh my gosh, I'm dead.
[363] I'm head over heels after two hours of generic talking.
[364] But it's like a little, I get, like I get this sense of, yeah, like he's great.
[365] I definitely want to see him again.
[366] He seems really, really cool.
[367] That's great.
[368] And ooh, like this is exciting.
[369] But full, like I really like him is, I think where to dial back a tiny bit.
[370] But then I will, like, sober up and believe that.
[371] And then I'll watch, like, the idea of you.
[372] Oh, my God.
[373] And then I'm like, I can have this.
[374] This insane.
[375] Did you watch a whole movie?
[376] I surprisingly did.
[377] I could not stop.
[378] It was late, but I couldn't turn it off.
[379] They shouted out all the time, which I loved.
[380] It's huge.
[381] After I started on your story, I decided to watch it.
[382] Oh, yeah.
[383] What did you think?
[384] I'm so curious.
[385] Well, you know, I'm such a rom -com girl.
[386] That's my bread and butter.
[387] Same.
[388] I love them.
[389] It was, like, very.
[390] nodding hill vibes.
[391] So I enjoyed it.
[392] Like, I'm pretty much going to generally enjoy a romantic comedy.
[393] I mean, I didn't feel, so you watched it and you were like, you were excited by it.
[394] Because I watched it and I was sad after.
[395] Oh, my God.
[396] How are you sad?
[397] I was sad.
[398] To me, it was sad.
[399] It ends so well.
[400] It ends with them being together.
[401] No, but that's very convenient writing.
[402] Yeah, and apparently that's not how the book, or like, they made it better than the book.
[403] So it's based off this person's real story, but I think the book is still an imagination.
[404] Yeah.
[405] And then this is an extra level on top of that.
[406] Yeah, I think this woman had an encounter at Coachella, and then that was it.
[407] But then she created this book about it.
[408] Yeah.
[409] And then the movie.
[410] But for me, yeah.
[411] For me, the takeaway is like, sometimes you just can't.
[412] have what you want.
[413] But she literally can't what she wants.
[414] Five years later and I mean, I'm not saying, because I'm not watching that and then I'm not taking that as literal.
[415] I'm just like feeling the vibe of the whole thing.
[416] And my takeaway in general after seeing something like that is life is hard.
[417] Sometimes things just don't work out or you can't have what you want or timing is bad.
[418] Ageism and if the genders were reversed, there would be no problem.
[419] Yeah, they would have no obstacle.
[420] yeah less but well this okay if people don't know the premise is a woman ends up taking her daughter to Coachella she's 40 or 39 and she goes to the bathroom and she accidentally goes into someone's trailer and it's the guy from a boy band and he's 24 so they have this kind of like little interaction and she then starts dating him basically and it gets really complicated because he's a huge star and then this age factor, and it's interesting.
[421] Support for Sinct comes from Vagamore.
[422] We love Vagamore.
[423] It's incredible, clean hair products that really nourish your hair and your scalp.
[424] The scalp piece is huge.
[425] I feel like it's in right now, like scalp health.
[426] It's in.

[429] Like, sometimes I don't even know which chemicals I'm not supposed to have in there.
[430] And I just know with Vegamore, I'm just getting the cleanest product.
[431] Exactly.
[432] I really like their grow -revitalizing shampoo.
[433] Oh, I love their shampoo.
[434] And I agree with you.
[435] All of a sudden, you just start noticing your hair is just really healthy.
[436] You need to get more trims because it is growing.
[437] Yeah, but like it's healthy, which is incredible.

[441] Support for synch comes from Say.
[442] Say is an award -winning clean and sustainable makeup brand sold exclusively at Sephora.
[443] I was just at Sephora the other day.
[444] I just love it in there.
[445] I love it in there.
[446] And Say is an incredible brand.
[447] It's amazing.
[448] I have multiple of their products.
[449] And I really like their slip tint.
[450] Yes.
[451] SPF -35 tinted moisturizer.
[452] It just feels very.
[453] very light on the face, but adds, like, just a nice face.
[454] Yes, exactly.
[455] And it doesn't look like you're wearing any makeup at all.
[456] And they do blush.
[457] I just top it on to the SPF tinted moisturizer.
[458] And it lasts, like, a long time.
[459] Yes.
[460] And speaking of glowy, their glowy super gel is amazing.
[461] It's a kind of like effortless, no makeup, makeup glowing product.
[462] It's a multi -use illuminator, and it hydrates.
[463] and brightens his skin for like a dewy look.
[464] But it's also great because you can sort of mix it.
[465] Like you can put it in with your foundation or whatever you're using, your blush or anything, to just make it like a little extra glowy.
[466] It's sort of an all -purpose product I've found.
[467] It's so great.
[468] It's so pretty.
[469] And the packaging is so pretty.
[470] It feels so long.
[471] Yes, the application is so fun.
[472] I like look forward to it every morning.
[473] Me too.
[474] Yeah.
[475] So check out Say Shop Now at Sephora.
[476] What does you think?
[477] Did you like it?
[478] At first, I didn't.
[479] I was like, this is so every Backstreet Boy song that has led me astray.
[480] This whole idea that I will do anything for you.
[481] Everything I've ever done is about you.
[482] You are my everything.
[483] That is such a...
[484] Yeah, that's bad.
[485] And it's often not going to happen.
[486] No, that is not going to happen.
[487] And I've dated a musician.
[488] And, like, there were parts of it that I just was like, that would never...
[489] Or maybe not never, but in my case, it was like the opposite.
[490] experience of like feeling like the least important where he like sings a lyric about her and then like so I was a little bit rolling my eyes or even the fact that he clearly has never stopped thinking like five years later he's singing this song about her and yeah that's not reality no no but it's a movie exactly but I love the fantasy and I 100 % for most of my life believed in the fantasy and it still fills me with a lot of like giddiness that's why I couldn't stop watching I was like oh my god This is my, not kryptonite, but like my crack maybe, like, I love this kind of stuff.
[491] Right.
[492] But I know it's not, it's not real.
[493] I legitimately used to think that that was possible six months ago.
[494] Okay.
[495] I was going to say, you're right.
[496] If I was susceptible to that feeling, that would be probably a hard movie.
[497] But I guess that's sort of what I mean.
[498] When I turn it off, I'm not thinking about the specifics of the movie.
[499] When you're saying, it ended happy, yeah, sure, the movie ended happy.
[500] But my takeaway about life and relationships is, it's hard.
[501] Okay, I see that.
[502] So is your takeaway, I can have it?
[503] No, well, for me, it's like, I can have this 24.
[504] It's like watching Ocean's 11, where I'm like, oh, my God, this is so exciting.
[505] Like, oh, if I was in this, this would be, but I know that that's not going to happen.
[506] To me, it's like that, or watching reality TV show about a super rich family and it's like fun to see.
[507] I mean, I don't even, it's kind of a weird thing.
[508] Like wish fulfillment.
[509] Yeah, wish fulfillment, but not, oh, this is possible for me. Or something I should try and achieve.
[510] Well, that's the other thing is it was sexy.
[511] Like, he's so sexy, and she is too.
[512] Yes.
[513] And they had good chemistry.
[514] But I wasn't wanting what she had.
[515] In no world, sorry.
[516] Sorry, 24 -year -olds, you're great.
[517] You're going to have a great life.
[518] But I'm not interested at all in getting swept off my feet by a 24 -year -old.
[519] I couldn't really click into that other than like, ooh, this is like sexy and sweet and oh, God, it's hard and, ah.
[520] I mean, I've been exploring with younger men.
[521] 24 is intense, but there are scenes where she's, like, hanging out with his friends and, like, that palpable, and I, you know, have definitely been there where you're, and again, I felt that that was well expressed of just, you can be super connected with someone, but then you're in their life and their environment, and suddenly you're like, right, This is, these are children.
[522] Yes.
[523] Well, that's another reason the double date thing is helpful.
[524] You immediately get to see them with people they're actually interacting with.
[525] That's such a good point.
[526] And they probably got way more information about us from, like, who I'm, you know, that we're friends and how we are friends.
[527] Like, I loved how they were friends.
[528] Yeah, me too.
[529] You know, their backstory was cool.
[530] There was, like, something pretty deep about their friendship, which I felt like was attractive.
[531] Yeah.
[532] Okay.
[533] Hey, also there's a part in the movie.
[534] During the movie, she's wearing this blue bikini.
[535] And then she's at the pool with him and his friends.
[536] And so she, like, gets out her blue bikini.
[537] And then she looks out the window and she sees all these young girls in hot bathing suits.
[538] And so she puts the blue bikini away and puts on a one piece.
[539] And I don't know, maybe this is why I was sad because I'm like, I'm old as fuck because I want that one piece.
[540] So bad, and it's so much cuter than the two -piece blue thing.
[541] I agree.
[542] It was so cute.
[543] I was, like, Googling, trying to find this bathing suit.
[544] I found it.
[545] Obviously, I found it.
[546] How did you find it?
[547] It's on screen for 35 seconds.
[548] I know.
[549] It took, like, so many pictures of it.
[550] And I was Googling, and I was like, Anne Hathaway, one piece, the idea of you.
[551] Nothing was coming up, but then I texted Nicole, our Silas friend.
[552] And I sent her the picture and I was like, I want this.
[553] Do you know what brand it is?
[554] And she texted me this morning with the brand.
[555] Wow.
[556] That is some expert investigating.
[557] They don't have that style print combo, though.
[558] They have the print in a different style and the style and a different print.
[559] So I haven't taken action yet because I want the one she has.
[560] It doesn't exist.
[561] They probably made it for her.
[562] But anyhow, so I was like, fuck.
[563] And again, I don't know if this is able.
[564] or probably not age.
[565] This is just life.
[566] I was like, she's hotter.
[567] So much hotter.
[568] I don't want to compare hotness, but it was sort of weird that she was looking and feeling like less than, although ageism is a thing and I get it.
[569] I think this happens a lot when you get older.
[570] You look at younger people and you just immediately think they're hotter.
[571] But objectively no. Because she comes out in this like big shawl or something like jean shawl.
[572] Which was also kind of cute.
[573] It was cute.
[574] Again, she was more stylish and cooler.
[575] Oh my God.
[576] Her outfits in the whole movie, she's wearing like the real.
[577] She was so much cooler really than those young girls.
[578] And so it was kind of hard to get on board with her feeling bad.
[579] But you know what's so funny about that is they subtly do that the entire movie where, well, not to spoiler, but like, well, I know at this point.
[580] I mean, her ex -husband is older and like just comes off as like, less attractive.
[581] Like, he's an attractive actor.
[582] He's hot.
[583] But in the movie, like, they just dress him older.
[584] And then he cheats on her with this younger woman.
[585] Basically, I think they do it a little bit on purpose, where she is older, but hotter, like, more stylish.
[586] Like, she is defeating that sort of stereotype of what you would expect of that hierarchy.
[587] And that's kind of part of it.
[588] But I agree with you that then in those moments, you're like, dude, you look cooler than them, which is, again, probably true in many cases.
[589] Yeah.
[590] You just make those assumptions because of the way that we think as a society.
[591] And to be fair, what's cute and cool to me is maybe not cute and cool to like a young 24 year old guy.
[592] Sure.
[593] Like the row and this really cute one -piece bathing suit.
[594] That was so flattering.
[595] I agree.
[596] I mean, I didn't Google the bathing suit, but I agreed that she was so, I mean, she's stunning in the movie.
[597] Yeah, she's stunning.
[598] She's also my style icon.
[599] She is.
[600] She's been my style icon for the the last year and a half.
[601] Oh, recently.
[602] Not full, because obviously Mary Kate and Ashley are my style icons, but she is a style icon for me. She's had like a renaissance.
[603] She got a new stylist a couple years ago, Aaron Walsh, and she's been killing it ever since.
[604] Wow.
[605] Killing it.
[606] I mean, she kills it in this movie.
[607] The Met Gals today.
[608] It is.
[609] I know I wanted to ask you about it.
[610] What do you do?
[611] I don't have plans.
[612] I didn't plan it.
[613] I didn't plan a party.
[614] Should we watch it together?
[615] How do we watch it?
[616] I don't, I think like on the internet.
[617] I think it's just pictures.
[618] Oh, you don't watch it?
[619] I tried to watch it and it didn't really work out.
[620] And so I just looked at pictures.
[621] Wow.
[622] For someone who's so obsessed with the MetGala, I would think you're...
[623] I know, but I don't know how to watch it in a good way.
[624] Well, there's live streams, but then you have to listen to all the conversations.
[625] I don't know.
[626] I, like, hate watch it a little bit.
[627] Look, I think it's hard.
[628] Live shit is hard.
[629] I've never done it, so I can't sit on anyone who's doing it because I'm, There's a lot of moving parts that are happening on a red carpet, and I think it can get discombobulated quick.
[630] So, you know, God, now I'm excited, but I have a lot to do.
[631] I mean, what time does that start?
[632] I think on the early, I think it's at 5 Eastern or something like that.
[633] So for us.
[634] 5 .30 Eastern time.
[635] So it's 2 .30?
[636] The red carpet, yeah.
[637] Oh, God.
[638] Okay.
[639] Because the actual gala is not happening.
[640] Or it's not a thing.
[641] Well, what do you mean?
[642] There's no cameras inside.
[643] Oh, right.
[644] Exactly.
[645] Yeah.
[646] I did put a story out asking people for first date questions before our date.
[647] You did.
[648] And people gave great questions.
[649] Really good ones.
[650] We didn't really ask any, unfortunately, because it got loud.
[651] I think that's why.
[652] It was loud.
[653] Okay, it was a little too loud because I don't remember a lot.
[654] Me too.
[655] Okay, I was going to say, like, was it because I was nervous?
[656] I couldn't hear a lot.
[657] I couldn't hear a lot, too.
[658] I know.
[659] Because I was like, have fun on your dad's trip.
[660] It's like, maybe that's not happening.
[661] Like, maybe I...
[662] Yeah, a few people said, like, ask me questions about them.
[663] And I was like, I know we talked about that, but I don't know the answer because it was loud.
[664] It was loud.
[665] All right.
[666] The acoustics were not ideal.
[667] Okay, but I do want to read a few of the first -day questions that people said.
[668] Well, Kristen sent one.
[669] She said Crafter Velvita, which I thought was funny.
[670] Okay, this is from nobody's...
[671] listening right, my favorite podcast, I really do like this one.
[672] If you could go on a two -week vacation anywhere, unlimited budget, where are you going?
[673] I love that.
[674] What would you pick?
[675] I would go to Tokyo.
[676] I've always wanted to go, and it's so far and so expensive, but I think I would go to Tokyo.
[677] Or like a super, like, full, luxurious resort beach kind of thing.
[678] Like, I think those would be the two.
[679] What about you?
[680] I want to go to an Amman.
[681] Yeah.
[682] Yeah.
[683] I've never been to one.
[684] I don't know which one.
[685] But yeah, somewhere like remote and cool.
[686] Or Paris.
[687] Oh, fun.
[688] I love Paris.
[689] I also love London.
[690] And I love New York.
[691] Oh, like at all expensive trip in New York could also be really so fun.
[692] Okay, let's see.
[693] Oh, my God.
[694] I didn't see this.
[695] What?
[696] Eric, what is wrong with him?
[697] Oh, my God.
[698] He wrote various questions.
[699] on the theme of poop eating If you had to eat someone's poop on the show friends Who shit would you eat?
[700] Also definitely ask if they had to Would they?
[701] Oh, oh.
[702] This is like within the pod This like horrific question That we have all discussed And it's disgusting It's awful I can hardly I don't even know If I should even bring it up What is it?
[703] It's if you had to And not in a trauma way We have to separate this out Okay.
[704] Would you either suck your dad's?
[705] Oh, my God.
[706] Or eat your moms.
[707] Oh.
[708] Yeah.
[709] This is a conversation that, unfortunately, we've had many times in the group.
[710] Where do you fall?
[711] It's horrific.
[712] I mean, it's all so bad.
[713] But, like, but mom.
[714] 100%.
[715] Yeah.
[716] Because it's not sexual.
[717] Right.
[718] And mostly it breaks down this way, right?
[719] Where the genders kind of break down like that.
[720] Oh, interesting.
[721] Yeah, like the guys end up picking their dads.
[722] Because same thing.
[723] Like, even though nothing sexual about...
[724] Oh, the guys have to go down on the mom.
[725] Right.
[726] Oh, okay, I see.
[727] Exactly.
[728] Okay, got it.
[729] I thought the guys wanted to...
[730] Okay, I was like, wow.
[731] No, they do what we just did.
[732] Like, reluctantly pick their same gender.
[733] Right.
[734] And then what's the poop eating?
[735] Oh, just various, just talking about eating poop.
[736] Well, no, he's saying, what if I had asked that?
[737] I mean, that would have just been like a hard pivot.
[738] It's funny.
[739] It is funny.
[740] Okay, no, the poop eating is if you had to eat someone's poop on the show, friends who shit would you eat.
[741] It's kind of a good question.
[742] That's a really good question.
[743] Maybe Monica's because it would be the most, like, clean.
[744] But she's a chef.
[745] She is a chef.
[746] So she has to try a lot of food.
[747] After she eats the macklet.
[748] But then, like, probably Jennifer Ant.
[749] Yeah, I know.
[750] It's so annoying that we're all just picking Rachel because she's so perfect.
[751] But I bet hers is like too vegetarian.
[752] Yeah.
[753] It'll be like soft and...
[754] Yeah.
[755] Ew!
[756] I might pick Ross.
[757] Wow.
[758] I like that.
[759] Well, because, you know, as I get older, he's the hottest one to me. Interesting.
[760] He's become hot.
[761] He's always been hot.
[762] No, Ross as like a general when you're young, no one liked Ross.
[763] I was like a whole thing.
[764] And again, the irony that really he's the most put together, I mean, he's a dork, but dorks are cool.
[765] Dorks are cool.
[766] He's older.
[767] Yeah, he has his own apartment.
[768] Yeah.
[769] He has a good job.
[770] And he's tall and smart and hot.
[771] I mean, they're all hot.
[772] That was the thing, too, of like, Chandler being, like, not hot and, like, being a loser.
[773] you're like, Chandler was so funny and adorable.
[774] Yeah, exactly.
[775] I would have totally dated Chandler.
[776] Yeah.
[777] I wouldn't have dated, I wouldn't have dated Joey.
[778] Me neither.
[779] Yeah.
[780] Me neither.
[781] I don't feel safe.
[782] I'm Joey.
[783] I would have been best friends with him.
[784] Yeah, of course.
[785] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[786] Let's see if there's any.
[787] Oh, I liked this one.
[788] Last Cry.
[789] That's a really good one.
[790] We asked that one on, um, man enough.
[791] Oh, you do?
[792] We do, and it's just a good.
[793] It's, these questions, what I like about it is that they're not related to your job or like what you do, you know.
[794] Exactly.
[795] They're not boring.
[796] You're getting to know a person.
[797] Yeah.
[798] Okay.
[799] Oh, have you ever wondered if this is all just a simulation?
[800] That's a good one.
[801] That would have been a good one as well.
[802] Yeah, people, we got a lot of great first -day questions.
[803] Yeah, there was a popular post.
[804] Well, people have, you know, people have insight to help us.
[805] They're here to help us.
[806] Yeah.
[807] And I appreciate that.
[808] Thank you.
[809] Okay, my friend Ashley texted and she said, what stresses you out or what ruffles you.
[810] That gets into the territory that I'm into, which is what your trauma, which I try not to do.
[811] Exactly anymore.
[812] I know.
[813] But it is a good way to like...
[814] Stresses you out can be less than our traumas.
[815] It could be like when people take too long in line or, you know...
[816] Or like when people are on the sidewalk.
[817] That's my current...
[818] What?
[819] They're on the side.
[820] Oh my God, during my runs right now.
[821] You're going on runs?
[822] Yeah.
[823] I'm back on my wogs.
[824] Wow.
[825] My wogs are a mix of walking and running.
[826] Like, I run a couple laps and then I walk a long lap and I run a couple laps.
[827] I love it.
[828] Anyway, there is a group of dogs and people who take up a big, huge chunk corner of the sidewalk, and it is literally infuriating.
[829] And they don't move.
[830] No. And I get rage in a very specific way about it.
[831] So that's what I would say.
[832] And it's not my trauma so much, but it is a pet peeve ruffles stress.
[833] Do you feel as infuriated if you're just walking?
[834] Because I get that way, if they're coming in opposite direction.
[835] You're taking up the whole sidewalk and you don't move.
[836] I get infuriated.
[837] Infuriated.
[838] Yes, I have, this is like years -long beef with the world.
[839] I don't understand why people don't understand etiquette at all.
[840] Sidewalk etiquette.
[841] Just take up your space.
[842] Like, not noticing that someone else is here in this world with you.
[843] I can't.
[844] That's how I feel about, I was on, uh, hiking on Runyon.
[845] Did we say on?
[846] In?
[847] On, that's interesting, yeah.
[848] I was on the Runyon.
[849] At the Runyon.
[850] At Runyon.
[851] At Runyon.
[852] God, everything else.
[853] Sounds weird.
[854] We were going downhill.
[855] We were not even on the path anymore.
[856] We were talking.
[857] And I see this motorcycle going down.
[858] On.
[859] At Runyon.
[860] And I almost lost my mind.
[861] A hiking trail.
[862] And I've gone into, I've told you these stories probably, where on bike paths in New York when I came back from COVID, all of a sudden there were just like motorcycles on the Williamsburg Bridge, fully going like, and I got into a lot of scary, yes, because it's like a physically, I get so angry.
[863] And then once like this guy turned around, like I yelled at him and then he like turned around and started, he was like, you were going to get punched in the face.
[864] And then we got into this whole thing and I was like, I'm going to die.
[865] Like this is how to die.
[866] Oh.
[867] But it makes me very, very upset.
[868] Any kind of bike -related crimes or, like, not respecting the norms, the rules of the road.
[869] And, like, just social norms of, like, this is so much.
[870] Was this when I was listening to one of your episodes?
[871] I feel like I was listening to you guys talk about how, like, so much of society is not actually based on laws.
[872] It's all unofficial and we're all doing it.
[873] And, yeah, it's relying on our own individual desire.
[874] to work with each other and be in community and cooperate.
[875] And so when people don't do it, it makes me. Same.
[876] Support for Sync comes from Rocket Money.
[877] 75 % of people out there, you guys, have subscriptions you've forgotten about.
[878] You're not unique.
[879] You're probably in the 75%.
[880] Yes, that's right.
[881] You think you're in the 25%, but you're probably in the 75.
[882] I definitely am.
[883] I forget all the time about it.
[884] I keep adding subscriptions.
[885] I mean, when I was wanting to.
[886] to watch the Academy Awards.
[887] I bought, like, so many subscriptions because I couldn't watch it, and then it was the wrong weekend.
[888] Right.
[889] And you have to remember to cancel them, and you're not going to remember.

[922] Okay, so what would you do?
[923] I've asked a few people this.
[924] What would you do in my situation about the big dog man group?
[925] If you're coming in the direction and they're seeing your face, I literally go like this.
[926] I'm like, I'm just your gesture.
[927] with your hand to move.
[928] Yeah.
[929] I've done it a lot on the bike when people are in, you know, and I'll just literally like do it.
[930] You could run with a little whistle in your mouth and just whistle on people.
[931] God.
[932] That was like Aaron.
[933] Aaron said to get like a blow, like one of those like, yeah, blowhorn.
[934] It's like, I mean, it shouldn't take this.
[935] Exactly.
[936] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[937] I just say, excuse me, but they're not moving.
[938] They don't.
[939] No, they like.
[940] like kind of look at me every now and they're like take a little step out barely but not enough and then I'm just trying to maneuver in and out of it.
[941] It's so annoying.
[942] I'm going to say something controversial.
[943] I don't run as much now but I've been a runner for most of my life.
[944] I think runners have to adapt to people who are walking not the other way around.
[945] I know.
[946] I'm sorry.
[947] But not walking.
[948] If you're walking, no. If you're both walking, you're on equal footing.
[949] No, no, no, no. They're not walking.
[950] They're running.
[951] They're standing.
[952] They're just standing there for an hour.
[953] They've decided that that's their hangout spot is the sidewalk.
[954] They're not walking together in a group.
[955] They're planted there for the hour.
[956] Literally, I bet they say, like, from six to seven, let's hang out on the corner.
[957] That's what it is.
[958] No, you're in the way.
[959] Exactly.
[960] Okay, no. Illegal.
[961] Yeah.
[962] And I agree about, well, I'm half agree with you about the walking and the running.
[963] I still think, like, why are you walking in the middle?
[964] Walk on the side so other people can go.
[965] I don't understand the idea that you can take up the entire sidewalk.
[966] When people are walking on the sidewalk, they shouldn't walk in the middle of the sidewalk?
[967] I don't think so.
[968] I think you should walk on the right or left side.
[969] Whatever side you're on, you shouldn't just be like strolling about with no awareness.
[970] Just like we do cars, you walk on the right side of the sidewalk.
[971] But are there lanes on the sidewalk?
[972] I didn't know that there were lanes.
[973] Well, again, like you just said, there's lanes unofficially.
[974] And when people are walking opposite directions, you should create lanes.
[975] Yes, if they see you coming, but if they're behind you, how are they?
[976] That's why in general, I think you just take up a lane.
[977] Exactly, because you don't know who's behind you.
[978] Right.
[979] It's just a way to be conscientious in the world.
[980] Yeah.
[981] So don't walk in the middle of the sidewalk.
[982] Do you not walk in the middle of the sidewalk?
[983] I stay to a side normally.
[984] Oh my God, I didn't know this was a thing.
[985] I'm probably ruining everyone's doing what I hate.
[986] But I walk really fast, so no one's ever passing me. But anyway, stick to a side if you can.
[987] There are always scenarios, of course.
[988] You don't have to beat yourself up, but it's a way.
[989] a good way to be.
[990] And don't just have a party in the middle of the sidewalk.
[991] And if you are going to go ahead, but you have to move when people are coming, you don't own the sidewalk.
[992] No. I just, I can't.
[993] Okay.
[994] All right.
[995] Let's do some questions.
[996] Ooh, okay, this is timely.
[997] Okay, great.
[998] Feeling the pressure of tweakments at 30.
[999] This is from re.
[1000] I hope I pronounce it right.
[1001] Hi, Liz and Monica, love synced and you're wonderful and honest conversations.
[1002] Thank you for the work you do.
[1003] I'm turning 30 this summer.
[1004] I'm mostly excited to enter this new chapter in my life.
[1005] However, I've started to notice some early signs of aging on my face.
[1006] I love wrinkles and I think they're beautiful, but I've started to notice that I'm developing a double chin and I'm really struggling with it.
[1007] I've known I'm probably predisposed genetically to a double chin since my mom's side has it and it gets worse as they age, despite weight being quite consistent.
[1008] I started going down a massive rabbit hole of plastic surgery procedures to tweak mints with Botoxin fillers.
[1009] It's all made me quite anxious.
[1010] I really don't love the idea of going under the knife, and I'm scared of ending up pursuing a face style that so many women seem to have on social media.
[1011] I love my face, but I also feel like I don't look like myself with my double chin.
[1012] This has made me realize the pressures and standards women face as they age.
[1013] I think part of it is also knowing how my mom is age and knowing I want to do something to combat, losing my jawline in such a noticeable way.
[1014] Did you guys ever deal with this pressure as you hit 30?
[1015] Do you deal with it now?
[1016] Do you have any tips on how to deal with the pressure?
[1017] Be proactive about problem areas.
[1018] There's a side of me that wants to age naturally, but I also know that I want to keep the integrity of my face and my looks.
[1019] I know a lot of people get treatment or work done to age more gracefully and naturally, and it shouldn't feel like a huge stigma.
[1020] Still, I also feel like it's a thin line to tread to aging gracefully and looking like a completely different version of yourself.
[1021] Also, when someone ages beautifully and has work done, it's impossible to know because women feels so much shame in telling people, I wish it could all be more transparent.
[1022] P .S. Monica, your skin looks absolutely stunning in your recent New York trip picks.
[1023] I hope you drop a Vogue skincare routine one day.
[1024] I also hope I drop a Vogue skincare routine, and I appreciate that comment.
[1025] I'm in not a great skincare place, so I feel very happy about that comment.
[1026] And I will say that I'm using Kevin Aquan makeup currently, and it's nice.
[1027] Love it.
[1028] Yeah, so that's the answer to that.
[1029] Thank you.
[1030] Well, and I'm on a new regimen, TBD on, if I like it.
[1031] Of skincare regimen.
[1032] Yeah, it's new, and I'm trying it.
[1033] Anywho, okay, I feel like I wrote this question.
[1034] question.
[1035] This is 100 % me. You know, I almost got Kybella.
[1036] If anyone's listening to Armature Expert also, everyone knows I almost got Kaibela.
[1037] I didn't get it.
[1038] But now I might get chin filler.
[1039] And I feel all of this.
[1040] I don't want to really, but I do want to.
[1041] And I agree.
[1042] I want to just like keep my face, my face.
[1043] It's complicated.
[1044] What do you think?
[1045] I think you can do whatever you want.
[1046] Of course you can do whatever you want.
[1047] Yeah.
[1048] But it's like maintaining the balance of you, because I'm with her.
[1049] Like, I know what she means.
[1050] There's a style of face that a lot of women get.
[1051] And great.
[1052] Like, there's no judgment on those people.
[1053] I think awesome.
[1054] Everyone do what you want to do.
[1055] But I don't want that.
[1056] Yeah.
[1057] And I do think it's a slippery slope.
[1058] Like anything.
[1059] The best advice I got, so when I was turning 30, I was 31 or 32.
[1060] And my makeup artist was like, yeah, I brought up for me was like my frown line.
[1061] Is that what that's called?
[1062] Like this?
[1063] In your unibrow, but without a, like there's a crease.
[1064] Yeah, there was just like a significant crease.
[1065] And because, again, I was just seeing myself on camera a lot.
[1066] I was like, oh, I like, I'm seeing that a lot and I don't like it.
[1067] And she was like, yeah, you can get Botox.
[1068] She was like, get Botox.
[1069] Don't get filler.
[1070] Which was her advice, which I like to just transmit.
[1071] It's a subjective perspective.
[1072] But I do think Botox is not a big deal.
[1073] And again, I'm not like an expert in any way, but fiddlers are just more noticeable.
[1074] More can go wrong.
[1075] I'm sure there are, and there are many risks to all of these things, but a bad Botox story, like, you don't really hear a bad filler story, there are many.
[1076] I mean, and there are many good ones.
[1077] Oh, sure, sure, no, but I mean bad Botox, you can have too much.
[1078] Then you just can't move your face at all, and that looks weird.
[1079] It looks weird, and the first time I got it, I was like, I want the least amount, and you communicate that, and you go to someone that you feel also reflects that and understands that and usually they are like they know what they're doing and especially for me she was like I want you to still be able to like express you need you're expressing yourself on camera and something like that and so I went to someone who literally like I knew was doing kind of the genre that I was looking for yes like do your research on the people yes and start small and you can just stop doing it with Botox but you can also dissolve filler that's why I'm scared of Kybella because you can't dissolve it it's just like it is what it is and if it goes wrong, it goes wrong.
[1080] But with the filler, at this point, you can dissolve.
[1081] So that's something to also keep in mind if you try something and you're like, oh, fuck, you can dissolve it.
[1082] Yeah.
[1083] And I think that can be a little painful, but it's like worth it.
[1084] Sure.
[1085] I think you're going into it with all of the right thoughts.
[1086] And I think the judgment part, to me, though, is like, we, yeah, who cares?
[1087] We had that conversation about everything.
[1088] Remember when it was like, can you be a feminist if we wear a lipstick, if you wear makeup, right?
[1089] And so modern.
[1090] You know, technologies when it comes to what you can do have progressed.
[1091] And so I think we still need to be careful about shaming women who care about their appearance in a society that literally values our appearance and rewards us or punishes us if we don't.
[1092] And again, it's not to say that you have to do it and that you should keep up with those standards.
[1093] But I think it's so weird to then punish women for like participating in it.
[1094] And I think the best way to do it is in the way that's balanced where you're like, am I doing this for myself?
[1095] Why am I doing this?
[1096] How far am I willing to go?
[1097] I'm not going to put myself into debt to do this.
[1098] And I think about this part, too, where we were talking about it the other day.
[1099] And I was like, there's this other thing.
[1100] I was like, oh, I could do this.
[1101] And you were like, this part of your body is so great.
[1102] Like you don't have to.
[1103] And that's when I realized, oh, this is where maybe it's a slippery slope.
[1104] And I need to stop because I don't really need to do anything to that part.
[1105] And that's just enhancing, enhancing, enhancing.
[1106] And that's how you end up.
[1107] Not just going too far, I think, financially.
[1108] and in other ways, but also it looks worse.
[1109] Or it just doesn't look like you anymore at all.
[1110] And I think last thing is 30s is a good time to do it.
[1111] I think what's a little worrying is younger teenagers.
[1112] They don't even have their face yet.
[1113] Exactly.
[1114] There's a whole trend of like Gen Z look older than millennials.
[1115] And part of the hypothesis is that they're getting work done.
[1116] And yeah, work done still looks like work done.
[1117] It has a look.
[1118] It does.
[1119] Yeah.
[1120] And so if you're doing it too young, so that's where I would.
[1121] not draw a line, but I think that's where it gets, okay, this is not necessary and even kind of an intrusive thing.
[1122] And if you start that early, then that's where you get to a point where you're doing so much by the time that you're, you know.
[1123] Balance, I think that's right.
[1124] And I definitely understand looking in the mirror or seeing a picture or video, whatever, and just really not liking what you see.
[1125] And more than that, knowing, like what she said here, that doesn't look like me anymore.
[1126] Like, this is changing on me and I want it to just go back to what it was, not change something completely about myself.
[1127] So yeah, I think maybe I would start with Botox, if you're already looking into Botox.
[1128] That does seem to be like a good way to start.
[1129] And 95 % of my friends have Botox.
[1130] It's not a big deal.
[1131] Start small if you want to.
[1132] If you want to.
[1133] And your face will change.
[1134] That's a thing like, I don't remember which celebrity was talking about this, but she was like, your face does also change with age.
[1135] That's also normal, you know?
[1136] And beautiful.
[1137] Like, it'll evolve and look, like, I look different than I did in my 20s.
[1138] I'll look at photos and I'm like, wow, like there are definitely things that are different about my face, but, you know, we've to embrace that and that's fun.
[1139] That's the fun part too.
[1140] Yeah.
[1141] Okay.
[1142] Do you pee in pools?
[1143] This is from Beatrice.
[1144] I need to know, do you guys pee in pools?
[1145] Please discuss all types of pools.
[1146] Backyard public.
[1147] Gym, pool party, pools, etc. Please help me settle this debate with my friends.
[1148] both.
[1149] This is great.
[1150] It's so good.
[1151] I've done it, but I don't make a habit of it.
[1152] It's like some people every time they're in a pool, they pee.
[1153] Is that you?
[1154] I used to.
[1155] And then I became a lifeguard.
[1156] And then I learned more about, you know, what'd you learn?
[1157] So I lived in pool.
[1158] You know, I was synchronized swimming.
[1159] I was always in the water.
[1160] So I would do it.
[1161] And again, I think when you're young, I don't know.
[1162] You just do it.
[1163] But yeah, becoming a lifeguard, I just learn more about the chemical importance of like water cleaning, like just how important it is.
[1164] for the water to be clean and how things can be really transmitted in water.
[1165] Even when it's not pee, when it's just like sunscreen or a lot of people have been sweating, like you see the water.
[1166] We often had to close the pool in afternoons because the water would get so clouded with sweat and pee that you couldn't see the bottom because there's a test.
[1167] There's no chlorine in yours?
[1168] Fully chlorine, but the chlorine can't kill everything.
[1169] That's the thing.
[1170] And the more chlorine is killing things, the more cloudy again.
[1171] So that means the more things.
[1172] there are like and so there's a test there's a 12 foot section of the pool where people can dive and stuff like that and the test to know if you keep it open or not is that there's a big black drain at the bottom and if you don't see the drain you have to close that part and very often we have to close it because people would yeah so that's when I was like a little bit more aware aware but I'll pee in the ocean every time okay almost because I don't know where I'm going to find a bathroom again and like right so I actually I came to peeing in the pool later in life I never peed in the pool.
[1173] That was like not a thing I would have ever done.
[1174] And then, I guess I felt uptight.
[1175] I'm like, everyone pees in the pool, so I tried it.
[1176] So I've done it.
[1177] Did you like it?
[1178] I liked not having to go get out of the pool.
[1179] Yeah.
[1180] But I didn't enjoy like the sensation necessarily.
[1181] But I did like the convenience.
[1182] But I'm never doing it again after I heard that.
[1183] That's disgusting.
[1184] Ew.
[1185] It made me just realize like, and I don't want people to, well, maybe I shouldn't say.
[1186] it, but when there's a lot of kids in a pool, I just...
[1187] Ooh, it's like, don't get in the pool.
[1188] Like, I don't.
[1189] Like, I don't...
[1190] Fuck.
[1191] Or, like, I don't put my head in.
[1192] Well, I never put my head in.
[1193] You don't?
[1194] No, because I don't like swimming.
[1195] Right.
[1196] Well, then you're fine.
[1197] Because, like, whatever...
[1198] Or it's not a bigger...
[1199] They could get in my vagina.
[1200] Yeah, that's true.
[1201] I mean, no, things don't get in your vagina.
[1202] They're around it, but it doesn't go in.
[1203] Well, how do you know?
[1204] Because that's why we don't get our periods.
[1205] Like, it stops.
[1206] Like, there's nothing.
[1207] What do you mean we don't get our periods?
[1208] You know that your period stops when you're swimming, right?
[1209] What?
[1210] You did not know this?
[1211] What do you mean?
[1212] You're so cute.
[1213] What?
[1214] Don't act like everyone knows this.
[1215] Everyone knows this.
[1216] I bet Rob knows this.
[1217] Okay, I don't know what you're talking out.
[1218] No one.
[1219] Text any woman.
[1220] You know.
[1221] I'm going to call.
[1222] She knows it.
[1223] Who should I call?
[1224] I'm like, oh, how is it work?
[1225] Should I call Laura again?
[1226] She knows a lot of stuff, actually.
[1227] She I might be a good person.
[1228] Can we find out if it's true first?
[1229] It's 100.
[1230] I couldn't put it on a tampon and I had to go on synchronized swimming meets.
[1231] And I would just go with my period because I knew I won't have it into the water.
[1232] Ew, no. How you meet?
[1233] Damn it.
[1234] Yeah, it says it can be enough.
[1235] Water pressure of a leg or pool can be enough to prevent menstrual flow.
[1236] It doesn't go.
[1237] It stops.
[1238] No. Swear to God.
[1239] I can't believe you don't know this.
[1240] Hi.
[1241] Hi.
[1242] That was so weird.
[1243] It just went away.
[1244] Oh, no. You're on air again.
[1245] And I have a question because Liz thinks everyone knows this piece of information, and I want to know if you know it.
[1246] And you know a lot of stuff.
[1247] So do you know that if you're in a pool or like a lake, a water environment, that your period stops?
[1248] No. Thank you.
[1249] What?
[1250] Thank you.
[1251] But what do you mean?
[1252] It stops.
[1253] Exactly.
[1254] I guess the pressure makes it not flow out.
[1255] Oh, okay.
[1256] It doesn't stop your cycle, but it stops the flow?
[1257] You won't bleed in water.
[1258] You won't bleed in water, she says.
[1259] If you're submerged.
[1260] If you're submerged.
[1261] Oh, isn't that funny?
[1262] Because I feel like so many people are like, I can't show me if I'm going to attract sharks.
[1263] Right.
[1264] No. Well, again, one drop can attract a shark, and so people are worried about that.
[1265] But you're not going to get fully, like your flow stops.
[1266] Whoa.
[1267] When it happened to like a. open wound?
[1268] No, because that's on a flow, right?
[1269] I see.
[1270] I did not know that.
[1271] New information.
[1272] Okay.
[1273] Same.
[1274] This is great new information, but I appreciate that I, because Liz was like, everybody knows this.
[1275] And you know more than most people, so I feel pretty good about this.
[1276] Is it possible that it's regional information?
[1277] From Canada?
[1278] Should we ask a Canadian person?
[1279] No, he's on a panel, but...
[1280] Damn it.
[1281] I guarantee he has no. Exactly.
[1282] Well, he's a dude.
[1283] But he's also a man. Yes.
[1284] Okay.
[1285] This was fantastic.
[1286] I think we should call two more people and get a good...
[1287] Call someone who's from where Liz is from.
[1288] Yeah, a Canadian woman.
[1289] Oh, that's a good question.
[1290] Let's call Emma.
[1291] She's not Canadian, but we'll call her.
[1292] Oh, okay.
[1293] Say, thank you.
[1294] Bye.
[1295] Godspeed.
[1296] Bye.
[1297] Okay, I'm going to try her.
[1298] She's not a Canadian, but...
[1299] And we can't have it be a synchronized swimmer because that could be why you know it.
[1300] Because that kind of makes sense, like that you...
[1301] But I...
[1302] Hi!
[1303] What's up?
[1304] You're on air for synced.
[1305] Okay, great.
[1306] I'm walking my dog outside right now.
[1307] That's okay.
[1308] Okay.
[1309] It'll still work.
[1310] I have a question for you.
[1311] Oh, because you were a swimmer, right?
[1312] I was.
[1313] Okay.
[1314] Now, do you know this piece of information?
[1315] Liz thinks everyone knows it, and I didn't know it.
[1316] So I just want to know if you know it.
[1317] Do you know or not know that your period stops when you're...
[1318] submerged in water.
[1319] I do know that, yeah.
[1320] You do?
[1321] Yeah, like you can get away with, you should always, I guess, wear a tampon in the water, but like, it's not as dangerous.
[1322] Like, you're okay in the water.
[1323] What?
[1324] Okay.
[1325] So do you think you know that from swim team?
[1326] I think I probably do know that from swim team, yeah.
[1327] Because Liz was synchronized swimmer, so I think this is like if you're in the field.
[1328] Yeah.
[1329] I also remember when I was around 13 being like nervous.
[1330] about first periods.
[1331] And I think I remember the girls on the swim team being like, you don't have to worry about it here because you're wearing so little in a bathing suit.
[1332] Right.
[1333] Yeah, I think it might have been swim team lore.
[1334] That's where I learned.
[1335] Swim Team War.
[1336] Wow.
[1337] Okay, this makes tons of sense.
[1338] Okay.
[1339] Oh, I really appreciate you weighing in and helping clear this up.
[1340] Of course, any time, you guys.
[1341] Thanks.
[1342] Bye.
[1343] Okay, so it's not Canadian.
[1344] It's field specific.
[1345] Yeah, which makes sense.
[1346] If you're an expert in the field, you know that.
[1347] But most people aren't.
[1348] Got it.
[1349] Should we do one more of someone who just like swims but isn't in the field?
[1350] Callie was on swim team.
[1351] Okay.
[1352] So she might know it.
[1353] Kristen, I can ask Kristen.
[1354] Let me call her.
[1355] I bet she knows.
[1356] Your call has been forwarded to voicemail.
[1357] Oh, why?
[1358] It's off?
[1359] Oh, maybe she's on a call.
[1360] Yeah, they're on dial assist.
[1361] That's weird.
[1362] What's dial assist?
[1363] It says, do I listen?
[1364] Yeah.
[1365] I bet Dax would know.
[1366] Why?
[1367] Because he has daughters.
[1368] I don't know.
[1369] We're going to try Molly.
[1370] She has a pool.
[1371] She does.
[1372] But she's not a swimmer, and she's Ecuadorian.
[1373] Why are my friends answering?
[1374] I could be dead.
[1375] Damn it.
[1376] We could call Hannah.
[1377] Okay.
[1378] Do you think she is a pool?
[1379] She's not a swimmer.
[1380] She's not a swimmer.
[1381] She just do a game with, like, whoever our friends answers our calls.
[1382] We should call Amy.
[1383] Amy.
[1384] She has a lot of cool time.
[1385] Your call has been forwarded to voicemail.
[1386] Oh, my God.
[1387] The person you're trying.
[1388] Okay, I'm calling her.
[1389] Hi, Lily.
[1390] Hi, buddy.
[1391] You're on air for sync.
[1392] Oh, hi.
[1393] We're settling something here.
[1394] Okay.
[1395] So Liz thinks that everyone knows this piece of information, and I didn't know it.
[1396] and so I want to see if you know it.
[1397] Okay.
[1398] Do you know or not know that your period stops in the pool?
[1399] I have been told that and I've always believed it.
[1400] Okay, someone told you that.
[1401] And what age did someone tell you that?
[1402] Ooh, good question.
[1403] Like you've known it for a long time?
[1404] Yeah, as long as I can remember that when you get in water, it kind of is like a barrier and it won't leak out.
[1405] And then I think some people said that's not true, but it's always worked in my case.
[1406] Okay.
[1407] Hey, wow.
[1408] Wow.
[1409] We have two out of three people we've called who do know.
[1410] But you spend a lot of time in the pool.
[1411] Yes.
[1412] Did you spend a lot of time in the pool as a kid?
[1413] Oh, yeah.
[1414] But I think I would still wear a tampon when I would go in the pool because I was nervous.
[1415] Right.
[1416] But there's been plenty of times that I did it because I was like, I've been told.
[1417] But as soon as you get out, it could flow.
[1418] Right.
[1419] You got to go.
[1420] depending on your flow.
[1421] Okay, that's smart.
[1422] That's an important piece of information here.
[1423] Yeah, you've got to go.
[1424] Yeah, so it kind of depends on like where you're at.
[1425] Okay.
[1426] Wow.
[1427] This was helpful.
[1428] Okay, good.
[1429] This is part of a big study.
[1430] A big sink study.
[1431] Exactly.
[1432] Thank you for weighing in.
[1433] Thank you.
[1434] Of course.
[1435] Love you.
[1436] Okay, wow.
[1437] All right.
[1438] Well, I mean, we have to now do a poll.
[1439] One more.
[1440] Oh, a pole.
[1441] on social.
[1442] 100%.
[1443] So we find out the truth.
[1444] Okay.
[1445] Love that.
[1446] Did we...
[1447] I mean, we definitely...
[1448] Okay, when you would, which pools would you pee in?
[1449] The bigger the pool, the less the connection to whoever owns the pool, the more I'll pee in it.
[1450] Okay, so probably not pool party pool.
[1451] Pool party pool is risky.
[1452] Yeah.
[1453] Because are you worried people will feel the heat?
[1454] Feel the heat.
[1455] It's a little disrespectful.
[1456] Yeah.
[1457] I'm in it now, too.
[1458] Because there's something about a public pool where you feel like you can swim away from it, which you don't.
[1459] But if you're in a smaller pool with like, it's like now we're all in my, like.
[1460] Right.
[1461] And some people might get off of that.
[1462] Get off on it?
[1463] Yeah.
[1464] What do you mean?
[1465] Like everyone's in my pee and they don't know.
[1466] Oh.
[1467] Yeah, I bet.
[1468] I bet someone out there.
[1469] I wonder.
[1470] Many people.
[1471] Do I like that?
[1472] Do you like that?
[1473] You know something that other people don't know?
[1474] I can see myself kind of liking it.
[1475] But I also think my embarrassment, outweighs that.
[1476] So I wouldn't like it because I'd be too scared that people would know and then I'd be embarrassed.
[1477] It would stop that.
[1478] Got it.
[1479] But there's a little piece of me that might like it.
[1480] Wow.
[1481] But I don't know.
[1482] I've never experienced that.
[1483] Yeah.
[1484] Now I'm never, ever being in a pool after what you told me. I don't even want to get in a pool.
[1485] I know.
[1486] Being a lifeguard makes you, I don't want to ruin it for everybody.
[1487] And maybe technologies are better now, but it's not a full proof.
[1488] And I've seen it all.
[1489] We've closed the pool full.
[1490] for many bodily fluids in a pool, all of them that you can imagine.
[1491] And we had to clean them up.
[1492] No. Yes.
[1493] My first year working at a kiddie pool, I was 16, and I showed up at the park at 8 a .m. And there was a human turd in the middle of the pool.
[1494] And then I was like, what do I do?
[1495] And who do I call?
[1496] And they're like, no, it's you.
[1497] You have to do it.
[1498] I don't, I think, I don't even, wow, I blacked it out.
[1499] I don't remember what I did.
[1500] Did you swim up and grab it?
[1501] Oh, it was before, you have to show up and you're the one who's filling up the pool.
[1502] So I couldn't fill up the pool because there was hurt.
[1503] Oh, you're filling it up.
[1504] Holy shit.
[1505] That's a lot of things to do.
[1506] Yes.
[1507] And then you put on a whole hazmat suit and you're dropping the chlorine yourself in it.
[1508] It's crazy.
[1509] Oh, my.
[1510] The whole system is.
[1511] I don't know if that's Canadian or not because I don't, I've never heard this.
[1512] Maybe again, the system is better now, but 15 years ago, it was handheld.
[1513] chlorine in a kiddie pool, not in the main pool.
[1514] So you just, like, jumped into this, like, empty basin and there was poop there.
[1515] Yeah.
[1516] Oh, I saw it.
[1517] I started seeing it from a far away.
[1518] You notice it.
[1519] Oh, my God.
[1520] It was gross.
[1521] And then, like, once this boy threw up and you could see the hot dogs.
[1522] I still remember.
[1523] I still.
[1524] Liz.
[1525] Why did you say that?
[1526] I'm sorry.
[1527] I'm done.
[1528] This is a horrible way to end.
[1529] Oh, my God.
[1530] Now, okay, I can't get it out of.
[1531] I'm sorry.
[1532] I'm sorry.
[1533] Think of the idea of you.
[1534] Think of a...
[1535] Oh, no, you didn't like it to make you feel good.
[1536] What makes you feel good?
[1537] Eating Ross's shit.
[1538] Eating Ross's shit.
[1539] Okay, that's better.
[1540] Maybe I'll think of it as Ross's...
[1541] It was Ross's turd.
[1542] Hot dogs.
[1543] Yeah, hot dogs.
[1544] Ew!
[1545] Okay, okay.
[1546] Enough.
[1547] That's it for today.
[1548] We've gone off the rails.
[1549] Oh, wait.
[1550] Kelly just texted me. Weird.
[1551] Weird.
[1552] What did you say?
[1553] She just texted me. What do you say?
[1554] new skin care routine.
[1555] Sim.
[1556] Well, it's all connected.
[1557] All right.
[1558] Well, love you.
[1559] Don't pee in pools.
[1560] Or do it, but don't swim in it.
[1561] Just know what you're getting yourself into.
[1562] And we'll see you next week.
[1563] Yeah, bye.
