Morning Wire XX
[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.
[1] It's Monday, September 25th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] By a vote of 61 to 0, the motion passes.
[3] The resolution is adopted.
[4] The Texas Republican Party is officially asking for legislation to be added to a special session that would prevent further settlement of illegal aliens in Colony Ridge and other similar developments in the state.
[5] The party is also calling on Attorney General.
[6] Ken Paxton to initiate a full investigation into the Colony Ridge development and any connections it may have to elected officials in the region.
[7] Colony Ridge is a development near Plum Grove, Texas that's estimated to have somewhere between 50 to 75 ,000 inhabitants and span over 60 square miles.
[8] A large percentage of the residents are believed to be in the country illegally.
[9] There's known cartel activity in the area.
[10] There's rampant crime.
[11] You probably heard pretty recently about someone who shot five people from their lawn in the area.
[12] Law enforcement presence is minimal, which is why they congregate there.
[13] And there's growing investigation into why the local officials there are allowing this to go on.
[14] Embattled U .S. Senator Bob Menendez addressed the press today after being indicted by the Department of Justice on Friday on bribery charges.
[15] The Democratic Senator was defiant and refused to resign amid calls to do so from members of his own party.
[16] On Friday, the Southern District of New York, more charges against me. I understand how deeply concerning this can be.
[17] However, the allegations leveled against me are just that.
[18] Allegations.
[19] As I have stated throughout this whole process, I firmly believe that when all the facts are presented, not only will I be exonerated, but I still will be the New Jersey's senior senator.
[20] The Hollywood Rider Strike could be finally coming to an end as the WGA came to a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television producers late last night.
[21] Here with more as Daily Wire Culture reporter, Megan Basham.
[22] So the WGA says the potential deal, and I'm quoting here, was made possible by the enduring solidarity of WGA members and the extraordinary support of our union siblings who joined us on the picket lines for over 146 days.
[23] Now, the union noted that no details of the proposed three -year contract would be released until it's approved by the WGA West Board and the WGA East Council, which could take place as early as tomorrow.
[24] The WGA called the deal exceptional with meaningful gains and protections for riders in every sector of the membership.
[25] And it's expected that the deal will be signed sometime this week.
[26] The WGA has been striking since May 2nd.
[27] A German family that came to America 15 years ago seeking asylum after being fined for homeschooling their children is now requesting that the Biden administration stop their pending deportation.
[28] Daily Wire Senior Editor Joel Needler has the story.
[29] Ova and Hannah Laura Rameka came to the U .S. in 2008 to homeschool their five children.
[30] At first they received a silee status in 2010 under President Obama, but a judge later revoked it in 2014, giving them indefinite deferred action status.
[31] Earlier this month, the two were told by the federal government that they must now go back to Germany, where homeschooling is outlawed.
[32] They also have two minor children who were born in the U .S. The couple and their attorney, Pete Bowden, joined Fox and friends to discuss the case.
[33] What I can say is the Ramica family has entered the country lawfully.
[34] They've been here lawfully for 15 years.
[35] They want to stay here lawfully, and there's a way to make that happen.
[36] So this is not a case other than a family following the rule of law, which is what we have in the United States, as you well know, and wanting to continue to follow the rule of law to stay here.
[37] And so the Biden administration can make that happen.
[38] the agencies can make it happen, and we're asking them to simply do just that.
[39] Over the weekend, the Washington National Cathedral officially revealed new stained glass windows to commemorate the fight for racial justice featuring African American protesters.
[40] The pair of windows replaced one's honoring Confederate General Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.
[41] At a service on Saturday, Supreme Court Justice Katanji Brown Jackson read a letter by Reverend Martin Luther King.
[42] The artist behind the windows, Carrie James Marshall, also spoke.
[43] to the congregation.
[44] I am deeply humbled, incredibly grateful for the opportunity, and hope that the themes that the windows propose continue to be a catalyst for the kind of transformation.
[45] The cathedral stands for, what the nation stands for, and what I hope we all, as members of this culture and society, will embody and stand for and bring forward.
[46] ourselves.
[47] The island of Jamaica is suffering a dengue fever outbreak after hundreds of individuals are believed to have been infected by the mosquito -borne virus.
[48] Officials said Sunday that there are no dengue -related deaths classified at this time, however, six deaths are being investigated.
[49] And the pharmaceutical chain right aid is in the process of negotiating a bankruptcy plan that would include the liquidation of many of its stores.
[50] According to the Wall Street Journal, the company has proposed closing somewhere between 400 ,000.
[51] and 500 stores, and then either sell or let creditors take over all remaining operations.
