[5] It's Wednesday, March 27th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[6] A recovery mission is underway in Baltimore.
[7] Divers entered the water today below the wreckage for the Francis Scott Key Bridge in search of six construction workers who are presumed dead.
[8] The six men were on the bridge filling potholes when a massive container ship crashed into one of the bridge's supports, causing the bridge to collapse.
[9] The ship lost power and issued a distress call moments before the crash, prompting officials to close off the bridge to traffic.
[10] National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Hammondee confirms her agency has recovered the ship's voyage data recorder after the investigators went to board the ship today.
[11] They hope the data and interviews with crew will yield some answers.
[12] We hope to begin to develop a timeline of events that led up to the striking of the bridge.
[13] It will provide us with a number of parameters, everything from location to positioning of the ship to speed, you name it.
[14] So we will pull that together to make sure we have a very accurate timeline of what occurred.
[15] Meanwhile, officials are working on a plan to rebuild.
[16] During today's White House press briefing, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said repairing the bridge won't be easy, quick, or cheap.
[17] We are committed to delivering every federal resource needed to help Maryland get back to normal, and we're going to work with them every step of the way to rebuild this bridge.
[18] It is not going to be simple.
[19] The Texas law, known as Senate Bill 4, has hit another snag.
[20] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the latest.
[21] Today, a federal appeals court extended its hold on the state law, which makes illegal immigration.
[22] a state -level crime and gives local law enforcement the ability to arrest illegal immigrants.
[23] The same court froze the law on March 19th, just hours after the Supreme Court allowed it to take effect.
[24] The court cited a 2012 Supreme Court ruling that invalidated a similar law in Arizona.
[25] Texas could now take this back to the Supreme Court and once again ask it to allow the law to go into effect.
[26] In the meantime, the appeals court will hold another hearing on April 3rd.
[27] Attorneys representing President Biden's son Hunter were back in court today.
[28] Attorneys for the younger Biden are seeking the dismissal of nine tax -related charges.
[29] The charges, which include six misdemeanors and three felonies, carry a penalty of up to 17 years in prison and include allegations of tax evasion and filing a false return.
[30] Abby Loll, an attorney representing the president's son, claimed in legal documents that the charges brought by special counsel David Weiss are the result of political pressure by Republicans.
[31] Prosecutors responded by framing those pleadings as conspiracy theories.
[32] Days after being hired at NBC, former RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has been let go.
[33] Daly Wire Culture reporter Megan Basham has more.
[34] NBC News chairman, Sazer Kande, made the announcement in a memo to employees after multiple on -air hosts at the network lashed out at the company during their broadcasts.
[35] We weren't asked our opinion of the hiring, but if we were, we would have strongly objected to it for several reasons.
[36] We hope NBC will reconsider its decision.
[37] In the memo, Conday said, quoting, no organization, particularly in newsroom, can succeed unless it is cohesive and aligned.
[38] Over the last few days, it has become clear that this appointment undermines that goal.
[39] The chairman then went on to say the decision was made because, quote, of our deep commitment to presenting our audiences with a widely diverse set of viewpoints.
[40] He added that he took full responsibility for McDaniel's hire.
[41] McDaniel is reportedly now exploring her legal options following her termination from the network.
[42] Many conservative voices like House Speaker Mike Johnson have come to McDaniel's defense.
[43] The speaker called NBC an absolute disgrace and he put news in quotes while referring to NBC News.

[50] Paul allegedly had cocaine and marijuana edibles on him, both of which are felonies in Florida.
[51] Brandon Paul was named in a complaint against Combs by Rodney Jones.
[52] The complaint said he allegedly handles combs drugs and guns.
[53] The NCAA wants legal sports betting states to ban prop bets on college athletes.
[54] NCAA president Charlie Baker took to social media and said that prop bets are threatening the integrity of competition leading to student athletes being harassed.
[55] Proposition bets are wagers made on statistics that a player may accumulate during the game.
[56] Baker's statements come just two days after the NBA opened an investigation into strange betting patterns surrounding props involving Toronto Raptors forward Jonte Porter.
[57] Here are some of Porter's teammates explaining why they take issue with this type of wager.
[58] People are always just like, you screwed up my parlay.
[59] That's what everyone's DMs after games is about.
[60] But, I mean, it is what it comes with the game.
[61] And someone in New Jersey will soon be over a billion dollars richer.
