[26] Greg, what are your thoughts on Doomsday?
[27] Wow.
[28] It should be terrifying.
[29] Pardon me. $5.
[30] I know.
[31] That's $15 now I owe.
[32] It should be terrifying because the doomsday clock supposedly shows us as close as we've ever been to the complete final annihilation of the human race.
[33] How do they calculate that?
[34] Is it like pro football focus or is it environmental and political?
[35] The only thing I know is that it's based on a clock.
[36] Where can you find the clock?
[37] You know, it's somewhere because it's Google.
[38] That's a great question.
[39] But wouldn't it every day it be the closest it's ever been?
[40] No. Yes.
[41] No, they've moved it back previously.
[42] Right.
[43] If all of a sudden there's peace on Earth and there's no war, you can look around the entire globe and there's no wars.
[44] I suspect it goes a little bit in.
[45] The direction of humanity.
[46] I'd like Doomsday to keep an appointment.
[47] You know what I mean?
[48] Like if this is the day, this is the day.
[49] Like I worked my schedule around Doomsday.
[50] Let's stick to a day and a time.
[51] Do we know the day and the time?
[52] Yeah.
[53] The premise of the Doomsday Clock is it says it's a design that warns the public about how close we are to destroying our world with dangerous technologies of our own making.
[54] So right now we're 90 seconds to midnight.
[55] Yeah, they just announced this and the people in charge of the Doomsday Clock is...
[56] a bunch of atomic scientists and i see here a photo ceremonially they have a clock that's 90 seconds to midnight and standing beside it is bill nye the science guy he can save us So Bill Nye is part of a collective that is moving us closer to Doomsday.
[57] So we should definitely take it seriously.
[58] And so when I mention that I should be more...
[59] I do take him more seriously than if it were Beekman.
[60] No, I take Beekman seriously.
[61] Really?
[62] You know what I mean?
[63] 90 Seconds of Midnight sounds like a band Jeremy would love.
[64] Yeah, I would love them.
[65] 30 Seconds to Mars, 90 Seconds of Midnight, you know, same thing.
[66] Yeah, same shit.
[67] But this is a children's television scientist.
[68] weighing in on the he's still a scientist no i i understand that but it's just to take the the doomsday clock seriously as many do right and i'm not taking apart his credentials i know he's a very credentialed scientist but also this feels very political because he's standing next to the uh he's standing next to the clock like bill nye is I mean, I know it's a collective, but he's there.
[69] He's among six people that represent the best and brightest of this atomic scientist collective.
[70] Who are they?
[71] Name them.
[72] Yeah, for real.
[73] No Oppenheimers there.
[74] Well, the modern day Oppenheimers.
[75] I don't know about that.
[76] Okay, well, I can't.
[77] I wasn't really prepared to pick.
[78] apart the the the collective of atomic scientists but i guess i was asking for it when i mentioned that bill nye the science guy was next to the clock or his atomic uh you know i mean for what it's credentials it was founded in 1945 by einstein and oppenheimer oh we'll get here oh wow so 45 geez right but we should be more worried about this as much right i and i and i gotta tell you it does feel at least to me it feels like it checks out Do you feel like those scientists are rooting for it to happen so they could be right?
[79] No. No, no. No one's rooting for the...
[80] Well, I mean, I'm sure there are some, but...
[81] Rooting for the end of the world?
[82] So they could die right.
[83] No. They're right.
[84] whether the world ends up ending now or not.
[85] Or because this is the warning.
[86] No, no, no, no, no. No, hold on a second.
[87] The world has to end for them to be right.
[88] Okay, so what are we supposed to do with this warning?
[89] They come out with this.
[90] We're supposed to stop the war in Ukraine.
[91] Put on shutters.
[92] I mean, what are you going to do?
[93] Climate emissions.
[94] Does anyone in China, the U .S., Russia, India, the Middle East decide, hey.
[95] You know, maybe we walk this back.
[96] Bill Nye said no one's ever listened to too aggressive.
[97] That's the thing.
[98] I don't think before.
[99] I don't think Putin's listening to Bill Nye, the science guy.
[100] He's got a point.
[101] Yeah.
[102] I don't think the clock is very helpful.
[103] I think we need a pie chart.
[104] Well, three quarters of it is missing.
[105] It's so confusing.
[106] It's also 90 seconds to midnight, which is all right.
[107] Seems like I have some leeway here.
[108] Wake me up in a minute.
[109] So it's 11 58 30.
[110] Is that what we're talking about?
[111] You'll wake me in a minute.
[112] Yeah.
[113] I feel like if I only have 90 seconds to live, I'm going to enjoy it.
[114] Yeah.
[115] What am I going to do?
[116] Exactly.
[117] So with 30 seconds left, that's when we really panic.
[118] Is that your point?
[119] I'd say when the countdown starts from 10, I think that's when we've got to figure it out.
[120] When the new year comes, no one starts counting at 90.
[121] How fluid is this?
[122] Daily, can they adjust it?
[123] If there's a missile strike in the Middle East, is Bill Nye the science guy going to move it forward 10 seconds?
[124] Here's when they adjust it.
[125] When they're bored and they want attention.
[126] That's when they adjust it.
[127] Where's Jared Leto?
[128] He'll save the day.
[129] Hey, Jeremy.
[130] Yes, Mike?
[131] Have you ever had a fireside conversation during a football Sunday during the winter?
[132] Sure.
[133] We don't have a lot of fireplaces down here, but I've had the premise of it.
[134] I wish I could, but it's South Florida.
[135] When it gets down to the 60s, we're like, we're bundled up, but certainly no fireplaces.
[136] Still too warm for that.
[137] But we do have our football Sundays.
[138] And one thing that always makes football Sundays good, and I know you've had plenty of experience in your life with this.
[139] Miller time.
[140] Oh, yeah.
[141] Miller Lite makes the winter better.
[142] It makes football Sundays better.
[143] It makes even hanging out around you better.
[144] Thanks, Mike.
[145] That was kind.
[146] I appreciate that.
