[1] It's Wednesday, May 31st, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Republican West Virginia Governor Jim Justice's coal businesses on Wednesday.
[3] The DOJ says the businesses possess millions in unpaid civil penalties.

[7] The DOJ said the amount of penalties, interest, and expenses owed is nearly $8 million.
[8] Governor Justice is the top challenger to incumbent Democrat Senator Joe Manchin.
[9] According to an East Carolina University poll released earlier this week, Justice leads Manchin by over 20 points in a head -to -head matchup.
[10] The National Republican Senatorial Committee, which backs GOP candidates for U .S. Senate, said of the DOJ's lawsuit, Joe Biden's Department of Justice has gone totally rogue.
[11] The NRSC added that weaponizing the federal government to attack the family of a Senate candidate is a complete abuse of power.
[12] A former staffer who accused President Biden of sexual assault back when he was a senator has defected to Russia.
[13] Tara Reid made the announcement during a Russian state press conference while she sat next to a Russian spy, Maria Butina, who was previously sentenced to prison in the U .S. for conspiring to act as an agent of Russia inside the U .S. [14] Reed has also said she will be requesting Russian citizenship.
[15] Thanks in part to the surge in artificial intelligence, which requires specific hardware and software, chipmaking corporation NVIDIA saw its market value rise above $1 trillion on Tuesday.
[16] Founded in 1993, originally with a focus on video games, NVIDIA joins just nine other companies to have reached that high water mark.
[17] Just five companies, Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft, and now NVIDIA are currently above $1 trillion.
[18] The National Eating Disorders Association disabled its AI chat bot, nicknamed Tessa, due to harmful advice it gave people who requested information about how to deal with their eating disorders as well as how to lose weight.
[19] Here with more is Daily Wire researcher Trevor Mock.
[20] The NEDA was set to cancel its long -running telephone hotline to help individuals with eating disorders on June 1st by shifting operations over to the artificial intelligence chatbot, Tessa.
[21] However, several reports indicate that Tessa failed to provide the nuanced support users needed and even gave advice that could inadvertently exacerbate existing eating disorders.
[22] For example, one user was given weight loss advice and told how to measure her body with calipers even after the chatbot was told she had an eating disorder.
[23] For its part, the NEDA said that it hadn't seen those sorts of responses to the 2 ,000 -plus individuals who've tried it.
[24] The association is now looking into options for how to fix the chat bot.

[32] So far, police have made no arrest.
