[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.

[1] It's Wednesday, May 3rd, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[2] One person is dead and at least three critically injured after a shooter opened fire in an Atlanta hospital shortly after noon today.

[3] According to police, the shooter entered Northside Hospital Medical Midtown wearing a gray hoodie and gloves and carrying a bag.

[4] It is believed that the suspect is a male and used a handgun at the hospital.

[5] Police are conducting a manhunt for the suspect who is still at large.

[6] No motives have been given thus far.

[7] Russia accused Ukraine of attempting to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin.

[8] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.

[9] Videos circulating on social media appear to show a drone exploding and smoke rising over the roof of the Kremlin.

[10] The Kremlin said in a statement that two drones were intercepted and shot down by Russian security forces and that the impacts didn't hurt any people or property.

[11] Putin was apparently away from the Kremlin at the time.

[12] A spokesman for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied Russia's allegations.

[13] However, right after news of the drone attack broke, Zelensky's chief of staff posted to his telegram channel a string of fire emojis.

[14] He deleted the post shortly after.

[15] The attack, if it was Ukraine, would be a significant escalation in Ukraine's attacks on Russian territory.

[16] New York has officially become the first state in the nation to ban natural gas and other fossil fuel hookups in most.

[17] new buildings.

[19] On Tuesday evening, the New York Senate and Assembly voted to approve the $229 billion state budget, which contain the provision.

[20] There are exceptions, such as some commercial and industrial buildings, including hospitals, laundromats, restaurants, and more.

[21] Governor Hokel called the move necessary, comparing the transition to the move away from coal as a primary energy source.

[22] There are clean energy alternatives.

[23] It's going to take time.

[24] So we're going to roll this out.

[25] But new buildings that are going up, they can find, they can go electric, they can do heat pumps.

[26] This is how you transition.

[27] Meanwhile, Republican State Senator Thomas O'Mara criticized the move, saying the electrical grid isn't equipped for the transition.

[28] New York State says that we're going to need to triple renewable energy in 17 years, adding 83 gigawatts of renewable.

[29] Just to give that some perspective, we've only produced 13 new gigawatt hours in the past 23 years in this state.

[30] American track and field star Tori Bowie, a three -time Olympic medalist and a two -time world champion in track and field, has died.

[31] She was 32 years old.

[32] No cause of death has been given.

[33] Authorities have now arrested the wife of the illegal immigrant accused of killing five people, including a nine -year -old last week in Cleveland, Texas.

[34] Police say the shooting suspect is a Mexican national illegally in the country after having been deported several times.

[37] Brazil's federal police searched the home of former president Jair Bolsonaro and seized his phone as part of an investigation into alleged counterfeit COVID -19 vaccine cards.

[38] According to a police statement, the investigation focused on whether cards held by Bolsonaro and his family members were altered in.

[39] in order to comply with U .S. vaccine mandates for travelers coming from outside of the country.

[40] The Federal Reserve announced Wednesday that it raised interest rates for the 10th time in a little more than 12 months.

[41] The quarter point hike brings the Fed's interest rate to between 5 and 5 .25%.
