Morning Wire XX
[0] I'm Daily Wire, editor -in -chief John Bickley, with Georgia Howe.
[1] It's Thursday, November 2nd, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] The Biden administration is seeking multiple humanitarian pauses in the Israel -Hamas war, aimed at getting aid into Gaza and getting hostages and foreign nationals out.
[3] During a briefing Thursday, reporters pressed White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby about what exactly a humanitarian pause means.
[4] We do believe that humanitarian positives could be of value.
[5] But there has to be credible support on both sides here for where to do it, when to do it, for how long to do it, and for what purpose.
[6] And we're continuing to work with partners in the region, including those who have a direct line of communication with Hamas to see if that's possible.
[7] The goal would be to get aid in, to maybe get people out that want to evacuate.
[8] Kirby said he was hopeful that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other powers involved would consider pauses on a case -by -case basis.
[9] This comes as President Biden announced the evacuation of 74 Americans out of Gaza.
[10] Cornell University has canceled all classes this Friday, citing extraordinary stress among the students following one student's arrest for allegedly making violent anti -Semitic threats online.
[11] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.
[12] In an email to students and staff, school officials said Friday will instead be a community day.
[13] The email said, quote, we hope that everyone will use this restorative time to take care of yourselves and reflect on how we can nurture the kind of caring, mutually supportive community that we all value.
[14] This comes after a student was arrested on charges of posting threats to kill or injure another using interstate communications.
[15] 21 -year -old Patrick Dye allegedly posted several extreme anti -Semitic posts online that threatened violence.
[16] The Cornell Jewish community remained shaken.
[17] The House of Representatives is said to be voting today on a $14 .3 billion bill to support Israel, specifically stating Israel and Ukraine must be funded through separate legislation.
[18] The bill would also reallocate money from the IRS budget.
[19] The White House and Senate Democrats, however, want a supplemental bill that will cover both countries.
[20] Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called the House's Israel funding bill a joke.
[21] Schumer said it wasn't a serious bill, and therefore would be ignored.
[22] Nearly two dozen Republicans joined with Democrats Wednesday night to kill a resolution that would have censured left -wing Representative Rashida Talib.
[23] The final vote was 226 to 186 in favor of killing the motion without debate.
[24] Representative Marjorie Taylor Green introduced the measure following Talib's comments and actions related to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
[25] Green blasted the 23 Republicans who voted to table her resolution.
[26] Republicans in Congress cannot ban together to ever hold anyone accountable, to ever do the right thing.
[27] And this is why conservatives across America are constantly furious, constantly disappointed, and constantly angry.
[28] And I don't blame them.
[29] Republican Representative George Santos avoided expulsion from the House chamber last night while his criminal trial and House Ethics Committee investigation.
[30] continue.
[31] Most Republicans and 31 Democrats opted to withhold punishment from the controversial congressman.
[32] The effort to remove Santos was led by his fellow New York Republicans.
[33] Here's Mike Lawler of New York.
[34] Making up events that didn't occur in an effort to bamboozle voters into believing that you are the right person to represent them is wrong.
[35] The final vote was 179 for expulsion and 213 against it.
[36] Santos told CBS the vote took time away from issues that matter.
[37] Do you feel vindicated in any way?
[38] It's not about feeling indicated.
[39] This is a distraction from the real issue that the country's going through.
[40] Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville is holding up numerous military nominations and promotions in an attempt to force the Pentagon to change its current abortion policy, prompting some pushback from his own party.
[41] Daily Wire Senior Editor Cabot Phillips has more.
[42] Over the course of four hours, as over 60 nominees for military promotion and other accolates were presented, Senator Tuberville said the same thing to each of them.
[43] I'm Jay.
[44] Defense Department officials have repeatedly said the number of personnel needing confirmation could endanger national security.
[45] But according to Molly Hemingway of the Federalist, more than 40 % of the nominees are allegedly beholden to diversity, equity, and inclusion ideals that many argue hurt the effectiveness of our military.
[46] Tuberville said Wednesday that there is, quote, zero chance he will drop the holds.
[47] I have to respectfully disagree with my colleagues about the effect of my hold on readiness.
[48] Legendary Hoosiers coach Bobby Knight, famous for his victories and infamous for his outbursts, has died at the age of 83.
[49] Knight won 902 games in the span of his 43 -year college basketball career.
[50] And the Texas Rangers won the World Series last night for the first time in the franchise's 63 season history.
[51] The Rangers grabbed the title after winning game five over the Phoenix Diamondbacks.
