[2] White House Special Climate Envoy John Kerry addressed attendees at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, praising the group for their efforts to combat climate change.
[3] The remarks drew ridicule from some critics, though, who called Kerry out of touch and elitist.

[7] Outside a federal courthouse in Philadelphia, a federal security guard shot a man multiple times on Tuesday after officials say he approached the building armed with a knife and wearing a vest with wires.
[8] The man was transported to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition.
[9] A motive has not been released.
[10] China's economy increased only 3 % last year, the worst amount seen in decades.
[11] Experts blame the country's strict COVID lockdowns and expect growth in the year ahead as those restrictions ease.
[12] According to official numbers released today, China's population shrank for the first time in decades this year.
[13] The decline, which many experts believe has actually been going on for several years, is linked to the One Child Policy, which was launched in 1980 and officially ended in 2016.

[17] Twitter began its long -anticipated online auction on Tuesday for more than 600 office items, including objects such as high -end espresso machines, boardroom tables, and Twitter paraphernalia such as neon signs and bird statues.
[18] Per the website hosting the auction, items were going for as high as $10 ,000.
[19] Bidding will close on Wednesday, January 18th.
[20] Republican Indiana Congressman Jim Banks announced on Tuesday that he would be running for Indiana Senate in 2024.
[21] The seat is currently held by GOP Senator Mike Braun, who has already announced he won't seek re -election at the end of his term.
[22] Actor Jeremy Renner is on the mend.
[23] The actor has left the hospital to recover at home after sustaining serious injuries from being run over by his seven -ton snowplow.
[24] The FEC has dismissed a case against Google, which claimed the tech company's Gmail function disproportionately sent GOP fundraising emails to spam instead of to user 's inboxes as compared to similar emails from Democrats.
[25] According to evidence presented in the case, 67 .7 % of emails from Republican candidates were marked as spam.
[26] That's compared to 8 .2 % for Democrats.
[27] Google claimed the discrepancy was not intentional, and the court agreed.
