[6] This is Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley with Georgia Howl.

[7] It's Tuesday, February 21st, and this is your morning wire, afternoon update.

[8] Russia announced Tuesday that it will be suspending the only remaining nuclear treaty with the United States, known as the New START Treaty, allowing the country to begin revamping its nuclear arsenal.

[9] China's Xi Jinping also announced that he will travel to Moscow for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin as the two nations potentially align against Ukraine and the West.

[10] President Biden, for his part, spoke in Poland on Tuesday.

[11] All democracies are being tested.

[12] and the questions we faced were as simple as they were profound.

[13] Would we respond or would we look the other way?

[14] Would we be strong?

[15] Would we be weak?

[16] Would we, all of our allies, would be united or divided?

[17] One year later, we know the answer.

[18] The Environmental Protection Agency announced enforcement action against Norfolk Southern on Tuesday, requiring the company to pay for cleanup actions following a, February 3rd, train derailment that exposed a small Ohio town and surrounding areas to toxic chemicals.

[19] The EPA says if the company fails to complete any part of the ordered action, the agency will conduct the necessary work and then seek to compel the company to pay triple the cost.

[20] The rail company already faces multiple class action suits from members of the East Palestine community.

[21] As Governor DeWine and I discussed last night, we are going to get through this as a team.

[22] And at the same time, we are absolutely.

[23] going to hold Norfolk Southern accountable, and I can promise you that.

[24] From the very beginning, EPA personnel have been on -site, supporting local and state partners as they've led emergency response efforts.

[25] We've had boots on the ground.

[26] Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg announced that he is planning to visit East Palestine, Ohio, more than 18 days after the Norfolk Southern train derailed.

[27] The visit comes after former President Trump announced that he will be visiting the Midwest town on Wednesday.

[28] Here's Buttigieg on ABC's Good Morning America.

[29] Well, I am planning to go and our folks were on the ground from the first hours.

[30] I do want to stress that the NTSB needs to be able to do its work independently.

[31] But when I go, the focus is going to be on action.

[32] Look, I was mayor of my hometown for eight years.

[33] We dealt with a lot of disasters, natural and human.

[34] One person was killed and more than a dozen were injured on Monday after an explosion at a manufacturing plant in Ohio caused fires.

[35] Law enforcement officials say the explosion happened at the I -Schuman and Company plant, which manufactures brass and bronze alloy in Oakwood, Ohio.

[36] Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control by Monday afternoon.

[37] Fire officials say debris from the explosion damaged several vehicles at a parking lot across the street.

[38] One factory worker recounted the day as the usual before the explosion happened.

[39] The next thing I know, boom, everything turned black.

[40] All day is the big explosion.

[41] It's so black you couldn't even see.

[42] So I finally made it my way until I could get outside.

[43] More than 30 million Americans are still under winter weather alerts, as an impending storm is predicted to batter multiple regions later this week.

[44] Meteorologists say that while states in the Midwest and along the West Coast will deal with cold and snow, some areas in the southeast will see unprecedented warm temperatures.

[45] GOP congressman George Santos, who is accused of fabricating key details on his resume during his run for Congress, admitted to lying about his college education during an interview with Peers Morgan released this week.

[46] What's the simple explanation for why you met?

[47] Why would you lie about something like that?

[48] Expectation on society, the pressure, couldn't afford it, decided I wanted to run for office.

[49] And I just didn't have that part of my biography.

[50] Do you not think that you'd be cool?

[51] You know, I just went with it.

[52] I didn't think.

[53] I mean, if you're going to make up a lie, are you thinking at all?

[54] I just think it was a stupid decision in my part.

[55] Very stupid decision that I regret every day.

[56] The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Gonzalez v. Google on Tuesday, a case dealing with free speech and content moderation on social media platforms.

[57] The Gonzalez family is suing Google, saying that the platform's algorithm promoted ISIS content that led to the Paris bombing in 2015 that killed their daughter.

[58] The court will hear a similar case against Twitter on Wednesday.

[59] Asbury College announced that it will move to end the historic religious revival that has been going on for 13 days after more than 50 ,000 Christians have descended on the small Kentucky town since the service began.

[60] Asbury University President Kevin Brown said in a statement that Wilmore, Kentucky simply doesn't have the infrastructure suited for thousands of outsiders, but added that he hopes that visitors will continue similar revivals in their own towns.
