The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz XX
[0] You're listening to Draft King's Network.
[1] Now's a good time to remember where the story of tequila started.
[2] In 1795, the first tequila distillery was opened by the Cuervo family.
[3] And 229 years later, Cuervo is still going strong.
[4] Family owned from the start, same family, same land.
[5] Now's a good time to enjoy Cuervo.
[6] The tequila that invented tequila.
[7] Go to Quervo .com to shop tequila or visit a store near you.
[8] Quervo, now's a good time.

[12] Jersey City, New Jersey.
[13] Please drink responsibly.
[14] Welcome to the Big Suey.
[15] Presented by Draft Kings.
[16] Why are you listening to this show?
[17] The podcast that seems very similar to the other Dan Lebitard podcast.
[18] I'm sorry, I'm not going to apologize for that.
[19] In fact, the only difference seems to be this imaging.
[20] I have been tempted in restaurants just walking past tables to grab somebody's fries if they're just there.
[21] That hasn't happened to you guys?
[22] I've done it.
[23] And now, here's the marching man to nowhere, fat face, and the habitual liar.
[24] So I'm sorry, I'm not going to be able to deliver on the wholesome content.
[25] I figured the week's been uplifting enough that it would be overkill if I just decided to put a timeline cleanse on you.
[26] But I am going to post this photo up real quick as part of his tour of St. Louis, Matthew Kachuk.
[27] I guess his neighbors, if you zoom in quickly, I'm not going to ask you to a video.
[28] I know I've already put you in a spot.
[29] but that's Chris Winkie's Heisman Trophy that I guess Chris Winkie is in that St. Louis area so it's a real cool photo.
[30] Matthew Kuchuk posing with Lord Stanley and the Heisman Trophy.
[31] But it does bring a stat.
[32] You don't have to do Saturday of the day.
[33] I don't want the short one.
[34] Was he the one that was in bed with the Stanley Cup like two days ago?
[35] He was in bed.
[36] It seems really uncomfortable.
[37] Like the Stanley Cup takes up so much of that bed.
[38] Well, it's a big bed.
[39] If you had to sleep with any trophy.
[40] It'd be that one.
[41] College football national title.
[42] The Super Bowl trophy is very sleek and smooth.
[43] Yeah.
[44] There's no jagged edge.
[45] So here's the set that I want to tell everybody.
[46] And I think it's a good one.
[47] So as we saw there, throw it back out, the Heisman Trophy of Chris Winky and Matthew Kachuk.
[48] Matthew Kachuk, a veteran of the NHL, he's on his second team, finally wins Lord Stanley.
[49] When Chris Winky won that Heisman Trophy over there, which is presented to the most outstanding player in college football.
[50] Matthew Kachuk is presently two and a half years younger than Chris Winkie was when he won that trophy.
[51] That feels impossible?
[52] Wait, what?
[53] Matthew Kachuk is 26 years old.
[54] Chris Winky was 28 years old when he won the Heisman trophy.
[55] That's crazy.
[56] That's a crazy step.
[57] That's crazy.
[58] Yeah, it was 28.
[59] It was worth it.
[60] Yeah, Chris, it was worth it.
[61] Boom.
[62] All right, we bring on Adnan and David Samson.
[63] Great to see you, gentlemen.
[64] We've talked a lot about movies.
[65] We talked a lot about disaster movies this week.
[66] We're really excited for Twisters and Glenn Powell's career.
[67] But I have to acknowledge the elephant in the room here.
[68] Apparently, David got freezing cold -taked by our show.
[69] An old take of David Samson with regards to an Odell Beckham Jr. lawsuit against Nike.
[70] That whole take in that video just that has reappeared on people's timelines with the result of the lawsuit.
[71] So, David, I'm going to give you like 15 seconds here to defend yourself and apply context.
[72] Read the article.
[73] OBJ did not win the lawsuit.
[74] All I said in the clip was that he would not get a penny from Nike.
[75] And oh, he did not get a penny from Nike.
[76] The jury came back.
[77] How it came back on people's timeline, I don't know.
[78] But no one's reading the articles.
[79] So everyone's calling me out saying that's the worst take ever.
[80] Well, no. In fact, I got it exactly right back in 2022.
[81] OBJ would not prevail over Nike and would not get a dollar.
[82] So the way it's being reported or aggregated is that O'Dell Beckham Jr. just won $20 million from Nike.
[83] It's literally wrong.
[84] That's not actually what happened in the lawsuit at all.
[85] Well, OBJ, the problem is he posted on Instagram that he won the lawsuit.
[86] I guess his lawyers didn't tell him what happened.
[87] So here's the clip in question from two years ago.
[88] Let's throw that up, video.
[89] He doesn't care about other athletes.
[90] He's doing it on behalf of his own bank account.
[91] And here's how nervous Nike is about the lawsuit.
[92] Zero.
[93] Because that's the amount of money Beckham will get.
[94] Well, I guess can you technically argue that you've won $20 million when the direct result of your lawsuit is that you don't have to lose $20 million?
[95] I mean, that's like $20 million in your pocket, right?
[96] Or at least $20 million that stays in your pocket.
[97] okay i'm wrong old takes exposed it's so hard to get you to admit that you're wrong so we'll take that dub hey adnan how's it going now uh historically we give you the entire segment to do a top five and then david samson has like 45 seconds to to rattle through his so i'd like to keep honoring that tradition take your time with your top five and uh welcome aboard a belated happy canada day to you and and great to see you.
[98] I will say on the front end, or I will ask you on the front end, it seems as though disaster movies are starting to make a little bit of a comeback.
[99] And this was a great nostalgic bit for us that got lucky enough to experience big box office cinema in the 1990s.
[100] Are you yourself excited for Twisters?
[101] I am.
[102] Great to see as always, Mike.
[103] Love the Kail McCarsher, by the way.
[104] Non -Panthers related, but just proving again, your hockey bona fide's, fantastic, a perennial Norris trophy winners.
[105] I love that look.
[106] Listen, man. Twisters is supposed to be fantastic.
[107] It's getting rave reviews.
[108] What do you want, a similar blockbuster, good -looking people, big -time action, some cheesy jokes.
[109] Looks like we're going to get that with Twisters.
[110] And I'm with you on Glenn Powell, who is having a moment.
[111] He was fantastic and hitman, which is on Netflix, of course, Richard Linklater's film.
[112] Of course, he's handsome, but he's also funny and charming and intelligent.
[113] And I think, David, I think Glenn Powell is going to be the next big thing as far as leading men are concerned.
[114] I think he's going to be a little overexposed.
[115] But we'll see.
[116] But this movie, I'll watch it.
[117] But I can't say that I'm excited because I am all about Paxton.
[118] I'm all about Hunt.
[119] I'm not quite all about Powell.
[120] I love Philip Seymour Hoffman in the original, too.
[121] PSH amazing.
[122] All right.
[123] Wait, wait, wait.
[124] You have to rewatch the 1996 Twister because Philip Seymour Hoffman, a character, an actor's actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, drawn to great roles.
[125] Food.
[126] No character depth whatsoever with this character in Twister.
[127] 95 % of his dialogue is just being excited.
[128] screaming, Woo!
[129] Early on, Mike, you've got to take any role you can, right?
[130] He was great and the sense of a woman.
[131] It was dark.
[132] I didn't have my glasses on.
[133] He's great.
[134] Four years later, Twister, then you get into Boogie Knights and Magnolia and, of course, Capote.
[135] But yeah.
[136] What about the Big Lobowski?
[137] Big Lobowski, fantastic.
[138] Great.
[139] One scene.
[140] So funny.
[141] Yeah.
[142] All right.
[143] So now that we've done that, let's explain to the audience, the top five that we have here.
[144] I wish they would tie in a little bit more to Twisters, honestly.
[145] It would have been a great top five disaster movies.
[146] and you know exactly what would be my number one.
[147] I'd put the town on alert with Ante's peak.
[148] But at NAMB.
[149] Here's for Austin.
[150] Yeah, put the town on alert.
[151] I want David to explain the segment I did because it was his creation.
[152] I like the idea.
[153] Go ahead, David.
[154] If I known you were going to talk Twisters, we could have done top five disaster movies, but Bob Newhart passed away yesterday.
[155] And to honor Bob Newhart, a legend, an absolute legend, we wanted to do the top five movies that can involve or do involve dreams or dream sequences as a callback to how his show ended as being nothing but a dream in one of the classic endings in the history of television.
[156] So that's what our top five is about.
[157] Rest in peace, Bob.
[158] All right.
[159] We begin with that N. And here's the promise sounder.
[160] Put the town on alert.
[161] I later found out that that wasn't actually Pierce Broson and that was me and it threw me through a loop.
[162] That was you?
[163] That was me. I thought it was Pierce Brasen the entire time.
[164] Oh, way.
[165] Put the town on alert.
[166] Well done.
[167] It's very good.
[168] I was the last time, Mike, somebody mentioned Dante's Peak to Pierce Brazzan.
[169] I think if you mentioned it, he would be elated.
[170] He would be so happy for you know.
[171] Okay, number five, we have La La Land.
[172] Okay, it sounded really like that one.
[173] Okay, there is, of course, the dream sequence.
[174] It's actually Moonlight.
[175] It's actually Moonlight.
[176] Yeah, my best picture.
[177] There you go.
[178] Let's redeem ourselves.
[179] La La La Land, of course, great jazz film, Damien Chazel's movie, Ryan Gossing, Emma Stone.
[180] The final sequence, it's a real whirling, Dervis.
[181] you know, wild camera moving, et cetera, choreography as it ends up being a dream sequence of what gossing hopes, you know, his life could have been.
[182] I think it's a wonderful dream sequence.
[183] La La Land is a Hollywood dream in so many ways.
[184] David, it's my number five.
[185] I hope four is better.
[186] I love La La La La Land, but terrible.
[187] Number four, dream scenario.
[188] That's a new movie.
[189] Exactly.
[190] That's a new movie.
[191] Exactly.
[192] Nobody can mock us for, you know, as far as our old takes.
[193] And we came out last year, Mike Ryan and I. huge Nick Cage fans.
[194] It's demented.
[195] I mean, he's this nebish character, balding, bearded, who shows up in people's dreams.
[196] And at first, it's kind of funny and amusing.
[197] He's just this unassuming character.
[198] But then it gets very dark.
[199] He becomes a malevolent character.
[200] Becomes hated by people.
[201] It becomes a, you know, an allegory for cancel culture.
[202] Dream scenario.
[203] Great Nick Cage performance.
[204] I loved it.
[205] Have either of you seen long legs yet?
[206] Jeremy gave it a glowing review.
[207] How many maple leaves?
[208] I'm giving it three Maple Leafs, Mike.
[209] I just saw it in Texas, actually.
[210] I was there for the All -Star Game, the movie studio where you press a button and they delete.
[211] food to you.
[212] It's a little food for me. Alamo.
[213] Alamo draft house?
[214] Yeah, there you go.
[215] Well done.
[216] They brought me the brisket sliders, and I enjoyed that with the side of fries rather than popcorn and milk duds.
[217] But Nick Cage only in the film, 12 minutes, much like Sansa Lambs and Hannibal Lecter.
[218] You've got to keep the killer at bay, much like the shark and jaws.
[219] You rarely see him, but he was great as always entertaining and creepy, unnerving film.
[220] All right, let's move on.
[221] Number three is the Matrix.
[222] Listen, no, who's going to quit?
[223] Go ahead.
[224] That's not a dream movie.
[225] That's not a dream sequence.
[226] In fact, any of these have been dream movies yeah like what the what was the dream because there's a real world in it yeah so to me it's a dream like situation dream like atmosphere uh i'm challenging the play not a dream movie okay if you want to put a flag on that one that's fine number two eternal sunshine of the spotless mind you have to have your memories erased in the past all these dreams this wonderful warm man that kate wins that jim kerry had stop laughing saps and this is a great movie you love it too eternal sunshine man a dream movie Man, I'm usually such a fan of your top fives, and I think you just blew this assignment.
[227] You just didn't understand it whatsoever.
[228] That is not a dream movie.
[229] That is a lot like The Matrix.
[230] This is a fantastical, altered reality.
[231] But there's no, it's not like Jim Carrey woke up at the end of the movie.
[232] That's what makes a dream movie.
[233] Someone waking up at the end going, huh, I guess it was all a dream.
[234] I'm glad you said it, Mike, because it sets up our number one, The Wizard of Oz.
[235] Right?
[236] Judy Carlin wakes up.
[237] It was all a dream.
[238] This is all just a bit.
[239] That is true.
[240] That is a dream movie.
[241] It's one of the greatest movies of all time.
[242] We redeemed the list of The Wizard of Oz.
[243] Tell me I'm wrong, Samson.
[244] No, it's nice to show your courage.
[245] That's really great, Adnan.
[246] That's a hell of a list.
[247] Per tradition, we have left 90 seconds on the clock for David Samson.
[248] Mike, I have to correct you.
[249] Are you doing a thing?
[250] Because we always do the opposite.
[251] Samson takes up the whole time.
[252] Oh, really?
[253] I love the time.
[254] It shows how much you like this second.
[255] I was like, oh, really.
[256] Wow, man. I'm so sorry.
[257] Mike flips.
[258] Dude, it's great.
[259] No, I assumed, Mike, you were doing a bit.
[260] No, no, no, no, I'm not doing a bit.
[261] I'm just genuinely, like, totally thrown throughout space and time and living in my own dream scenario.
[262] Long week.
[263] I ruined a baby shower yesterday, but, like, I ruined a surprise baby shower by saying, hey, I got to go.
[264] I got a thing.
[265] I did have a thing, but the thing was a haircut.
[266] So.
[267] You son of a bitch.
[268] Yeah, I'm sorry, man. I'm going to go see a doctor now after this show.
[269] I swear to God.
[270] That is terrible.
[271] If there was everybody down that Mike likes my list more.
[272] and Sampson, there's your answer.
[273] Go ahead, David, I'm going to be quick, which is some people remember from last week, is not uncommon.
[274] Number five, total recall.
[275] Terrible.
[276] There is something about this chair.
[277] With Schwarzenegger.
[278] Number four, edge of tomorrow.
[279] Tom Cruise.
[280] Number three, the secret life of Walter Middy.
[281] Read the book, watch the movie.
[282] Do me a favor.
[283] You can slow down a little bit, David.
[284] They're apparently doing a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow, which has since been renamed, die, repeat.
[285] If it was all a dream, how do they make a sequel?
[286] Is he just going to fall asleep again?
[287] I'm going to keep dreaming.
[288] Okay.
[289] I loved Emily Blunt and I love Tom Cruise.
[290] But my number two is what I want to focus on.
[291] It's a movie called Click.
[292] Bravo, David.
[293] That's great.
[294] That's weak.
[295] If you can't take that seriously, you have a problem.
[296] We've all fallen asleep.
[297] Me too, every time.
[298] Beyond bed.
[299] We've all done it.
[300] And the number one movie, that's a dream about dreams.
[301] I don't know where you were on this, Adnan, Inception.
[302] It's a great film.
[303] There's no question.
[304] I just thought there was a little bit of an obvious choice.
[305] But yes, Inception, great movie, last shot, open -ended.
[306] I'm with you, good choice.
[307] And Total Recall, by the way, one of the great lines ever.
[308] Baby, you miss. No, forget, I'm not going to screw it up.
[309] Go ahead.
[310] Wow.
[311] Whoa.
[312] My goodness.
[313] Check it on that one.
[314] That's what you get for letting Adnan go first.
[315] That is what I get.
[316] I am definitely going to put my neurologist on alert, though, after this.
[317] on alert, put the neurologist on alert.
[318] I want to hear more of this baby shower that might completely kamikaze.
[319] That's great.
[320] There's mystery crate.
[321] Trust me, you don't.
[322] Mystery crate is coming up.
[323] All right.
[324] Thank you, fellas.
[325] Thank you for your time.
[326] I am genuinely going to call my insurance company right now and see what's covered and what's not.
[327] I thought it was a bit.
[328] Thanks, guys.
[329] Listen up, folks.
[330] The college football landscape has changed a lot.
[331] NIL deal, social media, the transfer portal.
[332] There's never been more distractions for an athlete.
[333] But Powerade knows what's important.
[334] The commitment to the game.
[335] The game is what matters.
[336] With 50 % more electrolytes than Gatorade their squinter, Powerade hydrates athletes as they block out the noise and put in the work.
[337] Hydrate your grind with Powerade.
[338] Grab a pack today on Amazon or at a store near you.
[339] See product label for additional details.
[340] It takes more.
[341] Don Lebertard.
[342] For weeks, months even, during the regular season, I wondered, allowed what Kevin Stenland did.
[343] And then about three weeks ago, it hit me. Stugats, he gives them one of these, and he gives them one of those.
[344] This is the Dan Levitar show with the Stugats.
[345] That's how it starts, man. You screw up one segment, next thing, you just, like, are feeding 24 cats.
[346] There really isn't a huge bridge between those two events.
[347] I'm deeply concerned right now for mixing that all up.
[348] You think I'm just so, like, it's just a common mistake?
[349] I don't listen to their segments either.
[350] Don't worry about it.
[351] Lucy, you've actually, like, even though you didn't do, like, the Twisters attraction, you were in that, like, tornado corridor in the Midwest.
[352] Do you have any experiences?
[353] Yeah, the tornadoes, it was, so when I first moved to Iowa, which I'm not from Iowa, it's a very common mistake, and I totally get it.
[354] I'm from North Carolina.
[355] We would get some tornadoes in North Carolina, but not regularly.
[356] So when I first went to school in Iowa, I remember.
[357] the first time that like the sirens went off and we had to go into like the tunnels underneath the dorm and I'm like freaking out having a panic attack.
[358] How much a heads up did you have between like warning?
[359] You so like you'll get so you know the weather forecast and you'll get alert so you're just like hey you'll get what like alert oh put the town on alert blah blah I get it.
[360] Put the town on alert and then so we would go so you probably have like 20 you know an hour before weather.
[361] Wow see in 1996's Twister, they only had three minutes.
[362] You had three minutes and maybe Dorothy can take us to 15.
[363] Okay, so I've never seen that movie.
[364] I'll go see the new one, probably, potentially, maybe.
[365] I don't know.
[366] I say that, no. You're not doing.
[367] I know I'm not going to do it.
[368] Well, do you have any travel plans this weekend?
[369] Yes.
[370] You no longer have travel plans.
[371] So, wait, but my question back to Twisters is how long did the, did the Twister last?
[372] Oh, well, so.
[373] About 90 minutes.
[374] Yeah, that's not, that's not typical.
[375] Well, sometimes, like, well, for the F3, it went away and then respawned directly on top of them.
[376] The extreme had such great instincts, like he knew.
[377] Like, Kerry always had all this science and stuff like that, but he was like...
[378] He had the gut feeling.
[379] Yeah.
[380] This is why he's Bill Paxton.
[381] But what I'm saying is, like, what I'm saying is you definitely don't have travel plans anymore because of this Microsoft outage, Lucy.
[382] The Stanley Cup was supposed to...
[383] The Stanley Cup was supposed to be with Caliposo today, and that event has been canceled.
[384] He rented out in an arena because the Stanley Cup is stuck in St. Louis because of the Microsoft outage that has affected all sorts of travel.
[385] It is a terrible weekend to want to go anywhere.
[386] I saw a picture of the sphere with the Microsoft thing, but I don't know if it was Photoshopped.
[387] It easily could have been Photoshopped.
[388] I'll never do the research to figure out if it was or not.
[389] Roy, this is bad news for all your computers at home.
[390] Oh, crap.
[391] It's the funniest take of the funny.
[392] I get it.
[393] I know some people in my life that are like, we're not doing anything with Apple, but then they just give all their business to Microsoft and Google as if they're teaching Big Tech a lesson.
[394] We'll show them.
[395] I have a question for Roy.
[396] Roy, if you're wearing a Mick overrated shirt, is that you co -signing what Greg Cody said?
[397] Oh, wow.
[398] No, it's just me wearing a nice shirt that looks good.
[399] That's a co -sign.
[400] Do you pay for that shirt?
[401] Yes, I pay for you.
[402] Then you co -sign.
[403] Roy, you're supposed to be an impartial member of the hockey media.
[404] Am I going to wear this at a hockey game?
[405] No. You're wearing it on a show.
[406] You're making a statement.
[407] In LaGuardia airports on mute.
[408] I'm also wearing a wireless cap.
[409] So why?
[410] The hockey show is being recorded today, no?
[411] You're wearing this for the hockey show.
[412] Yes, I'm also wearing a jacket.
[413] I can actually zip up.
[414] But why would you wear that and zip it up?
[415] I don't understand.
[416] You made the decision.
[417] I'm going to go on the computer.
[418] I'm going to click on a link.
[419] I'm going to purchase this thing.
[420] I'm going to get it sent to my house.
[421] Yes.
[422] You think he's overrated?
[423] No, I just think the shirt looks nice.
[424] I'm just, I'm slightly concerned.
[425] It's the same logo.
[426] I'm worried about the fallout for you, to be perfectly honest with you.
[427] The fallout.
[428] You didn't want to drink from Lord Stanley's Cup on the night that the Panthers won because you said you didn't want to get in trouble with the hockey world and you didn't want to get banned and all that stuff.
[429] But here you are wearing a Mc Overrated shirt, which is probably more damaging and less understandable.
[430] It's not more.
[431] damaging.
[432] Those are two completely separate things.
[433] I would lose my credential probably for next year from the Panthers if I did that so no. I think that there's an understanding vibe when that's going on.
[434] I think that they would understand if you drank from the cup.
[435] If someone offered you to drink from the cup, I think they'd get it.
[436] It is.
[437] You just don't film it and put it out there.
[438] No one's going to be like, that guy looks like he drank out of the cup.
[439] If that was a case and you might as well drink...
[440] I mean, you're drinking at a bar anyways, what difference does it make?
[441] It's a different type of cup.
[442] I'm going to judge you for like how drunk you were.
[443] I mean, you're in the post -game celebration.
[444] Not because, well, I'm judging you right now because you made the sober decision and wear that shirt.
[445] You have picked some enemies in the game of hockey.
[446] Have I?
[447] Right to the top of the food chain.
[448] Really?
[449] Rosby and Connor McDavid.
[450] Very strange.
[451] But just circle back, cycle back to Lucy.
[452] So you get your 20 minutes now.
[453] Thank you to Bill Paxson and Helen Hunt for all their great advancements in science.
[454] You have 20 minutes now to get out of the way.
[455] I feel like that's boring.
[456] Do you have to go into a storm cellar?
[457] So I actually say, in a picture to video dump if they'd like to show it of one of the tornadoes that's a dicey proposition today i'm a little nervous you don't really need to see it it's just a tornado um so as i like lived in iowa longer and just got more used to the storms how often would this happen it a couple times a year a lot during the summer so this was outside my apartment once i would just i would push it i would stand on my porch full dad arms like this extreme nice thing you know you're chucking a bottle of jack daniels that will never come down i'm just watching it because it's really really cool to see it's terrifying and like you've seen the damage that these tornadoes can do and I don't want to like temperature drops yeah yeah the temperature drops I don't want to trivialize it at all because it's deadly and very very dangerous but like there was one year at Iowa where a tornado went right through a sorority house wow crazy do you guys ever play the game like oh that cloud looks like this can we put that picture back up of the cloud because there's like two clouds here there's like the blueish part and then the gray the gray looks like the alien face.
[458] Do you guys see that?
[459] It looks like the...
[460] Oh yeah, it does.
[461] The popcorn bucket.
[462] Oh my God, it looks like the popcorn bucket.
[463] That's terrifying.
[464] Yeah, that's cool.
[465] I'm not to trivializing.
[466] I'm not going to trivialize it either, but do you remember when when, wow, my brain might actually be okay?
[467] You were struggling with trivialized too.
[468] Having a stroke?
[469] A cup of coffee?
[470] You only get a cup of coffee?
[471] Okay, so do you remember when Roy indirectly, well, he directly quoted Twister.
[472] He just had no idea when he was doing it.
[473] remember the context was that a tornado touched down in his neighborhood and he directly quoted twister by saying word for word you've never seen it miss this house and that house and come straight after you and he just kept moving as if he didn't directly quote twister and we call them out on it and he's like i guess i did yeah i didn't know at that time i'm glad you pointed it out yeah uh so I know that you don't necessarily go to a secondary ticket marketplace, but I imagine the demand for Twisters is through the roof.
[474] I'm Bill Paxton.
[475] Through the roof.
[476] And say, hey, if there were a secondary ticket marketplace for movies, I imagine GameTime would be the industry leader in that too, because Game Time for me is the top of the heap when it comes to the secondary ticket marketplace.
[477] Because any time I need a ticket and I'm in a pinch and it's in demand, I go there first.
[478] because I know they got the low -price guarantee seller customer service.
[479] I can see what my seat looks like.
[480] I love this app, and I implore you to download the GameTime app, create an account, use code Dan for $20 off your first purchase, terms apply, last minute tickets, lowest price guaranteed.
[481] I love that low -price guarantee.
[482] That is the GameTime app.
[483] Support us and GameTime by using that promo code Dan.
[484] Chris Cody.
[485] Chris Cody.
[486] Oh, are we going to do a sports topic?
[487] Because I got one.
[488] I wasn't going to do a sports topic.
[489] I was going to do like how you saved your bowling league, but we can do a sports topic.
[490] That is sports adjacent.
[491] You were supposed to be a part of the Tony show.
[492] Yes.
[493] And you were supposed to compete in our best ball draft, which...
[494] I heard Cynthia kind of ruined it for me, but fine.
[495] No, I can't complain.
[496] I wasn't here.
[497] She took Jalen Hertz first round.
[498] I mean, you know, come on.
[499] It's best ball.
[500] It was a bad pick.
[501] It was a bad pick.
[502] But you missed this, which we had been planning for a while.
[503] and your reason was I got to go bowling and my whole thought was like well this has been calendared and bowling night is also calendared I thought you made the decision to skip bowling night and support Tony I did and then I got text from my dad and my father -in -law and my brother so it was only going to be my buddy Anthony there and the way the bowling league works if you don't have two people show up you like lose points basically we didn't win anything we avoided getting eliminated from championship contention If he was the only bowler, if we had one bowler, we would have gotten eliminated from championship contention.
[504] So I had to show up for the boys.
[505] Can I read the text?
[506] Can I read the text that Chris sent me?
[507] Yes.
[508] He said, dude, I'm really sorry, but with my dad and father -in -law not making it to bowling tonight, my team will forfeit and get eliminated from being able to win it all if I don't go.
[509] Someday I'll make it to an M .A. Out or Tony's show.
[510] Well, did you catch any of the Tony show?
[511] What?
[512] Did you catch any other?
[513] I did.
[514] I tuned in.
[515] I did.
[516] I caught some of it.
[517] You've seen of it?
[518] I saw of it.
[519] Any, we'll appreciate your 15 seconds.
[520] That all just goes to a view.
[521] That's a view.
[522] I appreciate that.
[523] No, I definitely tuned in.
[524] But did you know what went down?
[525] I heard, I kept hearing, I turned in pretty late.
[526] You kept hearing this?
[527] And I was like, where's Mike around still saying it?
[528] But they were playing that clip like every 20 minutes.
[529] How did the pack?
[530] Throughout the night.
[531] I saw that clip.
[532] Yeah, we can recap it for you, though.
[533] And for anybody else that missed it, Tony, it was your show after all.
[534] It was helpful.
[535] We had a blast.
[536] We did a best ball drive.
[537] Shout out to Draft Kings for hooking us up with that.
[538] That was an awesome little hour that we did that draft.
[539] Really got me juiced out for football season.
[540] I'm telling you.
[541] Best ball, people were discovering best ball for the first time on during the draft.
[542] Everybody loved it.
[543] It might be the new wave of the future for fantasy sports.
[544] We'll get to that in a second.
[545] And then we did a mascot themed NCAA 2006 tournament in which I won and a beat Taylor 3514 in the final.
[546] It was not even close.
[547] I ran the Power Eye straight fullback and halfback dive for 300.
[548] hundred yards up the middle of the field.
[549] Taylor could do nothing to stop it.
[550] It's the Tony show.
[551] Thank you.
[552] So I appreciate that recap there, Tony.
[553] And now, see, look how much you missed.
[554] You missed that.
[555] You miss a really in -depth Packers recap.
[556] I wonder how they do it.
[557] It was Ethan's night.
[558] It really was.
[559] It was a night of a game of a star.
[560] Yeah.
[561] But you mentioned that you have a sports topic.
[562] Is Brandon Ayuk good enough to request a trade?
[563] That's what I want to know.
[564] Brandon Ayuk is really good.
[565] I see ESPN had him at number 10.
[566] It's just like, where's the line on when we just say, you're not good enough to request a trade?
[567] It's not Brandon and Ike as you're telling me the line is below him.
[568] Well, what's going on with San Francisco overall?
[569] Because it's been kind of like a cat and mouse game with all their receivers, where everybody except the guy that's actually in the show receiver, who technically, I guess, is a receiver, but is really a tight end.
[570] He's the only one that hasn't requested a trade or had rumors surrounding him.
[571] I guess they're in a bad cap situation.
[572] What's the deal?
[573] Because they shouldn't be in a bad cap situation because a quarterback position is dirt cheap for them.
[574] I guess her backup quarterback makes so much more money than their starter.
[575] Is this Christian McCaffrey's contract?
[576] What is he unhappy?
[577] He very clearly wants a new deal.
[578] But Brandon Nyuk, who I have to remind myself, played college ball with Jaden Daniels.
[579] Because Brandon Nyukes feels like he's been in the league.
[580] forever.
[581] By the way, Tony, have you played CFB 25?
[582] Of course.
[583] So you go through these teams and you'd be shocked to see the kids of NFL players that are playing with teams.
[584] Nate Berluson the second is playing for Nevada.
[585] Really?
[586] Eugene Wilson III is playing for Florida.
[587] I thought at some point, like so many players might have opted out, that they just started creating guys that had a lineage to like these schools but no Nate Berluson the second is actually like a Nevada receiver I've been told that I say Nevada wrong Nevada Nevada it's Nevada yeah okay I thought it's not a tomato tomato thing it's I've always thought it was so this is like a Louisville thing where people that feel like really passionate I don't even try I won't even say that school slash town name because every time I say it people get really angry with me or Oregon and Oregon yeah that's weird I don't know anyone who says Oregon.
[588] So it's Nevada.
[589] It's Nevada.
[590] I like it my way better.
[591] It's here in Miami guys who say Nevada.
[592] It's how I feel about Appalachian.
[593] When people say Appalachian, I hate it.
[594] It's Appalachian.
[595] To answer your question on the 49ers, by the way, it seems like Iyuk is just frustrated that they've extended other players and not gotten him his money yet.
[596] So I think Debo signed a contract a couple years ago.
[597] Christian McCaffrey got an extension.
[598] Juan Jennings, another receiver on the team, already signed a contract at a bigger number for next year.
[599] and so he wants his money after a great statistical season.
[600] He's 26 years old.
[601] This is the time to capitalize on it.
[602] And he's just not getting the offer from them that he wants.
[603] 26 years old and played with Jaden Daniels in college, that's another mindbender a little bit.
[604] This is the last of the COVID years, though.
[605] So I think, like, all that stuff goes away after this year.
[606] Although you're going to have guys sticking around in college a hell of a lot more now with NIL.
[607] Cam Rising.
[608] That's right, Cam Rising.
[609] He's coming back this year.
[610] He's coming back this year.
[611] He's coming back this year.
[612] How old is Cam Rising?
[613] I believe.
[614] I think Cam Rising.
[615] might be older than Matthew Kachuk.
[616] He's 25.
[617] He was born in 1999.
[618] He's a year younger than me. When you're hiring for your small business, you want to find quality professionals that are right for the role.

[634] Don Lebertard.
[635] He seems like a not nice guy and he's always been a not nice guy.
[636] I don't care for him.
[637] And I hope he has the day he deserves.
[638] Oh, let's see.
[639] Stugats.
[640] I hope he has the day he deserves.
[641] That's how I get people when they're really mean to me. I'm not like, go F yourself.
[642] I'm like, I hope you have the day.
[643] you deserve.
[644] It's a great kind.
[645] It's a great kind insult.
[646] Yes.
[647] It's beautiful.
[648] It's leaving it to the cosmos to sort it out.
[649] That's a less Southern bless your heart.
[650] This is the Dan Levitar show with the Stugats.
[651] What about awesome?
[652] That's great.
[653] Awesome Cooper.
[654] All right.
[655] So this has been not a good show for me in terms of getting things wrong.
[656] I'm deeply concerned.
[657] I'm going to double up on the ginko but um how do you pronounce a singer's name is it bb rexa that was raja i've always heard i've always heard rachel you thought it was what i don't listen listen listen listen please well i'm just you're young so you're not you're not listening though because you're talking but i'm trust you see how that's conflicting with one another that is a great way to shout somebody out thank you i went to a school with a girl named annie raja and she said that she was her cousin i don't believe that So I always just called her B .B. Regia said that they were related.
[658] Was it spelled the same way?
[659] Exact same way.
[660] Well, I trust Andy then.
[661] But I think, is B .B. Armenian?
[662] Because that's what Annie was Armenian.
[663] So maybe they are related.
[664] I don't know.
[665] So I always said it that way because of Annie.
[666] And aren't you glad you listened to that?
[667] You systematically took me out to the point that I'm afraid of talking, both because of how efficient that was and also because I don't trust my brain today.
[668] She's Albanian.
[669] Yeah, no, just kidding.
[670] I think Annie was Albanian.
[671] And from North Macedonia.
[672] That's not where Annie's from.
[673] Well, I feel a little bit better about myself now.
[674] So if that was the end game, thank you, Spence.
[675] Her father was born in Debar, and part of Yugoslavia?
[676] I don't know Annie that well, so I don't.
[677] Oh, wait, wait, it tells, no, it's still Albanian, sorry.
[678] Maybe they're, like, I don't think they were, like, really, like, a media family, but maybe, like, second cousins or something.
[679] So I always, I don't listen to her music, nor do I ever talk about her.
[680] think about her ever.
[681] But I always thought it was Raja because of Andy.
[682] Google says Rexa.
[683] Rexa.
[684] Okay, well, Andy says Raja.
[685] And the first name, Bibi?
[686] Yes, Bibi.
[687] Bebe.
[688] It's actually Bleda, but...
[689] It looks like Bebe.
[690] Because I have a friend named Bibi, and it's B -I -B -I, not B -E -B -E.
[691] The store B -Bee was pronounced B -B, or was spelled B -E -B -E, but was pronounced B -B.
[692] Okay, so B -B -B -Rexa, I believe, four years older than Austin Hooper.
[693] She's 34 years old.
[694] Yeah, she's 34.
[695] She's been doing this for a minute.
[696] For a little while.
[697] Most people, when you have a huge pop hit and you kind of burst on the scene, people kind of tend to ignore, like, how long you've been on the scene, but she's been grinding for a while.
[698] Speaking of pop hits, I had something happened the other day, and it's actually related to Glenn Powell.
[699] So I was watching the movie, Anyone But You.
[700] Bad movies.
[701] Yeah, not a great movie.
[702] But if you've watched it, one of the constant themes throughout is the song Unwritten by Natica.
[703] This is a trope of rom -coms everywhere, find a song that people have a feeling to, and it just helps you get a little further into the film.
[704] Well, so this is interesting, right?
[705] Because what, you know, after any movie I watch, I end up Googling the cast, Googling the director, the writer, whatever, and I see what they do.
[706] And so I was looking at the director of this movie.
[707] His name is Will Gluck, and looking back through the movies that he'd done before.
[708] And one of them was EZA, the movie with Emma Stone.
[709] Good movie.
[710] And if you remember, in that movie...
[711] You saw how I pounce and I said, Emma Stone because I'm trying to challenge my brain to make sure I'm still here.
[712] Emily Stone.
[713] You know, she wants to go by Emily now.
[714] She does.
[715] That's her name.
[716] Red flag.
[717] That's for real?
[718] She mentioned it.
[719] Because someone, some other actor had Emily Stone.
[720] So that's why she went with Emma Stone originally.
[721] But now she's like, everyone's always called me in my life, Emily.
[722] But I'm just, I had to be Emma because of the way the...
[723] I'm very proud of your retention.
[724] Because we talked about this a couple weeks ago.
[725] Me?
[726] Yeah.
[727] Oh.
[728] Oh, never mind.
[729] I thought that you were just recalling the conversation.
[730] I might not have been here.
[731] Was I here?
[732] You're a bowman.
[733] Are you guys, I rescind my pride in you.
[734] Hold on.
[735] What is happening right now?
[736] You can't mess around with me. I don't remember this.
[737] Mike is in a bad spot.
[738] No, this is a real thing.
[739] I just heard Emma Stone in an interview on social media saying that recently.
[740] I don't remember us talking about that.
[741] Drop the Lee.
[742] It's cleaner.
[743] Anyway, uh, one hit wonder.
[744] Well, Emma Stone?
[745] No. In Easy A. Hold on.
[746] Emily Stone.
[747] Billy.
[748] Billy.
[749] Lily, I need your help today.
[750] Emily Stone?
[751] I would argue Emily Stone?
[752] No hit Wonder at the moment.
[753] Bad Emmolese.
[754] So in EZA, a song that is a constant in that is pocketful of sunshine, also by Natasha Bettingfield.
[755] So very weird that the same director, 14 years apart, used two different Natasha Beddingfield songs as a through line in his movie.
[756] Playing the hits?
[757] But the Benadfields together have three hits.
[758] But what it made me think of was that Natasha Bettingfield has two.
[759] hits.
[760] She has unwritten and she has pocket full of sunshine.
[761] And if I came to you with Natasha Bettingfield as the best two -hit wonder, we know about one -hit wonders, but not a lot of people get to have two gigantic songs and then basically drop off the face of the earth in terms of making more music.
[762] So if I came to you with Natasha Bettingfield is the greatest two -hit wonder, are there any other two -hit wonders that come to mind?
[763] The Beatles.
[764] The Beatle.
[765] How dare you?
[766] No, I know Lucy's messing with me, but okay.
[767] Blues Traveler, Run Around and Hook.
[768] Oh, come on.
[769] I've never heard of that...
[770] The Runaround, I know.
[771] I know run around.
[772] There's a song about mountains.
[773] It's one of those things, though, like, if you don't know the song by its title, is it really another hit?
[774] Because there's a lot of, there's a lot of artists where you could argue on the charts.
[775] Sure, that song did well.
[776] But if you don't know it off the top of your head, I got a good one.
[777] This is not me. This is Reddit, but Tone Loke, Wild Thing, Funky Cold Medina.
[778] Great nomination.
[779] Great, because you don't even know that Tone Loke exists for the most part, but you know both of those songs.
[780] And those are, those are Tone Lowe.
[781] I think you don't know that Tone Lowe.
[782] You're too young.
[783] You don't even remember Ace Mintura Pet Detective?
[784] I mean, no, I don't.
[785] Man, look up Jim Carrey's 94, by the way.
[786] My God, Pah.
[787] All right, so who else is a two -hit wonder?
[788] I mean, that's the question I'm coming to you guys with, is I have Natasha Bettingfield as the best example of it.
[789] We were going through the other day, a couple of the folks in the other room.
[790] We were talking about some of the artists from the early 2000s.
[791] Someone said Cisco as an option.
[792] Wait, Cisco is tricky because as a featured artist, he had hits and also he was a part of Drew Hill.
[793] So what are the ground rules?
[794] So you're trying to find either as a solo artist or an individual band.
[795] Someone brought up the plain white T's, but I think it's difficult because, hey there, Delilah is such a bigger hit than any of the other.
[796] What's the second hit?
[797] They had that song, 1, 2, 3, 4 that was on the radio.
[798] See, Lucy knows it.
[799] So maybe it depends on your age.
[800] Sing it.
[801] O -Town?
[802] I can't sing it.
[803] O -Town, Liquid Dreams?
[804] And all or nothing.
[805] It's, um...
[806] Wow, the writing on all or nothing.
[807] Like that.
[808] Yeah, well done.
[809] I think that's right.
[810] Vanilla Ice had Ice Ice Ice Baby and the Ninja Turtle song.
[811] Come on.
[812] The Ninja Turtles.
[813] Are you here to say the Ninja Turtle song was not a good song?
[814] It was not a hit.
[815] It was absolutely a hit.
[816] Pretty Ricky and The Mavericks.
[817] So that O -Town Liquid Dream song is pretty disgusting.
[818] It's just about nocturnal emissions.
[819] And the way that they said, avoided saying wet dreams was just liquid dreams.
[820] It's the same exact thing.
[821] But I heard it not too long ago.
[822] I'm like, okay, this is a little catchy.
[823] But all or nothing at all just is hugely infuriating to me. Why?
[824] It's a great song.
[825] They rhyme all with all.
[826] So?
[827] If you can't see why that bothers me. Cutting crew.
[828] They have, I just died in your arms tonight, and I've been in love before.
[829] Look up Berlin.
[830] Berlin had take my breath away.
[831] I feel like Berlin had another one.
[832] That was kind of a banger.
[833] Looking it up.
[834] Not the city.
[835] Air supply?
[836] No more words?
[837] All out of love.
[838] And what else?
[839] What's the other one?
[840] The other one I have.
[841] No, I'm sure air supply does.
[842] You know it.
[843] You know it.
[844] No, I'm sure air supply does qualify.
[845] But I'm struggling today.
[846] and I need your help.
[847] Roy, I feel like you'd be really good at this game.
[848] I'm thinking of some R &B singers right now, but I can't really find it.
[849] What were the Beatles, too, songs?
[850] Hey Jude and yesterday.
[851] Those were the giant pick.
[852] Help.

[856] It's harder to be a one -hit wonder these days.
[857] Oh, I would argue the opposite.
[858] Really?
[859] Yeah, I think.
[860] I think, yeah, because of TikTok, there are so many artists that one part of their song becomes part of a trend, and it skyrockets, and everybody listens to that one song, but never even learns either the rest of that song or any other music by that artist.
[861] So they end up having a chart -topping hit, but I think, like, one hit wonder, I think the reason that this was interesting to me is like a two -hit wonder is such a rarity in that, look at us, we can't even come up with several, but there's.
[862] There are so many one hit wonders.
[863] People that had that one more, the Jay Giles band had centerfold.
[864] And like, there are so many one hit wonders, but the two hit wonder, it's a mystery.
[865] And I'll probably got to get fried for this, but I was shocked to learn Hozier is like a headliner.
[866] Dude, I've seen him three times.
[867] He's so popular.
[868] He's hugely popular.
[869] Super popular.
[870] Yeah, you're right.
[871] I just like know the ones all.
[872] Yeah, well, you should learn more.
