[5] FTX CEO Sam Bankman -Fried has been sentenced to over two decades in prison.

[6] Daily Wire senior editor, Cabot Phillips, has more.

[7] The embattled former cryptocurrency mogul was hit with 25 years for his role in his company's collapse and the defrauding of users.

[8] In court today, U .S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan said Bankman Freed had obstructed justice and tampered with witnesses in mounting his defense, which Kaplan acknowledged played a role in his ruling.

[9] Bankman Freed was convicted on seven criminal counts in November and had been in holding since.

[10] Prosecutors sought as much as 50 years, while Bankman Fried's legal team argued for no more than six and a half years, claiming that FTX users, quote, did not say, suffer substantial losses, something current FTX administrator John Ray said was false in a letter to the judge.

[11] Prosecutors said the brazenness of the crime and the extent of the victim's losses warranted a harsher sentence.

[12] Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee heard pretrial motions today in the Georgia election interference case.

[13] Attorneys for Donald Trump are seeking to dismiss the case, arguing that the former president calling the election results into question was, quote, the height of political speech.

[14] They said that, even if what the president said were untrue, his speech is protected by the First Amendment.

[15] Prosecution, however, claims that Trump's speech was part of a conspiracy to commit crimes.

[16] For purposes of the RICO statute and the manner in which it functions, it doesn't matter whether that's First Amendment conduct or not.

[17] My colleague has fully explained why much of this conduct is not shielded under any circumstance by the First Amendment.

[18] Judge McAfee ended the hearing without making any rulings on the motions.

[19] Four people have been killed and several others injured in a stabbing rampage in and around Rockford, Illinois.

[20] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the latest.

[21] Police say a 22 -year -old man has been taken into custody for his alleged involvement in violence which spans multiple scenes.

[22] It's not yet clear how the violence unfolded.

[23] According to reports, four survivors were in stable condition after being stabbed by the attacker.

[24] One survivor remains in critical condition.

[25] Officials have not yet identified the four people who, were killed, but described them as a 15 -year -old girl, a 63 -year -old woman, a 49 -year -old man, and a 22 -year -old man. According to officials, not all of them died from being stabbed.

[26] During a press conference today, officials revealed the suspect said he had been on drugs.

[27] Soto said he believes the drugs provided to him by Jacob were, quote, laced, unquote, with an unknown narcotic.

[28] Soto said he became paranoid after the drug usage.

[29] He said he retrieved a knife from the kitchen at Jacob's House and proceeded to staff Jacob and Ramon it to death.

[33] California's state bar has recommended John Eastman, a Trump election attorney, be disbarred.

[34] The Wednesday filing comes months after Eastman was charged with multiple disciplinary counts stemming from allegations surrounding Trump's questioning of the 2020 election results, the judge ruled that Eastman exhibited, quote, an unwillingness to acknowledge ethical lapses regarding his actions, demonstrating an apparent inability to accept responsibility.

[35] Former Connecticut Senator and 2000 vice presidential candidate to Al Gore, Joe Lieberman, has died at age 82.

[36] Lieberman was the first Jewish VP nominee for a major party and later became known for his efforts at bipartisanship.

[37] In his final years, Lieberman was the founding chairman of the no -label's political movement.

[38] A statement from his family reads, Senator Lieberman's love of God, his family, and America endured throughout his life of service in the public interest.

[39] And the White House is expecting 40 ,000 guests to participate in their, quote, education -themed Easter egg roll on Monday, up 10 ,000 from last year.

[40] Long -time educator and First Lady Jill Biden plans to transform the more than century -old.
