Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard XX
[0] Uh, you were out of town I saw on Instagram.
[1] Yes.
[2] Welcome back.
[3] Thank you.
[4] I went to Arizona.
[5] It was kind of a last minute.
[6] I got invited to, there was an abortion rally on Saturday and then pro or, well, I know, I'm still in the, still undecided.
[7] Pro, definitely pro.
[8] But then I saw that Trump is doing his first rally coming straight out of his conviction.
[9] And so.
[10] My God, what a sentence was.
[11] stupid sentence.
[12] Yeah, it's not okay.
[13] That just came out of my mouth.
[14] So I saw he was doing a rally on Thursday and I was like, well, if I'm going to go to Arizona, I'm going to go to both.
[15] And so I ended up going to the Trump rally and interviewing a lot of men.
[16] Trump supporters.
[17] Yes, Trump supporters about women's bodies.
[18] I quizzed them on women's bodies, basically, to see how much they knew.
[19] Uh -huh.
[20] And I didn't get a single no from anyone.
[21] Oh, wow.
[22] So I was pretty heartened by that.
[23] I don't know how much you want me to get to it.
[24] I'm curious.
[25] First of all, I'm just going to say it.
[26] He's going to win.
[27] Like, based on just the experience I had and how similar it is to, like, 2016, where just there's so much enthusiasm for him and it was so normal.
[28] Like, it wasn't like the fringe.
[29] Like, in 2016, it was like, you were like, why are people so angry?
[30] Like, who are these people?
[31] Where are they coming?
[32] You know, it was sort of these fringe groups of people who have never voted before.
[33] Obviously, there are a lot of people who have voted before who voted for him.
[34] But it was sort of a radical kind of movement.
[35] And now it was just teenage sons in the.
[36] their moms and families and a diversity of ages, a diversity of everything.
[37] And it just struck me. And then I've not been to a Biden rally yet, but the enthusiasm gap is scary.
[38] I'm very scared as well.
[39] I mean, I do feel, though, that's sort of generally speaking how these parties divide.
[40] Republicans generally are quite enthusiastic about their candidate, always.
[41] And I do think there's generally a portion of Democrats that are very enthusiastic or, like, loud.
[42] But there's also a big portion that's just kind of being quiet.
[43] I just hope those people, you can say quiet, but you have to vote.
[44] It's just a numbers game.
[45] I mean, there are more Democrats and Republicans in this country.
[46] If we were required to vote, it would be no question, but there are so many.
[47] Hurdles.
[48] Yes.
[49] So many.
[50] The whole theory of, like, the right treats their.
[51] They don't treat their voters like voters.
[52] They treat them like fans.
[53] Yes, 100%.
[54] In 2016, people were enthusiastic about the first female president.
[55] Like, there was enthusiasm.
[56] But there was also a lot of people who weren't.
[57] But I feel like now with Biden, like, and everything is happening in the war, I'm worried.
[58] Yeah, I'm worried as well.
[59] Anyone who's like, the war, if you think Trump or any Republican would do anything different, or make it so much worse.
[60] Like, you are kidding.
[61] He is going to make it worse.
[62] Yeah.
[63] If you're a Democrat and you're like, oh, I don't like what Biden's doing with the war.
[64] I understand.
[65] But this is a binary choice.
[66] If you must like, I don't like this, which I personally don't.
[67] But it's a lesser of two evils.
[68] Like, this is the way we have to approach it.
[69] I'm not so much worried about the Republican.
[70] I'm worried about Democrats.
[71] I'm worried that Democrats are just going to be like, sit it out.
[72] Exactly.
[73] And there's nothing that Trump could do at this point that would make those people not vote for him.
[74] I mean, he's a thousand at this point.
[75] But Biden, there's a lot that he can do, right?
[76] There's a lot to.
[77] Basically, Trump has very little to lose, unfortunately, and Biden has a lot to lose.
[78] And we'll see.
[79] It's going to be interesting.
[80] But that's why, again, we were focusing on abortion rights and on women's rights.
[81] And I think when you focus on those things.
[82] The issues.
[83] It's a very scary picture if a Republican is in the White House.
[84] It's already.
[85] Yeah.
[86] And he's single -handedly responsible for overtring row.
[87] And he'll keep doing crazier and crazier.
[88] Yeah.
[89] Okay.
[90] Okay, but was it fun?
[91] Yeah, it was, it was.
[92] It was.
[93] I like it.
[94] Yeah, you're in your element.
[95] Yeah, I like being out in the field.
[96] It was so hot.
[97] Oh, 50 people passed out at the Trump Valley.
[98] Oh, my God.
[99] Like, pull down stretchers.
[100] Like, I interviewed the firefighters because they were hot.
[101] And, yeah, it was kind of mayhem.
[102] It was 110.
[103] Oh, they probably weren't drinking their element.
[104] I forgot my element, actually.
[105] And I have been chugging it since.
[106] I've been back.
[107] We must.
[108] Yeah.
[109] Element required.
[110] But yeah, how was your week?
[111] My week was good.
[112] Well, I do think I ate too many chicken burritos from Arawon.
[113] Oh.
[114] I was eating them exclusively.
[115] For how long?
[116] Like two weeks.
[117] Maybe more.
[118] I didn't count.
[119] Maybe just two weeks.
[120] I want to keep eating them every day exclusively.
[121] I love them.
[122] But then I had one dinner that was not Arawan chicken burrito.
[123] and my body, like, could not handle it.
[124] It got so accustomed to only eating Airwant chicken burritos.
[125] It was rejecting itself.
[126] Oh, God.
[127] That's an expensive habit.
[128] I know.
[129] So then I thought, oh, shit.
[130] And my pee was smelling kind of weird.
[131] Like chicken burrito?
[132] Like chicken burrito pee?
[133] It wasn't chicken burrito pee, but I was like, huh, I wonder if I need to just, like, add a little bit more variety back into my diet.
[134] Based on your pee I don't think I've ever eaten something that's changed my pee.
[135] That's like...
[136] Oh, no, that's a real...
[137] Okay.
[138] That's very real.
[139] You can eat certain foods that will change.
[140] Also, just your whole vaginal pH.
[141] For sure.
[142] That I know.
[143] Lemon, obviously, it's very good.
[144] Asparagus.
[145] Asparagus is bad.
[146] Well, it's not bad.
[147] It's good.
[148] Yeah.
[149] Have you never done that?
[150] I don't think I, like, assess my pee.
[151] Oh, my God.
[152] Asparagus pee is very specific.
[153] Okay.
[154] Maybe you just don't eat it very much.
[155] I kind of do.
[156] I eat a lot of green vegetables.
[157] Is it all the green ones?
[158] No, it's asparagus specifically.
[159] Interesting.
[160] Sparagus pee, it's very common.
[161] Maybe we didn't get it in Canada.
[162] It's like periods in the water.
[163] No, I think more people definitely know about asparagus pee.
[164] Maybe you should try it tonight.
[165] Eat some and then see if you smell it.
[166] It's very, very distinct.
[167] Okay, got it.
[168] I wonder though if it's also kind of like cilantro where some people don't have it.
[169] But I'm pretty sure.
[170] It's something in the asparagus that causes a smell.
[171] Anywho, I'm adding some diversity back in to my diet that's on the docket.
[172] Did you hear about Aeroon's sunscreen smoothie?
[173] Ew.
[174] I saw it last night.
[175] What is it?
[176] I would have sent it to you.
[177] I didn't know you were on an Aeroon.
[178] Okay, so it's Aeroon's new sunscreen -inspired smoothie by classic.
[179] It's like a brand.
[180] Is it vacation brand?
[181] Yes.
[182] Oh, my God.
[183] Vacation brand smoothie.
[184] First of all, I love that brand.
[185] I do too.
[186] And we just interviewed for Armature Anonymous, someone who works for that brand.
[187] Okay.
[188] Which is so weird.
[189] Weird.
[190] There's been some sim glitches lately.
[191] That is one.
[192] My friend Molly, she has a very distinct face.
[193] She's beautiful.
[194] She has like this gorgeous face.
[195] And a couple weeks ago, Jess and I saw a woman at Eleni.
[196] Shout out Eleni Oyster Bar.
[197] And she looked just like Molly.
[198] Like, she had the exact same face.
[199] And I first noticed it because she's half Ecuadorian.
[200] And so she has like a beautiful skin color as well.
[201] And I saw this woman and I asked Jess, is that the same color of Molly's skin or is it a little lighter or darker?
[202] And he was like, whoa, her face also looks exactly like her.
[203] And he was like, yeah, weird.
[204] But she had like sort of this gray streak in her hair.
[205] She was really cool looking.
[206] Gray streak is like, bucket list.
[207] I hope one day to be cool enough.
[208] And I was like, whoa, this is so weird.
[209] weird.
[210] She looks just like her.
[211] And then I told Molly, it was like, oh, my God, we found your like doppelganger or your twin or something.
[212] And then yesterday was with Jess again at Spina.
[213] We tried Spina.
[214] Yeah.
[215] This really good Italian restaurant in Glendale.
[216] And I looked through the window and there's another Molly.
[217] Yes.
[218] I was like, I think that's that girl from L &E.
[219] But then there was no gray streak.
[220] And so it was a different Molly.
[221] So it's evidence that there's just like this cookie cutter that the Sim, the Sim is just making like replications and then making small changes, like adding a gray streak, long hair, big boobs, small, tiny adjustments, but it's the same.
[222] Yeah, to see if you're aware.
[223] I think it's an accident.
[224] Oh, it's an accident.
[225] Yeah.
[226] Okay, that makes sense.
[227] Yep.
[228] So it was trying to do mall?
[229] Like, well, I wasn't supposed to see that person.
[230] I wasn't supposed to see three Mollies.
[231] Whoa.
[232] That was a glit.
[233] Sure.
[234] Eric says if we pay too much attention to the glitches, they're going to unplug the sim.
[235] So it's like a little scary.
[236] The fact that we're talking about it, the sim's going to be like embarrassed.
[237] And then like unplug.
[238] Right.
[239] Like we're getting on to it too much.
[240] I know.
[241] I can't help but be aware.
[242] And then talk.
[243] Well, do you think that it's a thing where now because you're like seeing Molly everywhere, you're going to see her everywhere?
[244] Well, I hope not.
[245] I mean, I love her face, but it's unsettling to see it everywhere.
[246] Maybe it was the girl and she dyed her hair.
[247] and grow it out really long.
[248] That's possible.
[249] Or she's wearing a wig.
[250] Or it's Molly.
[251] Just fucking with you.
[252] I know.
[253] It could be.
[254] Okay, I'm sorry.
[255] Back to heroin sunscreen smoothie.
[256] What's in it?
[257] Good question.
[258] Let's see.
[259] I was on Instagram.
[260] L .A. Meg.
[261] I'm guessing it's like a peanut calotta kind of situation.
[262] Coconut base.
[263] Creamy tropical flavor.
[264] Sea salt, blues.
[265] Berylina.
[266] Sure.
[267] Are you interested in trying it?
[268] I think I have to.
[269] Okay.
[270] Right.
[271] I'm not so into their, like, collab smoothies.
[272] Yeah.
[273] Even though I think it's cool.
[274] And if they want to collab, I'm a veil.
[275] Wait, what would be your smoothie?
[276] Ooh.
[277] Probably something chocolate because I'm brown.
[278] That makes sense.
[279] That's all I have.
[280] They don't have a chocolate one.
[281] Yeah, which is crazy.
[282] I mean, they have, but.
[283] Not a collab.
[284] Not a collab.
[285] So they could.
[286] The chocolate ones are always the best ones.
[287] Maybe I could do, like, a mint chocolatey one.
[288] That would be good.
[289] With actual peppermint, like tea, peppermint tea.
[290] Oh, you love tea.
[291] I love tea.
[292] Yeah.
[293] Mixed with cacao.
[294] Probably some sort of protein, maybe like a little almond butter in there.
[295] I don't want to give this way for free, but there's going to be other pieces to this.
[296] And Arawon, if you're listening, I'm here for you.
[297] Does Aerewan just exist in L .A.?
[298] I think so.
[299] Wow.
[300] Why aren't they branching out?
[301] I don't know, but it's kind of a good move because when people come here, they want to go.
[302] It's like a tourist attraction at this point.
[303] I was just looking, speaking of that, I was on Emily Sundberg.
[304] She has a popular substack called Feed Me. And she wrote something about C .O. Bigelow in New York, the pharmacy.
[305] And I have had those like Rose Salves and the little things from C .O. Bigelow.
[306] I have no idea what you're talking about.
[307] Oh, okay.
[308] What is it?
[309] C .O. Bigelow.
[310] I thought you would know because you're a New Yorker.
[311] It's like C. Period.
[312] O. Period.
[313] Period.
[314] Bigelow.
[315] It's a brand.
[316] It's a pharmacy.
[317] But they also have their own brand.
[318] So they have this like Rose South that was really popular.
[319] I think it maybe is still really popular.
[320] But you can kind of use it anywhere on your lips or anything.
[321] And it's like in a little tin.
[322] It's really cute.
[323] But they have other products as well.
[324] I didn't even know that it was a pharmacy.
[325] I thought it was just a brand.
[326] And turns out it's this pharmacy in New York.
[327] And it's really cool.
[328] And they have all these cool products.
[329] And they have makeup and hair.
[330] And you can order some stuff online, but not ever.
[331] everything.
[332] And it's really smart because now I'm like, when am I going to New York next?
[333] I have to plan a trip so I can go to C .O. Bigelow.
[334] I've never heard of this place.
[335] I know.
[336] I'm shocked.
[337] Whoa.
[338] Wait, I want to Google and see like the logo.
[339] I think you'd recognize the logo bigelow.
[340] Oh, they've sold some of the products other places.
[341] I think they used to sell it at Bath and Body Boat.
[342] The little rose salve, which is maybe when I first tried it.
[343] When I do images, it just pulls out do Spigolo, Mel Gigolo.
[344] Oh, that's different.
[345] Are you spelling it right?
[346] B -I -G -A -L -O -E.
[347] Oh, E. Oh, I was writing Bigelow.
[348] With a W at the end, too.
[349] Bigelow.
[350] It'll self -correct.
[351] Oh, I know this brand.
[352] Okay, yeah.
[353] It's like in hotels and stuff.
[354] But it's a pharmacy.
[355] Okay, I didn't know it was like a big deal.
[356] Yeah.
[357] So now I got to go.
[358] Okay, well, let's go to New York.
[359] Go to New York.
[360] Go to the pharmacy.
[361] Go to Crocod Deal.
[362] Yeah, for real.
[363] Oh, for real.
[364] That rhymes.
[365] Airwine is sort of the CEO Bigelow of L. If you can only get the Haley Bieber smoothie in L .A. Like, people are going to come get it.
[366] Unless, do you think people, oh, man, I wish you would ask at the Trump rally.
[367] About Arawan?
[368] About Arawan, about Haley Bieber.
[369] Do they know as much as we do about, okay, do they know about the Haley Bieber smoothie in Middle America?
[370] That's a great question.
[371] Middle America is an offensive term.
[372] I'm not going to say that.
[373] Fly over state.
[374] Much better.
[375] You know what I mean?
[376] I do.
[377] If we pulled America, how many people know about the Haley Bieber smoothie?
[378] I would say 50 -50.
[379] I think a lot of people do now because of TikTok and stuff.
[380] That's the thing.
[381] I feel like I know it because I'm online.
[382] Who knows Haley Bieber, period?
[383] 70 -30, I think.
[384] Because of Beaver.
[385] Because of Justin Bieber.
[386] 95 % of people know Justin Bieber.
[387] Wait, I saw this video.
[388] I can't remember.
[389] It was like finding people who don't know who Trump is and like just talking about.
[390] I wish.
[391] I know.
[392] It'd be kind of interesting.
[393] Actually, I was on another phone day.
[394] date last night.
[395] And the guy was like, I was on a date with a woman.
[396] It's great.
[397] But she didn't know that there was an election this year.
[398] And that was a deal breaker.
[399] Would that be a deal breaker for you?
[400] Hmm.
[401] That's tough.
[402] How hot would they have to be?
[403] Oh my God.
[404] Pin in that.
[405] I guess I would be interested to know more.
[406] Like, whoa, how?
[407] Where do you live?
[408] What do you do?
[409] Are you actively?
[410] trying to like be totally removed because then that's kind of could be interesting but if you're just an accountant who doesn't know no yeah it's weird it's weird I think it's almost like you have to really try personally I don't think anyone's hot enough to not know that there's an election although what is going okay are the Olympics happening or not yes why are you saying it like that Because I have seen zero about the fucking Olympics.
[411] It's summer and it's the summer Olympics.
[412] Like, what's going on?
[413] Why haven't we seen anything?
[414] I have not seen any videos of training, of promos.
[415] Notoriously, I cry at Olympic promos.
[416] I haven't cried once.
[417] Wow.
[418] Because I haven't seen anything.
[419] Then I was like, is it getting skipped?
[420] Like, where is it?
[421] Paris, July, 26.
[422] I know it's in Paris.
[423] That was a mini -crime.
[424] crossword clue, and I got it because I know that.
[425] But where is it in the world?
[426] I'm saying, like, why isn't anyone talking about it?
[427] Do you think it's because we're not watching TV and we're not getting ads?
[428] Why isn't it on social media?
[429] You're right.
[430] It's weird.
[431] I wonder if it's like the war stuff.
[432] Right.
[433] I wonder if it's getting overshadowed by the war in the election.
[434] And there was this really bad election.
[435] The European Union voted and like, worse than Trump, I think, like Marin Le Pen, this super right wing party is going to win in France.
[436] This might come out of a week, so it won't be relevant.
[437] But they did very well in the European Parliament election.
[438] And so now they're going to have a French election and she's probably going to win.
[439] So there's just like a lot of stuff going on.
[440] But to your point, I think this could maybe bring people together.
[441] We could use an Olympic event.
[442] This year could really use an Olympic event.
[443] It really could.
[444] I think you should do something for the Olympics.
[445] I think you should call them up.
[446] And I can be their hype man. Yeah.
[447] I mean, you should do gymnastics cover.
[448] Like, are you going to do stuff?
[449] I would love it.
[450] You should watch and do.
[451] live coverage?
[452] Well, I guess maybe.
[453] I don't know.
[454] I don't know if I have time.
[455] Be the change you want to see in the world.
[456] Like, be the Paris Olympics.
[457] Well, that's, once it starts.
[458] We need to get people excited about it.
[459] That's what we're doing now.
[460] That's what this is about.
[461] Our show is now about the Paris Olympics.
[462] Oh my God.
[463] We should do a segment each week leading up to the Olympics, getting people hyped up.
[464] I like that.
[465] We're definitely going to do that.
[466] I'm going to do an air -on smoothie.
[467] The Olympics should have a smoothie.
[468] Exactly.
[469] If sunscreen can have a smoothie, why can't the Olympics?
[470] I mean, oh my God.
[471] They need a new marketing team, the Olympics.
[472] They do.
[473] Yeah, some things run amok.
[474] Oh, God.
[475] Okay.
[476] Also, no, I won't say that's like bad.
[477] But I wish it was more available.
[478] I mean, it's on Peacock, I guess, because NBC.
[479] I think that's partly why, honestly.
[480] I know.
[481] I think that's what's going on.
[482] How can you watch it?
[483] I need to talk to them.
[484] I gotta get in there Do you have like a vibe of If you were an Olympic athlete Which one would you be?
[485] That's a great question I think you should tell me what I am I think you would be a runner Oh I love that I do run a lot That's cool I want to say gymnastics Because I know how important it is to you Magnificin 7 Magnificent 7 But that's too obvious But I do see you like doing the thing With the ribbon Oh no Rhythmic gymnastics No shade But that's It's not for me. Not for you.
[486] You're more of a bar girl.
[487] It's just like dancing around.
[488] Exactly.
[489] No. I'm an...
[490] Okay, this is aspirational.
[491] This is, I think, what I want for you.
[492] For myself.
[493] I think this is selfish.
[494] It's like, because then you would do TikToks with me. Oh.
[495] We could do one together.
[496] That would be a rhythmic gymnastics.
[497] Routine.

[559] You'd be a great diver, actually.
[560] Oh, my God.
[561] It's like you've never met me. I know, but now it's not connected to anything about you.
[562] It's your body, and I think just as long as someone catches you when you fall in the water.
[563] Before I get to the water.
[564] Actually, I mean, yes, aerial -wise, because I do have some experience in that, I see what you mean.
[565] But I think my boobs are too big to be a diver.
[566] They push them in.
[567] The baiting suits are intense.
[568] You're almost flat.
[569] Ow, that would hurt.
[570] Yeah, you're right.
[571] Yeah, which sport do you have to have the small.
[572] You're allowed to have big boobs.
[573] Or like it would be helpful.
[574] Never helpful for any sport, I don't think.
[575] For the most part in sports, you kind of have to like strap them down.
[576] Wait, what about floating?
[577] Does it help you float?
[578] Couldn't you be a really good?
[579] Floater?
[580] Floater.
[581] Like water polo?
[582] You'd be good.
[583] Does it help you float?
[584] I don't, I don't think so.
[585] For sure.
[586] It's pockets of...
[587] But it's fat.
[588] Oh, I guess.
[589] And memory glance.
[590] It's definitely not air.
[591] Although there's different densities.
[592] Some women have denser boobs than others.
[593] Are yours dense?
[594] I don't know.
[595] I think maybe.
[596] Well, how do we know?
[597] Have you touched other boobs?
[598] No. But I've seen other boobs.
[599] I mean, I assume mine are probably similar to my moms.
[600] Does it get passed down?
[601] Of course.
[602] That's crazy because my mom has giant boobs And me and my sister have no boobs I don't think it's genetic Maybe there's, okay, Google that We do need to know if Boob size is genetic Breast size Because let's try to get some science My mom I have bigger boobs than her But she has good size boobs And I think my grandmother as well And what about butt?
[603] Because me and my sister both have good butts No boobs And I'm like, did we get that from my dad?
[604] Like could have got more of your body We got the boobs and the butt From your dad Without a doubt, genetics form the cornerstone of breast size determination.
[605] But, like, expand on that.
[606] Our familiar lineage, blueprints, many aspects of her physical form, including breast size.
[607] You'll likely manifest this trait if you've inherited genes for excessively large breasts.
[608] What the hell?
[609] But it is two people.
[610] So, I mean, maybe you probably got more of your dad's body.
[611] Or my dad's boob jeans.
[612] Boob jeans, yeah.
[613] But I also think generally speaking, there's like body type.
[614] Like, you, you often, like, match a parent's body type or parts.
[615] Like, have you ever looked at a part of yourself and been like, I am looking at my dad's blank, dick?
[616] No, I'm kidding.
[617] But my legs are very similar to my dad's.
[618] Okay.
[619] And sometimes I look at them and I'm like, wow.
[620] I 100 % got that from him.
[621] I have the same thing with my dad.
[622] We have a bump on our shoulders.
[623] older.
[624] I have an extra bone.
[625] Like a sit.
[626] Oh, a bone.
[627] It just sticks out.
[628] My sister has it.
[629] My dad has it.
[630] And I have to check if Mila has it, actually.
[631] My niece, but we call that the plank bone.
[632] Oh, that's cool.
[633] And sometimes throughout time, me and my sister looks so much like my dad.
[634] But my sister, as she's aged, now starts looking like a lot like my mom when she was her age.
[635] They both have like the cheekbones.
[636] And it's interesting how you can, you know, your face changes.
[637] Yes, for sure.
[638] Okay.
[639] The pin about being hot.
[640] Yes.
[641] Yes.
[642] Okay.
[643] Great.
[644] I watched challengers this weekend.
[645] How was it?
[646] Have you seen it yet?
[647] I wanted to go see it.
[648] Remember we were, I bet Len I was like she's seen it.
[649] We were going to go see it a long time ago.
[650] Then I rented it this weekend.
[651] Yeah.
[652] And oh my God, it's so hot.
[653] I've heard it's like a sexy movie.
[654] Before it came out, I heard it looks so hot, right?
[655] It was like so sexy.
[656] I was excited about it.
[657] Then when it came out, I heard mixed things.
[658] And so then I lowered my expectations and I was kind of like, I'm even know if I want to see this.
[659] But then I had time on Saturday.
[660] So I rented it.
[661] Oh, my God.
[662] I thought it was so hot.
[663] Magnificent seven.
[664] Oh, the boys are so hot in that movie.
[665] And back to a couple weeks ago, or maybe it was last week when we were talking about rodent boyfriends, which I really, that's the last time I'm going to say that phrase because I don't like it.
[666] I think it's very rude.
[667] To brats or to men?
[668] To men.
[669] Like, who wants to, if they said rodent girlfriend, And I personally would not find that flattering.
[670] I can't speak for everyone.
[671] But I see what people mean.
[672] And I am doubling down, that is my type.
[673] Oh.
[674] I find it's that look so hard.
[675] Tell me more about the look.
[676] I mean, it's sort of how you described it.
[677] It's not cookie cutter pretty.
[678] Yeah.
[679] But, yeah, I find it so attractive.
[680] And then I watched the Italian movie that I've been trying to watch for also months, La Chimera.
[681] I rented that as well.
[682] And that has Josh O 'Connor, the brunette guy in Challengers.
[683] So I had like a whole Josh O 'Connor evening.
[684] Oh, interesting.
[685] He's so hot.
[686] Okay.
[687] And you know, he also plays Prince Charles in the crown, the young Prince Charles, which I need to Google him.
[688] I didn't realize until I was told.
[689] But anyway, so I had a whole Josh O 'Connor evening.
[690] It was all extremely hot.
[691] La Cimera's incredible.
[692] It's such a good movie.
[693] It's very odd.
[694] It's very Italian.
[695] It's artsy.
[696] But it's beautiful and about death and longing and lovely.
[697] I recommend Lagamara and challengers.
[698] Were you surprised by how attracted you were to this type?
[699] Or were you like, oh, that's always been my type?
[700] Yeah.
[701] I think I'm like, yeah, duh.
[702] That's your type.
[703] Wow.
[704] Oh, that's not my type at all.
[705] Oh, he's so charismatic.
[706] He's so hot.
[707] I think my type is upon first glance, You might just be like, oh, yeah, that's a nice -looking person, whatever.
[708] You're not thinking twice, really.
[709] But there's so much personality infused.
[710] You build a charisma.
[711] They both were very charismatic, but he especially really hot.
[712] And then it led me to ask a bunch of my friends if they'd ever had threesomes.
[713] Okay.
[714] And pretty much no one had.
[715] Wow.
[716] Yeah, which I was kind of surprised.
[717] But have you had them?
[718] I've never had one.
[719] And it's so off -brand for me. I really want to, so I have a friend of mine that laughs on me all the time because I've been in a lot of situations where he was like, that was a threesome.
[720] You left the room, but that was a threesome.
[721] Yeah, and I didn't get the memo.
[722] So I think there's a certain kind of vibe that I don't pick up on.
[723] I've basically missed out on a lot of threesomes that I could have been a part of.
[724] Okay.
[725] Now, in the threesome world, in the zone, in the zone.
[726] Because when I was watching this, I mean, it was just a threesome makeout.
[727] It wasn't a crazy sex scene or anything.
[728] But it was hot.
[729] And I did think, like, I should probably do that before I die.
[730] That seems like something I want to do.
[731] But it's so specific.
[732] Like, I only want to do it if it's two guys and me. Oh.
[733] And they're just both really into me. Yes, that's the ideal.
[734] Yeah.
[735] So you have to, like, plan it so specifically.
[736] I think you could find that in a second.
[737] I don't think that's good to be hard for you.
[738] Maybe.
[739] I'm not soliciting, I'm just for, just for our listeners.
[740] This isn't like, I'm not putting this out there.
[741] I mean, put it out in the universe.
[742] I am putting it out in the universe.
[743] I think I want to like know them.
[744] No, no, no. I don't want to know them.
[745] I don't want to.
[746] I don't want to.
[747] Exactly.
[748] Like, I definitely don't want to do that.
[749] Then I was talking about this, I, you know, started talking about it with friends.
[750] And people had different opinions of who they would want to be.
[751] Right.
[752] In the threesome.
[753] A lot of people want to come in.
[754] to a couple, which I found interesting.
[755] That's not for me. Would you rather be the couple?
[756] If I had to pick between those two, I'd rather probably be in the couple.
[757] But I don't want to be in a couple.
[758] I want it to be all singles.
[759] Like, this has to happen before there's a relationship.
[760] All singles and those two single men are attracted to me. Yeah.
[761] And they're not doing stuff to each other.
[762] They might do a little.
[763] They kissed a little bit in the movie and it was high.
[764] Okay, okay, okay, you have to watch it.
[765] It was one big mix.
[766] Like they're all making out at once at one point, which was kind of interesting.
[767] And then she's sort of manipulative in this movie.
[768] She's a very interesting character.
[769] But so they're all making, like, they're kissing her.
[770] And then she sort of like backs away so that they end up just kissing each other.
[771] So who do you want to be if you could design it?
[772] So I have a lot of different roles that I've thought about.
[773] So I would love to coming to a couple because it's the best case scenario.
[774] You're just like, they're like so happy to see you.
[775] You're just there for the night.
[776] And then you leave and you don't deal with any of the emotional stuff.
[777] You're just this fun little treat.
[778] I would love that.
[779] And I also have a weird, I have this fear of being cheated on and also a fantasy of cheating.
[780] Do you think they're related?
[781] Maybe.
[782] Because of the fear.
[783] You know, like, why we like horror movies.
[784] Right.
[785] Because, like, we're scared, but we kind of want to live that out in a way and in a way that you have control over.
[786] Yes.
[787] Oh, that's a good idea.
[788] Okay, that's probably it.
[789] Because in the fantasy, it's happening, but I'm like in control.
[790] It's not happening to you.
[791] Exactly.
[792] I'm doing it.
[793] Oh, that's interesting.
[794] Okay, you help resolve that for me. So I have that too, but I don't have a preference in terms of the genders.
[795] I think I would just be excited.
[796] Whatever's happening.
[797] But I like the idea.
[798] I do think there's something very luxurious and like, I don't know, pleasurable, indulgent about like two servants.
[799] I know.
[800] That's how it felt in the movie.
[801] Like, they're just obsessed with her.
[802] And I wouldn't love that practically, but sexually, that would be fun.
[803] Yes.
[804] Practically, it would be annoying.
[805] I mean, would you take...
[806] Well, it ends up getting very complicated as it would be.
[807] Yes.
[808] But I think it's a thing where I think I haven't been...
[809] We have to be open to it.
[810] That's all.
[811] Well, that's true.
[812] I would probably have to be fairly, like...
[813] Plan it out?
[814] Kind of, because I'm not open.
[815] I'm not thinking about that ever in life.
[816] I'm not thinking about sex at all in life walking through it, generally, unless something exciting happens.
[817] So, I don't know.
[818] They'd have to be so hot.
[819] It would just be for sex.
[820] Like, that's obviously, that's the only purpose of a threesome.
[821] It's not for falling in love.
[822] That seems so complex.
[823] That's exactly what I don't want is emotions, because then the whole thing gets fucked up.
[824] Yeah.
[825] I think what feels stressful about being the couple and bringing someone in is that you have no idea.
[826] And I think that's my fear with it, that I might think it's fine and then something happens in there that then means I'm not, and then it like can ruin.
[827] And watching your partner.
[828] I don't know about that.
[829] I'd have to be sure that they really don't.
[830] Let's say we're bringing in a woman that her personality is not good.
[831] Like I have to know there's no way they're going to get along beyond this.
[832] For me, I just want it to be two guys.
[833] Always.
[834] Okay, so you're not interested in the other way around.
[835] There's no world where, like, that would happen.
[836] What?
[837] Where there's another woman and a guy.
[838] I mean, it might be probably not because the point to entry for me doing this in general is like, hot guys.
[839] Well, no, it's just high.
[840] Like I, it's going to be hard enough for me to find myself in this situation to begin with.
[841] And if I'm already like, eh, then I'm definitely not.
[842] Since I feel eh about it being two girls, that's not going to happen.
[843] Okay, got it, got it, got it.
[844] Right?
[845] You know what I mean?
[846] Yeah.
[847] And you've never seen a woman that you're like, oh, she's like, like, you're really like on this Kinsey scale like a zero.
[848] Well, I don't know if I'm a zero.
[849] I mean, I definitely think women are pretty, but yeah, I don't.
[850] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[851] Not interested.
[852] Yeah.
[853] But also mixed in with that is I don't want to feel like I'm competing.
[854] And if it's two women, I don't think you can help but do that.
[855] I think men, they might have that sense of competition, but they also like have big egos and I feel like they could get over it, especially if they're strangers.
[856] Sure.
[857] Do you think that guys fantasize about that or is that just like a pure female fantasy?
[858] Because like guys fantasize about, I think, three sums with two women.
[859] Of course.
[860] Yeah.
[861] But that one of like two guys just like, no. Straight men probably don't fantasize about that.
[862] But I think they do it.
[863] I don't think they're like ooh, I would never.
[864] I think that's still because it's like a heightened sexual experience, I think they do it.
[865] Do you know anyone who's had one?
[866] A threesome?
[867] Should we call them?
[868] Well, Jess has.
[869] I asked him.
[870] He was like, yeah, I've had a lot.
[871] My friend just had one at Burning Man. How was the genders?
[872] It was the couple and her and it was like during the whole mud situation too, so it was high stakes.
[873] Oh, they thought they were going to die.
[874] Yes, which made even better.
[875] And then she just was like hanging out with them and then they ended up back at their camp or tent or whatever.
[876] And then it just kind of happened.
[877] Yeah.
[878] Did she like it?
[879] Yes.
[880] She did.
[881] Interesting.
[882] Yeah.
[883] I mean, do we have a question?
[884] Not really.
[885] We just going to call them up and be like, I yeah, probably, I don't want to put anyone on the spot either.
[886] Also, there's like no, there is no question.
[887] It's just like, oh, wow.
[888] Anyhow, so that was my hot pin.
[889] I love it.
[890] It was fun.
[891] I definitely recommend the movie.
[892] I think Lockheamera is a better movie, probably.
[893] But Challenges was hot.
[894] I think it's good to watch.
[895] I'll watch it.
[896] I started a couple's therapy, the new season.
[897] Oh, my God.
[898] Oh, speaking on.
[899] of.
[900] Well, not really, but they have a polycule.
[901] Exactly.
[902] That's what it made me think of.
[903] But that's not a threesome.
[904] We have to be clear.
[905] Orna told us that when she was here.
[906] They're not a thruple.
[907] Right.
[908] Because they're not all together.
[909] Do you think, okay, so if you have a wedding invite and you get a plus one, but you're in a trouble.
[910] Oh.
[911] Or a polycule.
[912] Are you entitled to a plus two?
[913] Or is that like, no. No. Definitely not.
[914] But that's an interesting question.
[915] the polycule is different because the three aren't hanging.
[916] I mean, sometimes they are hanging out, but that's not the point of the relationship.
[917] The point is these two are a couple and then separately, these two are.
[918] Yeah.
[919] But a thruple, that's different.
[920] And if you're, what would you do if, yeah, I feel like if I was in a trouble and my friend was like, here's a plus one, I'd be like, are you really my friend?
[921] No, it's hard enough to even invite, have a plus one.
[922] Each individual person at a wedding costs so much money for the people throwing the wedding.
[923] It's expensive.
[924] But I think it should be no plus one or making you choose which partner you're going to bring.
[925] I mean, that's a tough combo.
[926] I guess if I was in a thruple and I was invited to a wedding, I had a plus one, I would tell my boyfriends, they would have to decide.
[927] Wait, I kind of love this for you.
[928] You should have two boyfriends.
[929] Have you ever thought about that?
[930] No. I don't even have one boyfriend.
[931] How can I possibly have two?
[932] I think you should entertain it.
[933] That just sounded right to me. It just sounded correct.
[934] My boyfriends.
[935] Well, it probably sounded correct because I talk about Ben and Matt as being my boyfriend.
[936] But no, it felt right on a visceral level.
[937] Anyway, just something to think about it.
[938] Well, who knows where this life will take me. But I would put it in their hands.
[939] I would say you two, I have a plus one.
[940] You two decide if you both don't want to come, I'll invite Jess.
[941] There we go.
[942] Sounds like a fun plus one.
[943] I know.
[944] He's the best plus one.
[945] Yeah.
[946] I thought about that after we went to Carlsbad that I thought was Palm Springs on our little 24 -hour adventure, Jess and I. I was like, man, well, this is so funny because the first thought I had when I was going and I was like, I don't want to go.
[947] And it was before he had offered to go.
[948] We talked about this here.
[949] I was like, this is why people have partners so they can just like have a buddy all the time.
[950] And then Jess came and it was incredible and it was so fun.
[951] And then we left.
[952] And then I was like, oh, my God.
[953] If I had a partner, like, I wouldn't have brought Jess.
[954] And that sucks.
[955] And then what happens if I do have a boyfriend or boyfriends?
[956] They're just going to have to be fine with Jess coming to everything.
[957] I think that's normal.
[958] Also, there's plenty of, I mean, it was on a weekday.
[959] Your boyfriends might be working.
[960] It would have been totally fine for you to, not fine, but like, even great, right?
[961] That you bring Jess.
[962] You don't have to bring your boyfriends everywhere.
[963] My boyfriends might get, I don't know how they're going to feel.
[964] They could get mad.
[965] because I might be like, well, Jess is coming to everything.
[966] Oh, because you prefer.
[967] But you're comparing.
[968] Oh, I don't know who they are.
[969] Yeah, exactly.
[970] I just mean Jess is a staple.
[971] And, like, I'm not going to not have him around or, like, go to dinner with him a lot or, like, go do things with him.
[972] My boyfriends can come, too, but that's going to be part of the package a little bit.
[973] That's great.
[974] I think that's normal.
[975] You shouldn't stop hanging out with your friends just because you have two boyfriends.
[976] I'm going to be so busy.
[977] You're going to be busy.
[978] That is the thing.
[979] Yeah.
[980] There's a lot of people.
[981] in this scenario.
[982] If you had two boyfriends, would you want to be all living together or are they separate?
[983] And do they have other girlfriends?
[984] No. In this case, no. I don't like that.
[985] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[986] I think we all live together.
[987] I see it.
[988] I don't see it.
[989] I mean, I, like, this is so not.
[990] It's not for me. In couples therapy, even the polycule, which is not a thruple, seems so complicated and hard.
[991] And spoiler, he's sitting there.
[992] with the two of them, and he has his hands on both of them.
[993] And, like, sometimes in the middle will, like, kiss one of them.
[994] And I'm like, what?
[995] Like, I mean, I'm old and, I guess, really conservative.
[996] It's just hard for me to imagine feeling open in that situation.
[997] You have to talk so much.
[998] Already being in a relationship, you're talking all the time about your relationship.
[999] I mean, good and bad, but, like, double that.
[1000] That's so exhausting.
[1001] And you're talking about the other relationship with the other relationship.
[1002] It's a lot of talking.
[1003] I commend people who can do it.
[1004] Me too.

[1025] And I've been doing it outside every day.
[1026] And I love running outside.
[1027] That's definitely my preferred method over like a piece of equipment.
[1028] But I do notice that I come in and I'm just so congested.
[1029] I'm just like really congested.

[1042] All right.
[1043] Well, let's do some questions.
[1044] Okay.
[1045] Oh, this is good.
[1046] Okay.
[1047] This is from Anonymous.
[1048] My husband is calling his mom mommy, and it's giving me the ick.
[1049] Hey, Liz and Monica, my husband and I just moved in with my in -laws, and we've got one little girl and another one on the way.
[1050] We've been figuring out the new dynamic.
[1051] It's honestly been so nice to be with them, and I've always gotten along great with his parents.
[1052] As we've been trying to establish boundaries with our daughter, my husband has gone back and forth between calling me mom with her and referring to his mom as mom instead of grandma.
[1053] I get that it's probably confusing for his brain since she is his mom, and that's what he calls her.
[1054] However, he started to call both me and his mother, mommy, occasionally to our toddler, and now it's happening more often that he calls his mom mommy when he's talking to me about his mom.
[1055] It's not the end of the world, and I could probably just point it out in a joking way, and he'd stop.
[1056] But it gives me such an ick to hear this 30 -year -old man call his mother mommy and be so casual about it.
[1057] How do you guys think I should go about bringing it up?
[1058] I don't want to cause ripples or make him feel dumb, but it's so weird to hear him call her that.
[1059] Can't wait to hear your thoughts and what the Sinked Squad has to say.
[1060] I get it.
[1061] That would ick me out.
[1062] But because it's new, I think you could call it out.
[1063] If it's an old thing, then I think you just have to kind of be like, this is weird, but this is what their relationship is.
[1064] But since it's new, I think you could just be like, do you notice you've been calling your mom mommy a lot?
[1065] I would just say it like that.
[1066] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[1067] I hope everyone can laugh at it.
[1068] Who knows where that'll go?
[1069] He might be like, yeah, is that a problem?
[1070] You know, who knows?
[1071] Yeah.
[1072] But I would just straight up say it.
[1073] Same.
[1074] And I think you're so right, do it early.
[1075] Yeah.
[1076] Because what's hard is that if you suppress it and then it goes on and on and on, then he'll be embarrassed.
[1077] He said it for that long.
[1078] Cut it early.
[1079] What about daddy?
[1080] Oh, God.
[1081] Is Daddy less bad than Mommy?
[1082] I think it's less bad, but that's because we're women.
[1083] And that's probably unfair.
[1084] It's not less bad.
[1085] Really?
[1086] Yeah, it sounds just as gross to me. Oh, wow.
[1087] I call my dad.
[1088] I still call my daddy.
[1089] Is that bad?
[1090] It's not bad.
[1091] But see, I don't say mommy.
[1092] To me, Daddy is like, Daddy, it's like a fun, playful.
[1093] And with my mom, I don't say mommy.
[1094] Like, that's so, I don't know, it has a connotation of, like, being a baby.
[1095] Right.
[1096] I mean, they both have connotation.
[1097] Yeah, they each have, like, also weird sexual.
[1098] Edipole stuff.
[1099] Yes.
[1100] But none of us are having sex with our parents.
[1101] It's fine.
[1102] But I would have to say something.
[1103] Okay, what if you were dating someone and then they said, Liz, you call your dad daddy?
[1104] Would you feel embarrassed?
[1105] I would.
[1106] But then I would be like, oh, it would make me a little sad that I had to give that up.
[1107] Yeah, it feels in a way of like, there's like a deep meaning to it.
[1108] I think of like, oh, I'm still a kid.
[1109] And somehow if I'm old now, then that means my dad's going to die.
[1110] It goes real quick.
[1111] Yeah.
[1112] Yeah, to like, oh, you're, but do you have, okay, cat from like the age of literally, like, the first grade called her parents by their first name.
[1113] No, that's insane.
[1114] So where to God.
[1115] When she was little, little, she still does that.
[1116] Of course.
[1117] But like, when we were little, it was never mom and dad.
[1118] It was like, I know people who called their parents by their first name when they're talking about them.
[1119] And it's a little bit in jest, but I don't know anyone who calls their parents by their first name to them.
[1120] Yeah.
[1121] It's funny, right?
[1122] very funny.
[1123] If my kid did that, I would kill myself.
[1124] That would make me so sad.
[1125] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[1126] We should do a prank to our parents.
[1127] It's our call.
[1128] And just calling, hey, and then film them turning around.
[1129] Because you've seen students have done that with teachers where they prank their teachers by being like, hey, Brandel.
[1130] And then he, like, Mr. Robinson turns around.
[1131] He's like, it's Mr. Yeah.
[1132] Well, that's just disrespectful.
[1133] It is.
[1134] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[1135] Don't you think most parents, well, sentimental parents anyway, probably remember when and their kids stopped calling them daddy or mommy.
[1136] Aww.
[1137] I mean, I think I would remember.
[1138] What do you call your mom?
[1139] Mom.
[1140] Okay, mom and dad.
[1141] Interesting.
[1142] I think that must have happened young, I think.
[1143] Teenager?
[1144] Oh, earlier than that.
[1145] Really?
[1146] I think.
[1147] Oh, my God.
[1148] Probably middle school, maybe like fifth or sixth grade.
[1149] I can't remember the last time I called my dad daddy.
[1150] I really can't.
[1151] But I definitely did.
[1152] It probably coincided with the times that, like, I used to, like, before bed, like, go find my dad and, like, say good night and kiss him good night.
[1153] And then that stopped, too.
[1154] And it probably all happened at, like, the same time.
[1155] What a horrible day for him.
[1156] That's so sad.
[1157] It's part of, I mean, I never stop, though.
[1158] If you start saying dad now to your dad, is he going to be so sad?
[1159] My dad doesn't notice a lot of things, but I think you would notice it.
[1160] But when you talk about your dad, you say, my dad.
[1161] dad.
[1162] I've never heard you say my daddy.
[1163] So my daddy, I mean, that would be weird.
[1164] Do people do that?
[1165] Well, my guess is they do if that's what they're used to calling them.
[1166] Well, that's his name to me, but I'm not like, and probably honestly, no, even when I had boyfriends around, I still will call him dad.
[1167] I was like, I just can't call him in anything else.
[1168] Weirdly what I did when I was around that age, I started calling him poopoo.
[1169] That's weird again.
[1170] And like poops.
[1171] Like, make it short.
[1172] I just called him and he did not like that.
[1173] Of course.
[1174] Who wants to be called poopoo?
[1175] No one wants that.
[1176] French is Papa.
[1177] So I think I just made it fun like poo -poo.
[1178] And he just was like, I don't get it.
[1179] Wait, so did you call him by the French?
[1180] Both.
[1181] You know, because I was speaking English and French.
[1182] And I think there's that too of Mama.
[1183] There's not really a shorthand for that in French.
[1184] There's not like a cooler like dad.
[1185] Well, in England.
[1186] And so then.
[1187] in India, my mom called my grandpa, papa, and then her mom, mummy.
[1188] And that's English.
[1189] But that didn't feel kid -like.
[1190] But remember on the Princess Diana casket, there's like a card from the boys and it says mummy on it, or mom or something?
[1191] I know it's so sad.
[1192] Oh, I guess mum.
[1193] Yeah.
[1194] Anyway, that's really sad.
[1195] But, yeah.
[1196] Okay, so bring it up.
[1197] Bring it up.
[1198] I think you can bring it up.
[1199] Since it's new, he'll want to know.
[1200] But the thing is, if he says, it's really important to me that I call her that, like if you say to your boyfriend, like, it's really important to me that I call him that because he might die if I don't, then you're going to have to be like, okay.
[1201] That's it.
[1202] It seems like it's just a, there's a lot going on.
[1203] Yeah.
[1204] And he didn't notice.
[1205] Feels like it's that kind of situation.
[1206] Okay, how are you going to feel if you have kids with someone and they start referring to you as mom?
[1207] Like, this is common, right?
[1208] Everyone is this.
[1209] That's what my parents do too.
[1210] Yeah, like dad called, mom called, whatever.
[1211] It'll be a weird shift, I think.
[1212] I never thought about what that was like for them.
[1213] Being a kid, you don't think about any of it.
[1214] You're just like.
[1215] There's critical moments where these things shift over.
[1216] I think I would feel, I'm going to feel mixed about it.
[1217] Oh, this is sweet because we're family.
[1218] I'm mom.
[1219] This is dad.
[1220] This is baby.
[1221] But also, you don't want to just become mom to your husband.
[1222] and vice versa.
[1223] I think it does happen, and then it can...
[1224] You want to preserve the relationship, you know?
[1225] Right.
[1226] Rob.
[1227] We don't call each other mom and dad.
[1228] But you would say to Calvin, like, go see mom.
[1229] Yeah.
[1230] It's in the vernacular.
[1231] Yeah.
[1232] Your identity is changing, though, when you have kids, so you're taking on mom and dad.
[1233] So it's kind of natural feeling.
[1234] It's like an additional role, not a replacement.
[1235] Yeah.
[1236] But I think in many dynamics, it is a replacement.
[1237] Yeah.
[1238] And that can get tricky.
[1239] I think.
[1240] For sure.
[1241] And the kids become everything and preserving the relationship is hard.
[1242] Yeah, you know what's funny?
[1243] It's like, I never hear my mom address my dad by his name.
[1244] When she talks about him in public or something, she'll say his name.
[1245] But to him, she like doesn't address him.
[1246] They don't say each other's names.
[1247] My dad does.
[1248] My dad calls her Nimmie.
[1249] He has a nickname for her.
[1250] But she never says like, Ashok.
[1251] I think she just says like, hey.
[1252] Hey.
[1253] If she's like shouting to him, she is just like, hey.
[1254] Really?
[1255] I think so funny.
[1256] It's not great.
[1257] I have very little memories of her saying his name out loud.
[1258] I think also nicknames are fun.
[1259] Like, so my niece, for some reason, I think she would hear me and my sister say daddy.
[1260] And so she started calling my dad Addy.
[1261] Oh, that's cute.
[1262] And so now we all call him Addy.
[1263] It was like a few years into this.
[1264] And we're like, do you mind that you're Addy?
[1265] like Mila would do these placemats or like these like letters and then Adi would be there and we were like do you mind that and he's like no I kind of like that like my own nickname yeah everyone it's like standards but like you have a special one oh that's sweet yeah what does she call your mom me and adie me is like the French version for grandma oh it is I think nicknames are cute I like names a lot I also like nicknames that evolve over time yeah like there's a group of people in my life who call me Mon, and that's indicative of a time.
[1266] And now, like, the pod calls me Moni, which is indicative of a time and a group.
[1267] Like, it's interesting how it bops around.
[1268] And maybe I said this, but, like, once I was dating this person quickly, and they tried to call me Mo, and I was like, nope, that's not going to work for me. Mo is not you.
[1269] It's really not me at all.
[1270] What are yours?
[1271] Elie, well, because...
[1272] Is that your nieces?
[1273] No, that's my nickname.
[1274] Your niece is getting all kinds of nicknames.
[1275] Ily?
[1276] Eli, because it's Elizabeth, and the shorthand is Elie.
[1277] And Ellie.
[1278] People call you Ellie?
[1279] Everyone calls me Ellie.
[1280] Yeah, in Quebec.
[1281] Is it weird to be Liz?
[1282] I think it was weird to them.
[1283] For a while, they were like, hey, Liz.
[1284] Like, it was like a joke.
[1285] Stupid American Liz.
[1286] But at the same time, I chose it.
[1287] Like, I remember there was the first times I went on TV and they were like, what do you want for your car on?
[1288] I think I did a poll with my friends.
[1289] I was like, do I say Elizabeth?
[1290] Plank or do I go by Liz Plank and they were like, Liz Plank is better?
[1291] When was this?
[1292] When I moved to America in like 2013?
[1293] So you've only been Liz since 2013?
[1294] Pretty much.
[1295] I mean, I went to a university in English and there people started, even though I never called myself Liz, they would kind of call me Liz, but I never introduced myself as Liz.
[1296] You would say Elizabeth.
[1297] Elizabeth.
[1298] I mean, maybe by the end of university, so many people were calling me Liz that maybe I started.
[1299] If I was speaking to someone in English, I would say Liz.
[1300] But it really started when I moved.
[1301] It's a new name.
[1302] Kind of.
[1303] Do you feel like you've embodied it?
[1304] I don't know.
[1305] You tell me. I mean, it's hard to know what's like chicken or the egg, but I do not see you as an Elizabeth.
[1306] Actually, me neither.
[1307] Liz feels very accurate.
[1308] So that's great.
[1309] Did you have a nickname growing up?
[1310] Mon.
[1311] But my parents didn't.
[1312] They call me Monica.
[1313] They've always, that's it.
[1314] There was no pet name.
[1315] No pet name.
[1316] Mon happened with my friends.
[1317] And that was very standard.
[1318] Like, they all call me that.
[1319] Still, like Callie and.
[1320] It's funny on the connections chain because it's Callie Max, her husband, Robbie, who's my friend from home as well, and Dax and me. And so Robbie and Callie call me Mon.
[1321] And so like, so they're all saying it and it's funny all in one place.
[1322] I like it though when specifically, because I don't see Robbie all the time.
[1323] He lives in Georgia.
[1324] So when he says it, it's a reminder of like that time and I like it.
[1325] It's such a sweet.
[1326] You're right.
[1327] It sort of harkens back to a time.
[1328] There's like a warm and a specific feeling, right, that is brought up Elizabeth.
[1329] Elizabeth.
[1330] Okay, let's see.
[1331] Okay.
[1332] In -laws gifting my husband a house and explicitly keeping my name off ownership.
[1333] This is from Natasha.
[1334] Hi, Monica and Liz.
[1335] My husband and I have been together for 15 years married for 11.
[1336] We have three children together and own two properties.
[1337] My in -laws are planning on gifting a house to my husband and, explicitly keeping my name off ownership.
[1338] I know the gift is part of distributing their wealth now rather than after their death.
[1339] My issue is not the gift being given to my husband, but rather the sticky situation of me contributing to whatever mortgage is left on the property, unknown to me, ongoing repairs of the property, and my contribution to an asset that ultimately won't belong to me. We are in our late 30s, so we have a long time left to care for this property.
[1340] I also assume this arrangement is being put in place in case my husband and I divorce, which makes me feel icky.
[1341] I have moved internationally to be closer to my husband's family.
[1342] I work full time and make a good wage.
[1343] The situation has really bummed me out.
[1344] What are your thoughts on this?
[1345] Thank you.
[1346] Of course it bums you out.
[1347] That would really bum me out.
[1348] Yeah.
[1349] I'm sure they're just trying to be extremely practical.
[1350] Yeah.
[1351] This is very like lawyerly.
[1352] It's like a pre -up.
[1353] It's the similar thing where emotionally it feels horrible, but practically it's kind of like the smart thing to do.
[1354] I'm sure that's the way the parents are looking at this.
[1355] Like, practically we should just put it in our classroom.
[1356] kid's name, but of course it hurts your feelings.
[1357] And then the contribution part is tricky.
[1358] If you're paying into the mortgage and then it's not technically yours, that's weird.
[1359] Yeah, why are you paying into the mortgage if you don't own it?
[1360] Does it technically matter if they get divorced?
[1361] It's still shared assets, whether it's in her name or not?
[1362] If it's an inheritance, then no. That is probably why.
[1363] They want to make sure that it's his regardless.
[1364] I feel like Inheritance is different.
[1365] It's a little bit like student debt or like, I feel like there are some things that are kind of separate.
[1366] I understand you feel left out, but it feels like that's okay to be separate.
[1367] You think this is different from an inheritance?
[1368] Well, isn't this an inheritance?
[1369] That's what it sounds like.
[1370] I think they are approaching this as an inheritance.
[1371] Yes, exactly.
[1372] As instead of money, again, as she said after they die, it's like we have money now.
[1373] We are going to give our kid.
[1374] But it's hard.
[1375] Maybe there is a conversation with the husband about I feel kind of weird with the husband, not the parents about the contribution piece.
[1376] And I feel kind of weird because this is now fully in your name, yet I am contributing to it.
[1377] What should we do about this?
[1378] Yeah.
[1379] Something feels off and uneven and how do we together make sure I don't feel like that.
[1380] You have to have the conversation.
[1381] And I don't think you should be contributing to something you don't own.
[1382] Right.
[1383] This gets complicated.
[1384] They should have just given him money.
[1385] But they're probably trying to save on, I don't know anything about this, but they're probably safe.
[1386] Because if you take withhold, then you have to pay taxes on it.
[1387] Yeah, exactly.
[1388] Yeah, it's probably a way to like get around that.
[1389] Right.
[1390] Yeah, I would just talk to your husband about it and say you're feeling weird about this.
[1391] Confused, yeah.
[1392] It also depends, like, what are you doing with the house?
[1393] Oh, that's true.
[1394] Like, there might not be living there.
[1395] From what I understand, they're not living there.
[1396] They'd just be owning it and, I guess, running it out and making.
[1397] Oh.
[1398] If you're not living there and it's his house, maybe you do say, I don't know if I don't know if I I should be putting my money towards something that's not ours.
[1399] And I am happy to contribute if it's ours.
[1400] He could put it in both their names.
[1401] Right.
[1402] He could probably change it maybe.
[1403] I don't know.
[1404] This is getting above our pay grade.
[1405] Legally's.
[1406] What do you think about pre -ups?
[1407] I think you need a pre -nup.
[1408] And if you can't get through that with your partner, you probably shouldn't get married.
[1409] My God, I just heard about a pre -up.
[1410] This divorce lawyer, he is a very popular account.
[1411] And he was like the worst pre -up I ever saw.
[1412] And it was enforceable was that the woman lost.
[1413] $10 ,000 per month from her alimony for every 10 pounds that she put on.
[1414] No. And he said it was enforceable and there was nothing we could do because she agreed to it.
[1415] What the fuck?
[1416] So it was like a way for the husband to make sure that she maintains a certain But if it's for alimony, they won't even be together.
[1417] Maybe the threat of it, I don't know, that her allowance would go down.
[1418] Ew.
[1419] I know.
[1420] But she agreed.
[1421] Oh, no. So don't do that.
[1422] Be careful.
[1423] Yeah.
[1424] But no, I think a contract is just good to put things in.
[1425] Again, the amount of times that I've been with someone, I'm like, I'm going to love you for the rest of my life.
[1426] And like, it doesn't happen that way.
[1427] Or even friends or people you're working with.
[1428] There's so many situations that things change.
[1429] Exactly.
[1430] Yeah, you should always have a contract no matter who you're working with.
[1431] And especially if you care about them.
[1432] Yeah.
[1433] Okay.
[1434] Okay.
[1435] Let's see.
[1436] Maybe we could do one more quickie.
[1437] Do we have any quickies?
[1438] These are all.
[1439] Okay.
[1440] Well, the rest of the questions are two, intense for us to take on last minute.
[1441] So we'll probably end it there.
[1442] And then we'll come back to them next week.
[1443] And that's that.
[1444] Hopefully by next week you'll have watched challengers and you can weigh in.
[1445] Okay, great.
[1446] I can't wait.
[1447] Okay, bye.
[1448] Bye.
