Morning Wire XX
[0] Hey, this is Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Vickley with Georgia Howl.
[1] It's Thursday, October 20th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] Liz Truss resigned Thursday as British Prime Minister, ending a stormy 45 -day tenure.
[3] I recognize, though, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party.
[4] I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to notify him that I am resigning as leader of of the Conservative Party.
[5] Some critics, like Nile Gardner, a former aide to Margaret Thatcher, say Truss's short tenure was so short -lived because she failed to fight the left.
[6] She backtracked and U -turned over a series of tax cuts, which in my view, I think, was a huge mistake.
[7] Because once she gave concessions to the left, she gravely weakened her position, undermined her own position, and this has now resulted in her resignation.
[8] President Joe Biden told the press today that the U .S. should have some limits on abortion, but declined to provide specifics on what those limits should be.
[9] Critics say that the White House supported bill to federally protect abortion would actually go further than the Roe framework and potentially legalize abortion through all nine months.
[10] A year -long exploration of Hunter Biden's infamous laptop conducted by the nonprofit Marco Polo has yielded a lengthy report that its authors say, documents 459 violations of state and federal laws and regulations by President Biden's son and business partners.
[11] The group sent a report to each member of Congress and claims the data should be a roadmap for local, state, and federal prosecutors to pursue charges.
[12] This week, during an earnings call, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, predicted that the company best known for its electric vehicles could become one of the most valuable companies in the world, worth more than $4 trillion.
[13] And now I'm of the opinion that we can far exceed Apple's current market cap.
[14] In fact, I see a potential path for Tesla to be worth more than Apple and Saudi Aramco combined.
[15] Tesla currently has a market cap of $670 .5 billion.
[16] The Florida Board of Education passed a new rule this week, which will mandate that Florida school boards notify parents if the local board has a policy that allows students to use use a bathroom or locker room inconsistent with his or her biological sex.
[17] Matthew Woodside, a Florida teacher, spoke at a recent Brevard County School Board meeting.
[18] So let's be very clear.
[19] Our policies are compelling teachers to be in the presence of nude minors of the opposite sex and exposed our students to the same.
[20] This is criminal in any other context, yet teachers are given official threats of discipline when we refuse to comply.
[21] And all this happens with zero parental notification.
[22] New York has unveiled its new shelter for the city's growing illegal immigration population, complete with Xbox's, big -screen TVs, and couches.
[23] The Randall's Island Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Center is set to temporarily house up to 500 single men.
[24] Authorities are also offering 24 -7 dining options.
[25] Those meals are all culturally appropriate.
[26] It is South American Fair.
[27] The menu rotates.
[28] And former Vice President Mike Pence sparked intrigue about his future presidential plans this week during a question and answer session at Georgetown University.
[29] Take a listen.
[30] Mr. Pence, if Donald Trump is the Republican nominee for president in 2024, will you vote for him?
[31] Well, there might be somebody else.
[32] I'd prefer more.
[33] You know, what I can tell you is I have every confidence that the Republican Party's going to sort out leadership.
[34] All my focus has been on the midterm elections, and it'll stay that way for the next 20 days.
[35] But after that, we'll be thinking about the future, ours and the nations, and I'll keep you posted.
[36] Okay.
[37] So far, no politician in either party has a fact.
[38] officially announced his or her 2024 candidacy.
[39] Well, those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
