The Cincinnati Reds were overwhelmed in a 9-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader. Rookie Chase Petty had a rough MLB debut, surrendering 9 earned runs on 7 hits over just 2.1 innings pitched. The Reds' offense continued to struggle, going just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Santiago Espinal and Elly De La Cruz accounted for five of the team’s seven hits, but the lineup couldn’t generate much else. The defeat capped off a disappointing day for Cincinnati.
