[2] The death toll in Turkey and Syria has now exceeded 20 ,000 people.
[3] That's according to the New York Times today.
[4] More than 100 ,000 people are now homeless as aftershocks continue, and at least three Americans are believed to have been killed.
[5] Three days in, the rescue efforts continue despite significant logistical barriers.
[6] The U .S. State Department said today that the Chinese balloon shot down by the Biden administration, is believed to have had antennas likely capable of collecting communications.
[7] Images from flybys of the balloon show that the aircraft, quote, was clearly for intelligence surveillance and inconsistent with the equipment on board weather balloons.
[8] On this vote, the yeas are 419.
[9] The nays are zero.
[10] Two -thirds being in the affirmative, the rules are suspended.
[11] The resolution is agreed to.
[12] The House passed a unanimous bipartisan resolution this morning, condemning China for its brazen violation of United States sovereignty.
[13] The resolution also demands more information from the Biden administration about the incident.
[14] Pennsylvania Senator John Federman was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday evening and remained there overnight after feeling lightheaded at a Democrat Senate retreat.
[15] The development comes after Federman suffered a serious stroke while on the campaign trail last year, which raised concerns about his overall health.
[16] His team says there's no evidence of a new stroke.
[17] For the second time in a week, a local New Jersey GOP council member has been shot dead.
[18] Milford Borough Councilman Russell Heller was killed Wednesday, just seven days after Sayersville Councilwoman, Eunice Junfer, was shot.
[19] Authorities do not believe the tragedies are related.
[20] Police found the suspected shooter nearby, dead in his car from a suspected self -inflicted gunshot wound, about three and a half hours after the slaying.
[21] A TV reporter was arrested Wednesday in Ohio for, quote, speaking during the governor's press conference.
[22] News Nation journalist Evan Lambert was approached by law enforcement while reporting live from Governor Mike DeWine's press conference, addressing a 50 -car train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
[23] Videos show law enforcement officials escorting Lambert into a hallway to arrest him after asking him to stop.

[26] Southwest Airlines C .O. Andrew Waterson said in remarks prepared for a Thursday hearing that he and fellow executives messed up amid the company's holiday travel meltdown.
[27] Southwest canceled some 16 ,700 flights between December 21st and December 31st, even as severe winter weather subsided in the days after Christmas.
