[1] To say I was a basket case would probably not be an understatement.
[2] Human behavior is complicated.
[3] Our mind is incredibly adept as simulating all sorts of possibilities.

[6] This is Shankar Vedantam.
[7] Since 2015, I've hosted...
[8] the Hidden Brain podcast.
[9] And now, I'm so excited to launch our new podcast subscription, Hidden Brain Plus.
[10] If you like learning about humans and why we do the things we do, Hidden Brain Plus is where you'll get even more of the insights and ideas that we feature on the show.
[11] And I wish I could tell my 20 -year -old self, things are okay.

[13] They weren't easy.
[14] They weren't always good, but things all worked out.
[15] But then I said, maybe that's not good because maybe the reason that things turned out okay is because I was so worried.

[23] The question I have is based on a recent interaction I had at work where my manager...
[24] Is this bias receding, or is...
[25] Is it stable over the years?
[26] And I'm curious how I can apply these seven principles to my children.
[27] That's my issue.
[28] Thank you so much.
[29] Bye -bye.
