[47] interesting so I'm glad we have you this week but last week I felt was an epic week in Marlins baseball and I wanted your emotions because what happened well the room is flat the room that well they traded everybody what yes again what's in here and the entire room doesn't care at all like nobody cared at all we're numb to it I didn't care I went out and tried to help this team okay the Marlins find a fan that could name somebody on the current roster.

[193] They seemingly rebuilt their farm system, which we've heard a number of times, so we'll see.

[208] Well, on the flip side, I was kind of disappointed that Bell went and we didn't really get anything for Bell.
[209] They just kind of took salary for him, maybe a player to be named later, because they were just trying to get rid of his salary.
[210] I saw a thing the other day, and I don't know how accurate this is, but I'm going to tell you as though it is accurate, that the Marlins pay the second most amount to players not on their team.
[211] I think only like the Yankees were higher than them.
[212] So the Marlins are paying close to $60 million in players to not play for the Marlins.
[213] And I think that they're is like $14 million for players to play for the Marlins, which isn't how you want to do it, typically.
[214] Well, but Billy, this part's funny, right?
[215] And this is where I missed you because the appalling mismanagement of this franchise that now gets another cleanup, Avicel Garcia is one of those pieces.
[216] They're paying him a ton.
[217] He was terrible here.
[218] He was just truly terrible here, but they skate on all of it.
[219] Like, there's not, there aren't any great, I'm curious what you think of this, Stugats, because Thomas out there was telling us while they were booking shrinkers that he saw that 40 Marlins fans were on a flight to Atlanta to watch the Marlins split against the break.

[223] That's dedication, man. And so he was wondering, he was wondering what a sad trip it was for those Marlins fans.

[537] You did see for half a nanosecond some kind of humility right after the race when he wasn't sure he had won and he was congratulated.
[538] He wasn't sure he had won.
[539] He did not know he had won.
[540] And so you saw humility from somebody a lot of people wanted to see humble.
[541] I was watching the very start of the pre -race stuff on mute and that alerted me to change to to the audio, but it appeared like he was mouthing to himself, this is my moment as he was getting ready.
[542] So to have that pre -race routine, to have that race, that finish, him tear off the Lyle's placard from his chest and hold it up in the air, it was pretty iconic.
[543] It's cool, but I can't tell you how many times before a track meet, I said, this is my moment, and I know how I did the meet.
[544] Happens all the time.
[545] Every athlete is out there's like, this is not my Olympic moment.
[546] Oh, I can't wait.
[547] Oh, I'm going to show you.
[548] the world.
[549] Oh, no, I hit the bar.

[553] Time to go home and shame.
[554] Why did I fly to Paris?

[557] All of them start the race thinking that, correct?
[558] But I think one of the things that's interesting about Lyle's winning is he represents maximum American athlete bravado speed division where wide receivers and football and track stars you better be the most confident person in the world and in that sport they're showing it to us all the time.
[559] There isn't a lot of fake humility in that sport.
[560] Those people have to be hugely arrogant and he's as arrogant as we've ever had.
[561] There were a whole lot of people rooting for him to lose because that doesn't feel like sportsmanship.
[562] But in track and field, who cares about sportsmanship?
[563] And this is where the Olympics get wrapped up in the flag and how are you representing our country.
[564] country, but you can see what it means to these athletes.
[565] Even the pros where Schaeffler's crying and Djokovic, it's going crazy.
[566] Like, you can see that it means something to these people to still play for the country.
[567] Stugans, it is the coolest thing when sports is the best of us, right?
[568] Like, these are hugely divided times.
[569] Like, the Olympics, a lot of times, have a hell of a lot more politics than these have in them.
[570] And the athletes are representing us, like they really deeply care about representing their flag and their country, a country that has made it hard for a whole lot of people, including black people.
[571] Doesn't it warm your heart to see the reaction to this Olympics?
[572] It's hearkening back to a bygone era.
[573] Olympic ratings kept going down.
[574] They were in a free fall.
[575] Everyone was talking about how live sports were in a free fall, and now they've bounced back in a major way.
[576] These are major talking points.
[577] People have been galvanized by what they see on the TV.
[578] These are massive numbers.
[579] I mean, 35 million people gathering around the tube as a family to watch Team USA.
[580] That's something that was happening when I was a little kid.
[581] I'm so glad that it's back.
[582] You had a day over the weekend where it felt like a regular sports day.
[583] You had Scotty Schaeffler.
[584] You had what felt to a lot of people like a major.
[585] It wasn't, by the way.
[586] Sheffler would give that gold medal back for a green jacket tomorrow.
[587] Really?
[588] I want to talk to you about the golf because it was happening at the same time and we kind of had to make a decision.
[589] You had them on both screens because the golf, you had players that were in top.
[590] form.
[591] And the tennis, while Olympic tennis isn't really height of the sport, the rules are a little bit different, that was, in terms of pure tennis being played, one of the all -time matches, because it's not a five -setter, it won't get the attention.
[592] But every point in that match was an absolute war.
[593] And Djokovic to do that at his age, with a knee injury, he almost retired during that Sitsipas match because he couldn't move.
[594] It was visible for Djokovic to do that in the face of a dude that is so on right now that was this is uh i guess the dan lebitard show drinking game coming for his stuff in profound ways to that's why you saw that reaction because yeah it's a golden slam for novac but he realized i just did something that i myself doubted entering that match he was a substantive underdog in ways that we haven't really seen that was probably the most impressive thing i've ever seen jokovic whoa oh the other side, you had Algaras emotional that he let down his country.
[595] So it was, listen, it was a great moment.
[596] I'm just saying, Djokovic gives that gold medal back if he can have the Wimbledon title.
