[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.

[1] It's Thursday, December 21st, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[2] Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani filed for bankruptcy today just days after being ordered to pay $148 million in a defamation lawsuit brought against him by two former election workers.

[3] The election workers claimed that his alleged targeting of them led to death threats that made them fear for their lives.

[4] In a filing, Giuliani listed over 100.

[5] $150 million in existing and potential debts.

[6] That includes around $1 million in tax liabilities and money he owes to lawyers.

[7] The biggest debt, however, is the $148 million that Giuliani was ordered to pay a week ago.

[8] Harvard University reported several more instances of possible plagiarism in President Claudine Gay's academic work on Wednesday as the House continues its investigation into the school.

[9] Daily Wire reporter Amanda Prestichakamo has more.

[10] House leadership is demanding to know whether students and the leaders of the Ivy League School are being held to the same standard on plagiarism.

[11] The Harvard Crimson reports that the school's highest governing body released a review on Wednesday evening and it stated that Gay will request corrections from Harvard's office of the provost to her Ph .G. Dissertation.

[12] During additional assessment, the university found more instances of duplicative language that were absent of appropriate citation.

[13] This all comes just one week after Harvard said Gay's work, didn't violate their standards for research misconduct.

[14] The university president then requested four corrections, which would insert citations and quotation marks that were omitted in two articles.

[15] The mother of an Israeli man taken hostage by Hamas, who was mistakenly killed by Israeli troops, recorded an unforgettable message of support for the Israeli defense force.

[16] Iris Hames' son Yotam, who was seized by terrorists on October 7th, was killed on December 15th along with two other hostages.

[17] They were mistaken by IDF soldiers as a threat.

[18] Instead of condemning the troops, Hain recorded a message of support.

[19] Here's a bit from that.

[20] In her message, she addresses the soldiers saying, quote, I wanted to tell you that I love you very much and I hug you from afar.

[21] I know that everything that happened is absolutely not your fault and nobody's fault except that of Hamas.

[22] More than a dozen people were killed and many more injured after a shooting at a university in Prague today.

[23] According to police, the suspect has been killed and at least 23 people were injured.

[24] As the chaos unfolded, witnesses say they heard shots and saw people running from Prague's old town across the Charles Bridge.

[25] Police say they still don't have a motive.

[26] A federal judge has blocked a California law that would have banned carrying guns in most public places from taking effect in the state.

[27] The judge ruled that the law violated the Second Amendment.

[28] The law, which was set to take effect January 1st, would have prohibited carrying firearms in 26 places, including public parks, playgrounds, churches, banks, and zoos.

[29] The ban would have applied to anyone whether they had a permit to carry or not.

[30] And Southern California was hit by a powerful storm with heavy rain today, causing significant flooding in some areas and raising the possibility of mudslides.

[31] In Oxnard, residents were told to stay off city streets for several hours after various.

[32] social media videos showed roads underwater.

[33] Here's Andy Van Skiver, public information officer of the Ventura County Fire Department detailing rescue efforts.

[34] The Ventura County Fire Department and the Oxnard Fire Department and the Ventura City Fire Department, Swiftwater Rescue teams and our Ventura County hand crew teams responded to flooded vehicles in the roadways.

[35] Overall, there were 12 swift water rescues.

[36] The most significant incident tonight was the Wynemi Bay Club, a senior community.

[37] We were able to rescue 10 people in conjunction with the sheriff's department and the fire department.

[38] According to the San Diego National Weather Service, several Southern California coastal communities are also under flood watch through Friday evening.
