The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz XX
[0] You're listening to Draft King's Network.
[1] Chris Cody, can you look up for me the most recent information, please, about Bezos, possibly buying the Celtics, trying to buy the champion Boston Celtics.
[2] And before we get to Juju Gotti here, I just want to make a couple of different points off of that Tua interview that you may have just heard.
[3] One, the man is talking about Brian Flores in a way that I have not heard.
[4] him talk about Brian Flores before.
[5] This stuff has been reported around him, but it's never been in his voice.
[6] And I would just remind all of you who may be saying some form to what, you couldn't handle the tough coaching.
[7] The man played for Nick Saban.
[8] So it's not like he didn't have a tough coach.
[9] He's saying of Brian Flores, that dude helped wreck my confidence.
[10] So before we get to my favorite part of that interview, let's just play that clip one more time because my only regret is that I was not wearing a costume of some sort when it is that we were talking about this.
[11] Can you explain to us?
[12] Last question before we get you out.
[13] Can you explain to us the difference in practical terms between having a coach who did believe in you the way that he did and the difference between that and what was happening with Flores?
[14] Yeah.
[15] Well, to put it in simplest terms, if you woke up every morning and I told you, you sucked at what you did, that you don't belong doing what you do, that you shouldn't be here, that this guy should be here, that you haven't earned this right, and then you have somebody else come in and tell you, dude, you are the best fit for this.
[16] Like, you are accurate, you are the best, whatever, you are this, you are that.
[17] Like, how would it make you feel listening to one or the other?
[18] You see what I'm saying?
[19] And then you hear it, you hear it, regardless of what it is, the good or the bad, and you hear it more and more, you start to actually believe that.
[20] I don't care who you are.
[21] You can be the president of the United States.
[22] You have a terrible person that's telling you things that you don't want to hear or that you probably shouldn't be hearing.
[23] You're going to start to believe that about yourself.
[24] And so that's sort of like what ended up happening.
[25] And it was, I mean, it's basically been, what, two years of training that out of, not just me, but, you know, a couple of the guys as well that have been here since my rookie year all the way till now.
[26] Juju, a lot of people in the NFL are reaching out to me. This is something that's making the rounds and my favorite part of it is that Chris Cody is sitting in the middle of it in shorts and everyone is commenting on what is he doing there?
[27] Two is wearing shorts too, because it's hot in Florida.
[28] I had to make sure to leave that part of the clip in, but I was like, nah, I know that they just want that two of information.
[29] but I'm going to get y 'all a little bit of us too.
[30] You ain't looking that bad.
[31] It was just uncomfortable, though.
[32] That's what it was.
[33] I'm not a middle guy on a couch.
[34] I've never been.
[35] Never have been.
[36] I love him.
[37] The people are writing in.
[38] Can't Guard Anna from Twitter says the problem with tough love is when you don't already have love established within the relationship.
[39] It's just you being an asshole.
[40] And so the people are writing in a lot today, bro.
[41] And they, you got the internet going.
[42] crazy right.
[43] You was right about this to interview, brother.
[44] We got to give it to you.
[45] Well, one of the things that you just heard from him that he's as amazed by as I am, I'm like, why are you so polarizing?
[46] Like, what is it about you that any time we throw any TWA information into the chum, what breaks out around it is something I've never seen in the history of South Florida athletes, and even as weird as the quarterback position is.
[47] I don't feel like it's this around every quarterback in the league.
[48] Is he that valuable?
[49] I don't know when all he is is like a decent public person that we're arguing about because we don't know whether the system's responsible for his success or he's responsible for his success as if it can't be both those things.
[50] Right.
[51] And Marty Smith writes in, it's amazing how deeply empowering it is just when someone believes in you.
[52] So I think that, like you said, bro, he's so polarizing to us because he went through the concussion stuff.
[53] his team he had Tyreek he left KC to come over there this it's a lot to talk about but you're right now him his him as a man to me shines through every single time I see him talk or hear him more than anything else and you could just tell he's a good brother man well he behaves in a way that seems fundamentally decent I don't think you will get any dispute from that from anybody in that huddle or locker room what else were people talking about today what did we do wrong here today.
[54] Not enough Greg Cody.
[55] It's never enough Greg Cody.
[56] Always need more Greg Cody.
[57] Definitely need more Greg Cody all the time.
[58] Also, we need more Caitlin Clark mentioned.
[59] She broke the record yesterday for most assists by a rookie, breaking a teacher Penichero's record.
[60] You dig?
[61] Also, Angel Reach broke, she got 19 and 20 rebounds yesterday, putting up big numbers.
[62] The rookies are standing up.
[63] I do think that, however, after this Olympic break, to echo KG from Twitter his sentiment.
[64] This Olympic break is what Caitlin Clark might have needed because you always say she went from playing with Iowa straight into the league.
[65] No breaks.
[66] And she had a chance to rest up and she's looking incredible.
[67] I feel like the rookie of the year race, it's not as tight as it once was, dare I say.
[68] Whoa.
[69] Did I see that Caitlin Clark already has more assists than 75 % of WMBA players in history?
[70] That's just a wacky stat.
[71] We're not worthy.
[72] We're not worthy.
[73] She's going crazy.
[74] Yeah, man. She's doing incredible.
[75] And the Indiana fever, they're the team, Alia Boston, and Lisa Smith, their team is jelling now.
[76] So they actually have something to say within the W at this point.
[77] I can't wait to see how this plays out.
[78] Dan, I am seeing that Bill Simmons has said in the last few days there's been legitimate buzz about Bezos buying the Celtics.
[79] And he thinks it's real.
[80] He thinks he's going to be one of the suitors.
[81] There's a whole quote here from him.
[82] But it seems legit, that famous, gigantic, $300 million lot.
[83] But I think it's real that he's potentially in the mix for this.
[84] What was that number you just gave me?
[85] Well, I'm trying to.
[86] There's a long quote from Bill Simmons, but I thought that the 300 million had something to do with the amount or something, but it's really just about a yacht.
[87] So I kind of jumped in.
[88] So you just blew a bunch of yacht numbers in my face and we're hoping that I wasn't listening and would just keep moving on?
[89] I was skimming all of Bill Simmons is.
[90] quote and in there I saw 300 million so I'm like oh this has got to be something involved and it's just how much is he just threw a number you only read an entire paragraph dance I mean I don't trust your reading in general but if you're going to provide me information it shouldn't be fragmented it should have some numbers that mean something to me you should be able to read retain and then regurgitate is that that big of an ask do you okay now I see it to him it would be no different than you bought this famous gigantic 300 million dollar yacht but I think he's got really like it's basically him saying, hey, you can buy a $300 million yacht, this would be the same kind of invest.
[91] Yes, that Bezos has the kind of money that would make the Celtics just an ornament that he could put in somewhere in his portfolio that isn't one of the biggest ornaments.
[92] That is correct.
[93] You could have said that instead of just spitting $300 million yacht at me with no context.
[94] I feel good about this.
[95] You shouldn't.
[96] You shouldn't feel any better about this than you did sitting in the middle of seat.
[97] Juju, what else?
[98] What other criticism was there for Chris Cody as you purposely sabotaged him by sitting him in the middle of that interview saying nothing?
[99] in a shirt that was too tight and shorts that were too short.
[100] I'm going to show my brother Grace.
[101] We need more grace than the world.
[102] I'm going to show him some grace on that.
[103] And let it be known.
[104] Let it be known.
[105] I walked into that room and they were like right there.
[106] I'm like middle.
[107] Like I saw this coming from 10 miles away.
[108] I saw it coming the night before.
[109] Juju, can you explain to me how it is that I should feel as an adult leader of people having to text to God's and Chris the night before?
[110] Can you guys please come tomorrow in a way that's presentable, and that's how Chris Cody shows up.
[111] Let's not forget about the side text.
[112] You gave me a side text.
[113] You told me that was for Stugats, even though it was for me. I knew it was for me. Looking back, if we was going to put my boy in the middle, we should have put a tie on him or something, man. We should have dressed him up in a lice velvet suit or something, man. In hindsight?
[114] He looked like Ricky Bobby.
[115] He didn't know what to do with his arms.
[116] In hindsight, I should have been behind the couch, and I just pop up whenever I got a question.
[117] That's what we should have done.
[118] That is what we should have done.
[119] Instead, I'm just like, look at this.
[120] Look at this face.
[121] I'm looking at the camera right now.
[122] And I'm saying to the camera, don't look at me. Juju, we did five other interviews, and I'm telling you, and all of them, each of the interviewees was uncomfortable how close Chris was to their face.
[123] They had never been interviewed by somebody who they could smell his breath that clearly.
[124] At one point, I patted Jalen Phillips on the thigh.
[125] I was like, good interview, man. Oh, my God.
[126] Anything else worth noting today, Jujoo?
[127] We didn't get to the dancing bear signing with the Philadelphia 76ers after a heroic dunk over LeBron against the in the Olympics, my bad.
[128] But yeah, him going to Philly, I think that really, that roster is looking strong, like low key, the process has been trusted, kind of.
[129] What do you think about that movie?
[130] Yeah, they've got Caleb Martin just coming off their bench and now they eventually, they, It seems to me like they just got Yabuselli by basically scouting him because, oh, he dunked on LeBron.
[131] Let's get him for less than a price of a brawny.
[132] Let's get him for one year, $2 .1 million.
[133] And basically it's just because all of us noticed that he had a lot of backside power.
[134] Like all of us noticed at the same time.
[135] That dude's 250 pounds.
[136] How is he not in the league?
[137] He's playing with the dream teamers.
[138] All of us scouted him at the same time, right?
[139] That's not even about Daryl Morey seeing something.
[140] He saw it when we saw it.
[141] Yeah, I mean, us and my brother Jeffrey Bezos because he was a Celtic grade as well.
[142] He played with us for a couple of years and we let him go.
[143] But I definitely think that him on that roster for that price is going to be way more valuable.
[144] He's going to outplay that contract probably two months in if he sees the court.
[145] One year 2 .1 million suggests that anybody could have had him for anything, right?
[146] If the Sixers won that bidding war, it's not much of a bidding war.
[147] Right, right.
[148] You're right about it.
[149] You write about it.
[150] Lastly, Dracus Duplessi came out on top against Israel and Assangea.
[151] And the boys for the MMA hangout the other night did great job.
[152] The cat skills or whatever it's called.
[153] I'm not sure the name of the venue, but it's an amazing venue, man. And seeing Mike out there having fun with Lou and Tony, what a wonderful night, man. Keep blocking in for UFC Hangout.
[154] It's also available online right now on YouTube.
[155] Go check it out.
[156] It's very popular.
[157] or Casa Tiki is the place where they've been doing it.
[158] They're getting crowds out there and they're getting crowds on the internet as well as Tony is doing a good job with Lewis and everybody else on those MMA hangouts.
[159] Was there anything from, we didn't talk at all about Donald Trump sort of miscalculating the popularity that he has in MMA by saying that Joe Rogan is going to get booed at MMA because he endorsed and then walked back an endorsement of RFK.
[160] That's Trump overplaying his hand with the MMA crowd if he thinks he's more popular than Rogan there.
[161] Right, bro.
[162] Trump is overplaying his hands a lot over the weekend.
[163] Those AI photos he's been posting.
[164] It's like, damn, bro.
[165] Like, get well soon.
[166] Like, good luck moving forward because this ain't the way.
[167] We didn't talk either today, Juju, about Zion Williamson looking skinny all of a sudden, looking like he's in the best shape of his life, those photographs that came out.
[168] I imagine Nick's fans are noticing that trying to figure out how it is that they're going to get Zion soon.
[169] I think that's kind of like Ben Simmons workout, though, to me in the summertime.
[170] We're going to always get during the summer, Zion just looking amazing and chiseled.
[171] Show me that during the season, please.
[172] Like Ben Simmons, of course you can beat up on these guys at this L .A. Fitness.
[173] Of course, you look like Michael Jeffrey himself out here.
[174] But show me that against the Utah Jazz, please.
[175] The Internet seems to be speculating Ozempic has been in play here.
[176] Man, are we not going to let anybody just lose it?
[177] the weight.
[178] We're now going to medicine shame them.
[179] We're now going to, that's what we're going to do every time somebody loses weight.
[180] We're going to accuse them of those emperic as if they, they didn't do it the honorable way by simply stopping eating hamburgers.
[181] Assholes.
