The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz XX
[0] You're listening to Draft King's Network.
[1] Now's a good time to remember where the story of tequila started.
[2] In 1795, the first tequila distillery was opened by the Cuervo family.
[3] And 229 years later, Cuervo is still going strong.
[4] Family owned from the start, same family, same land.
[5] Now's a good time to enjoy Cuervo.
[6] The tequila that invented tequila.
[7] Go to Quervo .com to shop tequila or visit a store near you.
[8] Quervo, now's a good time.
[9] owned by Beckley, SAB, the CV, copyright 2024.
[10] Proximo.
[11] Jersey City, New Jersey.
[12] Please drink responsibly.
[13] This is the Dan Levatore show with the Stucats podcast.
[14] I am going to apologize on the front end before anything else and ask forgiveness of the audience if at any point today I am even more erratic than usual because I had forgotten because of the time continuum and all the problems we're generally having with time.
[15] I had forgotten that today is the one -year anniversary of my brother dying until people started reminding me all morning.
[16] And so I am a bit discombobulated, and I wanted to start with Trump and everything that happened at a disaster of an interview setting with the National Association of Black Journalists.
[17] But unfortunately, everybody here was howling with laughter when I walked in about a song created about the 2001 Mariners.
[18] And so I have to start there.
[19] For some reason, Chris Cody and Mike Ryan were saying that we can't start there.
[20] It doesn't make any sense.
[21] I was wondering why we're wasting so much money with paying Taylor and other people to do dumb shit around here as Tony is on Bird Road right now looking for someone who can, name a Marlins fan.
[22] We'll check in with him to see if he finds anybody.
[23] This was not a text I was expecting to get from Taylor last night.
[24] And it was just, I've been smiling ever since I heard it.
[25] What is it?
[26] And I should, it's the name of Marlin, right?
[27] You said name a Marlins fan.
[28] Yes.
[29] I made that mistake.
[30] I made the mistake of saying Marlins fan.
[31] Yes, we are going to get Tony and see if he can find a Marlins fan who can name a Marlins player is what I meant to say, but I'm going to say on the front end.
[32] Josh Gad.
[33] Yeah, Marlins fan, big Marlins fan.
[34] Drew Barrymore, that one fall.
[35] Is Josh Gad a big Marlins fan because he's friends with Samson?
[36] He roots for all the local teams down here.
[37] Okay.
[38] I know who Josh Gad is, but my brother Chris got a look in his eyes.
[39] I don't think he knows.
[40] So who was Josh damn gad?
[41] All right.
[42] What has he been in that's famous?
[43] He was frozen.
[44] He's Olaf.
[45] Billy Crystal.
[46] The Lord of the Rings.
[47] reunion episode on Zoom during COVID.
[48] The live action, Beauty and the Beast.
[49] The Book of Mormon was like his big break, yeah?
[50] Who knew that we had so many Josh Gad fans here in the room?
[51] So explain to me again, Chris Cody.
[52] Taylor was just wasting his time.
[53] He just texted you.
[54] Well, what's he doing for us?
[55] Let me backtrack here because over the last three and a half years of Metal Arc adding more and more employees, I don't know what some things.
[56] people here are supposed to be doing, what their job title is.
[57] What is Taylor supposed to be doing that he is texting you about the 2001 Mariners?
[58] Well, he's been spearheading our baseball trivia from the early 2000s division.
[59] So he's been kind of taken care of that.
[60] Arrow's pointing up on that division, by the way.
[61] And we recorded one of those yesterday, and I think a name that was said, and I don't want to spoil it, because you'll hear it in the song, inspired him to talk about the 2001 Mariners.
[62] Okay.
[63] Now, we know we have learned over time.
[64] here that this alienates, it aggressively alienates Jessica, aggressively.
[65] The naming of baseball players from the 1990s and 2000.
[66] Lucy as well, it aggressively alienates her.
[67] I don't know if it's...
[68] Only when Mike sure does it for an hour.
[69] There we are.
[70] We don't need an hour and a half of Terry Pendleton's and etc. That's how you play the game right there.
[71] That's great.
[72] Well, why just start something?
[73] You can't finish.
[74] We do need an hour and a half of Terry Pendleton's.
[75] We're about to play a song.
[76] Jeremy Burnitz.
[77] The Bureau, Ken Oberkfeld, the Bureau of, you're saying he's in charge of the Bureau of 2001 Mariners and Baseball Trivia.
[78] So what we've figured out is we're about to celebrate our 20th anniversary, a year -long celebration of your on -air relationship with Stu Gatz.
[79] But there were a lot of great teams and stories we missed out on.
[80] So we assigned Taylor to cover all the stories that we just weren't around in front of microphones for.
[81] Are you 100 % sure that my relationship with Stugat is going to get to our 20th anniversary?
[82] Nope.
[83] Go ahead and play the song, Chris.
[84] Saturday morning, woke up for the game and put on my M's hat.
[85] Got in my car and raced to the park.
[86] A season to remember.
[87] Garcia and Moyer, best staff.
[88] in the land Boone's bat brought the heat Penella just got ejected again Yeah Cameron's in the outfield no balls hit the ground Casa Hiro Suzuki in for the safe Ichiro is on the bases yeah he's flying around Edgar Martinez is a fan fave At first it's Sean Olerud Wearing a helmet in the field too At first it's John Ola Rood We'll lose to the Yankees anyway Luce to the Yankees Luce to them anyway Luce to the Yankees Yeah, no matter where we play Luce to the Yankees Damn, this is blasphemy At first it's John Ola Rood Fire I don't know what we're doing with our money Why did he sing it in that key?
[89] I don't think he has another key.
[90] I think that's the key that Taylor has.
[91] He's aggressively bad at singing.
[92] I don't know why it is we've empowered him.
[93] You don't have to pretend like that was bad.
[94] I know that's the show bit.
[95] That was a great song.
[96] Inspired choice.
[97] Yes, could the singing have been better?
[98] Of course.
[99] But that's not what we want from Taylor.
[100] He gave us a John Olerud song.
[101] At first, Sean Ola Rood.
[102] That's a great way to start my morning.
[103] It's just an excuse to say that the Thank you's one.
[104] Can you go, can you cut the yeah?
[105] I just want to, I want to hear that part again.
[106] John Olerud did famously play a helmet, wear a helmet in the field at first base because he was protecting a brain, you know, a skull scar because he had some brain surgery.
[107] Every time I hear the name John Olerud, the only thing I think of is that Ricky Henderson was his teammate and played with him in, I think, Toronto, and then again in Oakland.
[108] And when he was in Oakland, he told John Olerud, hey, I played with a guy in Toronto who played with a helmet on his head in the field.
[109] And Olerud's like, yeah, that was me, Ricky.
[110] That actually happened to Ricky Henderson.
[111] Ricky's got 20 years.
[112] Aaron Boone, I saw a photo of him there.
[113] There's that one Aaron Boone season where he had 45 home runs as a second basement or something ridiculous.
[114] I saw Brett Boone on the famous trade with the Cincinnati Reds.
[115] Thank you.
[116] And Brett Boone for Ken Griffey Jr. And the Mariners actually won that one.
[117] Thank you.
[118] Correction.
[119] Good correction.
[120] I keep calling him Aaron Boone.
[121] I've done that for many years.
[122] Yes.
[123] There's a father Boone out there as well.
[124] You know, I accidentally texted Aaron Boone by mistake.
[125] And he texted me back.
[126] Yeah.
[127] No, it was like, it was a pocket dial.
[128] And he was like just checking in, hey, I got a call from this number.
[129] Hey, I'd ring you up the wrong way.
[130] I didn't mean to hit you up.
[131] And he's like, it's all good, man. He was very polite in our exchange, Aaron Boone.
[132] That happened fairly recently.
[133] But why are you sharing that with us?
[134] Well, I just had an Aaron Boone.
[135] Talk about the Boones, man. Boone's bat brought the heat.
[136] Penelma just got ejected again.
[137] I was actually trying to hit up Brett Boone.
[138] Brett Boone had that one season where he hit 45 home runs and the only reason I bring it up is because I did see a piece of the Pete Rose documentary on Max last night and I didn't remember this.
[139] You guys, I don't know if you knew it or not.
[140] I didn't think it was possible.
[141] Pete Rose won the MVP of the league hitting five home runs one season.
[142] Five home runs.
[143] I couldn't, I didn't remember it.
[144] I couldn't believe it.
[145] I was just staggered and confused.
[146] Put it on the poll, please, at Lebitard show.
[147] Just put this on the poll.
[148] Has anyone ever won the MVP of baseball hitting only five home runs in a season?
[149] Because I don't think, even though it's a fact, I don't think that people will believe that that's something that can happen.
[150] I thought the greatest example for that I'd ever seen was Tommy Hur hitting fewer than 10 home runs one season and having a good offensive season.
[151] but I hadn't seen anybody win the MVP for that.
[152] When we go out to Tony on Bird Road, are you guys confident that he's going to be able to find a single Marlins fan that can name a single Marlins player who's...
[153] You could have ended the sentence at Fan.
[154] I mean, that's Westchester, though.
[155] Like, if there is any place that you can find a Marlins fan, that is, like, among, like, the highest percentage of people that love baseball.
[156] You got the baseball fields right there, hugely Hispanic area.
[157] I think he's going to find somebody.
[158] That's why we're sending him out to that area because he'd have no chance around here.
[159] And a lot of people yesterday were complaining about what it is that I was saying about jazz chisholm.
[160] Like someone writes in here, why is Dan so emotionally attached to an average baseball player on a bad team?
[161] And I'm simply telling you that what got cut open for me over the week of them treating at everybody, is just the post -traumatic stress disorder of the sports fan down here who cares about baseball and the ways that they have ruined it.
[162] Summer's the best time to run the way you want.
[163] Dial it up with new challenges and programs and bring your workouts with you to make the most of outside sunny days.
[164] Stugats, guess what?
[165] You know what you can do with Peloton?
[166] What?
[167] Get the app.
[168] Go outside, ride a bike.
[169] Well, I thought you ride Peloton inside.
[170] Well, you do.
[171] You can ride Peloton inside if it's a rainy day or if it's cloudy or you just don't want to get outside.
[172] Maybe it's too hot.
[173] It's summertime.
[174] Go outside.
[175] I record a lot from my office with you.
[176] And you've noticed it's sitting there, yet it hasn't been used.
[177] Well, now's the time.
[178] Summer's the best time to start that push, Stugatz.
[179] Right, can we do it together?
[180] Not on the same bike, but we could join a class together.
[181] I used to do that.
[182] We used to have Guillermo Ton.
[183] I'd invite people.
[184] We'd all take a class together, same time.
[185] So I think you're starting to get concerned about my health and my age, Billy.
[186] I sense that with you.
[187] We're beyond starting.
[188] Okay.
[189] Whatever road lies ahead, your training starts here with Peloton Tread and Tread Plus.
[190] It's not just a bike, a treadmill, too.
[191] I'm going to go outside.
[192] I'm going to get in shape.
[193] I'm going to do it.
[194] with Billy Gill.
[195] I want to be in your class.
[196] I want you to be my instructor.
[197] You don't want to spend more time with me. No, I can schedule a class and we can ride together.
[198] But I won't be the instructor of the class.
[199] We can have Camila could be our instructor.
[200] I like the Grateful Dead class.
[201] My daughter, she uses the Peloton.
[202] She was on it once and an instructor who was playing Grateful Dead tunes.
[203] Let's do that.
[204] Okay.
[205] Why don't we go for a run outside?
[206] Guided Run.
[207] Peloton.
[208] Me and you, that's something we can do together.
[209] Okay.
[210] Turn on the app.
[211] Me and you, go outside.
[212] Enjoy the summer.
[213] Call yourself a runner with Peloton at OnePeloton .com slash running.
[214] Don Lebatard.
[215] You were that kind of sad this morning, taking the barrage of anger from Stugats because you hadn't booked him enough interviews.
[216] The only reason I keep bringing this up is because you not are throwing a big party on Thursday.
[217] You're doing it, and I want people to support what you're doing because Stugats has not made this easy.
[218] Stugats.
[219] Well, you know, well, yeah, you know.
[220] This is the Don Lebatar show.
[221] two gods.
[222] Right now, I do want to play some of the sound and the video from as disastrous a public interview as you've ever seen an American president do.
[223] Roy, you're a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
[224] I have not seen what the conversation has been around, whether they should have even done this.
[225] Was there a great deal of criticism for NABJ for even inviting him to make?
[226] a mess of their proceedings?
[227] Nobody wanted it.
[228] Not a single member wanted this.
[229] And the problem was they screwed this up big time.
[230] They tried to invite Kamala to the convention.
[231] She couldn't do it because she had to attend a funeral for a congresswoman, Sheila Jackson Lee, and she had to talk to her sorority.
[232] She couldn't make it.
[233] But she tried to work with the NABJ for a virtual chat.
[234] They wanted her on -premises so they couldn't make it work.
[235] So they were just left with Trump.
[236] was a disaster.
[237] It was an absolute disaster.
[238] Somebody on Twitter actually said that the people on the right are going to believe that he's brave for going into enemy territory, which is stupid to me because they're journalists.
[239] They're Americans.
[240] You're supposed to talk to these people.
[241] They're your constituents.
[242] You're not storming the beaches of Normandy going into a race war here.
[243] Like, what are you doing here?
[244] The explanation was that NABJ has invited both candidates since 1970s consistently.
[245] I'm not actually sure, and I will defer, because I have not read what the criticism has been.
[246] It may have seemed like a bad idea at the time, and the way that it went certainly came off bad for Trump, but I don't think it looked bad for the NABJ.
[247] In fact, the first question out of the box to me is how I would like Trump questioned with facts at all times.
[248] I would love Trump to have to answer for some stuff and get pressed on it in places that are simply factual.
[249] So I don't know, and I'm asking you guys, is it fair after what you've seen to say that NABJ didn't do its job in a time when journalism is collapsing and you've got to throw these things into the light?
[250] And to my way of thinking, the way to beat Trump in Vance is just let them keep talking.
[251] Don't do anything to get in the way of just let them keep calling women, childless women, you know, pet owner, losers.
[252] Have them keep talking and you will end up winning this.
[253] I'm sorry, Juju, but they allowed him to pick one of the panelists, Harris Faulkner.
[254] And it was delayed an hour because Trump wouldn't let them fact check him live.
[255] That's a huge problem.
[256] If you're a journalistic entity like the NABJ, you got to fact check this guy because all you, does is lie.
[257] It's hard to fact check in real time.
[258] You were saying, Juju.
[259] I was thinking that I think it was important for the NABJ to have him up there.
[260] Like you said, the first thing he did was instead of answer a question so right back into that divisiveness and attack the person asking the question.
[261] It's like, brother, like, you had an opportunity to actually win over some of the people you should win over and instead of that you chose to talk about her race.
[262] She's an Indian woman.
[263] She's a black woman.
[264] She's a black woman.
[265] woman.
[266] Like, brother, that's not fire for someone to put their confidence in.
[267] And I think he really dropped the ball last night.
[268] Well, let's see how it started, because again, you may not think it's polite.
[269] You may think it's impolite to disrespect an authoritarian figure right off the top without a greeting by just presenting to him a series of facts that he's responsible for.
[270] But the brazenness of Trump recently where he's saying well you won't have to vote again in four years if you get me like the brazenness of pissing all over democracy I will tell you that dictators do not like to be questioned and racist ones and misogynistic and sexist ones do not like to be questioned by black women most of all and he tried to walk that back his team tried to walk that back and say well he just meant that once we vote him in we'll have so much confidence and their party.
[271] It's like, brothers, like, you have an opportunity.
[272] This country has leaned into divisiveness for some reason instead of just presenting facts.
[273] Like, we want to hear you talk about Sonia Massey, bro.
[274] We want to actually hear your opinion instead of you getting so offended and not answering the question.
[275] Like, how does this happen?
[276] I'm not going to ramble along, but I just think it's very embarrassing for that to be propped up so heroically.
[277] It should be noted that while his campaign has tried to walk back his comments when he he was speaking to a large gathering of Christians, he's had several opportunities to walk it back himself and he has refused.
[278] Let's listen to how this whole thing started.
[279] I want to start by addressing the elephant in the room, sir.
[280] A lot of people did not think it was appropriate for you to be here today.
[281] You have pushed false claims about some of your rivals from Nikki Haley to former President Barack Obama saying that they were not born in the United States, which is not true.
[282] You have told four Congresswoman of color.
[283] who were American citizens to go back to where they came from.
[284] You have used words like animal and rabbit to describe black district attorneys.
[285] You've attacked black journalists, calling them a loser, saying the questions that they ask are, quote, stupid and racist.
[286] You've had dinner with a white supremacist at your Mar -a -Lago resort.
[287] So my question, sir, now that you are asking black supporters to vote for you, why should black voters trust you after you have used language like that?
[288] Well, first of all, I don't think I've ever been asked a question, so, in such a horrible manner, a first question.
[289] You don't even say, hello, how are you?
[290] Are you with ABC?
[291] Because I think they're a fake news network, a terrible network.
[292] I think it's disgraceful that I came here in good spirit.
[293] I love the black population of this country.
[294] I've done so much for the black population of this country.
[295] I was having a conversation with a friend of mine.
[296] We were talking, laughing, crying about Stugats and wondering whether or not Stugats could do the job that he does for us, the way that he does it anywhere else, like at F .A .N. That way, aggressively, Stugat's.
[297] And the place that we stumbled on conversationally was, can Donald Trump in this country get another job other than the one he's trying to get?
[298] Like, he's not allowed as a felon to drive kids to school in a school bus.
[299] Like, you can't, is there another job available to Donald Trump that he could have in America given his list of things other.
[300] than president of the United States if he topples all the rules, gets the judges, changes the way everything works in our system, and stays out of jail by winning the prison, by winning the presidency.
[301] He can't even go work at McDonald's with that attitude.
[302] Like, bro, you got to be more inclusive than this.
[303] If you want to be, if you want the support of brothers and sisters around the world, first of all, you're going to have to take off your aggression cap.
[304] Answer the question.
[305] Like, to me, that's the most simple part.
[306] Answer this lady's question.
[307] disrespect this woman in front of all these people, brother.
[308] Go ahead, Jessica.
[309] I'm so sorry.
[310] No, you're good.
[311] I'm happy to hear your opinion.
[312] I think that all the reasons that you listed Dan are why people have an opinion that he shouldn't be treated like a normal candidate and why he shouldn't be extended the invitation to speak for journalists at something like NABJ.
[313] And that's why there was a lot of backlash.
[314] People and membership were very upset about the fact that they even extended the invitation to him, given especially all of the things Roy listed about why some journalistic faux pauses were made in, you know, him being able to decide the manner in which he was being interviewed and who was going to be moderating the interview.
[315] So I think that it's, you know, that what you said right there is, is the problem, is that there's a huge disagreement between a lot of people about whether or not you should de -platform Trump or whether or not This is someone that you have to give the same considerations to because he's a presidential candidate.
[316] There is nothing in this country stopping felons from making money in the avenues that he's made his money, entrepreneurship, real estate investments, and reality show hosting.
[317] The things that this person has done to journalism so easily, so oafily, have been shocking to me, heartbreaking to me. and I believe in the modern age of journalism that he went to one of his moves right off the bat, which is just call her fake news because that works.
[318] Nasty.
[319] He likes that one.
[320] But just call her fake news because it works because there is a segment of a population who believes and trusts in the credibility of this man more than it does in the American media.
[321] And that population sometimes.
[322] Like, it's salute to everybody in the world, but some kind of.
[323] Caucasians, poor Caucasians in Alabama, for example.
[324] They are ready to jump on his policies as if it will help them just because they like the figure.
[325] And they don't even understand that, brother, you voting for that, that's going to keep you poor.
[326] It's like a lot of his followers and supporters are blindly following him through the breach.
[327] And it's like, wake up, America, wake up.
[328] Please, wake up.
[329] I wasn't really surprised.
[330] I know a lot of these things are shocking, but Donald Trump has remained pretty consistent with how he handles interviews when he's pressed on things.
[331] This just offered up a whole new world of possibilities given the setup.
[332] But I was interested in given the audience that he was speaking to to see if he would actually do anything as it pertains to policy because inflation has affected many people, including black Americans.
[333] And it was more just promises.
[334] And it ignored his four years as president.
[335] Black unemployment is at a record low under the Biden administration.
[336] He kept pointing to the border as if that does affect black jobs and it affects every job.
[337] Yeah, I understand why the border is secure, but he needs to be secure for people's jobs.
[338] But he, once again, doesn't provide details.
[339] There has been resolutions pending that Donald Trump has reportedly stopped the Republicans from signing off on.
[340] And at the time, Republicans were very confused.
[341] Look, this is the same exact bill that Donald Trump drew.
[342] up.
[343] The wall is built.
[344] But they realize if they actually do anything about the border, that hurts his cause.
[345] Because there isn't actually substance.
[346] If you hold up his record, there's some excuse and some look over here type of stuff.
[347] But if you actually judge him based on his record and the things that he says, you were in charge for four years.
[348] You're not campaigning.
[349] These are promises that you can fact check.
[350] And you don't actually, you didn't actually do And he also said he would pardon the January 6th insurrectionist, and that's also a problem.
[351] Oh, there are a bunch of things here.
[352] Let's get some of the other sound.
[353] There was also something funny here that happened with a water bottle.
[354] We're going to have Jamel Hill on here in a little bit, but the comfort, the casual comfort with sitting in front of that audience and saying that Kamala Harris turned black, like the casual comfort with that can only come from a lifetime of privilege as being a mediocre man who bankrupts a bunch, who goes bankrupt a bunch of different times and keeps reinventing himself because he's white and wearing a suit.
[355] He was always of Indian heritage and she was only promoting Indian heritage.
[356] I didn't know she was black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn black and now she wants to be known as black.
[357] So I don't know, is she Indian or is she black?
[358] She has always identified as a black woman.
[359] I respect either one.
[360] I respect either one, but she obviously doesn't because she was Indian all the way and then all of a sudden she made a turn and she went, she became a black person.
[361] Apparently he doesn't know that much about genetics, you know, biracial.
[362] And that's your stance?
[363] Your stance is she is Indian or is she black?
[364] That has nothing to do with the office.
[365] That's just my point.
[366] Stop letting the wall be pulled over your eyes.
[367] And this ain't to say Kamala is, I'm not supporting Kamala.
[368] I'm just saying let's just keep the facts, facts, bro.
[369] Pick a race.
[370] The idea that any of this is this close to the presidency.
[371] Again.
[372] Disgraces again, yes.
[373] But But worse this time than the last time.
[374] And favored to win.
[375] Worse this time than the last time to the idea that any of this can be so crude and cruel as to work.
[376] And as to harm journalism in a substantive way, I felt bad for those women who were doing their job.
[377] well, I did not want to be in that position of trying to fact -check someone who is so aggressively slippery with just pouring lies in your face that you simply can't keep up with fact -checking.
[378] It's not possible in real time to call him on everything without interrupting him every two sentences.
[379] Yeah, I think there's a lot of questions to be asked, but chief among them is why does he have to be so Ola Rood He is old and rude Yeah that's true Ola Rude Yeah Look at the range of this segment How about us Can we just for a second We started with the judge Who else is doing this Are you doing it McAfee?
[380] You're not doing this You can't applaud Yeah I don't want the smoke Look let this just be Let Kamala Or Dono earn your vote America don't let these folks off the hook let make them earn your vote no matter who you support go out to the box and listen to the policies because that's going to be the most important thing you did a good job there judo of speaking right to the camera you were speaking right directly to America you were it was very intimate the way that you did that got comfortable in that seat at first it's Sean Ola Rood when you're hiring for your small business you want to find quality that are right for the role.

[394] Terms and conditions apply.
[395] Don Lebertard.
[396] In terms of heat fans, you're the most irrational of us right now.
[397] What's the pivot thing?
[398] Stugats.
[399] Oh, my irrational.
[400] Did you not hear your voice there?
[401] My boy, dude.
[402] If I were making a cartoon thing that was meant to symbolize irrational, that's the voice I would give it.
[403] This is the Dan Levitar show with the Stugats.
[404] I assure you, Chris Cody, that you should not be applauding and patting yourself on the back for that segment.
[405] We should not be applauding and patting ourselves on the back for that segment because I promise you the audience does not want that segment from us.
[406] However, as I have explained before, all of the arduous things that we have tried to do with what we're doing around here for the last three and a half years is at least in part so that we can speak freely and without corporate encumbrance when something like yesterday happens and the next three months are going to provide for.
[407] us a whole lot of stupidity to spend analyzing.
[408] So we will get back to that with Jamel Hill in just a second.
[409] But I wanted to ask you guys from among these set of facts because of how appalling the Marlins payroll is.
[410] Which of these facts would you guys pick from as the most interesting when I tell you that for what you're paying the Marlins, all of them, you can get almost 32 games of Shohei Otani.
[411] So almost 32 games.
[412] You can get a minute of ad time during the Super Bowl.
[413] You can for what all of the Marlins are being paid.
[414] You can get Beer Can Island off the coast of Tampa.
[415] It's for sale for $14 million, a little more than what the Marlins are paying everybody.
[416] Junior Bridgman, former NBA player, bought Ebony Magazine.
[417] for more $14 million than all of the Marlins are being paid.
[418] Now, is beer can island an island made of beer cans or an island that just simply looks like a beer can?
[419] I'm assuming that it's an island that is a place where people dump beer cans.
[420] It's just an island.
[421] That's what I'm assuming is there.
[422] In my youth, I collected beer cans and there was a place that I went that my parents would take me on the weekend.
[423] But that would suggest that there's a landlord for beer cans.
[424] Island.
[425] I mean, that's a sweet deal.
[426] It's apparently because of the beer cans left behind by boaters.
[427] So it's an island covered in beer cans.
[428] But I would.
[429] It makes me sad now.
[430] Which part?
[431] Well, we can buy it.
[432] But we can buy it.
[433] We can clean it up.
[434] Let's do that.
[435] You, there's a shopping center in Waukesha, Illinois that costs more than all of the Marlins are being paid.
[436] The rediscovered Rembrandt, titled The Adoration of the Kings, sold for more than all of the Marlins are being paid.
[437] Vin Diesel, obviously, at about a million dollars per word, is paid more per movie than all of the Marlins are being paid.
[438] You could get three and a half days of advertising on the sphere.
[439] Three and a half days.
[440] When you mentioned that they could do a Super Bowl at, I'm trying to think, what would be boring?
[441] beneficial for the brand of the Marlins to just punt on the entire season and do a really clever Super Bowl ad.
[442] And then people at least are like, all right, they're trying new things here.
[443] Whereas it just be bad team.
[444] Like, just punt on the season, forfeit all the games, but make a really clever Super Bowl ad.
[445] I think perhaps what we should do is just the three and a half days on the sphere instead of the Super Bowl ad.
[446] There.
[447] I think the a federal court building is being sold right here by government center for more than that.
[448] I'm starting to think that maybe the local government should let the Marlins out of this lease agreement and allow someone to purchase them and move because that land might be more valuable to the local government if they just sold it and flipped it.
[449] Like a high rise might be more beneficial to this market.
[450] You know what's funny about what you're saying there.
[451] The death of my beloved Miami Herald and Knight Ritter, its parent company, all of that started when a Chinese casino conglomerate realized that the building where the Miami Herald was on the bay was worth more than everything involving journalism at the Miami Herald, that the land there.
[452] And so Knight Ritter sold it, and that's exactly where it is that the death of the Miami Herald began as soon as they sold their land to China.
[453] And currently there's a circus tent there, and I think there's a circus in town.
[454] That is correct.
[455] Well, it's something that looks like a circus.
[456] There's always a circus in town.
[457] It's where the Marlins play.
[458] Is it not an actual circus?
[459] I don't know.
[460] It looks like a circus.
[461] What is the circus in 2024?
[462] I don't know what that is.
[463] It looks like a circus.
[464] I doubt it is the circus.
[465] I'm not sure that that's something, does that something even, does that even play?
[466] Are there still traveling circuses?
[467] Is that something that's still done in America?
[468] Yeah, yeah, they got rid of Barnum and Bailey, but there are other people like trying to seize on that.
[469] But I think most circuses are more acrobatic now.
[470] It seems that tenting, because it's an expensive piece of land, but what Jessica's talking about there, it seems and feels a little dirty.
[471] The traveling circus in general, I would say, is something that has a little bit of dirt on it.
[472] I've got a couple of more facts for you.
[473] By the way, Ringling Brothers is still like doing their thing.
[474] they're just not doing the thing that, you know, angered all those animal advocacy groups.
[475] So they have animals, but not...
[476] They're not doing it the same.
[477] They're not getting down the way that they used to.
[478] But yeah, you can catch Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey on tour.
[479] Fort Worth, Texas this weekend.
[480] What do they feature, though?
[481] They don't do, like, elephants.
[482] They don't do some of the smarter animals that shouldn't be quite so caged in these circumstances.
[483] Looks like a lot of trapeze stuff, a guy riding on, like, a tricycle with four wheels high.
[484] You know, that type of stuff.
[485] Are there any animals?
[486] Are they just small animals?
[487] Is it more like petting zoo?
[488] Because when Mike says doing their thing, I don't think that he knows exactly what that means.
[489] No, no. There's no animals on the website.
[490] So that's a pretty...
[491] We have the Lopez family doing the triangular high wire.
[492] We have the flying carcasses, the crisscross flying trapeze.
[493] That's a really unfortunate name.
[494] Stunt bikes.
[495] I don't believe that to be their name.
[496] The flying carcasses?
[497] I think you're reading incorrectly there.
[498] C -A -C -E -R -E -S.
[499] Cockeris is?
[500] It's a family name.
[501] You can't be able.
[502] Tallest unicycle, that's the one on four wheels.
[503] Double wheel of destiny.
[504] The unicycle would be on one wheel.
[505] But I'm telling you, it was a unicycle stacked up four ways.
[506] Maybe that's a different thing.
[507] It's called the tallest unicycle.
[508] It's four on the human rocket and laughs for the whole family.
[509] Well, that's got to be the clowns.
[510] A juggling.
[511] Yeah.
[512] Where are the clowns at?
[513] Teeter boards.
[514] A lot of fun, Dan.
[515] You, flying carcasses cannot be their name.
[516] Are not allowed to move away.
[517] How's that word pronounced, smarties?
[518] Well, I'm not reading it, and you just read in the letters, but I guarantee you, like, that doesn't, that, they vet that name, and they're like, something that invokes dead bodies?
[519] No, we're not going to do that.
[520] C -A -C -E -R -E -S.
[521] So not C -A -R.
[522] No, the R is after the E. C -A -S.
[523] All right.
[524] This is what I'm about to do.
[525] What a fool I am.
[526] All right.
[527] All right.
[528] Everyone's going to stop talking for a second.
[529] I'm going to talk now.
[530] All right.
[531] Everyone's going to stop talking for a second.
[532] Chris Cody is now going to go into the other room, and he is going to spend the next segment speedwalking in the other room as punishment for what he just did, where he gave Ringling Brothers and...
[533] Ringling.
[534] What?
[535] Go now.
[536] Now would be a good time to go.
[537] Do you know how to speedwalk, Chris?
[538] You need to have a judge out there to make sure he doesn't lift up those toes.
[539] Jessica, you go now too, because I asked to speak, okay?
[540] You go with him.
[541] You can speedwalk with him.
[542] I need you guys to stop interrupting me and allow me to get to where it is I would like to get here, please.
[543] Thank you.
[544] If you can't read something, you do not give a traveling circus their acrobial.
[545] the family name of the flying carcasses because you can't read the word and just want to say a word that you recognize.
[546] I would think that that would be executive producing 101.
[547] If you're not going to say the correct word, don't just choose another word that makes it so now we're going to the circus and seeing flying carcasses.
[548] That's all.
[549] I feel like Chris is just way too flippant about when he can't read.
[550] It's kind of like getting the vice president's name wrong, right?
[551] The other two facts that I wanted to get to that I believe are better than any of the other facts.
[552] For everything that the Marlins are paying all of their players, you cannot afford Memphis Grizzly's Guard Luke Conard for even one season.
[553] And for everything that you are paying the money.
[554] To be honest, so he's probably a liability in the field.
[555] For everything that you're, I should send you out there too, but I'm running out of people for interrupting me. For everything that they are paying all of their Marlins players, you couldn't have bought what Derek Jeter was asking for his New York.
[556] Home.
[557] Yeah, cheap payroll.
[558] It's a cheap payroll.
[559] Jamel Hill next.
