[4] A mystery illness, bizarre symptoms, and spreading fast.

[5] What's the answer?

[6] And what do you do if they tell you it's all in your head?

[7] Hysterical.

[8] A new podcast from Wondry and Pineapple Street Studios.

[10] I just kind of moved in with him instantly because it was the solution to my life.

[11] And it felt like this is the jackpot right now.

[12] I have a place I can crash and it's close to the casino.

[13] I have cocaine and I have some guy that is into me. I was in a halfway house and my world just felt so small.

[14] There was no vision of having a normal life.

[15] I didn't really make goals for myself or anything because I really felt like he was going to find me and kill me. In my purity document, I was like, I promise that I'm not going to hang out with a boy alone.

[16] I promise that I'm going to find an accountability partner and I'm going to check in with them every single week about my purity and my thoughts.

[17] I promised to not masturbate.

[18] When she asked me what the cult was that I was a part of, I told her best.

[19] Bethel, and her face fell.

[20] I was in court for child abuse on my 11th birthday.

[21] I remember going in the chambers speaking to the judge, and he said, well, you look fine to me. I don't see any marks.

[22] And it was so, so dismissive.

[23] So if a judge doesn't believe me, I don't stand a chance.

[24] I want her to listen to it, and I want her to hear every single thing she did.

[25] Do you know what she used to always say to me?

[26] Whenever I was leaving the house, she would say keep your mouth shut, what happens in this house, stays in this house, loose lips sink ships.

[27] So I'm going to write her a letter that says loose lips sink ships.

[28] And that's it.

[29] He's on no sex registry, yet he has this prevalent history of doing this over and over again.

[30] He's just free.

[31] The only thing I've seen is him get arrested for drug or domestic violence, but not murder.

[32] He's already done it once, at least.

[36] Scammers are best known for living the high life until they're forced to trade it all in for handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit once they're finally caught.

[37] I'm Sachi Cole.

[38] And I'm Sarah Haggy, and we're the host of scam influencers, a weekly podcast from Wondery that takes you along the twists and turns of some of the most infamous scams of all time, the impact on victims and what's left once the facade falls away.

[39] We've covered stories like a Shark Tank certified entrepreneur who left the show with an investment, but soon faced mounting bills, an active lawsuit followed by Larry King, and no real product to push.

[40] He then began to prey on vulnerable women instead, selling the idea of a future together while stealing from them behind their backs.

[41] To the infamous scams of Real Housewives stars like Teresa Judice, what should have proven to be a major downfall only seemed to solidify her place in the Real Housewives Hall of Fame.
