[1] It's Thursday, October 6th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] A family of four in Merced County, California, have been found dead after they were kidnapped in Central California.
[3] Law enforcement took a person of interest into custody earlier this week, but there is no known reason for the abduction.
[4] Here's Merced County's sheriff on Thursday.
[5] I said it earlier.
[6] There's a special place in health for this guy.
[7] And, I mean, we got to call at about 5 .30 p .m. There was a farm worker in the area, and during the course of his job duties came across them and made contact.
[8] Stephen Cannon, 26, was sentenced this week to life in prison for the murder of retired St. Louis Police Captain David Dorn during the 2020 George Floyd riots.
[9] He also received an additional 30 years for other crimes in violation of Missouri law.
[10] Dorn's widow, Anne, spoke to the media after the sentencing.
[11] I don't want to say we can move on, and there's no. never going to be full closure, but it brings us peace.
[12] It does.
[13] A team investigating the presumed Nord Stream Pipeline Sabotage on Thursday found that detonations damaged the lines.
[14] In recent days, U .S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has claimed that the sabotage could work out in the West's favor in the long run.
[15] Ultimately, this is also a tremendous opportunity.
[16] It's a tremendous opportunity to once and for all remove the dependence on Russian energy.
[17] This week, the U .S. announced 625 million in additional security assistance for Ukraine's fight against Russia.
[18] Per the Pentagon, the U .S. military has committed more than 16 .8 billion to the Eastern European nation since the beginning of Russia's invasion on February 24th.
[19] The Department of Justice indicted 11 pro -life activists on Wednesday, accusing the individuals of violating the FACE Act in front of an abortion clinic in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
[20] The FBI reportedly conducted a morning raid on Wednesday.
[21] one of the activists.
[22] The arrests come weeks after anti -abortion activist Mark Hauk was arrested in Pennsylvania.
[23] Higher fuel prices are hurting Americans, especially small business owners.
[24] Gas prices are expected to rise again after OPEC announced it would cut back drilling on Wednesday.
[25] In Thailand, a retired police officer is suspected of killing at least 38 people, including at least two dozen children, in a shocking rampage at a daycare center.
[26] The suspect who was facing drug charges, killed himself prior to being apprehended.
[27] And an animal rights protester who stormed onto the field at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California Monday night, has filed a police report for assault after he was leveled by the Los Angeles Rams linebacker, Bobby Wagner.
