[1] It's Monday, July 31st, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] Devin Archer, the former best friend and business partner of Hunter Biden, testified before the House Oversight Committee today.
[3] The testimony took place after weekend speculation that a DOJ letter was meant to keep Archer from giving information about the Biden's business dealings.
[4] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.
[5] In a letter from the Southern District of New York, officials.
[6] said they did not expect the former business partner of Hunter to surrender before his testimony to the House Oversight Committee.
[7] According to the document obtained by the New York Post Miranda Devine, U .S. Attorney Damien Williams told U .S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams, quote, the government does not request and has never requested that the defendant surrendered before his congressional testimony.
[8] The letter also added that the process involved can take several weeks or months after the court sets a surrender date.
[9] As Devine recently reported, Archer was expected to tell the committee members that Hunter Biden would routinely introduce his father to foreign business partners and prospective investors.
[10] Congressman Jim Jordan described the meeting as productive to reporters afterward.
[11] A new poll shows former President Trump with a commanding lead over his rivals in the race for the GOP nomination.
[12] According to the first New York Times Sienna College poll, Trump leads Florida Governor Ron DeSantis 54 % to 17%, while no other candidate got above 3 % support in the poll.
[13] The survey showed that Trump led by wide margins among men and women, younger and older voters, moderates and conservatives, those who went to college and those who didn't, in cities, suburbs, and rural areas.
[14] Carlos Diolavera, the property manager of Trump's Mar -a -Lago estate, made his first court appearance today on charges related to the classified documents case against the former president.
[15] DiLavera, however, did not enter a plea because he has not found an attorney to represent him.
[16] The Mar -a -Lago property manager is accused of scheming with the former president to attempt to delete security footage that was being sought by those investigating Trump's collection of classified documents.
[17] Di Levera was added last week to the indictment with Trump and the ex -presidents of L .A. He faces charges, including conspiracy to obstruct justice and lying to investigators.
[18] In an interview with Fox News, one of Trump's attorneys disputed the claim that the former president demanded that the footage be deleted.
[19] When we get to file our papers, you will see that every single video, every single surveillance tape that was requested was turned over.
[20] If President Trump didn't want something turned over, I assure you that is something that could have been done.
[21] But he never would act like that.
[22] He is the most ethical American I know.
[23] Three of four Muslim converts who were convicted of plotting to bomb New York synagogues and shoot -down planes were ordered to be released from prison by a judge.

[25] U .S. District Judge Colleen McMahon declared their 25 -year sentence, quote, unduly harsh and unjust, and also accused the FBI of radicalizing the three men who are part of the group known as the Newburgh Four.
[26] In her ruling, McMahon slammed the FBI's sting operation that snared the men, whom she wrote were, quote, hapless, easily manipulated, and penurious petty criminals that were set up by the feds and their unreliable informant.
[27] Kathy Manley, a lawyer representing one of the men, told NBC News the FBI set these men up.
[28] I think that the FBI is still doing and has been doing a lot of these unfair sting cases where they prey on mentally ill young men who really are not interested in terrorism.
[29] Trucking company Yellow Corp has ceased operations and according to the Teamsters Union is headed for bankruptcy.
[30] According to the Wall Street Journal, the Nashville -based trucking company shut down operations on Sunday following the layoffs of hundreds of non -union employees on Friday.
[31] In an announcement early Monday, the Teamsters said that the union received legal notice confirming Yellow was ceasing operations and filing for bankruptcy.
[32] No bankruptcy filings were found as of this morning.
[33] A company logistics worker says it was still a shock, even though most employees knew the company was having financial troubles.
[34] Starting all over again, you know, after so many years in one job, it's hard.
[35] A lot of our skills are outdated for me and all of my coworkers, whether or not you have a college degree or not.
[36] Yellow, formerly known as YRC Worldwide Incorporated, is one of the nation's largest trucking companies.
[37] The company's reported closure puts 30 ,000 jobs at risk.
[38] Paul Rubin, the actor best known for his role as the 1980s Children's TV star Pee Wee Herman, died this week after a year's long battle with cancer.
[39] He was 70 years old.
[40] His team released a statement today saying, quote, Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit.
[41] A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and a man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit.
