[2] The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate today for the seventh time this year and signaled that more hikes are on the way.
[3] While the 50 -bases -point hike was smaller than the previous four, it still puts the rate at its highest level in 15 years, further raising the cost of consumer items and the risk of recession.
[4] Lawmakers leading the negotiations on a government funding bill announced late Tuesday they've reached an agreement on a framework for a bill that should allow them to avert a shutdown.
[5] The two chambers need to pass another short -term measure to keep the government running through December 23rd by midnight on Friday, allowing negotiators time to complete work on the full -year bill.
[6] Journalist Grant Wall's cause of death has been revealed following an autopsy after his sudden passing while reporting on the World Cup in Qatar.
[7] Wall's widow, Dr. Selene Grounder, told CBS News on Wednesday that her husband's death was due to a heart condition.
[8] He had an autopsy done here in New York by the New York City Medical Examiner's Office, and it showed that he had an aortic aneurysm that rupturing.

[13] A Dutch court on Wednesday upheld the Netherlands ban on assisted suicide despite an effort from activists who said the prohibition infringes on their right to determine when their lives end.
[14] In a statement, the court said, the right to decide for oneself about one's end of life is indeed protected.
[15] However, this right to self -determination does not go so far that there is also a right to obtain assisted suicide.
[16] A Norwegian woman could spend up to three years in prison for posting on Facebook that men are not able to be lesbians, with authorities arguing that her post -constituted hate speech.
[17] Today marks one decade since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting where a mass shooter claimed the lives of 20 students and six members of staff.
[18] Celebrity Jay Leno spoke with today for the first time since an auto injury left him with severe burns, revealing what happened.
