[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.

[1] It's Wednesday, September 20th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[2] Attorney General Merrick Garland appeared today before the House Judiciary Committee for the first time in two years, and he was questioned about what committee chairman Jim Jordan called a two -tier system of justice.

[3] This comes at a time when the Attorney General is heading up two cases against former President Trump and another case against the current president, Joe Biden's son Hunter.

[4] Republicans questioned the DOJ and FBI's priorities, especially regarding the criminal investigation of the president's son.

[5] Meanwhile, Democrats dismissed the allegations as a sham and Garland defended the actions of the Justice Department.

[6] I am not the president's lawyer.

[7] I will add, I am not Congress's prosecutor.

[8] The Justice Department works for the American people.

[9] Our job is to follow the facts on the law, and that is what we do.

[10] You let the statute of limitations lapse for 2014, 2015.

[11] Those were the years with the felony tax charges where Hunter Biden was getting income from Burisma.

[12] He wasn't qualified to be on the board of Burisma.

[13] Not my words, his words.

[14] He said he got on the board because of his last name.

[15] The brand, as Devin Archer said, when he was under oath and we deposed him.

[16] The Attorney General also claimed that he could not recollect having spoken with anyone in the FBI about the criminal investigation of Hunter.

[17] President Biden met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today for the first time since Netanyahu retook office last year.

[18] Prime Minister Netanyahu was a frequent visitor to the White House during the previous administration and Israeli leaders are usually invited shortly after inauguration.

[19] The delay in setting up a meeting by Biden and the administration's decision to have the meeting in New York instead of D .C. have been viewed by Israel as a sign of U .S. displeasure with Netanyahu's new government.

[20] During remarks to the press before the meeting, the two leaders laid out some of their goals and spoke about the history of their alliance.

[21] We're going to discuss some of the hard issues.

[22] And that is upholding democratic values that lie at the heart of our partnership, including checks and balances in our systems.

[23] And preserving the path to a negotiated two -state solution and ensuring that Iran never, never acquires a nuclear weapon.

[24] We can forge a historic peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

[25] And I think such a peace would go a long way first to advance the end of the Arab -Israeli conflict, achieve reconciliation between the Islamic world and the Jewish state, and advance a genuine peace between Israel and the Palestinian.

[26] This is something within our reach.

[27] Biden administration officials have been critical of Netanyahu's plan to overhaul Israel's judicial system.

[28] Donald Trump Jr.'s ex -account was hacked today and according to his political advisor sent out several fake tweets.

[29] One of the Post falsely claimed that his father, former President Donald Trump, had died and that Donald Trump Jr. was now running for the Oval Office.

[30] Another post appears to attack President Biden while also using a racial slur.

[31] The Post were taken down later.

[32] Two Las Vegas teens are facing murder charges after authorities say they drove into a bicyclist on the side the road, all while capturing the hit and run on video.

[33] Vegas police say they've linked the teens to three other incidents similar in nature that occurred back on August 14th.

[34] Police believe the latest incident, which left a 64 -year -old retired police chief dead, was the latest hit and run the teens committed.

[35] The video, recorded by the front passenger, shows the vehicle approaching the cyclist from behind.

[36] The driver and passenger laugh before steering toward and ramming the cyclist.

[37] Clark County attorney Steve Wolfson says he's taken a personal interest in the case.

[38] In the criminal justice system, if you are a minor and you are eligible to be charged with the crime of murder, you are automatically sent to the adult system.

[39] I am confident that that is what is going to happen in this case.

[40] Police say the video of the fatal hit and run was brought to their attention after a local school resource officer was provided the video by a student.

[41] student.

[42] Paramount Plus has removed a 2009 Russell Brand comedy special that comes amid sexual misconduct accusations made by four women over the weekend.

[43] Brand adamantly denies all the allegations insisting that all the relationships were consensual.

[44] Brand says he's the victim of a coordinated attack by the legacy media.

[45] The move by Paramount comes after YouTube demonetized brand, blocking his ability to make money on the platform and after his agent cut ties with him.

[46] Lawmakers in California, along with truck drivers and union leaders, are urging Governor Gavin Newsom to sign legislation that would save drivers' jobs.

[47] Daily Wire reporter Zach Jewel has more.

[48] The bill, if passed, would ban self -driving vehicles from public roads unless a human driver is on board.

[49] This includes UPS delivery trucks all the way to massive semis.

[50] Supporters of the legislation say it would help put safety concerns at ease and would prevent a massive amount of truck drivers from losing their jobs to automation in the future.

[51] The bill states that these rules would stay in place until at least 2029.

[52] Republican lawmakers say this creates a safe environment to test self -driving capabilities.

[53] Meanwhile, local media outlet KCR reports that Teamsters members, public safety officials, and lawmakers demonstrated at the state capital to encourage the governor to sign this bill.

[54] The technology is not safe.

[55] The technology is not ready.

[56] Now, what's going to happen when they put that unsafe technology and giant trucks, 10 ,000, 20 ,000, 80 ,000 pounds on the freeway next to our kids, next to our families.

[57] Do we want that?

[58] The governor has until October 14th to sign or veto the bill.

[59] All right, those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
