[15] Goodbye.

[16] What should we call this?

[17] My favorite murder quickies?

[18] My favorite murder?

[19] A quick murder?

[22] Wash your hands, please.

[23] Please.

[24] There's so many germs going around this season, everybody.

[25] Don't get murdered by germ.

[26] That's a public service.

[27] Whoa, did you hear that?

[28] Someone's screaming outside of my.

[29] Someone's getting murdered.

[30] Oh, real quick, also, if you go to ferala .com and click on the Amazon banner before you buy your shit off Amazon, we get a little bonus and we really appreciate it, and we don't know all the weird shit you buy.

[31] Like, if you buy, if you buy like duct tape and a shovel, we like to bury a body, we won't even know.

[32] Yeah, that's your private business.

[33] But you buying it through our banner gives us money and feral audio money and maybe enables us to make even a higher quality better researched product for you.

[34] No, never.

[35] I can't do homework.

[36] Okay.

[37] Do you want to go first?

[38] Do you want me to go first?

[39] You can go first.

[40] Okay.

[41] So this week our theme was hiding in plain sight.

[42] So I went to our My Favorite Murder Podcast Facebook group and asked people, their favorite hiding in plane murder, hiding in plane site stuff was someone wrote basically any doctor or nurse murderer that kills multiple people before anyone catches on.

[43] Yes.

[44] And then they, someone said that they love that they are called angels of death because that's the coolest name.

[45] And then another one wrote, BTK is definitely my favorite, worked for ADT, and would install security systems in the homes of people who were scared of BTK, also had a wife and kids, and was a scout leader.

[46] he's like irony murder like the guy putting in your security system it's fucking smart man it's quite something oh you want me to do one more and then you read a murder okay so someone wrote Ian Huntley he was a school caretaker that murdered two 10 year old girls and there's a video that they added of him being interviewed on the TV talking about how devastating it was to the community that someone was murdering girls it's him fucking speaking is he British yes Yes.

[47] Have you seen that?

[48] I think so.

[49] It's fucked up.

[50] That's crazy.

[51] Also, that makes me think of, of course, our friend Ted Bundy, who, because he was good looking and he was very charming, very few people suspected him.

[52] Did we talk about this?

[53] Anne Rule, the crime writer worked with him.

[54] Worked with him.

[55] And he would walk her to her car at night when they lived in Seattle and was like, Anne, you have to be careful.

[56] There's somebody's out there murdering people.

[57] Did she ever ask him why he never?

[58] killed her um well he she he had a very very specific type when it was young like college age women with brunette hair that parted down the middle i did that in jing or i because i was so obsessed with ten bunny and i wanted to look like one of his murder what is wrong with little georgia well you was you know kind of like dancing around in the macab is a very like teen thing to do where it's like how dare i i'll do it anyway dad fuck you it's fun it is fun that's how i felt about it But I was always like, I could check out the Amdeyville Horror book from my grammar school library.

[59] And there was a nun named Sister Rita Rose who was truly like probably 90.

[60] And she still wore a habit, like old school nun.

[61] And she would get so mad that I was checking out Amityville Horror.

[62] Why do you have it?

[63] You should ban the book then.

[64] I know.

[65] It was in our school library.

[66] I was just like, this is the only decent book in here, lady.

[67] Okay.

[68] This is from Sarah D. Hello, Georgia and Karen.

[69] and I love your podcast.

[70] I always feel dumb reading the compliments of the beginning, but I'm going to do it.

[71] And you're wonderful people.

[72] I love your podcast.

[73] You're both hilarious.

[74] My sister introduced me to it, as we both have always been into true crime and murder stories.

[75] I love the dichotomy of being amused and laughing while also being terrified that we do too.

[76] I'm trying to not to be self -conscious about what that says about me. This is my local murder story.

[77] I have to admit, I picked this email because I was just scanning quickly and the fact that she used the word dichotomy in the first paragraph made me pick this.

[78] She's smart, clearly.

[79] Yeah, and I love a nice $10 word.

[80] Okay.

[81] I grew up in Wilsonville, Oregon.

[82] This took place in Oregon City, Oregon, as a teenager.

[83] All of these Portland suburbs felt connected and close.

[84] It was 2001, I was 19, when I first heard of Ashley Pond missing.

[85] It was presumed she ran away.

[86] She was 12 years old.

[87] She was on her way to a bus stop outside her apartment complex and was never seen again.

[88] Two months later, her best friend Miranda Geddes went missing as please people don't she just ran away at 12 yeah yeah i'm going to head to the big city later day try to make it on my own yeah um so two months later her best friend miranda gettis went missing as well the last time her mom saw her she was walking out of the same apartment complex where they also lived heading towards the same bus stop that ashley went missing on the way to the local news exploded with coverage of the missing girls i remember hearing initially they thought perhaps Miranda had run away to join Ashley wherever she was.

[89] How convenient.

[90] Why don't you take the day off?

[91] Go to Applebee's and celebrate you solving something.

[92] Sure.

[93] That was sarcasm.

[94] Take the day off.

[95] You're talking about the cops.

[96] I get it.

[97] Bulletin boards lined every main road in my town and all the adjoining towns with Ashley and Miranda's photos.

[98] The news interviewed their family.

[99] What happened, as I remember, was that 12 -year -old Ashley accused her mom's boyfriend, Ward Weaver III.

[100] of rape.

[101] It's always a boyfriend.

[102] Ward Weaver had a 12 -year -old daughter who was good friends with both Ashley and Miranda, scared of going to prison and being a general disgusting brick.

[103] He raped and murdered her.

[104] His daughter?

[105] That'll show him.

[106] Holy shit.

[107] Okay.

[108] Ward Weaver then enlisted his teenage son to help him dig a giant hole in his backyard where he placed Ashley's body, buried her, then covered the grave with concrete.

[109] He told his friends and reporters that it was a plot for his new hot tub.

[110] Miranda went to Ward Weaver's house looking for her friend.

[111] It was theorized later that he lured her there with promises of seeing Ashley.

[112] Ward Weaver then kidnapped, raped, and murdered Miranda as well.

[113] A few more months went by and Ward Weaver attempted to rape his son, Francis' girlfriend.

[114] His son, Francis' girlfriend.

[115] Oh, his, okay.

[116] Yeah, weird com - I'm sorry.

[117] His son, Francis, his girlfriend, his son called the police and ended up turning his dad in for the attempted rape and the rape and murders of Ashley and Miranda.

[118] When the cops searched his home, they found Ashley under the concrete slab and Miranda was found in a box in the garage.

[119] Local news later showed that when they were interviewing Ward Weaver, he led the interviewer intentionally into the garage and stood in front of the freezer where he stored Miranda while he talked to the reporter.

[120] He also walked her out and across the concrete.

[121] lab, arrogantly taunting them.

[122] There is also footage of him talking gleefully about the slumber parties these girls would have with his daughter.

[123] Fun facts.

[124] This is underneath that.

[125] I love this girl.

[126] Fun facts.

[127] Ward Weaver is the third Ward Weaver.

[128] Second, his father is also in prison in California for murder.

[129] Francis Weaver, who turned his father in back in the day, is now also in prison for murder.

[130] Of course he is.

[131] It was later discovered that Ward Weaver.

[132] was not even Francis's biological father.

[133] He contributes this news to his downward spiral that landed him in prison for killing someone in a drug deal gone wrong.

[134] Wow, man. Some some fucking families.

[135] That's Sarah Dee.

[136] That was a really good email.

[137] Well written.

[138] Yep.

[139] Unbelievable.

[140] I also think other people have written to us about this exact murder.

[141] That's a fuck.

[142] I mean, I just can't imagine being in that town while these people are disappearing and little girls.

[143] Little girls.

[144] and they ran away.

[145] They ran away.

[146] If you disappear on your way to a bus stop, you didn't run away.

[147] And you're 12.

[148] I think that, yeah, that concept of runaways needs to thoroughly be looked into.

[149] I think it's going away.

[150] I think the runaway thing is going away.

[151] Also, I know we talked about this.

[152] A bunch of people had tweeted to us, Samantha B just did an amazing piece on full frontal about untested rape kits.

[153] Oh, there's so many.

[154] And I just retweeted it on our, our on our Twitter page, but it's supposed to be an amazing monologue that she does about about it.

[155] I wonder what I want to just, I want to just volunteer to help those, help test those kids.

[156] Not that I know how to do it, but is there a, is there a at home testing kit?

[157] Just like help with.

[158] Okay, one, let's see, one more, a couple more on this.

[159] Dr. Kermit Gosnell, a female, quote, wellness gynecologist in Philadelphia, who was discovered to have not only been terminating pregnant.

[160] pregnancies unwilling, unwittingly, but also allowing underqualified staff to perform medical tasks, including anesthesia and abortions.

[161] What?

[162] Here's the fun part.

[163] Over 30 jars of fetal feet were found in his office.

[164] Wait.

[165] A female, well, I get it.

[166] I thought Dr. Kermit was a female wellness gynecologist, but he is a female wellness.

[167] A female wellness.

[168] Got it.

[169] What the fuck.

[170] And then, hold on.

[171] Let me read one more.

[208] Goodbye.

[209] Let's see.

[210] Mary Jane Fonder, when old women attack.

[211] person wrote.

[212] She thought a lady was having an affair with her pastor whom she most definitely had a crush on.

[213] So she shot her all caps in the church office.

[214] Oh.

[215] Yep.

[216] Pretty fucked up.

[217] Nice.

[218] We've got an H .H. Holmes going on.

[219] Beautiful.

[220] He's a legend.

[221] If you haven't read the book, The Devil in the White City, please read it.

[222] I just heard that Leonardo DiCaprio's company bought the rights to make a movie about it.

[223] They think he'll be a great H .H. Holmes.

[224] Yeah, right?

[225] Get him a nice curly mustache, like somebody at a, like some kind of mixologist.

[226] Can I do one more?

[227] Because I actually was almost going to do this case for our episode is Juanita Hoyt.

[228] She did case studies.

[229] She murdered nine of her children.

[230] And they kept saying it was SIDS.

[231] Nine.

[232] I think it was nine of her kids.

[233] And then one of her adopted kids died.

[234] of the same heart defect that they were saying that these kids kept dying up if it's not your biological child they're dying from this rare heart defect it's fucking murder clearly did it say where that where she lived where that took place no but there's an episode that of autopsy where they talk about this because my mom uh worked at kaiser san raphael california and uh there was a woman who was bringing her children in after it happened to her second child she brought one into the emergency room it's so sick we don't know what's wrong oh my god oh my god the child she's there for like four days and then the child dies and then uh a year later her new infant same thing happens the child dies then and that time they start looking into it and she was feeding the children milk with ground glass in it because she had um much houses by proxy which is the disease that you have when you need other people to be sick so you get the sympathy just get munchausen and fucking kill yourself right just do them Don't do the by proxy.

[235] Yeah, but it's about, they're such insane narcissists, that it's, they love sympathy so much.

[236] It's fascinating that, that you just need to be the center of attention that much.

[237] Like what, it's just different parts of our brain could just get a little overgrown or some strange cell floats through us, gets stuck, and suddenly you are a total lunatic.

[238] Or you have these experiences as a child that reroute your, your neurons.

[239] And so you think that these certain things are okay.

[240] I think those are the same people who write horrible comments on YouTube.

[241] On YouTube.

[242] Those awful fucking people.

[243] No, that's just their teen -year -old boys that are home alone and they don't know what else to do with their frustrations.

[244] Should that be our mini murder?

[245] Murder mini?

[246] Yeah.

[247] Was it many enough?

[248] I think so.

[249] How long was that?

[250] Oh, that's not that many.
