The Facility XX
[0] Good morning to you.
[1] Welcome to the facility.
[2] We got a jam -packed schedule behind us.
[3] I got to get to the desk.
[4] I got to get to the desk urgently.
[5] Now, look, fellas, it's been 24 hours.
[6] My emotions have subsided.
[7] My anger has calmed a little bit.
[8] The trade that shocked the world, the trade that shocked Dallas Mavericks, the trade, Luka Doncic, maybe the biggest trade in the history of the NBA.
[9] We still have to discuss it, but now I can discuss it.
[10] from a more level head.
[11] Shady taught me how to woosah.
[12] Shady taught me how to woosah.
[13] That's Eagles Hall of Famer LaShawn Shady McCoy.
[14] That's James Jones on the far end.
[15] And to the right, Chase Daniel.
[16] Top of the morning to all of you all.
[17] Top of the morning to all of you.
[18] Shady, I was thinking this.
[19] I was thinking this.
[20] It wasn't this.
[21] I was at my agency yesterday when I ran into the person most in the know of this Luka Doncic Anthony Davis name.
[22] I won't say his name, but he's very rich.
[23] No pun intended.
[24] Pun intended.
[25] So I ran into him yesterday and was just doing some talking about this whole trade.
[26] And I had the thought, Shady, what would it take?
[27] Now that this trade has kind of subsided, the shock value of it, what would it take for the Mavericks to actually win the Luka AD trade?
[28] Because they look foolish right now.
[29] With these next three years, if the Mavs can pull it off and go to either Western Conference Finals or a Finals.
[30] I think the fans will be okay with that because that's everywhere that Luka took you, right?
[31] And you're not spending as much money.
[32] I think if you can do that, you can add some pieces to this roster.
[33] I mean, listen, nobody likes this deal.
[34] Nobody likes this trade, right?
[35] Luka is a superstar box office type player.
[36] Top three, in my opinion.
[37] But the fans stay loyal to the franchise.
[38] That's how it works.
[39] Right now, they're mad.
[40] They're upset.
[41] They're crying.
[42] They're complaining.
[43] They're tweeting.
[44] They're X -ing.
[45] They're Instagramming and all that.
[46] But...
[47] When they start winning games and they start rolling, right?
[48] And they start seeing AD block shots, get dunks, alley hoops from Kyrie to AD.
[49] They start making some match.
[50] They start winning and they get to the playoffs.
[51] They start winning again.
[52] The fans are like, okay, well, Luka, we love you still.
[53] But our team is doing well.
[54] So for this thing to work out well, I think in these next three years, they got to accomplish two of them things.
[55] Western Conference Finals.
[56] Not every three years, two years.
[57] Western Conference Finals or Finals.
[58] It's the same place where Luka took me. That's a chance to win it all.
[59] That's well said.
[60] I think two things as well.
[61] I'm going to speak from a Dallas native.
[62] I don't think it's those two things, but I do think it's two things.
[63] Here is the only way I, as a born and bred Mavs fan, will be okay with this Luka Doncic trade.
[64] If the Mavs go on to win more championships than Luka during the course of Luka's career.
[65] That's the first thing.
[66] And Luka cannot retire as a top 15 player.
[67] Because if Luka retires as a top 15 player, and top 15 kind of based upon where that subjective cutoff is, is really two MVPs and a finals MVP or so.
[68] Luka can't retire as one of those all -time greats.
[69] If he retires as an all -time great, I as a Mavericks fan will always think to myself, dang, we traded away an all -time great.
[70] Here is why I do not think the Mavericks have any plausible chance of winning the trade.
[71] Because if you look at some of the historical greats that got four All -MBAs by the time they're 25, look at what they did after 25.
[72] Jordan still won six chips and four MVPs.
[73] Braun won four chips and two MVPs.
[74] Duncan won four chips and an MVP.
[75] Kobe won two chips and a sole MVP.
[76] And KD won two chips.
[77] So what I'm telling y 'all is Luka is still destined for anywhere from two chips and no MVPs.
[78] To six chips and four MVPs.
[79] Because that is what the company that Luka has kept achieved after they turned 25.
[80] And Luka achieved more than most of them prior to 25.
[81] So I do not see a realistic chance that the Mavericks actually can win this trade.
[82] But the only way they can do it, they got to win more chips than Luka does.
[83] Look, I'm a Mavs fan too for life.
[84] Like, Reunion Arena, like, I ride and die with them.
[85] They're the only team I follow really in the NBA.
[86] So when...
[87] The news of Luka getting traded, it hit home for me because my son, Preston, he has a Luka Doncic jersey for the Mavericks.
[88] Okay, that's a relic now.
[89] And so I don't think they can win the trade no matter what happens.
[90] Like, I think it'll eventually come down to who wins more championships.
[91] But even in the short term, like, I don't think people understand the shock and awe of what Dallas fans are going through right now.
[92] Like, maybe if they win a title within two years, that's great.
[93] But you have Kyrie, who's 33.
[94] It feels like he's been in the league forever.
[95] You have 80, who's 32.
[96] He's brilliant.
[97] He's missed 27 % of the games in his career in the last six and a half seasons.
[98] And then Klay, who's 35.
[99] So they might have a run together of two to three years.
[100] Luka's 25 years old.
[101] He's the next statue player of the Lakers, dude.
[102] Like, he's going to end up in a top 15 greatest.
[103] I truly believe that based on how he started his career.
[104] Now, the only thing that gives me a little bit of solace, and I'm not really a Lakers fan, is that it's no guarantee the Lakers win a title with Luka because Luka got us there, but then got smoked in the finals 4 -1 by the Celtics, right?
[105] Like, eventually, maybe they build it up like that.
[106] But there have been complaints about the conditioning.
[107] There have been complaints about the defense.
[108] We don't know, like, that's going to change.
[109] Maybe he gets around LeBron for his next last two years, and he's like, learn something.
[110] How to take care of your body.
[111] I spend $3 million, $4 million a year on my body.
[112] Luka, maybe he comes next year to training camp.
[113] He's 230 instead of 260, and he's chiseled.
[114] You never know that, right?
[115] But as a Dallas fan, I don't think there's any stretch of imagination where the Mavs have won this trade.
[116] You traded away one of the greatest players in this little generation that we have right now.
[117] I agree with Chase.
[118] There's nothing.
[119] There's nothing that they can do.
[120] Even if they win a championship, you're talking about a dude that sells out the arena year in and year out.
[121] Like, hey, basketball season's starting.
[122] Hey, man, we going to watch Luka.
[123] Like, that's gone.
[124] So if you win a championship, you are going to have to watch Luka for the next 10 years go to work.
[125] Because that's all we see Luka do in his career right now is go to work.
[126] All NBA after all NBA after all NBA after all NBA.
[127] Since he's been in the NBA, took you to the Western Conference Finals, took you to the finals, there's nothing they can do.
[128] For the next 10 years, you are going to have to watch Luka.
[129] For a couple years, you're going to have to watch Luka and LeBron.
[130] But for the next 10 years, they are going to put some pieces around Luka in L .A. And you are going to have to watch Luka go to work.
[131] Do you know every time Luka goes for 30 and 10, how mad these Dallas fans is going to be?
[132] I'm already mad.
[133] You understand what I'm saying?
[134] They're not going to be worried about A .D. doing alley -oops and all that type stuff.
[135] They are going to be upset that we let this dude leave our franchise.
[136] I was supposed to have a statue three feet away from Dirk, so when we come to the Dallas arena, we take pictures in front of it.
[137] That is...
[138] gone now.
[139] And they're going to have to watch that for the next 10 years.
[140] In my humble opinion, Shady, I know you disagree, but championship or not, they can't win this.
[141] That doesn't make sense, though.
[142] Like, and y 'all my brother, so I can give y 'all a hard love, right?
[143] Y 'all talking like fans.
[144] Y 'all talking like fans that's hurt.
[145] Why are you training my brother?
[146] That's why y 'all talking.
[147] You sitting up there telling us it don't matter how many championships they win, it's a bad trade.
[148] How do that make sense?
[149] Listen, I think Luke is a phenomenal player, one of the best in this league.
[150] You can't tell me that when they traded him, right, it's a bad deal for sure.
[151] We know that.
[152] No doubt.
[153] Y 'all all three said if they win a championship in the next three years that the Mavs can't win that trade?
[154] They got to win more than Luka.
[155] That's where I'm at with it.
[156] They have to win more than Luka.
[157] If the Mavs win one, J .D., and Luka goes on to win four as a Mavericks fan, he didn't win that trade.
[158] But what I'm saying is, like, sports is year to year.
[159] I don't know if Luke is going to be doing this in 10 years.
[160] I think so.
[161] We don't know.
[162] I know he don't take care of his body.
[163] I know that he's a great player.
[164] But eventually, we break down if you don't take care of your body.
[165] There's a lot of great players that have great starts because they're really good.
[166] But if you don't take care of your body, you won't be the LeBron James, the Kobe Bryant, the Michael Jordan.
[167] Of course.
[168] You don't get there.
[169] Of course.
[170] Right?
[171] So I live in the moment right now, today.
[172] And I'm saying today, if the Mavs the next two years goes to the finals, to the Western College finals, and they win a championship.
[173] They don't win the trade.
[174] How are they going to score?
[175] How are they going to score?
[176] Not even the house.
[177] Not even that.
[178] They don't win the trade.
[179] What are we talking about?
[180] Here's why I'll say no. They got scores.
[181] Think about it.
[182] Even in this generation, I remember when the Lakers traded away Shaquille O 'Neal.
[183] Cool.
[184] Let's talk about this.
[185] Shaq went and won.
[186] Bam.
[187] He won one quick.
[188] He won one in Miami two years later.
[189] Bam.
[190] Got it done.
[191] Stop.
[192] Stop right there.
[193] So when he did that.
[194] Who you thought wouldn't have traded?
[195] At that point in time, Shaq.
[196] Okay, all right.
[197] Kobe was trying to figure it out.
[198] Kobe and LA, because they was muddling.
[199] They was muddling.
[200] I was all Western Conference back then.
[201] But you have enough knowledge to know how it really go.
[202] Because when Kobe back, Jordan went back to bat and ended up with five of them things.
[203] And Shaq retired with four of them things.
[204] And Shaq ended up finishing his career with the great Shaquille O 'Neal.
[205] Obviously, no disrespect.
[206] Finished his career as a journeyman.
[207] I think he ended up playing on eight or so teams.
[208] Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers.
[209] What I'm suggesting is, obviously the Lakers and obviously Kobe, God rest his soul, ended up netting positive on that trade.
[210] We thought Shaq won because Shaq won quickly.
[211] So even if the Mavericks win one chip next year or this year, in the event Luka goes on to win one to two or three, it's the same parallel to five.
[212] No, no, no. But listen, that's a great point, right?
[213] But I can't put everybody on Kobe Bryant's level.
[214] Of course not.
[215] So talent -wise, maybe him and Luka's the same, but the mental part?
[216] Oh, no. You get what I'm saying?
[217] So I'm going to leave Kobe out of this.
[218] Please.
[219] Because I'm going to Kobe none.
[220] Leave him over there.
[221] All I'm saying is, to his point, he's right.
[222] Right?
[223] I guess the long journey of it, yeah.
[224] But.
[225] Tomorrow ain't guaranteed, dog.
[226] Of course not.
[227] All right, so what I'm saying is, if this Mavs team, in the next two years, because I don't think the Lakers is winning in the next two years.
[228] No. When Brown leaves and they can figure out how to make everything about Luka, it'll be different.
[229] Anyway, but I'm saying right now today, if the Mavs in the next two years win a championship or go to Western Conference Finals, or even the finals, they're winning that trade right now.
[230] How about this, though?
[231] How about this, though?
[232] Real quick, let me hit him in his heart.
[233] Let me hit him in his heart.
[234] Here's why I'm just sure excited, because...
[235] Again, both of these teams are winners.
[236] We will talk about these teams ad nauseum for the next four days.
[237] Eagles, Chiefs.
[238] Yeah.
[239] Current Chiefs head coach, Andy Reid.
[240] Former Eagles head coach, Andy Reid.
[241] If I'm not mistaken, the Eagles won a Super Bowl before Andy Reid did.
[242] Yes.
[243] Eagles in 2017 won a Super Bowl with Doug Peterson.
[244] But Andy...
[245] Went ahead and won in 19, got Shady as first one.
[246] Shout out to Andy Reid.
[247] And is now looking at going back to back to back.
[248] So you could have suggested in 2017, shout out to the Eagles.
[249] But Andy Reid is looking like he won the parting of ways.
[250] But you speak on it like it's easy to do.
[251] It's not.
[252] You know what I'm saying?
[253] You speak on it like, oh, this is...
[254] It can happen.
[255] I mean, it can.
[256] I got to see that.
[257] Andy Reid is different, right?
[258] I see him.
[259] Luka's different, 2 -5.
[260] Luka's different.
[261] And he is.
[262] He is, right?
[263] I just need to see it.
[264] That's all.
[265] I like winning now.
[266] You know what I mean?
[267] He's playing and winning for the future.
[268] And Luka couldn't do it because Luka is that special.
[269] But I got to go with what's going on now.
[270] So really quick, because the odds say that it's going to go this way.
[271] The odds say it's going to go Luka playing 10 years of elite basketball, no championships.
[272] Because he ain't showing us he can win one yet.
[273] That's exactly what I said.
[274] No, it's true facts.
[275] He's showing us he can play elite basketball and not win a championship yet.
[276] That's not what the odds say.
[277] That is what the odds say.
[278] He's been in the league for five, six years.
[279] He ain't won one.
[280] LeBron hadn't won one in his first five to six.
[281] Jordan hadn't won one in his first five to six.
[282] The odds don't suggest that.
[283] The odds suggest you get better.
[284] And if you ask the year after that they going to win a championship, you wouldn't have said yeah.
[285] You would have said no because they ain't showed you.
[286] I would have said eventually, though, James.
[287] You know it.
[288] I'm not saying eventually he can't do it.
[289] I'm just saying right now we're saying, like, if he goes to three, four championships, he ain't showed us that, Ocho.
[290] He ain't Kobe, Ocho.
[291] He not Bron, Ocho.
[292] He not MJ, Ocho.
[293] We can't say this.
[294] MJ's first six.
[295] He didn't have no chips.
[296] So really quick, though.
[297] He had no chips.
[298] Am I lying?
[299] You're not lying.
[300] You're telling the truth.
[301] But really quick, though.
[302] If they win a championship and Luka plays 10 years of elite basketball, all NBA.
[303] and they don't win a championship in L .A., but the Mavs win a championship and they have 10 bad years, who wins the trade?
[304] One championship.
[305] Because I think that's more realistic.
[306] Because he has not shown – when Shaq left, they've been to championships.
[307] You understand what I'm saying?
[308] So we can see – we've seen Kobe in the championship.
[309] And we know Kobe and Luke are different.
[310] So my thing is, I think it's more realistic to say he'll have 10 all -NBA seasons and might not win a chip.
[311] The Mavs might get a chip.
[312] So what would you rather take, a championship and 10 average years or 10 special seasons?
[313] Here's why I vehemently, vehemently, vehemently, vehemently disagree with that.
[314] The odds actually suggest if you keep the great player, assuming he is as great as we think he is, if you keep him around long enough, Jokic, you'll win a chip.
[315] Giannis, you'll win a chip.
[316] The odds actually suggest that the great player, if they stay there long enough, Aaron Rodgers, you'll win a chip.
[317] That's what the odds actually suggest.
[318] Not, well, you haven't won it in your first five, so you'll never win it.
[319] It actually suggests your career arc will do this.
[320] If you stay here and you stay at an elite level, the chip will come to you.
[321] So since you keep comparing players and all that, right?
[322] Let me do some comparison, though.
[323] Because when I watch the Colbys, right, young and old, I can see some MJ in them.
[324] Oh, okay.
[325] I see him getting better and better, better attitude, right?
[326] He's going to make sure we get it right.
[327] When I watch Luka, I see a phenomenal, great offensive player like James Harden, though.
[328] True fact.
[329] Yeah.
[330] Right?
[331] We ain't going to play no defense.
[332] We ain't going to hustle.
[333] We're going to do men, but one -on -one stuff, dribble, dribble, dribble, right?
[334] Open guy opportunity here and there, but I'm going to shoot this ball.
[335] So when I watch Luka, I look as a great offensive weapon.
[336] But when I look at MJ and them dudes, even Giannis, I look at dudes that got a different type of dog on both sides of the court.
[337] I'm going to do whatever it takes to win.
[338] LeBron James, I'm going to spend $10 million for my bike so I make sure I get them wins.
[339] I get the championships.
[340] But I don't see that.
[341] I don't see the, for example, because I've been looking into this thing, right?
[342] Because, like, I try to take my heart out of it because when I seen the trade, I was so mad.
[343] Because I hate when organizations trade great players.
[344] You know what I mean?
[345] Because you play with this dude's life.
[346] But then when I listen to what the GM was saying and some of the coaching and all that, and it's like.
[347] They said he's a young player that had great success.
[348] Took her team to the finals, West Campus finals.
[349] They said, but in the finals, he was a liability on defense, not hustling, et cetera.
[350] He had a knee injury a little bit, right?
[351] Due to not taking care of his body.
[352] They said, you know what?
[353] He going to change because he's so young, right?
[354] Because the young guys like the Colbys and the Jordans and LeBrons, when they lost in defeat.
[355] They did whatever it took to get better to that top and get over that hump.
[356] But when you watch Luka, I don't see that.
[357] He showed us that.
[358] To me, Luka looks the same every year.
[359] Great offensively.
[360] You know what I'm saying?
[361] He looks the same.
[362] Here's why I must again disagree with you, 2 -5, is this.
[363] Like, we've seen Luka and the Mavericks do this.
[364] Right.
[365] Right.
[366] Regardless of how it looks.
[367] Remember, Luka's first year as a rookie, the Mavericks were terrible.
[368] Luka wasn't really doing nothing.
[369] Then by Luka's second year, I think they missed the playoffs.
[370] Luka's third year, now he goes to the Clippers, I think he gets bounced.
[371] By Luka's fifth year, I think he beats the Suns and he gets to the Western Conference Finals.
[372] Then by last year, he goes to the Finals.
[373] So, Shady, we're seeing this.
[374] But does he look the same?
[375] All these years, does he look the same?
[376] The results look different.
[377] The results look different.
[378] I didn't ask you results.
[379] I asked you.
[380] Here's why it's results.
[381] Okay, don't answer my question.
[382] Okay, does he look the same?
[383] Sometimes you see skinny Luka and sometimes you don't.
[384] Skinny Luka is literally a thing.
[385] It's not a thing for no reason.
[386] Stereotypes have to some degree truth.
[387] So Shady is not wrong.
[388] But what I care about, and you more than anybody care about results, the way you carry the ball, it looks different.
[389] But you don't fumble.
[390] So the way Luka is on the court, yeah, I understand how you're saying like Luka still looks like a defensive viability.
[391] The defensive liability.
[392] He don't hustle.
[393] You're talking about his effort.
[394] Yo, you can't be the star player.
[395] You keep trying to compare Mayhem because I guess we was different and all that.
[396] But, like, I had a lot of yards.
[397] That was my thing.
[398] I'm trying to run this ball, man. I'm trying to get catches.
[399] I'm trying to score.
[400] But if I got a block, I'm going to block.
[401] Get what I'm saying?
[402] So, let's translate that to basketball.
[403] Yo, I'm going to score.
[404] I'm Luka.
[405] I'm doing all this passing.
[406] No looks.
[407] Alley hoops.
[408] I'm shooting the ball.
[409] Threes and all that.
[410] 30 points in the first half.
[411] But when it's time for me to hustle in the second half, I'm not.
[412] I'm not.
[413] Play a little defense, I'm not.
[414] And I watch him every single year, he looks the same.
[415] He's a phenomenal, great player for sure.
[416] No doubt.
[417] But what I'm saying is like, when you keep trying to compare the Jordan's and the Kobe's and LeBron's, I've seen these guys, not only the results elevate, I've seen them elevate.
[418] Did you not see that?
[419] A thousand percent.
[420] So when you try to compare these, you can't because I don't know if - You don't know what he's gonna be.
[421] I don't know if Luka's going to put the extra money in or extra time in to get his body together.
[422] I don't know if he's going to put the extra time in to place effort defense.
[423] I don't know if he's going to do that.
[424] But we've seen his game elevate.
[425] Offensively.
[426] Offensively.
[427] That's all he talks about.
[428] As a player, and I'm a Mass fan, we have seen the same Luka, and he's elevated the team, and he's taken more.
[429] We haven't seen the effort in the defense.
[430] change at all, and I think that's ultimately what the Mavs are just pissed off about because they haven't seen change from now.
[431] But you're comprised of all of your skill sets.
[432] So, James, if we have seen him go from averaging 28 points per game to 30 points per game to 33 points per game.
[433] He is elevated.
[434] Effort, though.
[435] I can be a good defender by effort.
[436] He has elevated his game.
[437] Now, Shady and Chase are right.
[438] I'm not disagreeing at all.
[439] Luka has not elevated his defensive game enough.
[440] For effort.
[441] Now, I would also suggest that when you're putting up 35 points per game in a playoffs and 33 points per game in a regular season, you might be a little bit more fatigued.
[442] You might just be a little bit more fatigued.
[443] I would suggest that.
[444] So really quick, though.
[445] But you're right.
[446] No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Before you go, because you're not getting away with that.
[447] Because he ain't the only guy to be averaging 30s in the playoffs and all that, right?
[448] He had the highest...
[449] I'm going to say it again.
[450] I'm going to say it again.
[451] He's not the only guy to average...
[452] No, in the history of the playoffs.
[453] Oh, okay.
[454] Because I've seen Jordan not only give you them 30s and all that, I'm going to guard one of your top scorers down here.
[455] Kobe!
[456] Do I got to go with him?
[457] So can we stop it right there, too?
[458] I know my ball, dog.
[459] Because right now, I feel like we're giving Luka too much credit.
[460] Because he's not them.
[461] Stop.
[462] Too much crap.
[463] Listen to me. Listen to me. Listen to me, man. He is not them athletically.
[464] Say that.
[465] Say that.
[466] Let me talk.
[467] Damn.
[468] Y 'all cut me off.
[469] He is not them athletically.
[470] So on the defensive side of the ball, it's a different athletic ability.
[471] We asking Luka to do something he can't do.
[472] Luka can't stay in front of Tatum or Jaden Brown.
[473] He's not.
[474] athletically built like that.
[475] No, and I understand effort -wise sometimes you want him to look like he's playing hard.
[476] Steph was terrible at defense, one -on -one defense, but he looked like he, you know, he looked like he tried.
[477] I understand that.
[478] But athletically, Luka is not Kobe Bean Bryant or Michael Jordan.
[479] Can you control your diet?
[480] Can you control your...
[481] You can't control your quick twitch.
[482] Bro, you can control your weight.
[483] You can control your diet.
[484] You can control your conditioning.
[485] The Mavs fired in back -to -back years.
[486] They're a strength and conditioning coach because they sided with Luka because Luka didn't want to work out.
[487] At the end of the day...
[488] And they said something's going to change.
[489] Diet or not, I can never run a 4 -4.
[490] He can be more athletic.
[491] I'm going to add a 5 .7 % body fat.
[492] If you were 300 pounds right now...
[493] I'm going to run a 4 -4.
[494] If you were 300 pounds right now...
[495] 265?
[496] If you are 300 pounds right now and you get down to 225, you're going to be faster and quicker, even regardless of it, at 300.
[497] Here's why I agree with...
[498] Look, it's 265.
[499] Let me agree with James.
[500] Can I agree with James?
[501] Anybody agree with James yet?
[502] Let me agree with my dog, James, real quick.
[503] Let me agree with my dog.
[504] Y 'all know me. Track my first love.
[505] And this is an athleticism conversation.
[506] Track coaches, Olympic track coaches have told me and have told others, I can make you faster.
[507] I can't make you fast.
[508] To James' point, Luka is not athletic.
[509] He's just not.
[510] And so we can talk about diet and all that.
[511] The quick twitch fibers, you can't do nothing about that.
[512] That's God -given.
[513] Shady wasn't cut on a dime because he was on a ladder.
[514] You can make it to him.
[515] Shady was cut on a dime because Shady was born cutting on a dime.
[516] Ain't no icky shuffles.
[517] Ain't no in and outs.
[518] Shady can just cut on a dime because he can cut on a dime.
[519] So let's keep the basketball.
[520] You brought up Steph Curry.
[521] That's my favorite player, right?
[522] We would say that on defense, this is the worst part of the game.
[523] Of course.
[524] So, I'm going to stick it back a little bit, right?
[525] Because, you know, I'm going to say this basketball thing.
[526] So, when they was playing the Cavs, that spare moment where they kept going back and forth, what was the Cavs' game plan on offense?
[527] Attack and Steph.
[528] Attack and Steph.
[529] Right.
[530] They made all these pick and rolls to get to Steph.
[531] If you want Steph play, he's running from the screens back and forth because I don't want to get the change off, right?
[532] That's called effort.
[533] I'm trying my best.
[534] He can't guard them dudes, Tatum and them dudes.
[535] But I did watch him beat them in the finals, right?
[536] He plays some type of defense.
[537] I'm going to go another thing.
[538] You keep bringing up Michael Jordan, which I hate it, right?
[539] Because Jordan averaged more points than Luka.
[540] I don't know if you know them playoffs.
[541] I don't know if you know them or not, okay?
[542] So if you know them, cool.
[543] He's number one.
[544] Luka's number two.
[545] Right.
[546] So look, look.
[547] Michael Jordan lost to what team three times in the playoffs?
[548] The Pistons.
[549] The Pistons.
[550] He couldn't get past them, right?
[551] What did he do?
[552] That forfeit, what did he do?
[553] He got in that weight room.
[554] They keep beating me up.
[555] They beat me up every single game.
[556] The joint rule, you remember that?
[557] Of course.
[558] He come out of his lane, you whoop his tail.
[559] Cool.
[560] I'm complaining about it.
[561] My team, we're complaining about it.
[562] You know what?
[563] I'm done with all that.
[564] Done with all that.
[565] I'm going to put an extra 10 pounds on a muscle.
[566] And then when I see them boys for the fourth time, do you know what happened?
[567] Beat them.
[568] They beat them.
[569] So what I'm telling you, Acho, is I hear what you're saying.
[570] Maybe.
[571] You can't, the way you diet or the way you take your body, you might can't run a 4 -4, but if you say you run a 4 -7, maybe you can run a 4 -7 every single play, though.
[572] Getting better shape.
[573] And my thing is, when you look at Michael Jordan, yo, he couldn't beat them dudes.
[574] So what did he do?
[575] He got that mentality and got in that gym, dog.
[576] Put that 10 pounds on.
[577] Luka hasn't shown that in six years.
[578] All I'm saying is Luka don't show me that.
[579] When I watch Luka, he's a phenomenal offensive player.
[580] But his game hasn't changed for me. I don't see no effort.
[581] I don't see no defense.
[582] I just can't, I can't be a true fan to this sport and just defer because he's a great player.
[583] Offensively, he's one of the greats I've ever seen.
[584] But, dog, eventually, you got to step your game up like the other greats did.
[585] And you can't just flip the switch, neither, though.
[586] You know what I'm saying?
[587] It's not just a flip a switch.
[588] He done had five, six years to flip a switch, and he hasn't flipped that switch yet.
[589] The only reason why this trade was made because of what, Acho?
[590] Ooh.
[591] Ooh.
[592] Ooh.
[593] The only reason you can sit up here and say we want to make this trade for AD is strictly defense.
[594] Yeah.
[595] That's it.
[596] And we're not saying you're the best player.
[597] No, no, no. Because they're sitting there saying we got Klay that can shoot.
[598] We got Kyrie that can take anybody off the dribble with the ball.
[599] Now you get an elite defender and an offensive player.
[600] That is the only reason you sit here and make this trade.
[601] You don't sit here and make this trade and say.
[602] I think he got a little bit better offense.
[603] Time will tell.
[604] The only reason you make this trade is you say, we need to get better on defense.
[605] He's a liability on defense.
[606] We got to the finals last year, and he was a liability.
[607] They was trying to get to him.
[608] Knee hurt or not, he ain't never been good on defense.
[609] That's the only reason why this trade was made.
[610] I don't think Luka will ever – I think Luka is predisposed to not being a good defensive player.
[611] I agree.
[612] He's heavy -footed and he has to play.
[613] You can work at your – Hold on.
[614] What about trying?
[615] He can't try.
[616] You can't work.
[617] On defense, right?
[618] Chase, hold on.
[619] Chase, slow quarterbacks are slow quarterbacks.
[620] Not always.
[621] Period.
[622] Peyton Manning is never going to be fast.
[623] Tom Brady was never going to be fast.
[624] Slow quarter.
[625] You can work.
[626] Chad Sankin was never going to be fast.
[627] Quarterbacks don't play defense.
[628] Slow quarter.
[629] What I'm saying is heavy -footed people.
[630] It's way different.
[631] Heavy -footed people are heavy -footed people.
[632] You can get less heavy -footed, though.
[633] But you're still going to be heavy -footed.
[634] But you can still get less heavy -footed.
[635] Can I ask you this, though?
[636] But you can't.
[637] You're going to get all that extra agility.
[638] No, no, no, no. I'm not getting fast.
[639] Hold up, fellas.
[640] We're only talking about one part of defense.
[641] You're talking about on -ball guarding, right?
[642] Yes.
[643] There's so many times where the ball's on the left side, Luke was on the right side.
[644] He's watching you dribble.
[645] His guy goes right to the basket, throw him.
[646] Backdoor cutting and everything.
[647] It's like zero defense.
[648] So stop talking about the heavy foot stuff, all right?
[649] But that's the worst part of it.
[650] That's the worst part.
[651] That's the worst part.
[652] He don't show you no effort.
[653] None of that.
[654] That's how many times dudes begin last.
[655] He'd be like, oh.
[656] But if he had off -ball defense, he'd be better.
[657] But you know what, though?
[658] Maybe this is a great.
[659] opportunity because LeBron will get on.
[660] That's what I'm saying.
[661] Yes.
[662] He's been the star everywhere.
[663] I'm the dude.
[664] I don't know, dawg.
[665] LeBron.
[666] We got to, bro.
[667] It's the first time ever LeBron James history since he's been 18, 19 years old.
[668] When they don't talk to you about nothing, they make a trade and they even ask you?
[669] That happened.
[670] Well, they not going to win there.
[671] If LeBron ain't going to get on him, then they're going to be first round.
[672] Hey, we got to go to break.
[673] We got to go to break.
[674] Hey, when we return, obviously we got the huge game coming up in just five days from now, the Super Bowl.
[675] So do we trust Jalen Hurts to go blow for blow with Patrick Mahomes?
[676] That's next and up again.
[677] Let's do it.
[678] Hey, don't forget.
[679] It's on Everyday Fox Sports Channel.
[680] Serious XM.
[681] Can we just win the game?
[682] Why are you going to put the pressure on my board?
[683] Well, the Chiefs stay in the Super Bowl and the Eagles, they back for their second time in three years.
[684] That's the man right there, Jalen Hurts.
[685] The other one, Patrick Mahomes, facing off for the second time in just three years.
[686] But now the question is this, they are the horses driving the team, but take a listen to Jalen Hurts on the matchup.
[687] Coach Spags has always done a great job.
[688] I got a ton of respect for him.
[689] They got great players, great front seven, great defensive back, very defensive back group.
[690] Very disruptive group.
[691] And so it'll be a great challenge for us.
[692] Talking quarterback.
[693] So let's talk to the quarterback.
[694] Chase, do you trust Jalen Hurts to go blow for blow for Patty in the Super Bowl?
[695] Blow for blow.
[696] That blow.
[697] Well, I actually do.
[698] I actually do.
[699] Because what happened last time when Jalen Hurts was in the Super Bowl?
[700] Blow for blow.
[701] He went blow for blow.
[702] with one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
[703] Now, three rushing touchdowns, one passing, right?
[704] But he had 375 total yards.
[705] He had a rushing touchdown with 515 left in the game and then a two -point conversion to tie it at 35 with five minutes left in the biggest game in the world.
[706] So why can't he do it again?
[707] Now, this is going to, without a doubt, be his toughest test of his career because I think this Spags defense understands how to play Jalen Hurts.
[708] You got to keep him in the pocket.
[709] You've got to play zone.
[710] You've got to play man. You've got to blitz him.
[711] I think they will blitz him early.
[712] And I think how Jalen Hurts handles the blitz early in the game will go a long way to say if they're going to win or not.
[713] But we can say and we've said whatever we want about Jalen Hurts, the quarterback.
[714] Does it look a certain way?
[715] Does he throw the ball like this?
[716] Is he throwing for 300?
[717] No. He's...
[718] doing a great job of leading the team and making plays when he has to make them.
[719] In my opinion, going blow for blow with Patrick Mahomes, it doesn't necessarily mean you're just throwing the ball over the yard.
[720] You're making the right read on a zone read.
[721] You're making the right read on an RPO and putting the ball exactly where it needs to go.
[722] When stuff's open, you're putting the ball directly on the target.
[723] When stuff's not open, you're throwing it away or you're getting out.
[724] You're not turning the ball over.
[725] All those things has led Jalen Hurts to a second Super Bowl in three years.
[726] And he did it.
[727] And for confidence -wise, he doesn't need – I mean, he's pretty confident.
[728] It seems like he's pretty confident.
[729] He doesn't need any more confidence.
[730] But for confidence -wise to prove that you did it in the biggest game of your career just two years ago, I don't see why he can't do it this year.
[731] I don't know about that, man. Honestly, because that's not how we play.
[732] That is fact.
[733] That one year, though, I mean, there's some times where he did – strike out the band a couple times up and down the field and, you know, blow for blow with teams.
[734] But we don't play like that.
[735] We go to Saquon Barkley in good defense.
[736] And Jalen Hurts, you know, making some plays, defense, getting turnovers.
[737] That's how we play.
[738] We don't do blow for blows.
[739] And I don't want us to start.
[740] You know what?
[741] This is not the Rock.
[742] I don't want us to start doing blow for blows because that's not Philadelphia Eagles football.
[743] The playoff games I've been going to, even the one where we smoked the McCommanders, it was a solid game for a little bit in there.
[744] And the difference in that game was...
[745] The turnovers.
[746] So now we're getting the ball, good field position.
[747] Now Jalen Hurts has some plays he's making.
[748] I don't want to like, since it's a big game and this and that, I don't want to start being a conversation of, well, is it Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts?
[749] I've been seeing a lot of that, them diagrams.
[750] I don't hate that storyline.
[751] Jalen Hurts is a winner.
[752] He's been telling it all year.
[753] Forget the blow for blow.
[754] If I throw one blow and we win, that's all I need.
[755] Let's get this ball to 26.
[756] Let's not complicate things.
[757] I think sometimes what makes Andy Reid a great coach, because no matter how big the game is, I stay true to who I am.
[758] You get what I'm saying?
[759] And I don't want us to get to this big game and we start doing different things.
[760] Let's start with 26.
[761] Let's finish with 26.
[762] Let's get A .J. Brown and Smitty the ball a little bit.
[763] Get them involved.
[764] You know what I mean?
[765] Someone with Dallas with the tight end.
[766] Let's make their office line as useful because that's who they are.
[767] Jalen Hurts make plays.
[768] We got to make them.
[769] And that's it.
[770] Keep Patty on the sideline.
[771] Eat the clock up.
[772] I don't want to go blow for blow.
[773] I don't want to be no 45 to 40 point game.
[774] I don't want that.
[775] I feel like he's going to have to to win the game, though.
[776] You run the ball that good, Chase.
[777] Yeah, but it's Patrick Mahomes, though.
[778] You know what I mean?
[779] Like, Patty's going to get his...
[780] I don't know.
[781] Now, real quick.
[782] Ball control.
[783] I watched Joe Mixon average about five yards a carry.
[784] On the Chiefs?
[785] On the Chiefs.
[786] They played the...
[787] James Cook.
[788] James Cook.
[789] I watched him, okay?
[790] And them brothers are phenomenal.
[791] They ain't Saquon.
[792] They are not Saquon Barkley.
[793] And their offensive line is not our line.
[794] Here's why I agree with Shady, but this is a fascinating conversation because I was saying the same thing to Shady, but in the same breath, you didn't go into the game against the Bills saying we need to stop Cook.
[795] You go into the Bills game saying we need to stop Josh.
[796] Even against the Texans, shout out to Joe Mixon.
[797] I think Joe Mixon's the top seven running back of the last five.
[798] Easy, easy.
[799] But you don't go into that game saying, hey, don't let Joe go off.
[800] You say, hey.
[801] make sure you contain Stroud.
[802] Like, don't let Stroud catch fire.
[803] Don't let this dude catch fire.
[804] So Shady is exactly right, because I'm thinking the exact same thing as 2 -5.
[805] But you going into this Eagles game saying, stop, Saquon, Barkley, James.
[806] I do think Jalen might have to, but can he if he does have to?
[807] Um, can he is a different thing.
[808] Yeah.
[809] Because we've seen him go blow for blow with Pat.
[810] You're right.
[811] Do you trust him too?
[812] Do I trust him too?
[813] No. Because one thing I do like about Jalen Hurts, man, and it's not all the flashy stuff.
[814] And, you know, I've been hard on him because you should be getting the ball out to Smitty and AJ and these one -on -ones letting the ball go.
[815] But one thing about him that I like more than Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.
[816] is he ain't never going to change, dawg.
[817] It's been times where we watch Lamar Jackson, run, boy, that's what you do.
[818] But he feel patty over there.
[819] And you want to look pretty in the pocket and throw the ball or whatever, vice versa with Josh.
[820] Jalen knows exactly who he is.
[821] Jalen knows exactly what he has to do.
[822] Listen, man, we're not even walking on this field saying we got to go blow for blow with the baddest man on the planet.
[823] That is not what we are trying to do.
[824] We are walking on the field being who we are all year long.
[825] To be honest with you, The best game of Jalen Hurts' life might have been the Super Bowl.
[826] Yeah.
[827] And they lost.
[828] And that was a long, long, long, long time ago.
[829] You know what I'm saying?
[830] So for us to come in here and be like, man, we want you to throw for 300 yards and go blow football with Patty the ball in your hands.
[831] No. Be who you are.
[832] Make the plays that are there like you've been doing all year long and hand the ball off to 26.
[833] I don't even want that to be the mindset.
[834] They have a really good offensive line, a really good running back.
[835] Do what you have been doing.
[836] Force them to stop the run and play your style of football.
[837] Don't even go in there with that mindset of trying to go blow for blow with Patty because that's when you make the mistakes.
[838] And we've seen a lot of quarterbacks come in there trying to outplay Patrick Mahomes and make the mistakes.
[839] But you have to be – this is what we're forgetting.
[840] You have to be perfect to beat Patrick Mahomes.
[841] It's shown.
[842] It's proven.
[843] Five and two in AFC Championship Games.
[844] He's going for back -to -back -to -back.
[845] You have to be perfect.
[846] So I don't know how there's not more pressure.
[847] And I wasn't even saying, no, I wasn't even saying about how, I don't even care if Jalen Hurts throws the ball, because when you think blow for blow, a quarterback's like, we need to throw the football.
[848] We need to be perfect.
[849] It is making the right read on a zone read, keeping it on the right zone read, reading the right linebacker.
[850] You have to play perfect.
[851] You cannot turn the football over.
[852] Blow for blow for me, I don't view this as, like, just throwing the football.
[853] No doubt.
[854] I'm viewing this as if you need four rushing touchdowns to win the game, go get four.
[855] No one will say anything because this is the end game of the year.
[856] So, like, for me, Jalen Hurts has to play perfect.
[857] And I get what you're saying, Shady, but we all agree up here Spags is going to try and do everything he can to stop Saquon and make Jalen Hurts beat you.
[858] So, eventually, in the fourth quarter, because...
[859] it's probably going to be a really close game up to the fourth quarter.
[860] He's going to have to make more plays than Patrick Mahomes.
[861] And he's proven.
[862] You think so?
[863] I don't think so.
[864] Yeah, I do.
[865] No, I do.
[866] I do.
[867] Wait, wait, wait.
[868] Look, we haven't seen.
[869] Wait, did you just say, I just want to know, because sometimes I got ADD and I get, you know, I just hear all the time of things.
[870] Did you just say that Jalen Hurts is going to have to make more plays than Patrick Mahomes?
[871] Down the stretch, yes, absolutely.
[872] To win the game.
[873] Because it's the Super Bowl, Doug.
[874] But you got Sanquan, bro.
[875] We set up here last week and had a topic.
[876] What is Spaggs going to do?
[877] He's going to stop Saquon or try to stop Saquon.
[878] But not every team's Spaggs.
[879] And not every team is the Chiefs.
[880] And not every team is the Eagles.
[881] It's a different type of game.
[882] I think that Jalen Hurts will have to make more plays than Patrick Mahomes plays for them to win the game.
[883] I don't think they can walk out the bus and just have Saquon run and they win.
[884] Let's establish this.
[885] Does Saquon go over 100 yards?
[886] Yeah, he's going to get his.
[887] Okay, does Saquon go over $1 .20?
[888] Easily.
[889] Because if that's the case.
[890] For me, though, Acho, it's not even about the – he can go for 170 as long as they aren't these 60 -yard runs like the first play of the game where they're touchdowns.
[891] If you play good red zone defense, settle for three, which the Chiefs have been.
[892] It's those home run threats where you have to tackle.
[893] You went up there and showed us about these safeties coming up and tackling, and you showed Cook.
[894] Number six, he fills the hole on Joe Mix.
[895] You showed me that.
[896] Yeah, but he's going to have to do it against Saquon.
[897] But you got to – Dog, you have to do it.
[898] You have to.
[899] You don't have a choice.
[900] Now, Sancos might bust one and go to the crib, but that's the thing.
[901] You cannot let him have the big play.
[902] I got a question for you, Chase, because blow for blow to me is throwing the football.
[903] See?
[904] Hold on.
[905] Listen to what I'm saying.
[906] Listen to what I'm saying.
[907] Blow for blow to me is throwing the football and really going blow for blow with Patty like he did the last Super Bowl.
[908] He made some incredible throws going blow for blow with Patty.
[909] Did he make some plays with his legs?
[910] Yes, he did.
[911] But you're not going to sit up here and tell me if this man has four rushing touchdowns and three of them tush pushes, that's blow for blow with Patty.
[912] No, but that's what it's been, though.
[913] You were the one that told me that we need to change the way we think about Dan.
[914] I understand, but I'm saying that's not the question.
[915] I'm saying this question right now is blow for blow.
[916] That's why I'm saying no, because if he does have three tush push touchdowns and one 20 -yard touchdown run and they win the game, that's not blow for blow with Patty, but that's doing what you've been doing all year long and winning the football game.
[917] That's not blow for blow to me. Blow for blow is if you...
[918] Throw for 300.
[919] I'm throwing right behind you to AJ and Smitty.
[920] It's third and 10.
[921] Bow.
[922] I got you, too.
[923] That's blow for blow.
[924] But if you have a one -game sample size, because Jalen Hurts has played in one game against Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
[925] And actually, he's beat him at home, but in the Super Bowl.
[926] And that game, Jalen Hurts went blow for blow with Patrick Mahomes.
[927] I agree.
[928] Throwing the football, running the field.
[929] That is blow for blow to me. So this is why I trust it.
[930] Because he's shown me he can do it in the biggest stage of his career, one game.
[931] I'm just being honest.
[932] I know, but I...
[933] It's the Super Bowl.
[934] That was years ago.
[935] Two years, dog.
[936] That's attorney in football.
[937] Not for Jalen Hurts because we bring up all the time how he's second team all pro.
[938] We had a conversation.
[939] Should he be in the Hall of Fame?
[940] That's part of your resume.
[941] But anyway, let's just get back to the main thing being the main thing.
[942] We don't win like that.
[943] And I don't want to put that in the universe.
[944] It's in the universe.
[945] The way we win, we're going to win through 26.
[946] We're going to win through Jalen Hurts having winning football plays.
[947] That's what he talks about.
[948] A .J. Brown had some plays, right, in defense.
[949] Yeah.
[950] We keep forgetting about the defense.
[951] We don't need to go blow for blow because our defense is too good.
[952] Jayden Carr is going to make sure we're going to go blow for blow because sometimes I'm going to sack Patrick Mahomes.
[953] I'm going to get a third in 18 and we're going to get up the field.
[954] We're going to get them things.
[955] So you don't need to go blow because when you say blow for blow real quick, blow for Patrick Mahomes is like, yo, he make plays, I got to make plays.
[956] I don't never want to see a day and age where.
[957] Pat is making these plays and so no, Jenny has to do the same thing.
[958] No, we don't win like that.
[959] Can the Eagles, genuine question, I don't know if the Eagles can beat the Chiefs doing the same thing the Eagles did every game up until this point.
[960] The reason I suggest that is in order for the Bills to have beaten the Chiefs.
[961] they needed Matt Collins to go crazy.
[962] Like, Matt Collins had two great catches, and they still lost.
[963] In order for the Texans to beat the Chiefs, the Texans needed to do something they had never done before, and obviously that didn't work either.
[964] The Texans tried to run the ball with Joe Mixon, make some big plays with Stroud.
[965] Shady, I'm suggesting that if the Eagles try to do what they've done all season long, I don't think it'll be enough because the Chiefs always elevate.
[966] Let me say something real quick.
[967] Real quick.
[968] You're a defensive guy, right?
[969] Of course.
[970] Every team's not the same.
[971] Thank you.
[972] And when you watched it, Eagles play.
[973] First of all, we got three All -Pros and two Pro Bowls on the offensive line.
[974] That's one part.
[975] The best offensive line in football.
[976] You see it every game.
[977] And then we got this God -blessed talented dude in the backfield named Saquon Barkley.
[978] Of course.
[979] All the running backs, respectfully, James Cook.
[980] Of course.
[981] Joe Mixon.
[982] Phenomenal players.
[983] They're not Saquon.
[984] They're not.
[985] Of course.
[986] All right.
[987] So what I'm saying is, it's a different, Stax knows it's a different level of Eagles team.
[988] True.
[989] Eagles team was good then.
[990] They're not as good as they are now.
[991] You serious?
[992] What I'm suggesting is, you know what it is.
[993] Bro, all right.
[994] I'm suggesting this.
[995] We've talked basketball a lot on this show.
[996] You're going to have to make the Eagles play left -handed.
[997] I do believe Spags is going to make the Eagles play left -handed.
[998] Left -handed, obviously, just being their non -dominant attribute, which is Saquon Barkley.
[999] I do not believe Saquon Barkley is going to go for like $1 .40.
[1000] I just don't.
[1001] I respect Spags and what he does too much.
[1002] Thus, I think for the Eagles to win, I think AJ and Smitty got to get active.
[1003] That's not what's going to carry.
[1004] So wait, let me just real quick.
[1005] So you keep saying that, like, these guys have to play perfect.
[1006] Not perfect.
[1007] I don't think they've got to play perfect.
[1008] But Spag's got to be perfect.
[1009] Because one thing I've seen with Saquon, and everybody loves to talk about how big the holes are and all that in the line, which they are.
[1010] But one thing about Saquon, you give me that big hole, I'm gone.
[1011] I'm not getting a 30 -yard game, a 40 -yard game.
[1012] I'm getting a 60 -yard touchdown.
[1013] So what I'm saying now, the pressure really is on Spag's and the defense.
[1014] Yes.
[1015] He got to call the right plays for one.
[1016] They got to execute him.
[1017] And two.
[1018] Yo, yo.
[1019] You got to tackle.
[1020] Yes, I agree with that.
[1021] Because one thing about the Eagles off this line, they block everybody up, and there's going to be some one -on -ones.
[1022] And I'm going to take Saquon Barker one -on -one with anybody in the league.
[1023] And not only that, what we got to understand is this is a different beast with the Eagles.
[1024] Like, we were a different beast with the Packers.
[1025] Five really good wide receivers.
[1026] You know what?
[1027] None of the plays change.
[1028] Right.
[1029] Here we come.
[1030] Pause.
[1031] Execute.
[1032] Guard us.
[1033] And you can't.
[1034] Right?
[1035] We light it up five while you know the plays.
[1036] You can't go.
[1037] They know what's going to happen.
[1038] And every team in the National Football League that played the Eagles this year knew what was going to happen.
[1039] We stood up here for, what is this, week 20?
[1040] And we said, man, I stopped 26.
[1041] And the man got almost 2 ,500 yards.
[1042] So it's about what the Eagles and what the Eagles do.
[1043] Here's what I think is different, though, James, because as a defender, you're going up against five wide receivers.
[1044] That's five different options.
[1045] Obviously, a little hyperbole.
[1046] You're not always out five wide, et cetera.
[1047] But I understand your point.
[1048] You're going up against a running back.
[1049] There quite literally is one option.
[1050] Stop the run.
[1051] Now, it might hit in the A -gap, the B -gap, the C -gap, the D -gap, but stopping five wides is more difficult than stopping one running back.
[1052] Now, Shady's point, and your point is brilliant, is eventually you got to tackle the man. So I could dial up the very perfect play call, but if you don't tackle him, it's still to the crib.
[1053] But, Acho, you got to understand they got all pro wide receivers.
[1054] Yes.
[1055] So, like, I understand what you're saying, like, stop the run, but...
[1056] They can get it out to them, too, though.
[1057] So as a mindset, as a defensive coordinator, you just can't be like, I'm just locked in the man -to -man all game long.
[1058] You know what I'm saying?
[1059] Like, they got to stop them, too.
[1060] Last thought.
[1061] We sit up here, we talk about how we all agree that Jalen Hurts, the best thing he does is win.
[1062] I took this question, trust Jalen Hurts to go blow for blow with Patrick Mahomes if the game's on the line and the ball is in Jalen Hurts' hand, because I think it's going to be that way.
[1063] I don't think the Eagles are going to blow him out.
[1064] I don't think it's going to be Saquon, this, take on that.
[1065] I trust him because he's shown that he could go blow for blow at moments.
[1066] Now, winning is a different animal.
[1067] I don't know if he can win.
[1068] But blow for blow with the game on the line, with the ball in Jalen Hurts' hands.
[1069] He's proven that's what he does best through his career.
[1070] Yeah, no, that's very accurate.
[1071] Well, a little breaking news occurred yesterday in the NFL.
[1072] Cooper Cupp, triple crown winner, Super Bowl MVP for the Rams, on the move.
[1073] Cooper Cupp officially was notified that he will be getting traded by the Rams.
[1074] Once a superstar, you could suggest always a superstar, but no longer that to the Rams.
[1075] A little shocking in the sports world.
[1076] We got to talk about it after the commercial break.
[1077] This week, it is time.
[1078] We're headed to New Orleans, the facility.
[1079] Yo, and the whole FS1 lineup, we're going to be live on Bourbon Street.
[1080] Y 'all, it's about to get crazy.
[1081] We're about to get active Thursday, Friday.
[1082] We're getting ready for Super Bowl 59.
[1083] And this Friday, we have a Super Bowl special at 1 Eastern.
[1084] That's going to be on Fox.
[1085] We're about to be joined by guests all week long.
[1086] Y 'all better check us out on Bourbon.
[1087] It's Super Bowl week, baby.
[1088] Super Bowl.
[1089] FS1.
[1090] All right, let's get to the huge news in the NFL world.
[1091] Cooper Cup, Super Bowl MVP, triple crown winner, meaning he led the league in receiving touchdowns, receiving yards and catches.
[1092] But now he's already on the move.
[1093] It sounds like his days with the Rams are over.
[1094] He posted this yesterday.
[1095] Hey, I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately, and we will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships.
[1096] Cut to the end where he simply says, love you guys.
[1097] James, let me get to the resident receiver on the desk.
[1098] Yeah.
[1099] Why?
[1100] This was not weird to me, but it was just an unfortunate reminder of how cut -toe the NFL is.
[1101] Cooper Cup was the dude for the Rams.
[1102] I've seen Cooper Cup, maybe met him once in my life.
[1103] It was at Calamigos Guest Ranch, a hotel about 45 minutes away from here.
[1104] Nice.
[1105] He was with Matthew Stafford.
[1106] I think they were with their wives and kids, whatever the case may be.
[1107] Like, they like this.
[1108] No doubt.
[1109] Cooper Cup, Triple Crown winner, Super Bowl MVP.
[1110] Cooper Cup with the second player selected in Sean McVay's draft class 2017.
[1111] Like, all of those ties, and you're still going to get discarded the minute a new Puka Nakua came in.
[1112] So do you think Cooper Cup is kind of getting the raw end of the deal?
[1113] Well, it's crazy, man, because, you know, a lot of players be in denial when you see certain stuff happening.
[1114] You know what I mean?
[1115] All year long, I was watching the Rams games, and I'm like, worst cup.
[1116] Worst cup.
[1117] Because I've seen game plan, puka, puka, puka, puka.
[1118] We all know what that means.
[1119] As veteran players, we know what that means.
[1120] It's crazy to me nowadays that this is starting to surprise a lot of people.
[1121] You know, like, I always go back to what Charles Woodson told me, man. He said, never catch any feelings in this business.
[1122] Because the great ones will eventually one day.
[1123] be out of the door.
[1124] We've seen it with the Brett Favre.
[1125] We've seen it with the Peyton Mannings.
[1126] We've seen it with the Aaron Rodgers.
[1127] We've seen it with the Charles Woodson's.
[1128] It happens around the National Football League.
[1129] It is the business of the National Football League.
[1130] That's why you cannot get all emotional with one organization.
[1131] Cooper Cup, I understand you might want to play with this organization your whole career, but that's not usually necessarily has it work.
[1132] Everybody is tradable, except maybe one or two people in the National Football League.
[1133] is tradable so for Cooper Cup I seen it I don't know how you didn't see it because it was times where I seen Cooper Cup on the sideline and I knew he was frustrated because he wasn't getting the targets and the opportunities and all that and Puka Nakua was or the other guys were and when that starts happening you have to look at yourself and say Dan I'm making this amount of money yeah it could be that time the good thing is he's a special player and he will be somewhere else and he will be making plays for another team.
[1134] How do you keep yourself from being cutthroat then?
[1135] Because, you know, in the league, you always want to build up and help out the next generation.
[1136] But I, to some degree, understood Aaron Rodgers with the Brett Favre, and Brett Favre not wanting Aaron Rodgers.
[1137] Because imagine a world where you cup.
[1138] Yeah.
[1139] Brought the Rams, not their first Super Bowl.
[1140] Maybe it was.
[1141] I don't remember.
[1142] Andy helped me out here.
[1143] You bring the Rams a Super Bowl.
[1144] You're a triple crown winner.
[1145] You're a Super Bowl MVP.
[1146] You helped your replacement replace you.
[1147] Yeah.
[1148] Puka was a fifth -round pick, if I'm not mistaken.
[1149] And, like, how are you supposed to cheer on this dude even though it means hurting your family, hurting your kids, hurting your wife, and hurting your pockets?
[1150] Yeah, I mean, look, I don't think it's a raw deal.
[1151] It's unfortunate we've all been in this situation.
[1152] It's the NFL, bro.
[1153] Let's just take the name Cooper Cuff out of your mind right now and just imagine what I'm telling you.
[1154] A 31 -year -old receiver that has missed 35 % of their games the last three years that's due $20 million.
[1155] Hmm.
[1156] It's not worth it.
[1157] Like, I get what Cooper Cup means to that team.
[1158] And I get what the Rams are doing.
[1159] They're taking emotion out of it.
[1160] Because emotion would say, man, this is one of our leaders.
[1161] He's Stafford's best friend.
[1162] I know that for a fact.
[1163] He's a really good leader in the receiver room.
[1164] But a 31 -year -old receiver who's been hurt 18 out of the last 51 games, hasn't played in the last three seasons, and is due to make $20 million.
[1165] You can't.
[1166] Tell me that that's right for that franchise.
[1167] No pay cut?
[1168] Yeah, offer him a pay cut then.
[1169] But I'm telling you, the skill – I mean, James, you probably know this more than I have.
[1170] Just the skill set has diminished.
[1171] It seems like it's diminished from – it obviously has from the 2021 season.
[1172] Like, he's not the same receiver he was in 2021.
[1173] And I think that's what the Rams are saying.
[1174] And quite honestly, I don't – I think there might be a team out there that would take him for $20 million.
[1175] So that's why he's not going to – Take the pay cut route.
[1176] There's a lot of teams that can take Cooper Cup.
[1177] I don't understand why everybody's so sensitive about this.
[1178] This is the NFL, right?
[1179] I know you have that initial shock because I've been there like, what the hell?
[1180] But for him, though, I mean, just being honest here, he has less than 1 ,000 yards in the last three seasons, right?
[1181] So you knew the writing was on the wall.
[1182] You're not producing.
[1183] You'd be hurt, too.
[1184] And another thing is, I remember a couple years ago, they had a lot of, I won't even get into who was saying it, but they had a lot of good wide receivers over there.
[1185] This is when they were doing really, really good.
[1186] And he was, I think, third, third year, or third draft, third round draft pick, I think, Cooper Cup.
[1187] Cooper.
[1188] Third, fourth, anyway.
[1189] But he had some really good players around him, right?
[1190] Some first rounders, some first rounders, some second rounders, okay.
[1191] And they were giving him the ball, like, yo, why we keep giving this third round draft pick the ball and his opportunities?
[1192] And everybody was hating on him, right?
[1193] And then they got rid of them guys, the wide receivers, and he was the man. Let's fast forward it.
[1194] Now, Cooper Cup, three crown winning and all that, but then we get to some days where we draft Puka.
[1195] Yeah.
[1196] And now you was hurt and Puka's balling and Puka's the guy.
[1197] It happens all the time.
[1198] What's the big deal about it?
[1199] He's older.
[1200] He's made a lot of money.
[1201] He's not really involved in the offense like he used to be.
[1202] This is part of the NFL.
[1203] I think Kupaka's a really good wide receiver.
[1204] He goes to another team.
[1205] He'll play well.
[1206] Yeah.
[1207] The teams that make the most sense for me and James, tell me if you think this.
[1208] So I don't think the Bengals are going to pay T. Higgins.
[1209] 30 million.
[1210] The Bengals for 20 million, a number two.
[1211] and the Chargers.
[1212] 100%.
[1213] I think the Chargers make a ton of sense or the Broncos.
[1214] The Chargers, for me, Roman and Harbaugh really like that veteran leader.
[1215] They don't really have one in the receiver.
[1216] I have Ladd McConkie, but bring Cooper Cup in for $20 million because you don't have any receivers outside of Ladd.
[1217] Bring him in.
[1218] Let him play together.
[1219] Let him be the leader.
[1220] He's still got some left in the tank.
[1221] Him and Justin Herbert for a year or two, that makes no sense.
[1222] I got two.
[1223] Can I get one?
[1224] Talk to me. I would like to see him with...
[1225] Commanders, right?
[1226] You got, like, not a route runner, but a possession guy.
[1227] That makes just your best friend, right?
[1228] We think of Zach Ertz for Jalen Dams.
[1229] That's his guy.
[1230] Imagine Cooper Cup.
[1231] And another one I'm going to go to.
[1232] Yeah, yeah, what you got?
[1233] So I'm thinking, like, yo, the Chiefs can use him.
[1234] Oh, Lord, stop it.
[1235] I've heard people say that.
[1236] No, I've heard people say that.
[1237] Depending what goes on with Kelsey, he might get married or retire, whatever it is.
[1238] He got a billionaire in some situation in his future.
[1239] Let's put that to the side.
[1240] You bring him to the freaking Chiefs?
[1241] Xavier, where did he go?
[1242] You got Cooper?
[1243] Because he blocks.
[1244] He's coachable.
[1245] Chiefs would take him for $50.
[1246] Now, what I'm doing, I'm with Chase.
[1247] What I'm doing is, you know, after I go get my stuff out of the locker from the Rams, I'm driving to the crib.
[1248] Oh, you're driving?
[1249] Yeah, I'm driving back to the crib.
[1250] And I'm saying, hey, babe.
[1251] Don't even worry about changing the kids' schools and all that type stuff.
[1252] Because I'm just driving 25 minutes down to the Chargers facility.
[1253] Ain't no need to move.
[1254] Ain't no need to do nothing.
[1255] They a playoff team.
[1256] We know they need wide receivers.
[1257] Go right there.
[1258] Get with a really good quarterback.
[1259] That's a good idea.
[1260] And ball out.
[1261] You ain't got to move.
[1262] Ain't got to move the family.
[1263] Hey, keep all your appointments, babe.
[1264] You good.
[1265] Yeah, keep all your appointments.
[1266] Hey, well, speaking of NFL and speaking of top picks, Shador Sanders could be a number one overall pick this draft.
[1267] But is it fair to compare him to Joe Burrow?
[1268] That's what the man is.
[1269] for the number one Titans drafted, per se.
[1270] I say the same thing.
[1271] As we celebrate Black History Month, I would like to highlight Bill Russell.
[1272] Born in strictly segregated Monroe, Louisiana in 1934, Russell witnessed both his mother and father treated with disrespect for no other reason than the color of their skin.
[1273] Russell went on to transform the sport of basketball through his aggressive airborne style of defense that gave birth to the block shots.
[1274] In the entirety of his basketball career, Russell earned two national championships at the University of San Francisco, 11 championship rings with the Boston Celtics, five league MVPs, and an Olympic gold medal.
[1275] And in 1966, Russell became the NBA's first black head coach.
[1276] Throughout his life, Russell has spoken out about injustice and still firm in the face of withering racism, leading the first integrated basketball camps in Mississippi and attending the 1963 March on Washington for freedom and jobs.
[1277] President Barack Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.
[1278] Describing Russell as, quote, someone who stood up for the rights and dignity of all men.
[1279] Shador Sanders could be the number one pick in the NFL draft, but the Titans said, look.
[1280] Is Shador kind of like Joe Burrow?
[1281] That's what head coach Burrow Callahan, he said, based upon timing, accuracy, and arm strength.
[1282] It's interesting.
[1283] It brought up an interesting conversation, Chase, due to quarterback here.
[1284] Is it fair to compare Shador to Joe?
[1285] No, it's not fair.
[1286] I don't think, honestly, like, I don't think this has anything to do with...
[1287] Stop it, James.
[1288] I just started giving my point.
[1289] You said that with a straight, straight face.
[1290] I agree with it.
[1291] I feel like Shador, this has more to do with Joe Burrow.
[1292] than it does with Shador Sanders.
[1293] We don't know what Shador Sanders is going to be.
[1294] We knew, in my opinion, what Joe Burrow was going to be when he was the number one pick.
[1295] Dude had 65 total touchdowns, seven turnovers.
[1296] Look at his shake defect there, bro.
[1297] He had 65 touchdowns, seven turnovers.
[1298] In my opinion, Shador Sanders is way more like CJ Stroud.
[1299] Wait, wait, wait.
[1300] His last year in college, he had what?
[1301] 65 touchdowns and seven turnovers.
[1302] It's the greatest season ever.
[1303] He went crazy.
[1304] 6 ,000 total yards, 65 total touchdowns.
[1305] He had the two best receivers.
[1306] I was getting there.
[1307] Let him go, bro.
[1308] Let him go.
[1309] Let him go.
[1310] Let him go.
[1311] Let him go.
[1312] We've never had any quarterback.
[1313] Anywho, I think that it is more to say about Shador because I think it's C .J. Stroud.
[1314] I think C .J. Stroud.
[1315] Pocket presence, ability to buy time, deliver in tight pockets.
[1316] It's exactly what Shadour does to me. He is literally one of the few pocket passers left out there, Shadour.
[1317] Like, the dude can buy some time in the pocket, make throws.
[1318] He's extremely accurate, which I like.
[1319] I think Joe Burrow in him, I don't think that comparison is true.
[1320] I think if you go to CJ Stroud, CJ Stroud, we weren't sure.
[1321] Is he one?
[1322] Is he two?
[1323] He ended up winning rookie of the year.
[1324] He had a bad year this year.
[1325] I get that.
[1326] But what Shadour does best delivers the football in the pocket accurately.
[1327] So I would say that CJ and Shadour are way closer than Shadour and Joe, in my opinion.
[1328] Yo, I love the comparison.
[1329] When I see Joe Burrow and I see Shadour, they look the same to me. One brother's dark skin, one brother's light skin.
[1330] You know what I'm saying?
[1331] And Joe got that swag.
[1332] He might be a little brother in himself.
[1333] Anyway.
[1334] I agree, yeah.
[1335] Chase.
[1336] Yes, Shady.
[1337] You said something interesting.
[1338] You said Joe had the greatest college season in the quarterback you've seen, right?
[1339] Yep.
[1340] When did you know he was so great in college?
[1341] He's the number one overall pick.
[1342] Oh, his last year?
[1343] Yeah.
[1344] The year before, did you know that?
[1345] He had a decent year.
[1346] What about the years in Ohio State?
[1347] He transferred for a reason.
[1348] Okay, well, I'll say this, right?
[1349] If Shador Sanders had first -rounders everywhere on the field, I mean, wide receiver than left, wide receiver than right, all top picks, we might see the same type of numbers, 66 touchdowns, something like that.
[1350] And your running backs are first runner too, Clyde.
[1351] So my thing is, sometimes when we look at Joe Burrow, right, before he was this superstar in the NFL, everybody wasn't preaching this Joe Burrow story.
[1352] That's why I was like, yo, when did you know Joe was so nice?
[1353] Did you know when I found out?
[1354] Because when I found out, it was his last year when he had all these great players around him.
[1355] Then he translated to the NFL and did the same thing.
[1356] When I watched Joe Burrow, his arm shift don't impress me. His intelligence does, right?
[1357] His composure, his swagger, his confidence, his ball placement, his accuracy, all these things.
[1358] When I watch Obero, I'm like, wow, who is this guy because he's so good?
[1359] When I watch Shador Sanders, I see the same thing, but with less talent.
[1360] I can guarantee you this, that Shador Sanders won't have a first -round draft pick wide receiver.
[1361] I can guarantee you that he won't have a second -round draft pick wide receiver.
[1362] I can guarantee he won't have a third -round draft pick wide receiver.
[1363] He'll have one.
[1364] It'll be Travis.
[1365] Yeah, Travis.
[1366] He'll play corner, right?
[1367] He'll play corner.
[1368] He's going to play everything he wants.
[1369] That's a bona fide wide receiver.
[1370] Shredore don't have that.
[1371] But the one thing that Shredore does have, he has the same confidence as Joe Burrow.
[1372] Same swagger, right?
[1373] Their running ability is probably the same.
[1374] Now, he's a brother, so he should be able to run a little better, okay?
[1375] What else?
[1376] The ball placements.
[1377] Catchable balls, right?
[1378] Anticipating where to put the ball at.
[1379] Like, all these things, and then reading the coverages, I see the same thing when I watch Joe Burrow seeing Shredore Sanders.
[1380] You can't tell me otherwise.
[1381] Joe Burrow coming out of college.
[1382] Now, we didn't know what he was in junior year, but he had an amazing senior year.
[1383] We can all agree on that.
[1384] Joe Burrow was the bona fide number one pick coming out.
[1385] It wasn't even a question.
[1386] In a class of Chase Young, Tua, Justin Herbert, CeeDee Lamb, Jordan Love, Justin Jefferson, Tee Higgins, Jalen Hurts, all those guys.
[1387] He was a bona fide one.
[1388] You cannot tell me he's on the same level.
[1389] Shador Sanders is on the same level right now.
[1390] So that comparison doesn't make sense to me. What's the draft matter?
[1391] He didn't say same level, right?
[1392] Yeah, you're comparing them, though.
[1393] It's the same thing.
[1394] But what I'm telling you is this, though.
[1395] It's going to look like that when you got freaking this guy here.
[1396] It's going to look like that.
[1397] It'll look like that for anyone.
[1398] Saquon Barkley is a great running back.
[1399] He's always been a great running back.
[1400] High school, college, and the pros.
[1401] We couldn't see how great he really was because he played for the New York Giants.
[1402] You put him on the best offensive line in football, he don't just do good.
[1403] He does great.
[1404] You see the difference?
[1405] And I haven't seen, and this is not a knock on Joe Burrow.
[1406] I just want to put it in perspective so you hear what I'm saying.
[1407] five top four quarterback in the NFL.
[1408] And he deserves to be.
[1409] I've never seen Joe Burrow without these type of weapons.
[1410] And his junior year, I guess you don't even count that year.
[1411] Cool, we won't.
[1412] Because I don't count it, because you don't count it.
[1413] I count it.
[1414] But his senior year, we got all them superstar players.
[1415] This is the superstar results you get.
[1416] That's why I say where you go matters because when you have a great player, you got great players around you, you're going to do better.
[1417] So all you're saying is that Joe Burrow's accomplishments his senior year were only because of his two receivers?
[1418] Like you can't get better?
[1419] You know what I mean?
[1420] I haven't seen that same jump with Shador from his junior year to his senior year.
[1421] Yeah, but he ain't.
[1422] If Shador Sanders was playing with the wide receivers, I guarantee you, you would see some numbers, some crazy numbers.
[1423] He still put up amazing numbers.
[1424] He still had good numbers.
[1425] But what I'm saying is if you play with...
[1426] Freaking Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase?
[1427] Collin.
[1428] Right?
[1429] Collin.
[1430] Come on.
[1431] You got to stop that, man. I don't know what it is about them.
[1432] Cut them out of guys.
[1433] You got to get them to do some credit, man. No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. James, now you're saying some false narratives that I don't appreciate.
[1434] It has nothing to do with Colorado guys.
[1435] This is purely me evaluating quarterbacks, which is why I'm on the show.
[1436] That's true.
[1437] That's true.
[1438] Right?
[1439] Well, you can be a little biased to the quarterbacks.
[1440] A little bit.
[1441] But the quarterbacks, I defer to you with the quarterbacks.
[1442] Have I got a question?
[1443] Chase, talk about the quarterbacks.
[1444] And just because you defer to me doesn't mean I know everything.
[1445] No, you don't worry about the quarterbacks.
[1446] I could be a star for all I care.
[1447] All I'm seeing is, the only thing I've seen is college tape.
[1448] And the college tape, now I agree, Joe Burrowhead, it's not on the same level.
[1449] And even that, like, I do agree with you.
[1450] 1 ,000 % that Joe Burrow, the best thing Joe Burrow does, he is not of a strongman.
[1451] He anticipates the football.
[1452] He can throw the ball accurately, and he can put it anywhere on the field within the pocket.
[1453] Shadour can do that.
[1454] He was a Heisman finalist?
[1455] Yeah.
[1456] You played with J -Mac.
[1457] Maybe he had two of J -Mac.
[1458] Maybe he had two J -Mac.
[1459] That's what he did.
[1460] Denario Alexander was like J -Mac, like that.
[1461] Not like that.
[1462] He wasn't J -Mac in college.
[1463] But imagine that two of them dudes, though.
[1464] But I'm saying, like, I feel like we're acting that like my comp with Shadour Sanders.
[1465] for C .J. Stroud, who was amazing.
[1466] Which is a fair comp, actually.
[1467] That's a fair comp.
[1468] No, it's not.
[1469] Why not?
[1470] I can't name a quarterback that played for Ohio State that wasn't good in college.
[1471] I can't even name one.
[1472] I can't even name one.
[1473] But fair comp, I'm not talking about which results you had.
[1474] I'm talking about style of play.
[1475] That's all I'm saying is style of play.
[1476] Because, see, with all due respect, Joe Burrow, to me, plays the game more athletically than Shador.
[1477] With all due respect.
[1478] He plays.
[1479] I don't know who.
[1480] He's more athletic.
[1481] But he plays the game more athletically.
[1482] C .J. Stroud, on the other hand, he plays the game as athletically as Shador.
[1483] Joe Burrow plays the game more athletically.
[1484] Way.
[1485] Way more athletic.
[1486] Shador doesn't.
[1487] Shador doesn't escape much at all.
[1488] He's a pocket passer.
[1489] Even think about like Shador.
[1490] I'll be looking at him like run.
[1491] But Shador escapes two pass though.
[1492] Yeah.
[1493] And that's okay.
[1494] But no, there are times, James, and you know this better than anybody.
[1495] There are times if the defense is in man -to -man coverage and everybody's back in turn.
[1496] And we've seen him run.
[1497] Not nearly enough.
[1498] No, not Shador.
[1499] Not nearly enough.
[1500] In the same breath as Stroud.
[1501] Like, Stroud's longest run of his career came in this year's playoffs against the Chargers, and it was a 28 -yard scramble.
[1502] Like, Stroud doesn't run, Shador doesn't run.
[1503] Joe Burrow will pick him up and put him down.
[1504] I think they're the same with that.
[1505] But even in college -wise, CJ Stroud is comparable to Shador because...
[1506] He ran a ton load of RPOs in college.
[1507] Or CJ Stroud.
[1508] And they got better players.
[1509] I just think this concept coming out.
[1510] You know what I mean?
[1511] Great tackles.
[1512] So really quick, because I think this is what we are passing up on Shador, too, though.
[1513] And I really like the comp.
[1514] I mean, and we all probably had comps coming out.
[1515] I don't know what y 'all comps was coming out.
[1516] Barry?
[1517] No, I was like Reggie Bush Barry.
[1518] Reggie Bush Barry?
[1519] Yeah, it was like Barry Reggie.
[1520] And I could see the comp, right?
[1521] Ball in his hands, first dude ain't going to tackle you.
[1522] Wap, wap, that's what them dudes did.
[1523] Your eyes work.
[1524] That's your comp.
[1525] You got what I'm saying?
[1526] Now, it wasn't saying that you was going to be Barry or be, you know what I mean?
[1527] You turned out to be a hell of a football player, Hall of Famer, right?
[1528] My comp.
[1529] Was I Anquan Bolden?
[1530] Okay.
[1531] Was I Anquan Bolden?
[1532] Absolutely not.
[1533] But when you turn my tape on at San Jose State, it was, pow, big boy catches.
[1534] Boom, get off me. I'm still on my feet.
[1535] It was them type plays.
[1536] Am I Anquan Bolden?
[1537] No. Anquan about to go into the Hall of Fame.
[1538] But it's a comp.
[1539] When I see Shadour, he's a phenomenal pocket passer.
[1540] He throws with anticipation.
[1541] And he got that it factor.
[1542] Whether we like it or not.
[1543] He has that it factor.
[1544] Game on the line, you need a Hail Mary, I got you.
[1545] Game on the line, you need a big -time play, I got you.
[1546] He has that it factor.
[1547] Whether it's me making a play out of the pocket or in the pocket.
[1548] And to me, that's Joe Burrow.
[1549] Now, it may be different levels of the Joe Burrow and Shadour.
[1550] But when you talk about what they have, I think Shadour has a lot of what Joe Burrow has.
[1551] And I think that is what this dude is saying from the Tennessee Titans.
[1552] And I don't mind the comp.
[1553] Incredibly well said.
[1554] Hey, we got to get back to the blockbuster trade that took the entire sports world.
[1555] The biggest trade of the generation, Luka Doncic to the Lakers.
[1556] But does adding Luka hurt LeBron's legacy?
[1557] We got to talk about that next episode.
[1558] Well, back to the NBA blockbuster deal.
[1559] LeBron James now gets another all -time great -to -be in Luka Doncic.
[1560] Luka, the first team All -NBA player five times in his first six years, the last five years.
[1561] Now, if you really look about the Kings court, you could call it, the notable greats that LeBron has played with, the All -NBA caliber players, Tyree, Love, Voss, Wade, Ray Allen, Anthony Davis, and now Luka Doncic.
[1562] You could go on to suggest that...
[1563] Adding Luka, another all -time great, is going to hurt LeBron in the all -time great conversation because anybody that has ever participated in a barbershop conversation, anybody that's ever participated in a bar conversation, anybody that's stuck in a group chat with their friends in a debate over LeBron or Jordan, y 'all understand, when LeBron's all said and done...
[1564] They gonna say he played with Kyrie 2 -5.
[1565] He played with Kevin Love in his prime.
[1566] He played with Dwayne Wade.
[1567] He played with Chris Bosh.
[1568] He played with an aging but still competent Russell Westbrook.
[1569] He played with Anthony Davis.
[1570] He played with Luka Doncic.
[1571] I'm leaving out the older, older, older Shaquille O 'Neal.
[1572] These are just some of the all -time greats he played with, and yet he still had less titles than Jordan.
[1573] He played with all those people for all them years, and yet he has the same amount of chips.
[1574] is Steph Curry.
[1575] He played with all of them all -time greats for 20 -plus years, and he still lost six NBA finals and won four.
[1576] To me, James, if I look at the macro, not just the micro, obviously I lived it, so I'll have a little more competence in the conversation than those I'm arguing with 30 years from now when I'm arguing with Gen. I don't know what Gen Z that's going to be.
[1577] Maybe Gen T. I don't even know what it's going to be.
[1578] Let's start over.
[1579] Gen A. Let's start over.
[1580] But James, you can suggest, though, that adding Luka will hurt LeBron's legs.
[1581] I don't think it's going to hurt his legacy.
[1582] Not in my eyes.
[1583] In other people's eyes, maybe.
[1584] But I've...
[1585] Even if he wins 10 championships, I don't have him in front of Michael Jordan or Kobe.
[1586] That's just me. That's my personal opinion.
[1587] So I'm not going into this thing and worried about all the all -stars he's played with because that's what they're doing in the NBA now.
[1588] Everybody's teaming up.
[1589] Everybody's trying to get these all -star players to go out here and win championships.
[1590] So I don't think it's going to hurt his legacy because that is what LeBron has done his whole career.
[1591] So if it was going to hurt his legacy, it would have hurt his legacy when he left Cleveland.
[1592] It would have hurt his legacy when he got Anthony Davis.
[1593] You know what I mean?
[1594] And won a championship.
[1595] It would have hurt his legacy then.
[1596] But it didn't because that is where the NBA is going.
[1597] In my humble opinion, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are the two greatest basketball players to ever play the game that I watch, that I truly believe.
[1598] I'm never putting them over those two.
[1599] So I'm not saying this is going to hurt his legacy at all, getting Luka and going out here, even if he does win a championship.
[1600] That's just me. Now, LeBron fans, I don't know what they're going to think.
[1601] You know what I mean?
[1602] But as for me, hey, I got Michael Jordan.
[1603] I got Kobe.
[1604] Then I got LeBron.
[1605] And I don't think it's going to hurt his legacy because that's the day and age we're in.
[1606] You must have read my paper because I tend to agree with you.
[1607] I have an MJ, LeBron, Kobe.
[1608] So that's just I think he's the second greatest player of all time.
[1609] And I don't think any more wins will surpass him from Michael.
[1610] Like, I don't think he's going to jump Michael, in my opinion.
[1611] And I don't think a loss in the next two years of his career and not winning another title is going to drop him below Kobe for me. So for me, it doesn't hurt his addition.
[1612] I don't see how it can.
[1613] Because he's playing with another great player.
[1614] In fact, I think it could only enhance his legacy if he wins one with Luka.
[1615] That's how I feel.
[1616] Because LeBron, for me, like, people forget.
[1617] Maybe you don't forget.
[1618] But people forget, like.
[1619] The dude's in his 22nd NBA season.
[1620] He's a 21, I had to check my, he's a 21 -time All -Star and 20 -time All -NBA, four -time MVP, four -time Finals MVP.
[1621] His name's etched in stone for the foreseeable future for as long as the NBA exists.
[1622] No question.
[1623] So I don't think, in my opinion, any more losses will drop him below the second greatest player of all time.
[1624] And I don't even think if he wins another one in the two or three years he has left, that it'll jump him.
[1625] I'm going to put the crown on when I talk about the king.
[1626] Respectfully, I'm going to talk about the king right away.
[1627] I mean, Bron Bron's golden.
[1628] His legacy is legacy.
[1629] He's smitted.
[1630] You can't get anywhere around it.
[1631] And if we ever was going to, I guess, criticize his legacy, right, from adding players, you would have bend it when we went to Miami.
[1632] That's it.
[1633] You know, and I don't know if I'm too young or not, but I've been following basketball for years.
[1634] My dad's made me freaking watch the Magic and Bird classic playoff matchups.
[1635] So I'm kind of...
[1636] knowledgeable about this thing.
[1637] In 2003, that drag class won the best of all time, right?
[1638] If you was going to ever criticize LeBron for creating this match team thing, because he kind of did.
[1639] In one drag class, he was number one.
[1640] I think Bosh was four.
[1641] And Wade was five.
[1642] If you ever going to criticize somebody for their legacy, dog, in one drag.
[1643] Gosh.
[1644] No, that's not it.
[1645] That's not it.
[1646] But in one draft, yo, the number one player, number one pick, the number four pick, number five pick on the same team?
[1647] And we're going to talk about if you're going damage legacy because you got Luka when you 40?
[1648] Yeah.
[1649] There's no way.
[1650] There's things that LeBron James has done off the court, has done on the court with his son, everything he's done.
[1651] He's goaded, and there's nothing that Noa can do to diminish his career and the legacy he's created.
[1652] I don't think you can diminish it, but I do think the context will always occur in conversation.
[1653] I love having this conversation after the convo we just had.
[1654] In case y 'all just turned us on, we were talking about Shador Sanders and Joe Burrow.
[1655] Something Shady brought up, which you cannot dispute, is Joe Burrow has always played with the best of the best of the best.
[1656] You can't talk about Joe Burrow without talking about it.
[1657] At LSU, he played with Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, Randy Moss' son, Thaddeus Moss, Clyde Edwards, the late first -round pick.
[1658] That's just on offense.
[1659] Not even talking about the beats he played with on defense.
[1660] Then in the NFL, he played with T. Higgins and Jamar Chase and Joe Mixon.
[1661] And then he had the dude that left the third tight end.
[1662] Tyler Boyd.
[1663] Tyler Boyd from Pittsburgh.
[1664] And then you draft a second -round pick, hasn't done anything from Alabama and Burton.
[1665] But you still got T. Higgins and you still got Jamar Chase.
[1666] So whenever you talk about Joe, you got to talk about his help.
[1667] That's what I'm suggesting is the dilemma that has already occurred to Shady's point with LeBron.
[1668] But it's like, whenever you talk about LeBron, you will now always have to talk about all 75 player in D -Wade, all 75 player in Anthony Davis, all 75 player when the next time they do it with Luka Doncic.
[1669] You'll always have to talk about his help.
[1670] He'll never be able to escape that.
[1671] But who doesn't need a Robin, though?
[1672] But we're not talking about Robins.
[1673] We're talking about other Batmans.
[1674] Like, D -Wade was a Batman.
[1675] Luka Doncic was a habit.
[1676] Yeah, but when LeBron came over there, he was the Robin, though.
[1677] Yes, he became the Robin.
[1678] You know what I'm saying?
[1679] For the heat.
[1680] But I'm just saying.
[1681] For half a year.
[1682] They was fighting for a minute.
[1683] I'm Batman, you Batman.
[1684] For half a year.
[1685] And then D -Way took a step back.
[1686] And that's the only reason why I say no, because every superstar that has really won one or won a championship needed a Robin.
[1687] You know what I mean?
[1688] I think really one of the most impressive runs is when I seen Kobe Bryant.
[1689] beat the Celtics with that team he had with Paul Gasol in there.
[1690] Because you can say Paul was a Robin, but Lord have mercy.
[1691] That was Kobe being Bryant.
[1692] You understand what I'm saying?
[1693] So, you know, LeBron needs help.
[1694] We've been saying it all the time.
[1695] When LeBron wasn't getting to them chips in Cleveland, he need one more player.
[1696] He needs that.
[1697] You know what I mean?
[1698] So I don't think it's going to really tarnish his legacy just because he got another Robin.
[1699] Now, I'll be a hypocrite, bro, to not speak on it.
[1700] Back in the day when the trade, I'm sorry, when he went to Miami, I was like, what?
[1701] Yeah, no doubt.
[1702] Because I'm used to the best competing.
[1703] Against the best.
[1704] And it's like, yo, I ain't teaming up.
[1705] I'm trying to beat you.
[1706] I ain't trying to beat your team.
[1707] And then I was mad at LeBron.
[1708] I can't lie.
[1709] And then it kind of normalized everything.
[1710] OK, well, maybe this is the new pattern.
[1711] And then I got OK with it.
[1712] So today.
[1713] About the same I was back then.
[1714] And it's okay now.
[1715] Everybody does it now.
[1716] Everybody teams up.
[1717] Yo, KD, come over here.
[1718] There's going to be a lot of people.
[1719] Yo.
[1720] Booker, yo, you want to do it?
[1721] Let's do it.
[1722] Team up, trying to win.
[1723] Before it was like, let's draft.
[1724] And until we get the draft picks or trades, we're going to keep getting beat.
[1725] And we're going to wait until we beat them.
[1726] Jordan did it, right?
[1727] Pippen wasn't traded.
[1728] He was drafted there, right?
[1729] And then they got some help from Dennis Rodman.
[1730] And that was on the other three -peat team.
[1731] So all I'm saying is, like, nowadays, I'm okay with the whole teaming up.
[1732] LeBron started.
[1733] If y 'all had a problem with it back then, don't have a problem with it now.
[1734] Hey, can you hit the music?
[1735] Music, music.
[1736] It's time for me. Oh.
[1737] There it is.
[1738] There it is.
[1739] Hey, the most exciting segment of sports television.
[1740] It's time for crazy work.
[1741] They don't get no better than this.
[1742] They don't get no better than this.
[1743] You see Game of Thrones, the last episode.
[1744] Don't miss it.
[1745] Don't miss it.
[1746] All right, family, it's time for the most exciting segment on sports.
[1747] It's called Crazy, Crazy, Crazy Work 2 -5.
[1748] Go ahead and get it popular.
[1749] Sean McCoy.
[1750] What a move by McCoy.
[1751] Excuse me. Now you see it on show, and now you don't.
[1752] Conj, did you see that?
[1753] Conj, did you see that move?
[1754] Somebody broke a game.
[1755] Oh, my God.
[1756] You a little boy.
[1757] Look at the speed, though.
[1758] Brace a tackle.
[1759] Brace another one.
[1760] Sean McCoy.
[1761] This is called crazy, crazy, crazy work.
[1762] Can we see it?
[1763] I can't wait.
[1764] It's time.
[1765] Crazy work.
[1766] We've been waiting long enough.
[1767] Listen, man. Super Bowl week.
[1768] Super Bowl week.
[1769] It's like the Game of Thrones.
[1770] It's the final episode of crazy work.
[1771] Stay tuned.
[1772] Turn the volume up.
[1773] Sit in your seat.
[1774] And let me entertain you for a quick segment.
[1775] Let's get the crazy work.
[1776] Let's get it.
[1777] Huh?
[1778] Now, Quan Martin, though, I know we play a little defense.
[1779] I know it's an offensive segment, but the boy got moves.
[1780] Give me his pick, Jared Goff.
[1781] See you at home in Cancun.
[1782] But let me make this guy miss. Oh, excuse me. Oh, excuse me. Look, making guys miss ball security.
[1783] I don't know, man. Washington might have to put him at wide receiver because this boy can make you miss. He got hands.
[1784] Look at this.
[1785] Oh, excuse me. Come on, fat man. Listen, listen.
[1786] He's shaking him and sitting him down.
[1787] Listen.
[1788] Excuse me. Wait, wait.
[1789] It's time for the Andre Andre.
[1790] Now hold up.
[1791] Now hold up.
[1792] Get the smell of salt on our one.
[1793] Jericho, what are you doing?
[1794] When you throw picks, you get put on your butt if you don't make the tackle.
[1795] Kwon, listen, dog.
[1796] Come to the office, man, because you got some game.
[1797] Kwon, hit the Kwon.
[1798] Hit the Kwon.
[1799] Hit the next because he didn't win.
[1800] Oh, we going to Josh.
[1801] Come here.
[1802] Make you miss. Dragging the whole Philadelphia team.
[1803] Giving it that crazy, crazy work.
[1804] Listen, this is a combination of speed, power, and vision.
[1805] He was not being denied.
[1806] Get off me, little guy.
[1807] Number eight, little guy.
[1808] I was at this game, and I was so scared after this run.
[1809] He's so good, but wasn't good enough to win.
[1810] But guess what?
[1811] He will drag you through the whole Philadelphia, though.
[1812] Gino Stakes.
[1813] You know what I mean?
[1814] Rocky.
[1815] You know what I'm saying?
[1816] Look at him.
[1817] He carried 11 players on the team.
[1818] There's only 11 players on the team.
[1819] Anyway.
[1820] Let's get to it.
[1821] He did not win.
[1822] Hey, Josh.
[1823] Oh, my Josh.
[1824] That was good.
[1825] He didn't win.
[1826] The best running back of all time.
[1827] Number 26.
[1828] Number one in your heart.
[1829] Saquon spinning cycle.
[1830] Barkley making guys miss spinning.
[1831] Juking.
[1832] Shaking.
[1833] To the crib.
[1834] And he's got the Super Bowl bound.
[1835] That's what it is.
[1836] That's what we do.
[1837] Spin cycle, spin cycle, spin cycle.
[1838] 26 is making guys miss. I'll tell you what, man. I don't know what it is.
[1839] It must have been me. That's what it was.
[1840] He seen 2 -5.
[1841] He said, let me get back to what 2 -5 does, making guys miss. Now, I ain't do a lot of spinning, but I did do a lot of shaking, a lot of scoring.
[1842] 2 -6.
[1843] Oh, there you go.
[1844] Your boy.
[1845] Listen, man, let me get to the middle of this thing, man. Hey, look, man. I don't ask you for a lot of different things.
[1846] When I text you, I don't ask for a lot of things.
[1847] But I'm going to text you tomorrow.
[1848] Or should I wait till Friday or Saturday or Sunday?
[1849] I need you to bring home that W. Because I'm going to be partying with big champagne bottles on Wall Street when you bring us that championship.
[1850] I know, I know, I love Patrick Mahomes.
[1851] I know Andy Reid drafted me. But it's not about me. It's about you and we and the whole Philadelphia Eagles.
[1852] But we're standing up right now.
[1853] Because you know who's going to be at the game.
[1854] Who's going to be there?
[1855] Kevin Hart going to be there.
[1856] 2 -5 going to be there.
[1857] 2 -5 going to be there.
[1858] Kevin Hart going to be there.
[1859] Kevin Hart going to be there.
[1860] Kevin Hart, Will Smith.
[1861] Will Smith going to be there.
[1862] I'm not going to tell you the rest.
[1863] We got to go.
[1864] Okay.
[1865] Hey!
[1866] Football drop.
[1867] Listen, man, that was the last segment, though.
[1868] Can I say this, though, after the last crazy work of the year?
[1869] Can I say this?
[1870] Because I want to say this truly, truly, truly from the heart.
[1871] Can I get my single?
[1872] Can I get my single?
[1873] Give him his onesie.
[1874] Hey, I want to say this, right, because I know there's a lot of people up top right now at Fox watching our show that really runs this show.
[1875] Let my dog 2 -5 go to the game.
[1876] We will have his replacement here on that Monday of Super Bowl.
[1877] I know it's the day after Super Bowl.
[1878] You gotta go.
[1879] The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs are there.
[1880] Two organizations he played with.
[1881] Let him go enjoy the football game.
[1882] Free my man. And let us replace him on Monday.
[1883] Even if it's three of us up here.
[1884] We will get the show done.
[1885] But as for me, I speak on behalf of 2 -5.
[1886] Let him go.
[1887] Thanks, James.
[1888] Because I'm going to be on that field.
[1889] You know what I mean?
[1890] If you want to see a Fox member on the field, for the facility you're going to look at, it's going to be me. It's going to be me. You know what I'm saying?
[1891] Hey, when we return, Patrick Mahomes is back at it again.
[1892] But does Patrick need to be special?
[1893] Does Mahomes need to be special to beat the Eagles?
[1894] That's the question next.
[1895] There go that man. There he is.
[1896] Well, Patrick Mahomes is hoping that he and the Chiefs can once again experience the amazing feeling of winning a Super Bowl.
[1897] Mahomes going for a three -peat, the first in the Super Bowl era.
[1898] So not a question, it's simple.
[1899] Does Mahomes need to be special in order to beat the Eagles?
[1900] Clearly the Eagles have the more talented team, James, but Mahomes is the more talented than the most talented player on the field.
[1901] Does he need to be special or can he just be Pat?
[1902] He just needs to be Pat.
[1903] and being patted special in the special moments.
[1904] All right, Patrick Mahomes, like I said earlier in the week, A really good winner meets a great winner in Patrick Mahomes.
[1905] So what Jalen Hurts does really, really good, Patrick Mahomes does really, really great.
[1906] That's why he's sitting here looking in the eyes of a three -peat, him and Andy Reid, because he is always special in the special moments, however that special moment may look.
[1907] If it's fourth down and I got to make a play with my legs against San Francisco 49ers to pick up the first down and go down here and score a touchdown on this drive, that's Patrick Mahomes.
[1908] All year long, we talked about one -score games because Patrick Mahomes was special in those.
[1909] moments, whether it's Carolina, you running down the whole football field for 45 yards, winning the game for your team, kicking a field goal.
[1910] So Patrick Mahomes just has to be special in special moments, and that's Patty.
[1911] And that is what it's going to take in this game.
[1912] It is going to be a third down in this game to where it don't look good.
[1913] Jalen Carter is going to get some pressure on him.
[1914] He might have to scramble.
[1915] He might have to throw a pass with some pressure in his face.
[1916] Be special in the special moments.
[1917] And if he does, they're going to have a really good chance of winning this ballgame.
[1918] Patrick Mahomes needs to be himself.
[1919] And himself is special.
[1920] Very special.
[1921] Especially against Vic Fangio.
[1922] Patrick Mahomes is 8 -0 versus Vic Fangio in his career with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions.
[1923] Who's the defensive coordinator for the Eagles?
[1924] Vic Fangio.
[1925] They play a lot of zone.
[1926] Patrick Mahomes loves to throw the ball short on the sticks these past years.
[1927] He's changed how he's played the game.
[1928] You're not going to get these massive completions versus Vic Fangio, too high safety.
[1929] Look, you're just not going to do it.
[1930] So I like the fact that Mahomes had to win it the way he won it last year.
[1931] I think it plays into effect this year because last year they didn't have the receivers.
[1932] There were drops.
[1933] There were all this stuff.
[1934] Now you've got Hollywood Brown going.
[1935] Now you've got Xavier Worthy.
[1936] Now you've got Patrick Mahomes.
[1937] Now you're running the football.
[1938] They run for 135 yards in the AFC Championship game against the Bills.
[1939] So Mahomes needs to do what he always does, specifically against Vic Fangio.
[1940] The biggest thing that I can tell them that they know this, right?
[1941] The last nine games, they had one turnover.
[1942] They went 501 snaps without a turnover until last week's AFC Championship game.
[1943] If they do that and they don't turn the football over, because they're going to have to score on almost every possession, because Saquon and the Eagles are going to eat up clock.
[1944] They have to be able to score in the red zone to win this game.
[1945] You can't turn the football over either.
[1946] Doesn't need to be special, Tupac.
[1947] You know, it's funny, man. Like, I'm going to say yes.
[1948] It has to be special.
[1949] They kind of say yes, but they didn't answer it like.
[1950] a different way.
[1951] Like, hey, he don't have to be special, but he's a special player, so yes.
[1952] Same thing, right?
[1953] We all say the same thing.
[1954] Yes, I think he has to be special because, first of all, you're going to get the best defense you've faced all year.
[1955] They're the number one defense for a reason, and they do create turnovers.
[1956] And I think for this team to go and win a three -peat, he got to be special.
[1957] Maybe at Super Bowl, he wasn't special in.
[1958] Special on me, you got to throw for 400 yards and 18 touchdowns in a game?
[1959] Nah.
[1960] Special is in big moments.
[1961] We got to have it.
[1962] He delivers.
[1963] Always.
[1964] If it's with his arm or it's with his legs.
[1965] He finds a way to be special.
[1966] He has to be special to win this game, Acho.
[1967] Who needs to be special then for the Chiefs?
[1968] Because kind of, y 'all, you said you don't need to be special.
[1969] I'm saying Pat.
[1970] Defense.
[1971] Pat.
[1972] Say Pat.
[1973] Defense.
[1974] Spags.
[1975] Who on defense?
[1976] Spags.
[1977] They have to call.
[1978] We talked about it two segments ago.
[1979] They have to call the right defense at the right time, and then the whole team has to tackle.
[1980] Right?
[1981] It comes down to that.
[1982] I think it's Spags for me, for sure.
[1983] The last three Super Bowls with the Chiefs, right?
[1984] I'd say the last two.
[1985] They played against teams that were better than them, right?
[1986] Yeah.
[1987] More talent.
[1988] Yeah, no doubt.
[1989] Roster was way better, though.
[1990] No doubt.
[1991] You get what I'm saying?
[1992] So how do you make it, I guess, eagle?
[1993] If your team is way more talented than me, now obviously every coach we have, we're going to have the coaching side.
[1994] Coaching.
[1995] But that was it.
[1996] Coaching.
[1997] Think about it, though.
[1998] Quarterback being special.
[1999] And the reason why is because the quarterback is special.
[2000] No matter how many yards we run with Saquon or how many defenses, they always have a chance.
[2001] Not because of the roster.
[2002] Because the quarterback is special and they got great coaching.
[2003] Yeah, that's well said.
[2004] Well, speaking of special, Luka Doncic, LeBron James has been special their whole careers.
[2005] But now when you take those superstar teammates and put them together, are they actually closer to a ring?
[2006] Is LeBron closer to his fifth ring today than he was on Friday?
[2007] That's next in the facility.
[2008] Let's talk about it.
[2009] LeBron James just had a triple -double over the weekend in Madison Square.
[2010] He put on a show.
[2011] And then, by the end of the night, he had acquired one of the best players in basketball in Luka Doncic.
[2012] LeBron has four titles already.
[2013] He's been eagerly awaiting that highly elusive fifth title.
[2014] But, Shady, do you think after acquiring Luka Doncic, LeBron James is actually closer to the fifth title?
[2015] Yes or no?
[2016] Mm -mm.
[2017] Mm -mm.
[2018] Nah, dawg.
[2019] I'm enjoying LeBron's greatness.
[2020] Yeah.
[2021] I ain't worried about them chips.
[2022] Them chips is over with.
[2023] Like, when I look at Luka and LeBron, I don't think they got better.
[2024] They're the same player.
[2025] And I ain't never seen LeBron play off the ball.
[2026] You gonna put him in the corner?
[2027] Come on, man. I look at Luka, I see him as LeBron, but just younger.
[2028] Not as athletic, but probably a better scorer, right?
[2029] I just don't see it.
[2030] I think this trade is for the future.
[2031] I think they're gonna build around Luka these next couple of years.
[2032] Don't give him that big contract, that big max, because he deserves it.
[2033] He's gonna be...
[2034] L .A., show Lakers, right?
[2035] They always got a bona fide superstar, okay?
[2036] You get that there.
[2037] Now you get players around them, and then they build again.
[2038] But I don't see LeBron.
[2039] I don't even know.
[2040] I see it.
[2041] You see the championship?
[2042] I don't see it right now.
[2043] No, no, no. Championship.
[2044] I see them closer.
[2045] I see him being closer.
[2046] The question is closer.
[2047] Is he closer?
[2048] Let me just get your fifth read.
[2049] Here's why I think he's closer.
[2050] Because, number one, we have seen Luka drag teams and players single -handedly to conference finals.
[2051] Now, he got Kyrie, and thus he dragged his team to the NBA finals.
[2052] But LeBron is closer because now he has a player who he knows he can drag him closer to.
[2053] Furthermore, if we've really been watching LeBron over the last three and four years, we've seen him play off -balled at times.
[2054] When D 'Lo is in a game, D 'Lo can definitely be a lot more ball conscious.
[2055] Remember, Austin Reeves, he started to be a lot more ball conscious.
[2056] Remember, Russell Westbrook, when he was with the Lakers for those two seasons or a year and a half, if I'm not mistaken.
[2057] LeBron James, we have seen him at times be a lot more off -ball ready and off -ball regular.
[2058] But also, I'm thinking, LeBron has had to figure out how to mold his game, and we've seen him do that.
[2059] Like LeBron's catch -and -shoot percentage, it's higher than it's ever been.
[2060] We've seen LeBron have to elevate his game, elevate his IQ.
[2061] I do think that LeBron can play that much more 16 points a game, nine dimes, 16 points a game, eight dimes.
[2062] And LeBron is still playing at a high, high, high level.
[2063] I'm thinking in a year from now.
[2064] And that's my thing.
[2065] Like LeBron is, where would we say LeBron is right now in the NBA, like players -wise?
[2066] Top 10?
[2067] Still top 10, top 15.
[2068] All right, so we're saying you got a top 10 player and a top 5 player.
[2069] Before I say, yeah, that they're closer, What does LeBron need?
[2070] What kind of pieces does LeBron need to go compete for another championship?
[2071] He's gonna need bigs.
[2072] Big guy.
[2073] He needs somebody other than himself.
[2074] Like, for example, right?
[2075] I'm saying, but you got Luka, though, now.
[2076] So that's what I'm saying.
[2077] They're the same person, though.
[2078] You know what I'm saying?
[2079] If you watch the DNA, how they play, right now in LeBron James' career, he's not a lockdown friend like he used to be.
[2080] No doubt.
[2081] And then he's talking about different...
[2082] offensive possessions where maybe D -Lo does this, but that's not a lot.
[2083] When you watch Luka and you watch LeBron, the ball is in their hands predominantly all game.
[2084] And the only reason why I say that, though, because when you watch the Lakers with LeBron and AD, a lot of times when the Lakers had success, they went through AD.
[2085] They did.
[2086] A lot of times they had success.
[2087] Those are the games AD would ball and they would go through AD.
[2088] And we was like, dang, man, AD one game, he cold one game, he ain't into the game.
[2089] The next game, they get him started early, he's rolling.
[2090] So LeBron has shown you that, hey, man, we can go through somebody else.
[2091] And now you got another guy that we can go through that really has took teams that did not have a lot to the conference finals and the finals.
[2092] And we're saying he's with a top 10 player in the NBA and now they're not closer.
[2093] Oh, that's just not making sense to me just because they both.
[2094] That's because they both like the ball.
[2095] What I'm saying is, so throwing the ball down low to a big is way different than...
[2096] I'm just saying it's going through him, though.
[2097] But who's going to do...
[2098] Jackson Hills, or what's his name?
[2099] Hayes.
[2100] Jason...
[2101] Jackson Hayes.
[2102] Yeah, Jackson Hayes.
[2103] I was right.
[2104] Jackson Hayes.
[2105] Is he going to do that?
[2106] No. But I'm saying now you're going through Luka, though, is what I'm saying.
[2107] So instead of, like, going through AD...
[2108] AD, real quick.
[2109] Because AD had moments where he has them big -time points in the first half.
[2110] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[2111] He the same dude.
[2112] He had 30 -something in the first half.
[2113] In the second half, he would have 36 points.
[2114] And we would be begging for the Lakers to go through him some more.
[2115] That's all I'm saying, though.
[2116] Here's what we know.
[2117] We know they're not that close right now.
[2118] We know the Lakers aren't that close right now.
[2119] Tell us how, James.
[2120] Tell us how, though.
[2121] I'm trying to figure out why.
[2122] Tell us how, James.
[2123] Defensively, they are atrocious.
[2124] Tell us, James.
[2125] Offensively, they ain't got no bigs.
[2126] Understandable.
[2127] And then I still need depth.
[2128] Understandable.
[2129] They might have to win 141 to 140.
[2130] And look, I understand, man. The defense is definitely different now.
[2131] Yes.
[2132] And then the scoring part is like, yo, you got two players that score and dominant the same way.
[2133] You get what I'm saying?
[2134] Do we?
[2135] Because, like, when you do the, like, if you do this different comparison of, like, role players, right?
[2136] Or not even role players, but, like, other superstars.
[2137] Like, okay, let's use LeBron and AD, whenever they're together.
[2138] They are different.
[2139] They were different, yes.
[2140] They're different.
[2141] Holy shit.
[2142] Like, everybody's different.
[2143] But LeBron and Kyrie both needed the ball in their hands, too.
[2144] That's what I'm saying, though.
[2145] You're right.
[2146] But how many times did LeBron not have the ball in his hands?
[2147] But they had stab periods where they do that.
[2148] But majority of the time, who's the ball's hands in?
[2149] I understand that.
[2150] So majority of the time.
[2151] When Kyrie would get off of LeBron.
[2152] Yeah.
[2153] They'll be second unit.
[2154] I'm doing all the shooting in the second unit.
[2155] Then when LeBron come in there, it'll be times where you do your game.
[2156] And that's how it needs to go this time.
[2157] The majority of the time, but you do your 40.
[2158] Let me ask you, Acho.
[2159] Do you think that, so LeBron probably has two, maybe three more good years, right?
[2160] We would agree with that?
[2161] Do you think that the Lakers in two years will win a championship?
[2162] No. Then the answer's no. Because first of all, it depends on how quickly they mesh on the court.
[2163] You have two ball -dominant players.
[2164] Are they going to coexist?
[2165] Will LeBron be okay?
[2166] I mean, he might not have a choice because this is for the future.
[2167] It's like time will only tell for me. And it's like one of those things where he's 14 years older than Luka.
[2168] Luka's 25.
[2169] Can I ask you one question?
[2170] So are they going to exist on the quarterback?
[2171] I don't know.
[2172] Game online, who gets the ball?
[2173] Because you keep saying – That's my stuff.
[2174] You keep talking about Kyrie and all that.
[2175] It depends who has it going.
[2176] The ball's going to be in LeBron's hands.
[2177] It depends who got it going.
[2178] If Luka got it going, I'm giving it to Luka.
[2179] LeBron got to go in that night.
[2180] I'm going through bra.
[2181] Here's what we know.
[2182] LeBron is more selfless than Luka.
[2183] We know that for certain.
[2184] We know that.
[2185] He's 14 years older.
[2186] But the ball's in his hands.
[2187] He's 14 years older.
[2188] Yes, but LeBron is not afraid to kick.
[2189] Yo, let me tell you something, man. Luka's taking a shot.
[2190] Luka, you said I was your role model.
[2191] You said you look up to me. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[2192] I'm going to be passing to you.
[2193] Okay, all right.
[2194] He's going to have to.
[2195] Don't let LeBron do something for the charities and all that change.
[2196] LeBron still.
[2197] If LeBron passed to KCP, he can pass.
[2198] He's going to have to.
[2199] But the ball's in his hands.
[2200] A -O -G.
[2201] A -O -G.
[2202] I got this one, dog.
[2203] That's crazy.
[2204] Okay.
[2205] It's time for a Blitz meeting.
[2206] Should Travis Kelsey retire if the Chiefs three -peat?
[2207] Should the Warriors want a KD reunion?
[2208] That and so much more is the facility.
[2209] Time for a Blitz meeting.
[2210] Reports say that the Warriors are exploring the possibility of trading for Kevin Durant.
[2211] Oh, my God.
[2212] Hey, Shady, should the Warriors want a KD reunion?
[2213] Oh, my goodness.
[2214] Bro, you know how great KD is?
[2215] How great he wants the Warriors?
[2216] Bring him back.
[2217] We get him back, chip talk.
[2218] Yes, because whether you want it or not, you definitely need it.
[2219] They absolutely should.
[2220] Yeah, they need a guy like KD or Sonny.
[2221] Sweep!
[2222] I don't even know why this is a question.
[2223] Absolutely, man. Sweep.
[2224] Come on.
[2225] Moving on to the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett.
[2226] Yesterday, during the show, it was broken that he requested a trade from the Browns.
[2227] Shady, where should Myles want to go?
[2228] You know what he said now?
[2229] He said, hey, I don't mind playing Philadelphia one day.
[2230] Bring it to Philadelphia, baby.
[2231] Why not?
[2232] Yeah.
[2233] I knew I was going to set the Packers.
[2234] Hey, Miles said he wants to compete for championships and play in meaningful games.
[2235] I got the Eagles as well.
[2236] Told you.
[2237] If Miles wants to compete in championships and play in meaningful games, go to the Chiefs.
[2238] No, you trying to cheat.
[2239] They can't afford it.
[2240] Go help my dog, Lamar Action Jackson, get one, man. Go to Baltimore.
[2241] All great teams right there.
[2242] Hey, well, the blockbuster trade had us thinking.
[2243] Who is the most untradeable NFL player not named Patrick Mahomes?
[2244] That's an easy one.
[2245] Oh, Joshua.
[2246] Who you going with Josh?
[2247] No, who you going with?
[2248] Jaden Daniels.
[2249] Jaden.
[2250] Or Josh.
[2251] Or Josh.
[2252] Or Josh.
[2253] Or Josh.
[2254] Oh, my God.
[2255] Only when I say Jaden is because Jaden's like, yo, y 'all ain't nothing without me. That's fair.
[2256] I agree.
[2257] I'm going to go with Joe Burrow.
[2258] Joe Burrow resurrected the Bengals franchise from the grave.
[2259] They couldn't have.
[2260] It's got to be Joe Burrow.
[2261] It's got to be Joe Burrow.
[2262] Like, the season he had.
[2263] From the grave.
[2264] F the quarterbacks.
[2265] I'm going with the White House, man. Justin Jefferson, man. I'm going with the White House.
[2266] Do it with any quarterback out there.
[2267] Jefferson might be traded tomorrow.
[2268] No, sir.
[2269] Hey, Travis Kelton.
[2270] No. We won some more.
[2271] We won some more.
[2272] You know why?
[2273] No. Because you had a fight.
[2274] Boy and Ray.
[2275] DuPont.
[2276] DuPont.
[2277] Yay.
[2278] Stay alive, Kelsey.
[2279] That's it for us.
