[1] It's Thursday, September 15th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update, where we provide a brief rundown of some of the top developing stories of the day.
[2] In good news for the American economy, railroad companies and their labor unions reached a handshake agreement on Thursday morning, possibly averting a strike that threatened to exacerbate U .S. supply chain woes.
[3] The marathon talks began early Wednesday and were brokered by labor unions.
[4] Secretary Martin Walsh, leading to an agreement that now goes to union members for a vote.
[5] Rail workers are demanding sick days and more paid time off.
[6] In the meantime, the unions have agreed not to strike.
[7] Two migrant buses from Del Rio, Texas arrived near Vice President Kamala Harris's residence in Washington, D .C., Thursday morning.
[8] This comes a day after Florida Governor Ronda Santos flew two planes of migrants to Martha's Vineyard, escalating a tactic by Republican governors to protest the Biden administration's border policies.
[9] Vice President Harris said recently that the border was secure, a claim rejected by many, including a migrant who told Fox News.
[10] The border is open.
[11] Everybody believes that the border is open.

[13] No problem.
[14] Republican candidates in Pennsylvania are lagging in their midterm races against Democratic rivals, according to a recent poll from CBS News and UGov.
[15] Democratic Senate nominee John Federman is supported by 52 % of respondents, while Republican rival and celebrity cardiologist Dr. Mehmet Oz is backed by 47%.
[16] The race is key for control of the Senate, currently locked at 50 -50.
[17] Average mortgage rates in the U .S. hit 6 % for the first time since 2008.
[18] One year ago, the average rate was 2 .86.
[19] The Supreme Court has temporarily forced Yeshiva University, the famed Orthodox Jewish University in New York, to accept an LGBTQ club against its wishes.
[20] Will Hahn, Senior Counsel at the Beckett Fund, which is representing Yeshiva University, says the case is fundamentally about religious liberty and the First Amendment.
[21] This is a case about who decides who can direct the religious mission at the nation's oldest and most renowned Jewish university.
[22] CNN's shake -up continues.
[23] Long -time host Don Lemon is losing his primetime weeknight show, moving now to the a .m. hours to co -host the network's revamped morning show, along with Poppy Harlow and Caitlin Collins.
[24] The move comes as CNN's new CEO, Chris Licked, is attempting to pull the network back from overtly left -leaning coverage and commentary.
[25] Tennis legend Roger Federer announced his retirement Thursday morning.
[26] Federer won 20 grand slam titles and finished five seasons ranked number one in the world.
[27] His exit from the game comes after several years of nagging knee injuries.
