The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz XX

[1] Now's a good time to remember where the story of tequila started.
[2] In 1795, the first tequila distillery was opened by the Cuervo family.
[3] And 229 years later, Cuervo is still going strong.
[4] Family owned from the start, same family, same land.
[5] Now's a good time to enjoy Cuervo.
[6] The tequila that invented tequila.
[7] Go to Quervo .com to shop tequila or visit a store near you.
[8] Quervo, now's a good time.
[9] owned by Beckley, SAB, the CV.
[10] Copyright 24.
[11] Proximo.
[12] Jersey City, New Jersey.
[13] Please drink responsibly.
[14] Thanks, Dan, for asking.
[15] Just the water polo minute.
[16] All right, U .S. women water polo.
[17] We suffered our first loss yesterday.
[18] We're one in one.
[19] It's so sad.
[20] Oh, my goodness.
[21] Those Spanish sisters had that look in their eyes and that goalie was playing at an all -time rate.
[22] Ashley Johnson, she did a great job.
[23] She still was a plus 5 .6 on the court, as well as Maddie Musselman, 5 .5, Terraprentice, 4 .5, Rachel Fattal, 4 .4, you did me, and you got to know, Yvana Seckle.
[24] That's my dollar salute.
[25] But I just like seeing all the love that these sisters are getting.
[26] Jill Biden was in the building.
[27] She gave a flavor -flavor hug, Snoop Dog, in the building.
[28] It's like, seeing all these people unite around these sports is the most fulfilling part of the Olympics for me. Question, Ju -Ju.
[29] Does water polo look like the sports?
[30] sport that would be the most frustrating to play given how much underwater shenanigans are going on.
[31] Seriously.
[32] Right.
[33] So much shenanigans and that pool is deep and I'm supposed to be jumping up and getting like how do they jump?
[34] When you're like just in the deep end like treading water, how do you jump from that position?
[35] Water polo is no lie.
[36] One of the two most, the sports that I'm impressed with most in the Olympics.
[37] It's like when you think about skating in ice hockey, how you have to do it like second nature.
[38] But you're just have to swim and you've got people pulling you down, pulling your shorts down.
[39] It seems like a very, very difficult sport.
[40] You said two.
[41] The cano.
[42] The other one is gymnastics.
[43] Is there more poking?
[44] Cano looks crazy.
[45] Is there more poking or pinching in water polo?
[46] Great question.
[47] Well, how's your uncle?
[48] How's your uncle is the poking?
[49] What's pinching?
[50] Pinching would be your auntie?
[51] Yeah, I don't know.
[52] I don't have anything for that one.
[53] How's your uncle?
[54] I never heard that one.
[55] The U .S. men's water polo just got a W, though.
[56] So salute to my boys.
[57] And unfortunately, I'm also tasked with covering.
[58] the three on three basketball women's.
[59] We just called an L to Germany.
[60] Ouch.
[61] Get well some sisters.
[62] How does that work?
[63] Are there any big name basketball players for the women playing?
[64] Like I know for the men, Ferdt, Jimmer Ferdtts playing, I believe, for the men.
[65] Who are playing for the women?
[66] Anyone?
[67] Ryan Howard, Haley Van Liff.
[68] We got some good sisters on.
[69] Eric Hambi's filling in for Cameron Brink because she got her in Cassie Burdick.
[70] And it's one thing that I found interesting about 3x3.
[71] First of all, it's called 3x3.
[72] I've been told that that's the proper nomenclature, not first three or three on three.
[73] I keep getting corrected about that.
[74] Why did X take over for V?
[75] It should have been 3V3.
[76] I don't know.
[77] And whoever told me that could be wrong.
[78] No, I think you're right, because that's all I hear is 3x3.
[79] But who decided that?
[80] Elon.
[81] It looks really, I forgot what I was going to say, but it's 3x3.
[82] Yeah.
[83] Oh, I remember.
[84] Yeah.
[85] It's like you have to have a certain amount of qualifying events and points to qualify.
[86] So for the U .S. team, like, it's very different than the last time.
[87] where it was like Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum like some of the like WMBA players that they wanted to have Olympic experience for playing five on five.
[88] This year it's more players that are well versed in 3x3.
[89] Is it the same USA Basketball Committee that decides who's on all these teams?
[90] Yeah, I think well I think they're yes and no. It's almost like they're minor leagues.
[91] Same federation but like they used it last time to get Kelsey Plum ready.
[92] It's kind of a different sport.
[93] Right.
[94] Like that's the thing that's confused.
[95] Much preferred by me. It looks so hard.
[96] Love a half court game.
[97] Love a half court game.
[98] But they don't stop.
[99] Ever.
[100] Like, they're just going the whole time.
[101] Is it like takebacks?
[102] I haven't watched yet three on three.
[103] Like, are there, is there literally like takebacks?
[104] Yeah.
[105] That's awesome.
[106] By the way, this isn't Olympics, but the NBA is starting a new off -season league, three -on -three.
[107] Yes, in Miami.
[108] In Miami, called Unrivaled.
[109] That's going to be pretty interesting.
[110] That's cool.
[111] So far, Angel Reese and Brianna Stewart are probably the two biggest name players.
[112] Everybody's waiting to see if Caitlin Clark's going to play.
[113] But that's going to be interesting.
[114] Three -on -three, five -woman teams.
[115] very short season, big payday.
[116] They're trying to prevent these women from having to, you know, go out of country just to make ends meet, which is sad.
[117] It's headed by Brianna Stewart and the Fees of Collier.
[118] Yeah, they founded it.
[119] Yeah.
[120] I think that that is a really interesting point, Greg, because so far, everyone that said they're doing unrivaled, like, they are the biggest names of the WMBA.
[121] And I'm curious how that will influence the next round of 3x3 tournaments, because it is kind of like you're learning a different sport.
[122] It's much faster.
[123] I don't know if the rules will be the same as, like, international competition where, like, you know, a shot inside the arc is one point, outside is two points.
[124] The ball's a little bit different.
[125] But it is really kind of weird watching it and retraining yourself, like, how to play or how to, like, watch basketball almost.
[126] Greg, how do you consume these Olympics?
[127] Because yesterday I ruined it for my youngest sister, who for some reason didn't think about the time difference and didn't realize she wasn't watching the men's gymnastics live.
[128] My wife ruined that for me last night because I happened to just miss throughout the day.
[129] weather the men's gymnastic and like midway through I was just like oh this is a big mohe he's a pommel horse guy it's all he does my wife is just like they won they won bronze and I'm like what do you mean he hasn't gone yet I know I was being dumb because I was like it was like it was like it was like it was like it was just like she was just like she wanted to get out there she wanted to do this I got mad at her I was like there was no reason for you to say bro they won bronze yeah like my I was curious about this I was clear that I was in the like I didn't know I got mad at her I was like you just did a thing there and she smirked that That was a reason, brother.
[130] She wanted to break the news.
[131] Two weeks ago, you did some bullshit in the house.
[132] You didn't take out the trash.
[133] Yeah, that's true.
[134] And she got you right.
[135] Oh, my God.
[136] Chris, the slow report.
[137] I know.
[138] Oh, that's a good idea.
[139] It could be a good time for slow report.
[140] Caitlin Clark was left off the U .S. women's basketball.
[141] Yeah, you got to do that.
[142] Doing that right now.
[143] You got to do that.
[144] All right, Greg.
[145] Do you watch it live in the afternoon?
[146] Do you just ignore things and then just watch it in the evening and not check your phone?
[147] I watch it in the afternoon.
[148] if it's an event I really want like when the women's soccer team is playing that that's must see TV for me whenever it's on but for the most part I know the wife and I are going to watch a couple hours of Olympics at night so I purposely try not to be too informed you know I want to be a little bit surprised yeah like I didn't know that the U .S. Men's and Matt Six had won bronze until your wife didn't say right before the most I got to hate my wife right now she didn't know either I mean, it's not like she's keeping a secret, you know.
[149] But I'm enjoying it, man. I watch both.
[150] It leaves me longing at night.
[151] If I watched it early, and even if I know the result, I'll still watch it later on the encore.
[152] But there's no live sports on.
[153] I mean, there's a, I guess, WMBA games, maybe, right?
[154] Not right now, right?
[155] They're on the break.
[156] I mean, some baseball games, but, I mean, come on.
[157] Like, this is the Olympics, right?
[158] And so the Olympics are going on, and there's no events at night.
[159] It just makes me sad.
[160] And so I kind of want to watch the encore just to pretend.
[161] like it's live.
[162] Yeah, and also, I've been to Paris, and it's just gorgeous.
[163] And when you talk about volleyball in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower and equestrian at the Palace of Versailles, some of the settings for this Olympics are just visually stunning to me, which is part of my television enjoyment as well.
[164] One thing is that I've found is that if you go on Peacock and watch Gold Zone throughout the day, like you might see some repeat stuff in the primetime show, but if you're watching, like, one, like, long soccer game or basketball game or whatever, they're not replaying those at night.
[165] So, like, you won't get, you won't double up.
[166] Okay.
[167] So you got to do what Chris does and just not know the results and stay up late and watch it on NBC.
[168] Unless your wife ruined it for you.
