Morning Wire XX
[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.
[1] It's Monday, August 26th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] Former President Trump honored the 13 service members who were killed during the withdrawal from Afghanistan three years ago today.
[3] The anniversary comes amid revelations about the Biden administration's response during the disastrous withdrawal.
[4] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the latest.
[5] Trump took part in a private wreath -laying ceremony at Arlington Cemetery.
[6] Meanwhile, President Biden spent the week at his Rehoboth Beach home, while neither he nor Vice President Harris have any public events scheduled.
[7] Today's anniversary comes as newly released emails, show top Biden administration officials discussing the chaos just days before those 13 troops were killed in a terrorist attack at Kabul Airport.
[8] One email detailed security breaches and risks on the ground and spoke about U .S. forces being overwhelmed.
[9] Critics say the emails expose serious failures in the administration's response.
[10] Following the event in Arlington, Trump was joined on stage by former Democratic presidential candidate and Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who formally endorsed him.
[11] I am confident that his first task will be to do the work to walk us back from the brink of war.
[12] We cannot be prosperous unless we are at peace.
[13] And we can't live free as long as we have a government.
[14] that is retaliating against its political opponents and undermining our civil liberties, weaponizing our very institutions against those they deem as a threat.
[15] Kamala Harris has done this over the last three and a half years.
[16] She won't hesitate to continue that if she is elected as president.
[17] Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has officially lost his secret service protection just days after withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race and endorsing Trump.
[18] DailyWire Deputy Managing Editor Tim Rice has the latest.
[19] Kennedy initially struggled to secure protection, but was granted it after the July assassination attempt on Trump.
[20] On Friday, Kennedy exited the race and endorsed Trump, pushing for a unity government.
[21] He says Trump will pursue key issues like ending the war in Ukraine and combating censorship.
[22] According to several polls, Kennedy supporters are now shifting towards Trump in key swing states, though experts still aren't certain of the exact numbers.
[23] As pollster Frank Luntz tells News Nation, the reason Kennedy originally performed so well was because he was viewed as the Biden alternative.
[24] Joe Biden's gone.
[25] Pamela Harris has replaced him and his vote collapsed down to about four or five percent.
[26] And what's left is a Trump vote.
[27] Some of them are simply not going to participate in November.
[28] Roughly two to one, the ones who are remaining will vote for Trump over Harris.
[29] And that's worth a single percent.
[30] And a single percent can make the difference in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
[31] Trump has been blasting ABC News, which is set to host his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
[32] This comes after the network held what Trump called a biased interview with Senator Tom Cotton.
[33] Here's one of the most contentious moments from the interview.
[34] She said when she ran for president that she wants to eliminate private health insurance on the job, 170 million Americans, John.
[35] Yeah, I mean, I mean, that is not her position now.
[36] How do you know this not her position?
[37] How do you know this not her position?
[38] I mean, she says she knows what supports Medicare for all.
[39] She has not said that.
[40] I mean, she, as you heard me go through with Bernie Sanders, she is not taking the positions of the far left of her party.
[41] She's clearly making an effort to move to the middle.
[42] I did hear what you said to Senator Sanders, and I thought it was clear that he's very disappointed that she's taking these efforts, not to change her positions, but to hide her positions, John.
[43] In a truth social post, Trump accused the network of hosting anti -Trump panels and raised suspicions about Harris choosing ABC to host the debate.
[44] A pedophile serving 350 years for abducting and molesting a five -year -old girl may soon be released under California law.
[45] Under the Golden State's elderly parole program, 69 -year -old Charles William Mix is currently eligible for release despite his horrific crimes.
[46] The victim's family is pleading for him to remain behind bars calling the potential release and injustice.
[47] Mix's parole hearing is set for September 25th.
[48] And two astronauts who thought they were going to space for just over a week now won't return home until 2025.
[49] NASA announced that Boeing's troubled Starliner spacecraft will return to Earth uncrewed after helium leaks and thruster issues were found.
[50] Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunni Williams, who were launched aboard the Starliner in June, will now return via a SpaceX mission in February.
[51] Here's NASA administrator Bill Nelson discussing the decision.
[52] Space flight is risky.
[53] even at its safest and even at its most routine.
[54] And a test flight by nature is neither safe nor routine.
[55] And so the decision to keep Butch and sunny aboard the International Space Station and bring the Boeing Starliner home uncrewed is a result of a commitment to safety.
[56] All right, those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
