[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.

[1] It's Monday, March 6th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[2] Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announced Monday that Norfolk Southern, the company at the center of the disastrous derailment in East Palestine, will pay millions for its error.

[3] Along with the train company, the Biden administration has received a lot of criticism for its handling of the disaster, including from Ohio Senator J .D. Vance.

[4] You want the government to do its basic job.

[5] You want the EPA and other folks to actually be on the ground, responding to the crisis in real time.

[6] That took longer than it should have, though I'm happy to say that there's some progress being made there.

[7] You also just want leaders to actually show up and let people know that they care.

[8] And that's one of the ways in which the Biden administration has been a totally catastrophic failure.

[9] It's no wonder the folks of East Palestine feel left behind.

[10] California Governor Gavin Newsom is drawing fire from critics for vacationing in Baja Mexico.

[11] This comes as the state battles severe weather and power outages.

[12] Here with more is Daily Wire's senior editor, Cabot Phillips.

[13] Last week, California was pummeled by historic snowstorms, leaving many stranded into their homes and desperate for help, especially in the San Bernardino Mountain region.

[14] On Thursday, Newsom left the state for a, quote, personal trip to Baja California, a day after he declared a state of emergency, 13 of the state's counties.

[15] On Sunday, his office announced that Newsom had returned to California.

[16] While he was away, rescue workers saved at least 150 people unable to leave.

[17] their homes due to the heavy snowfall.

[18] First responders have been delivering food and providing meals for those unable to travel to grocery stores due to business closures or blocked roadways.

[19] More storms are expected to drop mounds of snow and precipitation onto the state in the days ahead.

[20] The University of Massachusetts is warning other schools of a new viral trend which started on TikTok.

[21] The trend encourages college students to chug so -called blackout rage gallons or boards, a potent mix of alcohol, flavoring, electrolytes, and water.

[22] UMass students had to call for the ambulance at least 28 times, and neighboring towns had to help Amherst deal with the binge drinking over the weekend.

[23] Two Ukrainian pilots are in the U .S. for operations related to military training of U .S. aircraft, including F -16s.

[24] Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce reports.

[25] Congressional and Pentagon officials have told NBC news that the two pilots are currently in Tucson, where their skills are being tested in flight simulators.

[26] The goals here are to improve the pilot's skills and evaluate how long a proper training program could take.

[27] Ten additional Ukrainians have been approved by Congress for additional assessments as early as this month.

[28] Officials say that these training sessions will help the U .S. advise Ukraine's military on how to better use the equipment it already has.

[29] Walgreens is defending itself after it announced that it will not sell or distribute an abortion pill in 21 states either by mail or via retail.

[30] For more, here's Daily Wire Reporter.

[31] Brandon Dre.

[32] The states that Walgreens won't be selling the pills include Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, and Montana where the drug is legal.

[33] The decision followed a letter from 20 Republican attorneys general last month, warning that doing so would violate state law.

[34] A spokesperson for the company said recently, quote, this is a very complex and influx area of the law, and the company is taking into account as it seeks FDA certification to sell the drugs.

[35] Walgreens will still sell it where it is legal.
