[1] It's Friday, October 7th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

[2] Over 150 House Republicans are calling on President Biden to reject California's new radical green car regulations as the state looks to electrify its citizens' fleet.

[3] California's new regulations requires car sellers to phase out gas -powered engines.

[4] A federal judge in New York temporarily blocked parts of a new gun law in the state.

[5] state, allowing for the advocacy group gun owners of America to pursue a lawsuit challenging it.

[6] The law, which took effect on September 1st, creates new requirements for obtaining a license, including submitting social media accounts for review, and designates a long list of public and private places where carrying a gun became a felony, even if the holder has a license.

[8] Republican Representative Lee Zeldin is Catherine Kathy Hokel, according to a new poll by Trafalgar Group.

[9] Hokel is the unelected governor who replaced Andrew Cuomo after his resignation.

[10] Kevin Spacey was in court Thursday to defend himself in a lawsuit filed by Anthony Rapp, the actor who in 2017 made the first in a string of sexual misconduct allegations against Spacey.

[11] The federal trial is expected to last less than two weeks.

[12] The House Committee investigating the events of January 6th announced this week that its next hearing will be held on October.

[24] Texas Governor Greg Abbott's busing program released a bus of migrants who say they're from Venezuela near the Naval Observatory in Washington, D .C. on Thursday.

[26] Volunteers from a humanitarian nonprofit arrived to assist the migrants.
