[2] Tributes from around the world poured in this weekend in response to the passing of legendary singer Jimmy Buffett, who died on Friday, September 1st.
[3] He was 76.
[4] Buffett, known for his popular hits such as Margaritaville, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Come Monday, and countless other songs over a 50 -year career was beloved by millions.
[5] A statement on Buffett's website Sunday afternoon said he passed away at his home in Sag Harbor, Long Island, surrounded by family and friends after battling Merkel cell skin cancer since 2019.
[6] Local authorities in the Nevada Desert are investigating at least one death at the Burning Man Festival after rain and flash flooding forced tens of thousands of attendees to shelter in place and conserve resources all weekend.
[7] The entire place is absolutely just soaked.
[8] Driving a vehicle right now is impossible.
[9] Although the deceased person's identity and the cause of death have not been publicly released, authorities said family members have been notified.
[10] Thick ankle -deep mud overwhelmed more than 70 ,000 people attending the festival in Black Rock City, Nevada, as heavy rain poured in the area for several hours, leaving festival goers stranded.
[11] Meanwhile, Burning Man's CEO, Marianne Goodell, told NBC News that the community of burners came well -prepared for desert extremes.

[13] There was no cause for panic.
[14] We've made it really clear that we do not see this as an evacuation situation and that the community is patient.
[15] Some festival attendees made the long trek on foot hiking nearly 10 miles through the muddy desert.
[16] There were actually rivers that were flooding through the playa where we had to test and see how deep they work.
[17] My wife was carried across the river by a very strong man who carried her on her back.
[18] The Democratic governor of Massachusetts has now activated the National Guard, a move prompted by an influx of migrants, a shortage of housing and growing protests in the state.
[19] Governor Mara Healy mobilized 250 Massachusetts National Guardsmen late last week to help in transporting yet another wave of migrants seeking asylum in the state to government shelters, as reported by the New York Post.
[20] State Senator Jamie Eldred described the migrant crisis to CBS.
[21] Right now, the nonprofits that are in Massachusetts, issues that are stretched, and so they can't provide any more staff.
[22] In Israel, Prime Minister Netanyahu is calling for the immediate deportation of African migrants, mostly from Eritrea, who were involved in violence and classed with Israeli citizens and other migrants over the weekend in Tel Aviv.
[23] Netanyahu said that since many of the migrants maintain loyalty to the regime in Eritrea, they do not have a right to refugee status.
[24] Netanyahu said, quote, we want harsh measures against the rioters, including the immediate deportation of those who took part.
[25] And he requested officials to present a plan for the removal of all the other illegal infiltrators.
[26] President Biden has asked the Democratic National Committee to give $1 .2 million to Virginia Democrats ahead of the state elections in the Commonwealth and in the face of record fundraising from Republican Governor Glenn Yonkin.
[27] The request from Biden comes as a Yonken Political Action Committee raised $5 .9 million by the end of June, a new record for a Virginia governor.
[28] The November elections could prove pivotal as Republicans currently control the State House of Delegates and Democrats control the state Senate.
[29] Amid multiple troubling health incidents with elderly congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley suggested that the entire Congress may need to take mental competency tests.
[30] Haley made the comment on CBS News, Face the Nation on Sunday.
[31] I am completely for term limits.
[32] I'm completely for mental competence.
[33] test for anyone over the age of 75.
[34] And I'm not saying that to be disrespectful.

[39] In the UK, reporters are stunned to learn that business files related to the controversial Prince Andrew will remain locked away until 2065.
[40] The revelation came after royal biographer Andrew Lowney asked for the files from a foreign office during a routine freedom of information request.
[41] Typically, such files are kept secret for 20 years.
[42] Prince Andrew officially stepped back from his royal capacity following allegations of sexual impropriety, often in connection with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
[43] Lowney said the files should be released sooner because, quote, many questions remain about his role as trade envoy and his associations with figures such as Jeffrey Epstein, as well as dictators from Iran.
