Morning Wire XX
[0] I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor -in -Chief John Bickley.
[1] It's Wednesday, September 13th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
[2] In a major update to this morning's Morning Wire episode, authorities have captured Danilo Cavalcante, the convicted murderer and illegal alien who's been on the run from authorities for the past two weeks after escaping Chester County prison.
[3] He escaped on August 31st and has since led hundreds of law enforcement officers on a major police search.
[4] Here's Pennsylvania Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens.
[5] It is a true pleasure to stand here this morning and talk to all of you about bringing this manhunt to a successful conclusion and without getting anyone else hurt, most importantly.
[6] None of this would be possible without the support of this team represented by members of various agencies standing with us up here, by others standing throughout this, fire hall, and by still more who are out there in the field.
[7] Bivens also made a point of defending law enforcement who posed for a photo with the handcuffed convict.
[8] Those men and women worked amazingly hard through some very trying circumstances.
[9] They're proud of their work.
[10] I'm not bothered at all by the fact that they took a photograph with him in custody.
[11] The Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed today that the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers rose 0 .6 % in August, rising 3 .7 % over the last year.
[12] That followed a rise of 3 .2 % in July in consumer price growth, making that two successive months of price increases, stoking fears that inflation may be more persistent than economists had hoped.
[13] More than 5 ,300 people are believed to have died as a result of a tsunami -like flood in the Libyan city of Durnah after a dam burst during a storm on Sunday.
[14] The total death toll could reach as high as 10 ,000 people, according to officials.
[15] The United Nations described the situation as a calamity of epic proportions.
[16] In a contradiction to the Biden administration's claims this week, Iran's president said that the Iranian government will decide how to spend the $6 billion in assets unfrozen by the administration.
[17] Secretary of State Anthony Blinken approved a deal last week that would release the assets in exchange for five American captives, with the stipulation that the money would go toward humanitarian goods.
[18] Congress was notified of the deal on Monday as lawmakers and officials honored the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
[19] Iranian President Ibrahim Raiisi told NBC that they will spend the money, quote, wherever we need it.
[20] Humanitarian means whatever the Iranian people needs.
[21] So this money will be budgeted for those needs.
[22] And the needs of the Iranian people will be decided and determined.
[23] determined by the Iranian government.
[24] Alleged non -human alien corpses in glass cases were presented before Mexico's Congress today during the country's first public congressional hearing on UFOs.
[25] According to those in attendance, two mummified specimens with three fingers on each hand were shown.
[26] Mexican journalist and self -described UFOologist Jamie Mossin claims that a carbon -14 analysis shows that the corpses are around 1 ,000 years old.
[27] Lawson also says that other testing determined that over 30 % of the DNA was unknown.
[28] 24 Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is slamming his own party's primary process, saying that it is rigged to help President Biden and that this isn't the first time the DNC meddled in the electoral process.
[29] The Democratic Party put their finger on the scale, their thumbs, their foot on the scale to make sure that Bernie Sanders could not get the nomination.
[30] I think if Bernie Sanders, I'm the nomination, we would be in a very different place in our country today.
[31] And I am 10 times the threat that Bernie Sanders was.
[32] His campaign says it's looking into options for how to proceed, given that the DNC is allegedly unwilling to meet with them.
[33] New York City's pension fund, along with the state of Oregon, are suing Fox Corporation over allegedly airing falsehoods about the 2020 election they claim harmed investors.
[34] The suit, which was filed in Delaware, accuses Fox of amplifying conspiracy theories about the election, opening them up to defamation claims such as the recently settled suit with Voting Machine Company Dominion Voting Systems.
[35] Both New York City's pension fund and the state of Oregon are long -term shareholders of Fox Corporation.
[36] The U .S. government will reportedly use $100 million worth of taxpayer money to repair or replace more than 6 ,000 electric vehicle charging stations in states across the country.
[37] The move comes amid a series of reports highlighting the challenges of attempting to recharge an EV.
[38] Eugene Peltola Jr., the husband of U .S. Representative Mary Sattler Peltola, died in a plane crash in Alaska.
[39] The Congresswoman announced the tragic news Wednesday morning.
[40] The National Transportation and Safety Board is investigating the crash.
[41] And Utah Republican Senator Mitt Romney announced today that he will not seek a second term in the Senate.
[42] Those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
